I have gone here three times now and the past two times have been very pleasant experiences. Not today. I was serviced by their male technician today and it's very clear that he's inexperienced. Several things made my experience a little unpleasant: he was too rough on my cuticles as well as my nails while filing my gel polish off during removal and buffing then before polish; and while he was painting my nails he kept mispositioning the polish bottle so excess polish got all over my fingernails. After my service I noticed how uneven and sloppy the polish was. I'm just bummed. I know he's probably newer and likely needs the experience but I just feel like his bosses need to train him better. Ive been to Chelmsford Nail and Spa about 4 times now. Experience has always been average. This last visit in particular was TOO much for me to not write a review about it. I have made appointments there before.. and had to wait about 10 minutes max to be seated. Which was tolerable. This particular time, I made an appointment for 2 people, and still had to wait 30+ minutes to be seated. Once we were seated, We still had to wait for 15+ minutes for a technician to even sit down with us. ( While we watched others,who walked in after us, get seated and worked on.) WTF!? A 45 minute wait for an appointment?!?! The only reason i didnt walk out was because i NEEDED a manicure for a wedding the next day. What is the point of making an appointment, if they dont even use the book? I feel like my time was disrespected. Evening plans had to be cancelled. I will never go back. The manicure itself was average. I did not get the full treatment with lotion and scrubby soap, as my friend ( who was next to me) did. Even though the price was the same. Sloppy work. Bad business. Love this place! I am so picky about nail salons and this place was awesome. The chairs are so comfy and the owner is very friendly. She was quick and precise. I got a shellac french and my nails have lasted for two weeks. The prices are the best around! $27 for french shellac and $25 for a pedicure. Their webiste also has great coupons that you can print out and get discounts. They offer group services and you can have girls nights at the salon. I was interested in hosting a mani/pedi service for a bridal party of 9 the day before the wedding. I contacted manager Tim Khiev by email on 7/29 to see if he would honor the current coupon special price for mani/pedi for the bridal party to be booked on 8/31. He promptly responded stating that he would honor the current deal and instructed me to print out the coupons and present on the appointed day. I then called the salon and booked the appt. a month in advance. On 8/31, I called to confirm our appt. and was told we were all set. We all arrived on time, and were immediately greeted and seated for services within 5-10 minutes as the existing clients cleared out. For approximately 60 minutes we were the only ones in the shop. When I asked if business was slow that time of day (2-3:30pm) the technician responded that they purposely did not schedule appointments during our time frame. I was impressed with this handling of our service. It made for an intimate gathering where we felt free to take the place over with conversation and laughter without feeling we were being loud or intrusive to other patrons. Our time in the shop was so much fun! The staff was very receptive, friendly and interactive with us. There was no sense of urgency, we never felt rushed. We had no problems with language/communication and they really did a fabulous job on our nails. Our services included basic and French min/pedi, gel, and a few girls added designs which were really unique and fun. The technicians told us to bring wine and cheese/crackers when we came back next time. Pretty brave on their part as we partied pretty well without it:). They all expressed appreciation of their gratuity which was well deserved. The shop is to be commended for their customer service on all levels. I went here last week to have an acrylic full set done since I was in the area and wanted to pamper myself. I gotta say that I'm pleased with the service I received! And that says a lot since I am EXTREMELY picky with my nails (I usually do them myself for this reason). I called ahead and made my appointment which was for 6:45 pm (an hour before closing). I got there 15 mins early, but I was served promptly, the ladies didn't mind (it wasn't busy, I'm not surprised considering it was a Thursday night). The lady who did my nails was quiet but attentive, and although there was a bit of a language barrier, she managed to do exactly what I described to her - it took a couple of trials but she didn't stop until I was absolutely satisfied and she kept checking to see if I liked my nails throughout the entire process, not once seeming annoyed. I'm very pleased with the service and may have to become a regular here. The only (slight) issue I found was that it was a little pricey - I paid $30 for the full set, $5 extra for a french, and another $5 for a gel top coat. I know that a french is usually $5 anywhere you go, but I know so many other places that do the full set for $20-25. But I supposed you get what you pay for, I would rather pay more to get a long-lasting mani than pay less and have all my nails chipping/breaking after a week. Plus, the lady told me to come back if anything happened to my nails and she would fix them! I must remember to ask her name next time... Super dissapointed. I have come here a couple times for pedicures and it just keeps getting worse. They need to upgrade their pedicure chairs and 2 of them were not working. The place is dirty and not at all an upscale place. The polish job was something I could have done at home. I am really in shock that they have let this place decline the way it has. Disappointed. With the atmosphere and with the manicure. Took my 12-year old daughter, we were taken right away for basic manicures ($13 cash / $14 credit each) and sat next to each other. Her manicurist asked how she was doing, and then proceeded to speak Cambodian for the next 20 minutes. My manicurist didn't bother to ask how I was doing, just got to work on my nails. I paid and tipped each woman $5 in advance of the service. The manicures were just OK. We could have painted our nails at home with the same results. Part of my nails have one coat, and the middles of each nail have the second coat. The edges of all my nails were missed during the second coat. They sat us at the drying table, said nothing, we dried for about 10 minutes and proceeded to walk out the door. We were never thanked for our business or told to have a nice day. These little things are what make customers come back, and we will not be coming back to Chelmsford Nail. read more

Stay away!!!! Not impressed. The photos posted on Yelp must have been taken when they first moved in. The place looks like it is not well maintained. The chairs looked old and somewhat beaten up. I still can't figure out the "spa" part of their name because it was clearly only a nail salon. I had a mani/pedi today with a friend. Hers took a half an hour longer than mine. I felt like the tech rushed me through. I did not feel pampered at all. I did not feel like a valued customer. The employee insulted me by pointing out that I have extra skin on my big toe. It's fat! I'm a large lady so obviously my toes have a little excess skin. She also pointed out a birthmark on my toe, like it was a contagious disease. After that, the tech barely spoke to me, and when she did I could barely hear her. She left a gouge on my thumbnail and I had to ask another tech to fix it. The original tech moved on to another customer and did nothing t finish the top coat on my nails, another tech did that for me. Overall, I'm not impressed and I will not be going back there. I spent $39 cash for a mani/pedi. I would have been better off spending more elsewhere. If you want to feel valued and pampered, do it yourself or go someplace else. read more

Do not go here. I went twice, the first time my gel chipped after a few days. I gave them the benefit of doubt, and came back for a dip manicure. After only a few days ( on vacation doing nothing) the dip started cracking and so did my nails. This has never happened to me with dip. I go back to get it fixed, and they tell me they are too busy and come back another day. Its Monday! I will not be coming back here. Bad product or application and BAD customer service. This nail salon is off route 110 and 495. Can't get more convenient than that if you ask me! Plus, the salon is situated in a plaza with a number of businesses, there's plenty of free parking. I've been here a number of times for a few different reasons. The first time I went, I made a mani/pedi appointment for 6:30 for a girlfriend and I (to catch up, vent, etc). Well, we got to the shop late and my H ended up joining us (he also got a mani/pedi). The girls took their time (and didn't show any annoyance with our party) and did a great job overall! We left at nearly 8:30... but I didn't realize the shop closed at 7ish! I felt sooo bad! Points! The other times I've come was just as a walk-ins and each person I've seen had done a magnificent job. One girl in particular does amazingly well and IMO outperforms the other workers. She came from Cambodia some time prior and speaks English with such fervor. I'll update once I can remember her name!! Overall, Chelmsford Nail & Spa is a really good salon. It boasts convenient hours, a number of talented employees (so you rarely wait long) with plenty of stations and a decent nail polish selection. Just a warning: it seems like there's a little room to the side where some of the employees take their children to be cared for while they're working. The kids aren't usually loud or distracting, but if you hear it- you're warned! It doesn't bother me. I think you gotta do what you gotta do! read more

I had a pedicure and gel manicure here. I went on a weeknight and it was pretty slow. The pedicure was soo long, I enjoy pedicures and was in no rush but the tech was ridiculously slow. The gel manicure held up pretty well, and was done to my request. My only complaint is that they don't have built in light boxes, so it's on the desk in front of you. Mine didn't have a timer on it, it was sensor controlled -- if my hand wasn't moving it would beep and shut off, then I'd move my hand and it'd beep and turn on. This was annoying, and not necessary. Overall this is an average nail salon, with competitive pricing. In an emergency I'd go back here, but wouldn't make it my everyday salon. read more

I discovered this salon about a year ago and was blown away by the service...initially. Wondering about the low rating? The first few times my mani, pedi and eyebrow wax were always perfect but all of a sudden the work became very sloppy. I would always have to scrap polish off my fingers, the water for pedicures would be freezing, my very clear instructions on how I liked my eyebrows was ignored. They also raised their prices last summer. That plus the decline in effort lost me as a customer. While cleaning a couple of days ago I found a gift certificate and decided to go in. The appointment confirmed that I will absolutely NEVER go there again( even though I still have a balance on my GC). I got there picked my color and she really rushed through my manicure , she didn't shape my nails, and didn't bother to completely remove the polish I had on before. She also stepped away to fix someone else's nails while I was sitting at her station. WHO DOES THAT?! Then when it came to my eyebrows I gave her very clear instructions to just clean me up but to leave the shape as it was. She says "I did the best I could" and hands me the mirror. Here's an idea if you don't know how to wax how about NOT doing it? Now every morning I have to take extra time to fill in my horrid eyebrows. For those prices I might as well pay a few more dollars and go to a spa in Boston. This place is no longer worth it. read more

Two experiences: - 1. Wax. I called for a leg wax. When I arrived I was told to sit in a chair in the public room. I asked how she was going to wax my legs in front of everyone and she said they don't do leg waxes any more. I rep[lied that I had scheduled legs over the phone because their website said they do legs and she apologized that the person on the phone must not have understood me. The tools she used were dirty, a used nail file, etc. She put on so much of the powder that she got it all over my finger tips. I used to love going here, and this review should in no way effect Tim and Lisa as individuals, rather their management. This place is great when they are in the store. All of the employees are attentive, accommodating, and nice. When Tim and Lisa are not present, however, customer service is lacking. If you walk in they usually tell you it's an hour wait, then if you go to leave that changes. Even if you have an appointment they never check the book. They are also more expensive than what is around, but I was willing to pay it before for the amazing service. The spa pedicures are great - I got the callus control both times and is a good substitute for the razor (although I wish the razor wasn't illegal now). I decided to go here on the fly one Saturday afternoon and I'm happy that I did. Selection of colors are great, and they have a wide variety of gel polish colors as well. The prices are very reasonable. My nail tech was amazing. I have to keep my nails relatively short or they just break. Most of the time a lot of people have trouble painting them without getting it all over my skin, or having to do a few minutes of clean up duty with remover. There isn't a drop of polish on my skin and my whole nail is covered. My gel polish came out amazing and I'm thrilled about it. Only downside is that the nail techs were having conversations in another language the whole time. I find it rude just because I always feel like they're talking about me or other clients, although i'm sure they're not. My nail tech even answered her phone and was talking on it for 5 minutes. It didn't distract her from doing my nails and they came out great so I don't care too much. I will definitely be going back soon! read more

I do not know how you did to make them give you good rate. I used to go to your place for a long time. you were treating new clients nice, and after we get used to the place and comfortable, you changed your attitude. Careless, loud and unprofessional! I read one of your reviews. I totally agreed with them. sometimes you did not do the laundry, when you run out of the towels. Do you know how I find out??? I one day accidentally open up your breaking room door when I was going to use the bathroom. I saw your employees took all the wet used towels from the baskets to put into that sink, rinse with water a little bit and fabric softener. And you put them back in the towel warmer machine. That's not sanitary at all. 4. when you were too busy one day, there was no sponge, Clorox, or soap. you just fill back the water in the sink when that client was picking out her color. and you let her sit in that dirty sink in front of my eyes. So I knew you must treated me and other people the same way. I'm sorry that I have to let the public now the truth about what was really going behind the scene in your place for public safety. Best nail salon I've seen. I work in Dermatolgy and I avoid nail salons because they notoriously are not sanitized well. I refuse to get toenail fungus from a pedicure as many of my patients have. Chelmsford nail & spa is extremely sanitary. Tub liners, sanitized tools, brand new file and buffer they use once & toss. I loved being able to choose my fragrance in essential oil, scrub and lotion for my deluxe pedicure. The staff was very nice. Great nail polish selection. I will definitely be going back! read more

I used to love this place when it first opened, but the last couple of times were not great at all. The woman who did my manicure this last time buffed WAY too much off of the top of my nails, but somehow they're rough. My nails were filed into very different shapes that did not go together well at all. I'm not sure if they added a filler to the nail polish, but I have never seen an OPI color that runny. I could clearly see where halves of my nails had one coat (barely) and the other halves had two. Maybe some of the nail technicians are better, but I am definitely never going back. read more

Today was my second visit to Candy Nails. My sister has been going here for awhile. She convinced me. I treated her in October to a pedicure for her birthday and it was my first pedicure. They have a very clean shop and do their pedicures upstairs. It was a very relaxing atmosphere. I got the pink and whites full set. Tim and Lysa are very friendly and welcoming. After my nails were done tonight Tim completed the service with a back rub. I highly recommend this shop to everyone. I was really excited when I first stopped into Chelmsford Nail and Spa. I had heard good reviews from people who had been to their other sites, so I thought I would try it out. The nail tech was wonderful, sat me right down, and introduced herself. She was pleasant and chatty, and very attentive. I loved that the deluxe pedicure let you pick out the scents you like for the scrub and lotion, versus them throwing anything on you. I watched as she opened a sanitized pack of tools. Everything went wonderfully, and I was so excited to have found a great, attentive, fairly priced nail spa. Until, that night! One of my great toes became very sore. I thought it was just from manipulation from the pedicure. But with in two days, it was infected requiring me to see the doctor to obtain antibiotics! Very disappointed that my afternoon of relaxation was at the cost of an infection! I can only conclude that their basin cleaning process is laking... I should have known better when I saw the sign offering foot basin liners for $5! read more

Not a fan!!! I had a pedicure and I ordered an express one. (The cheapest one) and she asked if she could scrub my heals, (I couldn't really understand her well, she mumbled) I answered yes because at every place I've been before would give me a good scrub since my heals get badly callused. They ended up using a cheese gater which I didn't mind on my bad heals but she also used it on the top of my toes, which they cut up and made me bleed pretty bad. 5 days later my feet still hurt from being cut by the grater and she cut my cuticle so bad I bleed there too!!! She also waxed my eyebrows which I have to say she did a great job on!!! No complaints!! My manicure was also terrible!!! She didn't listen when I told her the shape or length 3 times, then I gave up!!! She then did my French manicure and it was ok but not the best. After 4 days of normal wear and tear the nail polish started chipping and looking like crap!! When I do my nails at home they last longer!!! I just moved to Chelmsford and thought I would give this place a try, what a nightmare. On top of waiting 25 minutes for a nail appointment I had called and scheduled the customer service and work was awful. I have been doing artificial nails for 5+ years and I had to ask the technician to stop after one nail because it looked so bad. I asked for them to just polish them so I could leave and had to get redone elsewhere. On top of that they charged me just about the same price as the full service that I had to have them stop. be aware of this place!!! they are not ACTUALLY clean as they LOOK!!! they use the sterile pouches, but they don't do the process of sterilization. Because when they took out their tools from the bags to work on me, I could tell that their tools were still wet, so they must have been used their tools on other people shortly before they used on me. I got the infection from this place when the woman cut me bleeding. they really rush you out to get the next clients, no relaxing at all. the warm towels that they used to wrap the feel for deluxe pedi smell really bad when the shake the heat out of it. they might reuse the same towels without laundy or anything.
