From outside it actually looks cozy and nice. The minute we enter we were met by several servants, so attentive part was ticked off. It's was not a busy night, most seats vacant. We went upstairs and the furniture would be more attractive in an antique store. We ordered kibbeh and hummus as appetizer. The meat inside Kibbeh was cold and the server changed it to two new ones. Same result, but now it was frozen in center. We did not bother to mind the staff again. The hummus was good! We also ordered mix grill. I am so sorry but that was a huge disappointment! Meat was burnt, and was a handful to chew in addition. Salad that came with it didn't taste much either, like Arabic salads usually do. First time dining at Zouroona. I dragged my boyfriend here because it was the only place with knafeh nearby and I was CRAVING knafeh... First impression walking in was "oh this is new." We were greeted by a lady who was at the top of the stairs. We walked up and that's where the lounging and dining was. I ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich ($12) and knafeh ($10), my boyfriend got the lamb kabob sandwich ($12). The Knafeh came out first per request and to put it in the simplest way, I don't think I would come back to order knafeh here... especially not for $10 (only $2 less than our sandwich?!). It definitely got rid of my knafeh craving but I wouldn't come back for it, I'd drive the 24mins to go to Jenins pastry and get knafeh there. My sandwich was delicious. It was very juicy and full. One is the best experiences I have had with catering. I needed a halal turkey to help an evacuated Afghan family celebrate their first Thanksgiving in America. I am not much of a cook, so I searched around and found that Zouroona caters halal Thanksgiving dinner. Where do I begin? So much has already been said about this restaurant in other reviews that at this point I'm just echoing the restaurant's solidified reputation. Well, for the sake of your wallet and experience I'll keep echoing. Before I start, I have to offer a disclaimer. Our negative experience here is partly colored by the previous owners who served virtually the same menu but who did it well. When we first entered the building, we were greeted by who I believe was the owner or manager and a seemingly confused yet robotic waitress. From the start it was very apparent that they wanted us to sit outside and not upstairs as they pushed for us to do just that. Making our way through what once was a dining area and bar but is now a crowded, cluttered storage area on display for the world, we arrived at the back patio area. Once outside we immediately notice how disheveled it was. For instance, the patio yearns for a good cleaning, the seating area is in disarray, the cushions have seen better days, and scattered about the perimeter are dead bushes as well as parts and pieces of old patio furniture. Additionally, if you go, don't sit on the patio. You are literally next to the road. Between talking over the constant barrage of vehicle sounds and unnecessarily loud dining music, it's not an experience you want to have. We ordered two chicken kabob platters, a coke, a large Morocco Mint Tea, and eventually water. The platters were an americanized take on kabobs, the water we had to pay for, the coke never came, and the tea was as generic as you can get. The platters came with a salad drenched in oil (zero flavor), rice that was extremely greasy, chicken that looked like it came from Sam's, and store-bought pita that was soaked and soggy from the chicken grease. The tea was not drained. Tiny specks of mint floated all about. Also, it was served in a broken and very stained carafe. Honestly, for $16 to $18 a plate, this was not worth it. The presentation is subpar (plastic cutlery with one napkin) and the experience is lacking in every way possible. Our total was $55 for a night of mediocrity. Overall, I would not go again, we felt very rushed and uncomfortable the entire time . There are three things that make a restaurant worth revisiting, the food, the staff, and the experience/presentation. My wife and I felt that the food and our experience with the entire evening are irredeemable. We don't get many date nights and to have one wasted as we did hear is painfully irritating. So last night was amazing because we stumbled in to this place!! It was our first time coming here and omg I'll definitely be back with more friends. Not only was the place really cool looking with chill vibes but my goodness the food was AMAZINGGGG I absolutely loved EVERYTHING we ordered!! And reasonably priced!! On top of that, I met the owner while I was there and he was so very kind, welcoming and really treated us like we were Kings/Queens and made me feel so comfortable! My main negative for Zouroona is that the customer service is sooooooo slow. The place wasn't even that busy with less than 10 tables throughout the duration I was there. Thankfully, the food is good. I got the Gyro Sandwich and it was perfectly light and tasty. And it wasn't pricey either! The drinks on the menu do look a bit overpriced though, so I wouldn't suggest that. Also, they charge for water here apparently. When the server asks if you'd like water, it's bottled and it does cost something even though regular water isn't on the menu. Went here for dinner, the restaurant has options for dine in upstairs and outside. If the hoookah bother you,I recommend to dine inside. My initial service was very slow, it took about 3-4 minutes for server to bring a bottle of water. I order the gyro platter, the food took about 10 minutes to arrived which for me is not bad. The food come with yellow rice pilaf, about four pieces of pita and Greek salad which I hope it had a little more flavor salad was a little bland. The gyro was tasty, fresh, garnish with onions, feta cheese and the tzatziki sauce was fresh and had a good taste. I also order french fries with my meals, fries were hot and enjoyable. I also order a mango smoothie which was more like juice, which was refreshing. I enjoy my meal overall. The outside has was comfortable since it was not humid or hot. Actually pleasantly surprised by this neighborhood hookah spot I ventured in for the worst time since me and my friend wanted to check out a local spot closer to where we both lived. Hookah spots are a dime a dozen in Virginia and I was skeptical of Woodbridge having quality hookah spots. Zouroona definitely cured that skepticism when both the hookah and the appetisers we ordered were more than satisfactory. We went with the orange mint which was pretty good and the kibbeh and baba ghanoush. The kibbeh was surprisingly really yum. I also ordered the carrot-orange freshly squeezed juice which was less than stellar but also because it wasn't a seasonal juice so I'm not surprised but good to know they keep their juices organic and not super sugary. Their service is a bit slow even though most of the place was relatively empty. Hope they take note of that. The food here is well seasoned. Ive been here several times . I do not care for their hummus sandwiches - too crunchy or over cook. And today the beef I order was the same-extra crunchy as well. And the ambiance is ok. The older architecture of the building gives it character with the middle eastern furniture . They don't necessarily mix but it does it does give a unique look. However, the waitress service is not up to par. Today's was the worst I've ever experience here. The young waiter disappeared and never came back to check on me. I had to go looking for him in order to pay my bill and to put my left over in a container, which I ended doing myself. The other part I don't like about this place is the automatic 20% gratuity added to your tab. My young , invisible waiter got a 20% gratuity he didn't earn. You will spend an average of $30 plus per person. My plate of beef Shawerna cost $ 21.00. Definitely a $3.00 increase from the last time I was here. A non-alcoholic beverage averages $5.00 and higher unless you order water at $2.00 a bottle. Add the imposed 20% gratuity.... EXTREMELY RUDE OWNER! I decided to dine in this restaurant since I saw a 4 star rating. I said let's give a try and went with a friend. We went in and chose to seat in the regular table. As I sat down, since one of the legs of the chair was in the garden, it slipped all the way in and I fell upside down. The waitress and my friend had to pull me up. My entire right hand was bleeding as a result of the rose plant's thorn. I went to the rest room washed it away but I was still bleeding. You can see the pictures, but these are taken after I put some alcohol to it. The waiter tried to get the First Aid Kit, but they did not have one! So, she went to her car and brought some alcohol kit that she had. After all this, the owner never came, never apologized or anything. Then after we finished eating, she brought the check. I asked the waiter if she can ask the owner to take care of the bill because of what happened. She said ok and went inside. Then the owner came and asked me "What is going on?" I said, you know what went wrong.....He stopped me and said "You chose to sit in that seat so it is not our problem and we can not pay your bill", he said. I was stounded and surprised. I told him, "I only asked, so send the bill back and I will pay" I replied. He told me he can give me a free hot tea and I said I don't need it. I paid and left. This is EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED! I really enjoy the middle eastern ambiance and music here. Usually there is at least one party smoking a hookah so I would not recommend this place to people sensitive to that. The food is excellent and is priced very low in my opinion. But we arrived for dinner at Zouroona, a restaurant which replaced Georgies Grill at the same location, but we did not stay. Zouroona only has outdoor seating right now - I assume because of the pandemic - but the open dining area is immediately adjacent to a major thoroughfare with nothing to baffle the noise, so it's difficult to hear your dining partner or anything else for the traffic. Surprisingly they have not spaced out the tables to protect customers against the pandemic and tried twice to seat us adjacent to other couples who were just feet away. We finally pointed to a relatively isolated table and asked for it. There were 3 tables in the dining room which had people puffing on large hookahs. Of course, the exhaled vapor wafted across the other dinners as they were eating. We were already rethinking our restaurant selection when they turned on some very loud, raucous music - totally inappropriate to a restaurant, and completing what was already a very disagreeable dining environment. I would have loved to try something from the menu because it did look inviting, but as I said, we left without eating. It almost seemed that the new owners of Zouroona have never operated an American restaurant because they could not have done more to drive a customer away. Georgies Grill -- come back! read more

I ordered the lamb kabob and my husband ordered the beef kabob. The lamb was over cooked and tough no flavor nor spices considering this is a Mediterranean/ Lebanese cuisine. The salad was brown, wilted and was saturated with some type of oily substance. The rice was also dry and lacked flavor as well. The waitress brought out a bottle of Mexican hot sauce which was strange and some sort of garlic butter. The meal overall was dreadful. As for the service i gave it a 2 out of 5. The waitress never came over to see if we needed anything considering we were the only patrons there. We had to flag her down for the check.
