Took my Jeep into them, they actually did what they said they were going to do for the price they said they were going to do it for. It didn't fix all the problems because I had to take it in and I gave them the code data I got from my scan tool. They found the problem in the engine using a borescope and the front desk lady told me I should get it checked out at fuel monkey who works on engines all the time. I did and the Jeep is on the way to working right. They cost a bit but their mechanics are alright, everything they said made after the years I have been working on cars myself. No scams and they give you paperwork to show you just what they are doing. Maybe one caveat they wanted 400 for a new car battery, I laughed and said no I can put a new battery on myself. They charged up my old battery anyways which was a nice touch. Kind of a small shop but they let me park my jeep there while I got a hold of fuel monkey to fix the engine. Great folks there! Tim is awesome and have known him from when he owned his own shop. He continues to provide great management, service and honesty which. I would give them a 5 just for that but the 4 is because of their costs is more than others. That said, and in all fairness to Z's, they do provide a 3 year and 36,000 guarantee vs most which is 1 year and 12,000. Great shop and people none the less. read more

My daughters car was acting up. I was able to call them and have the car brought in right away and she was able to get a loaner car. Unfortunately, without a new motor, we were not able to fix the car. However, they did very good detailed work and it was very obvious to me that there diagnosis of the problem was cracked. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because when they told me how much it was going to be to pick the car up, it was more than what I was originally quoted. They did fix the amount and I was able to pick up the car for just over what the original quote was. All in all it was a very good experience. I will definitely bring cars to them again! read more

Brought my 2008 infinity g37s to have them see if my timing was off after having them scan my ecu. . They found sludge inside the VALVE COVER so I told them I didn't want to continue , they left the car the way it was and They charged me 776.45 for labor , and 835.27 in total. They took off oil pan, disconnected and tied the power steering and ac composer to the side and lastly removed the alternator before removing Manifold and opening up the passangers valve cover. it I got home and put everything back together in 3 /4 hours . CONFIRM THERE RATE BY HOUR don't go with the estimate they give it's always wrong. read more

Hunting for a used car can be an ordeal. Trying to find a good mechanic on short notice in an unfamiliar city for a pre-purchase inspection can be even harder. Lucky for us, fellow Yelpers tipped us off to Z's Car Center, and Delbert, the owner, was gracious enough to squeeze us into his busy (no, really) lineup within a couple of hours. Upon arrival, Delbert's easygoing but professional manner quickly put us at ease. So much so, I was beginning to wonder a) if I was really at an auto shop and b) if he'd notice that we were (ok, still are) female, ripe for the advantage-taking (Bad Past Experience rears its ugly head). As if on cue, while he was writing up the initial paperwork, a woman dropped by to give him fresh cucumbers as a small "thank you" for helping her relative on short notice. He was humble and grateful for the gesture. I thought, "Wow, this guy is the real deal"-- unless he had a call button under his desk for such occasions-- ok, that's just the Bad Past Experience talking again. After the inspection, Delbert took the time to explain each line item, answered any and all questions related (and unrelated) to the car, and offered sound advice on formulating a fair offer. He gave us ballpark figures for many of the needed repairs, but since he wanted to be as thorough as possible, he offered to call around for the parts and e-mail a more detailed and accurate estimate. Was Z's offering the cheapest inspection we found in town? No, but it offered a more thorough inspection for just a few bucks more than the dealerships. Did we get the car? Unfortunately, no; there's just no helping unrealistic expectations. On the bright side, we found an honest and reliable mechanic which, as many know, is Priceless. read more

On a road trip and my truck is having problems. I call the local Ford dealer and they have no time to even look at my truck. They refer me to Z's Car Care. I drop by and explain the issue to Delbert, the owner. He schedules me for an appointment later that day. I come back for the appointment, they assess and diagnose and give me an estimate. They also offer me a loaner car, so I can stay at my already paid for hotel on the coast. They have it fixed the next day and I'm able to continue on. Perhaps "enough said" isn't enough. It's been awhile, but my story is this: I had a minivan that was experiencing odd electronic troubles. It was still drivable, but these were small annoying things like windshield wipers spontaneously turning on and off. I brought it in to Z's and left it with them for the day. When I came back, he had not been able to figure out what was causing the problem. I asked him, "What do I owe you?" Even though he had looked at it a couple hours, he told me that he would not charge me for his time if he did not fix it. I took a car I was interested in buying to Z's for a pre-purchase inspection. They stayed open later than usual to fit me in and I'm so grateful that they did. Go people, but bad business practices. Specifically, they do not go over what exact work will be done and what price to expect to pay when finished. I was surprised to see a $145 bill for a simple brake inspection. They also charged $10 in fees for hazmat & shop hardware just for your car being there (they say they spread this cost to all customers). On a positive note, they did refund me some money, but told me not to come back (probably because they know I have a brain in my head). read more

I have been going to Z's Car Care for a few years now. I ran across their shop while searching for a repair shop when my 1987 Corvette needed some help after driving up from San Francisco in 103 degree August weather. I am accustomed to small owner repair shops since a very close friend of mine, whom had been 1 of my mechanics at an Oldsmobile dealership where I was the Service Director, decided he wanted to go into business for himself in the mid 1980's. Delbert is very much like my friend in San Francisco. I have now been living in Hillsboro for 3 years & Z's Car Care is MY shop for all of my automotive needs. Delbert, as the owner, cares about his customer's and their automobile as if it was his own car. The service advisor, Dean, is just as concerned & responsible to the customer & their car. I am not going into the specifics about my own car repair needs suffice it to say, Z's Car Care has never let me down. My 1995 Corvette is currently in the shop as I fully trust Delbert, Dean and their mechanic's to do what is the correct way to do repair work. Not only do I fully trust them. They are more honest than most shops I have dealt with in the past 48 years. Z's Car Care isn't necessarily a Corvette facility but they do know how to get the information needed to do the repairs correctly the 1st time every time. No matter what make or model you drive, Z's Car Care is the place you need to take your car. If you own a Corvette of the C4 variety or older, this is as good a place to bring your car as any Corvette specific shop. read more

I do not doubt these guys are highly qualified mechanics and can do a thorough job even for complex fixes. But they told me my timing belt was "wearing out on the edges" and needs replacing when in fact my car does even NOT HAVE a timing belt and instead uses a timing chain - which never needs replacing! Maybe you just can't trust anyone in the world of car repair... Prices are no deal either, they quoted $500 for a starter replacement that several other places do for $200-$250, and with good records and warranties too. read more

Z's Car Care was one of the best automotive experiences I've ever had. I had major problems with my vehicle, and Delbert was honest and straightforward with me about it's issues. He spent over an hour attempting to diagnose the problem. In the end, it could be fixed without a major overhaul to the engine. Delbert told me that if he couldn't/didn't fix it, then I didn't pay, and I didn't pay a penny for this diagnostic service. He then took time to connect me with a salvage yard, that was interested in my vehicle, and arranged the inspection. I wasn't satisfied with the offer, and ended up going another route. Delbert completely supported my decision. During the purchase of my next vehicle, Z's completed the pre-sale inspections for me, for two different vehicles. They were honest about their concerns, with the first, and enthusiastically approved the second. Delbert and his techs are knowledgeable, polite and provided timely, cost-effective and competent service and were alway right, the FIRST TIME, in my experience. Most trustworthy mechanics you'll ever meet! We have an old truck that we're doing our best to maintain (its still got almost all the original bits) and it just wasn't starting one day. After paying to tow it there and waiting to here back, turn out it magically started again. They told us the tow truck dropping it likely knocked the starter loose. He then showed me where the starter was, so next time I could try hitting it with a hammer a few times before having to tow it. Saved us a bunch of money and didn't push us to replace the piece that was working. That's class A stuff right there! They also fixed numerous issues with our Vibe and have done tune ups on the truck as we needed them. We never feel over-charged or ripped off after leaving this place. Cars are always spendy but these guys keep you informed of what you really need now and the price it will be. They let you know what you need to replace (like our timing belt) but they don't harass you to replace it. Thanks y'all! Keep up the great work! read more

Having just moved to the area, I was looking for a auto repair shop to work on my Toyota and found it in Z's Car Care. Wow, I finally found a good hard working honest mechanic, the owner Delbert is a warm and easy going professional master mechanic, meeting him for the first time was like seeing an old high school friend you haven't seen in years. Had my Toyota worked on, he does a very through 21 Point check as a courtesy and lets you know in what priority you should get those repairs fixed. I am very disappointed by the lack of service they performed on my car and how expensive their service was compared to other shops in the area I have done business. They said the car was out of warranty, but it was in warranty at the dealer -- so I went to the dealer. I was very sad and disappointed with z car care. I no longer do any business there. :( read more

Our car was having weird starting issues and had to be jumped via the alternator to get it to this shop. They had it fixed in just over a day and my fiance was able to pick it up! The car worked great for a day, then the same problem occurred AGAIN! When we wiggled the wire attached to the battery, it would start up but we had to do that every time. So, the next day my fiance called them up and explained what happened. The guy apologized several times and then came and picked it up from our office, while we were at work! Two hours later, he had it back to us working without a problem! This is A+ service in my book, if you charge for a fix that doesn't completely fix it...you should always do this!!!
