Well..... I didn't think that spending hours in a salon was my idea of a good time, especially for a man, but I have seen the light! My friend went here for a spa day, and I tagged along just for fun. You have to try everything once, right? Plus, my toes did look a bit rough. Ivila took great care of me with a gentle pedicure, I even got to choose the scent I wanted to soak my feet, I chose eucalyptus. When the massage chair revved up, I knew I had made an excellent life choice. I was so into it. After that, I went for the manicure from the owner Zubeda. Why not? It had been a while. I don't always write reviews, but I came in on a whim because my husband was getting a haircut close by. I asked the front desk, hey I have about 45 minutes to kill, can you fit me in for any service? The lovely Eliziana said, absolutely sure can! Skin guru, she is indeed! I had my first facial ever. It was mini one and my skin feels incredible now. I cannot wait to make this part of my regular routine because I have always been insecure about my skin and taught me a lot about skin treatment and caring for my sensitive skin. Edit: 4 stars because my husband really does like the place, they're always really nice and the cuts really are good. I'd love to give this more stars because the cuts have been great. But the pricing is completely opaque and every time we go in it's something different that doesn't match what's listed on the website. My husband went in for a haircut with a stylist whom they told us charges $25. The next time he went he got a different stylist, and the cut was $30. They said because he was a Master Stylist. So for his third cut we went back to the first stylist, and now they charged him $35! These are 3 cuts within 5 months of each other. I emailed to bring this to their attention, and they are claiming it should never have been $25 to begin with, even though their email said (verbatim) "she charges $25 for a men's cut". Also, every time my husband has gone he has had to wait 20-30 mins after his appointment time to get in the chair, so a men's cut ends up taking almost an hour and a half from arrival. All that said, the stylists do an excellent job, but we're going to look elsewhere for a better all-around experience. read more

I initially came to this place bcuz a close friend has been there and had positive experiences. My hair was long for my standards due to the pandemic. I have had many cuts in my lifetime and I certainly don't need anyone to tell me about my own hair. My hair is straight with lots of body. I know my hair needed a deep conditioner. I sat in a chair for two hours for a basic cut that needed to be corrected by two other stylists for 50 bucks and they had the nerve to say it was a discount. Fast forward I did like the young girl that was clearly inexperienced so I decided to go back for a second chance and I asked for Tin. Had my eyebrows done by Zubeda which now in hine sight were average. I have had better. I got not only the worse cut but I went home and I had dye all over my neck and my shirt was ruined. I had to wash out the dye that was left in my hair and now my hair is over-processed. I could write a book on what happened afterwards. I had already scheduled an appointment to go back today on that same day. I called spoke to Zubeda who by the way likes to talk over you and minimize your experience. I would give 0 stars for this place. I have filed a formal complaint with the states professional licensing Office and have submitted a request for investigation into the salon and their practices and whether the chemicals they use are up to date or outdated. This is not the last Coca Cola in the desert and I am not going to let it go. For the record when an owner of a hair chop shop throws out racial comments like using the Karen word to a Latina, You Gotta know they are Lying!!! The owner claims they have provided several "complimentary treatments" however that is. Lie I have multiple receipts where I paid over 140 each time I went in there 50 for product and conditioning treatments that did not work or were not recommended for what I needed Owner also claimed they did a correction on a style they didn't do however my hair was done the first time by an unlicensed stylist named Lindsay who they said no longer works for them only to have that same "stylist" say they called me or would have the stylist call me to accommodate the damages she created and it was never done here is the business owners very own post from a Facebook live event while I was in her salon for the color correction she said she never did. I just left Zubedas Spa I went in for a 30-minute massage and let me tell you I have been feeling super tense on my upper back and the minute I laid down and Zubeda started working on my back I could feel all the knots being melted away. To come in feeling super tight and leaving light as a feather is amazing! Zubeda was able to make me feel 100% better and my back is not feeling tight or heavy or painful anymore, it feels AMAZING!! So I was badly in need of a haircut, but like a real nice shaped layered cut, not a simple trim. I scheduled an appointment the day before and was lucky. When I arrived my coat was taken and I was offered a beverage (water, coffee or tea). The spa is beautifully decorated with fine wood carved furniture and beautiful Moroccan lanterns, it's clear that love and care was put into this space. My stylist was Christine and she was fantastic! She was funny, welcoming and an impeccable artist of her craft. Before anything was done she examined my hair. Asked what I liked, offered suggestions and listened. I was taken to the back where I received a relaxing shampoo and then it was time for the cut. I asked for layers and got some of the best layering done...ever. It was great! Christine truly knows hair! after cutting my hair perfectly, she proceeded to curl my ends so I could truly see the layering affect and WOW! It was simply stunning! I had these gorgeous layers with small flips and elegant waves. When I went to work today my students and colleagues did a double take, yea, she's that damn good. I booked Christine for a color job immediately after my cut. I cant wait and I'm so glad I found this gem! read more

The place is always bustling with locals who, like myself, enjoy the convenience of having many services all under one roof. Happy to hear she'll be expanding next door to offer a more comfortable space for her growing business. Tin has been a great addition to the hair styling team. The man knows color, his eyes light up just talking about it! We had some fun around Halloween, lifting and dying the ends of my boring black Asian hair into a vibrant fire engine red. The balayage was so professionally done, my boss at work didn't even blink an eye about my new rockstar tresses. Next visit we toned it down with a plum hombre effect and it was totally rad. He cut and styled it with some beachy waves and I felt like a million bucks! Yesterday, we chopped off the wild locks to sport a fierce medium lob with three different caramel/auburn notes. I got ready for my prom here, hair, nails, and makeup for not too bad of a deal, also there is a florist right next store who will do the flowers really well for pretty cheap so its super convienient! Zubeda's has brought much-needed salon and spa services to Medford Square. The haircut I received was excellent - Melissa T. had creative ideas, and I'm happy with the end result! I hope to try some of their other beauty services (nails, etc.) another time. The quality is comparable to salons I've visited on Newbury St. and in Charlestown, but the price is better because you're not paying a premium for location. The best part? It's a 2 minute walk from my house - no need to worry about traffic or parking. The inside is cutely decorated, and the staff create a friendly atmosphere - it was a nice surprise to meet the owner Zubeda, too. If you live near Medford Square, or even if you don't, Zubeda's is well worth a visit. read more

I have gone to Zubeda's a few times now - I went for the first time because I had a gift certificate, but I keep coming back because of the high quality work and the friendly atmosphere. Melissa is the best - she takes my garbled "I think I might want this...or maybe this..." and somehow turns it exactly into what I was looking for. She is professional, efficient, and very friendly...and the prices are very reasonable. When I went recently, there was a minor glitch in the booking system, and they didn't have me down for my appointment time. Rather than asking me to come back on a different day, the staff were incredibly apologetic, and then worked together to ensure they could still get me in, along with attending to the other customers. And it's just a super cute place. Everything is clean and very warm. The salon is decorated for Halloween, and the staff kept offering clients cider, tea and other goodies while they waited. It's nice to see that they take such pride in their business. I will definitely keep coming back, and will aim to try some other services too (massages, waxing, etc). read more

This review is long overdue! Zubeda is an eyebrow queen. Over the years I have lived on the north and south shore but have never been able to find someone I trust as much as her to wax and shape them. She is efficient yet pays attention to detail. She even takes me out in the natural light afterwards to give them one last look over. I've also gotten massages and facials by Zubeda, which were a little piece of heaven. She has hands of gold...It was so relaxing that I fell asleep on the table. She really worked with me to figure out what my skin needed and customized the facials accordingly. I left the spa glowing with a baggie of samples to try at home. One thing I've always loved about Zubeda is her straightforwardness - she always tells me what she really thinks is best and never pushes products and services on me. I know she has my best interest in mind and just wants me to look and feel good. I always look forward to popping in her chair and catching up, never without a good laugh too :) The salon & spa itself is gorgeous inside. Clean, comfortable, and peaceful. Everyone is super friendly and Lindsay always manages to fit me in when I call on short notice which is so much appreciated! What a wonderful salon from beginning to end! As I walked in, I got a warm welcome and waited for Ashlee who arrived shortly. She was friendly and bubbly and extremely professional and very good at what she does. My long hair was dry and full of different colors and for a very reasonable price she colored, cut and blew dry my hair and made it look beautiful. I have been going to Jess for my facials for over 2 years, and referred many friends- who also were very happy with the treatments and results. She worked at A Different Concept day spa prior to moving here. Prior to Jess, I've gone to multiple other establishments. She is the best. For the price, you get a lot done. She takes her time and is very meticulous. The experience is always relaxing, and without fail I've fallen asleep each time while she's massaging me. My skin has cleared up, since seeing her. She has given me product samples, but does not push products. She spends as much time as needed to clean, declog, and extract pores- does not rush. She also keeps extractions as comfortable and painless as possible. For the facial she starts with 1) cleaning and exfoliating your face 2) steams and opens up your pores for extractions 3) while steaming face, she massages your arms and hands and offers you warm mitts 4) then she meticulously cleans every clogged pore and sanitizes face afterwards 5) face massage 6) applies mask 7) massages your scalp and neck while the mask is setting 8) cleans face again and applies moisturizer. She does not stop and focuses on you for the entire hour. Going to anyone else has been a disappointment since she has set such high standards. I've only been here twice so far but it might be a new favorite. The first time, I had trouble making my app online and there was a glitch with the website. However, Zubeda took the time to resolve this for me and I received my first massage from her. I did not go back for a while because they do fill up quickly (at least for massages) and so I kind of forgot about this place. Then last week my chronic back pain was really bad and I could not get into my regular spa. I was able to make a last minute massage online with Ashley and SHE IS AMAZING. Once you're here, service is great. It's beautiful and clean and very relaxing. However, I've found it difficult to get ahold of them. They're closed Tuesday's and sundays. And when you try to book online you get through the whole process and then it says they payment process isn't set up. You also have to book somewhat in advance, so last minute isn't always best. I like a strong massage and she was on point! Facial was awesome too and really helped clear up my skin. Not a salon experience This was my first time for a hair cut at this location. I was greeted by my stylist- Jennifer. She didn't take my coat or purse so I awkwardly hung on to it while she washed my hair. I had to ask where to put it when we got to the cutting chair and she had my put it on top of her brushes console- which is really not classy or shows care for my belongings. The water was cold for washing my hair (she didn't ask if if it was OK), and she didn't do that nice massage thing that many other stylists do. She did a nice job cutting my hair but she did rush through it. She never gave me a mirror to show me what the back looked like and before I knew it, she said she was done and thank you and took the apron off me. BUT she didn't dry my hair! So I left the salon with a wet head of hair on a cold November day. I paid $47 and I was in and out in about 20 minutes. While the people were pleasant, my hair cut was decent, this was not a salon experience at all. I feel I overpaid for my haircut and I won't be back. read more

I have been completely satisfied with my haircut both times Ive been here. Tin was my stylist and he is great. I love how he doesn't "overcut" my hair. Ive always had stylists cut my hair an inch or two shorter than I wanted but Tin is so patient. He doesn't just chop my hair off, he takes time and makes sure I am happy with the length before actually finishing the haircut. The whole place is cute and clean. Parking is convenient right across the street. Zubeda's Spa is a gem in Medford. I'm going to be a loyal customer as long as I'm in MA. read more
