We visited Zorba this weekend. The restaurant was booked all day for Mother's Day, but when we arrived they were so attentive and made sure we were promptly served beverages and appetizers. The trio deck of red pepper hummus, traditional hummus and Tzatziki was the perfect complement to our meal. We ordered the Mixed Grill entree which came with lamb chops, sirloin, and chicken. Was walking around the Occoquan area, and saw Zorba's, so decided to give it a try with a friend. Unfortunately, was quite disappointed. The Food: I went with the Chicken Souvlaki for my entree, and a Gazpacho for my appetizer. I was disappointed with how little effort they put into making the dish. I paid over $20 for a dish that was plain and bland, with very few pieces of chicken. The meat was cooked nicely though, tender. But for somewhat premium prices, I would've expected a little more effort into the dish. The Gazpacho tasted fine, but again, overly priced appetizer for a little amount of food. The Service: Service was decent. We were greeted when walking into the restaurant, and was sat down immediately. The staff were very nice and friendly, but the service itself wasn't on-par. It took longer than usual for our food to get out, and mind you, it was not busy during lunch. But our patience ran thin after about 35 minutes and when we saw the food, it was quite frustrating. The Atmosphere: The restaurant is nice and small. Has a decent amount of seating and is very well kept/clean. It's nicely decorated with simple decor. There's outdoor seating as well, if the weather permits. Overall, a 1/5. Not a fan of how overly priced the food was, compared to the quality and quantity of what you get. read more

Ele We used to love the food and friendly service of the original Zorba's. My Husband liked the Moussaka. It was the best and served on an oval dish (completely full by it). This time (August 2025), it was the same dish with about half the food, surrounded by oil and not very tasty. I had the Salmon ( not very fresh or good flavor, probably a little uncooked). It was a small portion and it was served with a very small portion (one spoon) of some sort of mashed potato, probably prepared with box powders, without much taste. For the price we paid, it is a bit higher than before, especially when considering the poor quality. read more

First, this review is not based on the food or service, it's more of a PSA based on their menu. The problem is that their website's menu is radically different from the menu that they give you when you sit down. Lots of items are gone, kids menu stripped down, and even simple options like adding items to salads, which were on their menu as listed online, removed. We asked about it and they said they "lost the password for the website" and they couldn't do anything about its information. Apparently this had happened before because when my wife asked about it the server just chuckled and said "Yeah, people say that all the time." So, based on that alone 1-star. read more

Let me start my review by responding to the previous reviewer who said this is "a very affordable"restaurant. We went there for lunch and struggled to find an entree less than $15 and several were over $30. On the lunch menu! The restaurant itself is nice - set back off of the Main Street - and seating is available both inside and out. Outdoor seating is under a canopy of trees which looked very inviting but we chose to sit indoors which is decorated simply but felt nice and clean. My wife and I went there because the chalkboard Marquee outside advertised Moussaka, one of my wife's favorite dishes. However after being seated, we discovered that they only offer it as an appetizer. Even at that, it was almost $20. We decided on the calamari as our appetizer and selected the beef skewers as our main course which came with side of rice for $22. The waitress took our food order and started to dash off. We had to call her back to let her know we wanted drinks too. We had quite a bit of difficulty communicating with her throughout the entire meal because she spoke very little English. After she took our drink order she again dashed off, and again, we had to call her back to ask if we could get some bread. She said it would come out with the meal. We asked to get it first and she said okay. But 10 minutes later with no bread, I went and asked her again for the bread... now. She finally brought us some nice hot pita bread that was tasty and then dashed off. I had to again get up and go ask her if they had oil to dip the bread in - pretty standard in Greek restaurants. She said, "of course", and got us some oil which was also very flavorful. However it seemed like everything we needed during the meal, we were going to have to ask for. Ouri appetizer came out with a pretty small number of calamari. But even worse, they looked like frozen calamari that they fried up; too much breading and very little meat. The flavor wasn't bad but I could have gotten the same quality in the frozen section at Safeway. Then our entres came out and included two short skewers of beef, a decent amount of rice and inexplicably, a pile of shredded raw onion on the side. The skewers of beef had tiny pieces of green pepper between the pieces of meat and on the end of the skewer, a small chunk of onion. The beef was decent but a bit chewy. There was not enough green pepper between them to add much, and the onion on the end of the skewer was not cooked all the way through. The rice was barely warm and the raw shredded onions on the side were just unnecessary. The final insult was the bill which, for my wife and I for lunch, was almost $70. We quickly played our tab departed, agreeing to look for other lunch options in Occoquan. read more

The food is outstanding! All made fresh and so delicious. Family owned and very friendly. The calamari was perfectly cooked and had a beautiful dusting as opposed to a heavily breaded crust. The grilled octopus was tender and flavorful. We've sat both outside in the relaxing courtyard and inside the casual restaurant. This restaurant beats the food at Old Town's Greek restaurants. I ordered through Door Dash. The positives were the dolmades in the sampler. That had great flavor. But that was about it. The rest of the sampler was blah, I would not recommend it. I definitely do not recommend the spanikopita, not sure how you mess up spinach and feta, but it wasn't good. I had the Pastitsio. It was ok. The meat flavor was what I expected. The pasta was fine. The sauce was fine. It didn't make me want to go back. Whatever you do - do not buy the Greek potatoes. Hard as a rock and they had no flavor. I have since read some of the reviews on here, and an overwhelming amount say the potatoes are undercooked, so I'm not sure what's wrong with the restaurant that they can't improve one simple thing that had been a complaint since they opened. I won't be ordering from here again. I hear the ambiance is nice - so maybe I'll stop by and have their dolmades and calamari - which I read in the reviews is really good. Cheers. read more

My wife asked for Moussaka, which was supposed to be ready that day- we were there 2 days earlier to make sure it would be available- and no Moussaka. Unbelievably the chef came out of the kitchen, opened the front door of the restaurant and shuttled her outside. Who does that? Found this hidden gem on a weekend tucked inside a quiet street. The food here is amazing . We tried their fried calamari and it's out of the world good. They're fried to perfection, soft and not overly seasoned like some other places. The gyro $15 was so good and fresh. I ordered the Ruben sandwich $15 and they're delicious. The portions is good size not too big. The only downside is there's only one server. The ambience is relaxed garden with canopies. Been wanting to try every restaurant in Occoquan town so naturally saw this spot had a two gyro special and made an order. Honestly I'm not entirely satisfied with the fried and tzatziki sauce - the fries needed more salt and maybe even lemon and garlic. The Sauce tasted like yogurt, could have used more vegetable to bring those aromatics. The meat could also use some more garlic but for the price you pay for two sandwiches its totally worth it! I'm a resident of Occoquan and am so excited to have another restaurant in town. I fully believe in supporting local, shopping small and local, and eating local. I support as many businesses in town as possible, and I will continue to do so for Zorba's too. As with all restaurants, I believe in honest feedback so a restaurant can know where they are meeting the mark, and areas to improve upon. Heck, that's how we all get better! So here we go: Pros: 1. Takeout order was prepared on time. 2. Souvlaki sandwich was awesome! Meat was tasty, get was fantastic! 3. Pita bread was appropriately soft and chewy. 4. Calamari was excellent! 5. Owner was kind. Great energy. Areas for Improvement: 1. While food was ready on time, it was not warm. 2. Fries were not cooked completely. They were almost raw potatoes with pepper on top. I threw them away (picture included). Those NEED work. Fries should be pretty simple. 3. Baklava price was a little hefty at $5 a piece (picture included). My fiancé and I just moved to the area and made a last minute decision to have a late lunch here and we are so glad we did! The chef was also our server and did an excellent job. We both ordered the chicken pita and it was absolutely delicious. My fiancé is from the Mediterranean and said that it "took him home" and was the best pita that he has ever had in the states. The intimate environment was clean and cozy and the soundtrack was just as welcoming. We absolutely will be returning and bringing friends and family! read more

My friend and I visited this spot today and unfortunately, we never got to try the food. The waitress was rude, flustered, and complaining that she was busy. We sat for at least 10 minutes before we were served glasses of water, and we never did get a menu even after my friend asked for one. The waitress had directed us to sit inside because the courtyard was full of bees and so we did. But guess what, she was serving everybody on the outside - most who came after us - and not paying any attention to us sitting inside. That's it for me, I will never go back. read more

Went there for an impromptu mid-week date night. The restaurant is super cozy with an amazing staff. We even had the pleasure of meeting the owner who is charming and personable. We had the chicken and rice soup of the day, Greek salad, cheese manicotti, and the kabob specials. All were flavorful and delicious. The outside seating was nice, the falafel was small but had good flavor, the gyro was uneventful and nothing you would not get out of a Costco Gyro kit. The fries were the most disappointing of everything as the were Krinkle cut fries that you would get from any frozen grocery store plus the came out on a child portion plate. The food did not warrant the prices that they charge & they did not have the desert of my choice and told me they have been out of it since last week. For any business owner, if you are out of something get it back in stock next day or take it off the menu. The waitress was initially nice, but since I did not leave her a great trip belted out in a condescending manner thanks for the great trip. My tip matched the service and the overall food. This is my new favorite Greek restaurant. I am lactose intolerant and asked about the breading on their fried calamari. The waitress told me that it did indeed have milk in it. The owner/chef then came out and offered to broil it for me. I thanked him but said I prefer it fried. We then ordered our dinners, lamb kabob platter for my husband, and veggie pita for me. A little while later, the chef brings out a plate of fried calamari with a light, delicious breading. No milk and on the house. Everything was delicious and perfectly done. Don't miss the baklava! My mind is boggled. Pasticho had tomato paste on the top, which I've never seen in my whole entire life. It just over powered everything. The mousaka could have been good, but the eggplant was totally undercooked. Potatoes were also undercooked. I'm just baffled, as a Greek, this was the least authentic Greek food I've had in my life.
