My wife and I ate here many, many times in the 90's and early 2000s. It has been 23 years since we have been there and we were really looking forward to eating at one of our favorite places in Ft. Lauderdale. 23 years is a long time and things have really changed. I had my usual meat lasagna. It was very plain and not very tasty. The frozen lasagna I buy at Costo is much better. My wife said her meal was just Ok. Our waiter was not the best either. His name was Jonathan. He spent minimal time with us and most of his time at the table behind us. At that table was an older couple and their daughter that was about his age. Via the conversation he had with them we found out about his favorite TV show, how he was fired from a waiting job when he broke his ankle, and how he needs to move to another state to find himself a good woman. (as noted above, she was his age). He packed up their food and offered them fresh bread to take home. That offer was not extended to us. He was also arranged for them to get desert to take home. I am not sure if they were paying for it or not. As my wife and I walked out, we both looked at each other and said at the same time - there is no need to go back there. We both also thought that our ears hurt because of Jonathan's loud voice and the nonstop talk. The food is a good value but not very tasty. I think it was noisy but not 100% sure. It was Friday night at 7pm and half of the tables were empty. We had a wonderful dinner here. As we had eaten an early breakfast with relatives, we skipped lunch, and decided to have an early dinner. We wound up getting to the restaurant during their early bird. We were greeted warmly on entering. And by our server after we were seated. He brought us warm Italian bread with a container of very garlicky oil. And took our drink orders. My husband wanted some wine that they had but didn't offer by the glass. The server suggested a similar red blend which turned out to be perfect. After included salads (they also had two soup choices), we each had our entrees. The portions were huge. My husband had their spaghetti bolognese. The sauce was quite meaty. He really liked it. I had their crab ravioli. Large ravioli made of a light red pasta served in a lobster sauce with mushrooms, spinach, and whole baby shrimp. This was absolutely delicious. We both brought half our entrees home for a future dinner. Dessert was included. We had a choice of ice cream or key lime pie. We both had the pie. Very authentically tart. Prices were reasonable. Food was very good. Service was friendly. Who could ask for anything more? read more

A great Italian eatery on the North side of Commercial. Hot crispy crust bread with garlic butter is wonderful. I ordered the HH Spaghetti Bolognese which came with salad and dessert. Our server recommended a house blend red wine which paired well with my meal. Key Lime pie for dessert was tart and wonderful. The Ameretto is smooth and delicious. A very nice authentic Italian atmosphere. Our server, she was on point, very knowledgeable and very funny. We started with a very nice merlot with the egg plant and bang bang shrimp which were both great. The crab ravioli, chicken francese, bronzini, and the zuckerello chicken were all delicious. Came back to Zuckerello's, wanted to bring some friends. I made reservations because it gets very busy, specially with the snowbirds being here now. Parking is a little tight since you have another popular restaurant in the vicinity. We were taken to our table right away, waters were promptly brought followed by bread service with their amazing garlic spread. We ordered appetizers and entrees right away. Everything was delivered to our table at a very reasonable pace, we had plenty of time between appetizers and entrees. Service was very good despite how busy they were. I do recommend reservations. From the very fresh bread served when we first arrived to the final bite of Chicken Marsala, we enjoyed this meal and our very attentive, yet unobtrusive server. We shared a Greek Salad (delicious tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers in a tasty oil dressing) and some sauteed spinach as well. Plenty of food in a place that is obviously a favorite for locals. Zuckerello's was terrible and was not like any Italian food I grew up eating as the love of quality fresh ingredients and time honored cooking preparations and methods were not there. Even a basic understanding of Italian food was missing and this was just a poor imitation of Italian cuisine. It might have had items that were featured as Italian - Italian/American but Italian food in its most basic essence it was not. Prices were very reasonable and dinners come with bread and a complimentary salad and that might be a draw but what's the point of cheap prices if the food is so bad that it can't be eaten? We had several items and they were uniformly bad and I guess the standout was a shrimp dish with a heavy but flavor deprived sauce. The item was not expensive and I understand that shrimp for that price can't be the best but they were so bad that after a bite I gave up trying. A chicken item seemed like it was fried in cheap oil and the chicken quality was low and the sauce was devoid of flavor with the exception of an abundance of salt and really that is not how Italian food is served. The pasta was gummy and also of questionable quality. Service was fine, the host was friendly and bartenders were also nice. The garlic spread for the bread was the only thing that was good and if I went for just drinks and the bread my review rating would have been different but of course we went for food. I eat out daily and often go to Italian restaurants and this has to be one of the worst I've tried. read more

Very happy we found this place. At first it felt a little cold cause it was so big so we sat at the bar and had dinner. Fantastic experience from the moment we stepped in until the moment we left. The host sitting us was so happy, upbeat and personable. He's been there for like 25 years!!! We were seated quickly by a friendly hostess and had a great start to our meal. The iPad menu with pictures was a nice touch, and our server, Angela L. was pleasant. However, during our visit Angela made a deeply unsettling comment about immigrants that left us uncomfortable and disturbed. Given the current climate in America, such remarks are inappropriate and harmful. While the rest of the meal was enjoyable, this interaction has made us hesitant about returning. You know when you walk in on a Tuesday night and the place is busy, that this is a local favorite. There were plenty of senior citizens so it also signaled to me large portions, and good prices from the onset! Those seniors always know where to get the biggest bang for their buck! The friendly hostess sat us down and handed us the menus which are on tablets. I have a love/hate relationship with these things as I feel they are dirty but I love that the menu is easily updated and has colorful pictures of the food offerings. Our server, Ruthie, was over in a flash and was so friendly and personable, I wanted to pull out a chair and ask her to join us! My martini came out quickly, perfectly poured and while I sipped it I glanced around the room. There were many larger parties and clearly plenty of regulars as the servers were greeting people by name and knew their drink orders before they even sat down. We ordered simply- calamari to start and then veal Francese and chicken piccata. If I had a criticism it was that our appetizer and the entrees came out at the same time. We didn't want to send our entrees back but the timing could have been spaced better as we nibbled on our appetizer while we ate our dinner. My veal was good but the chicken was just okay. My friend commented that she had expected a light breading on the chicken and it came with none so if that is your expectation you may be disappointed. Or maybe order the chicken francese which is similar, just without the capers. The portions were big so there was enough to wrap up and take home for another full meal. There are plenty of Italian places in the area and Zuckerellos has been around for a long time so their large portions, friendly service and reasonable prices keep bringing people back! read more

We had a wonderful experience! We were greeted promptly with smiles and "hellos" and seated. The menus are little IPads which was unique. Almost every item has a picture. We started with mixed drinks and the fried calamari. Our waiter was thoroughly attentive and kept up with water refills. The bread is simple and good - it's the olive oil/garlic dipping sauce paired with the bread that makes it divine. The calamari was cooked perfectly- which can be hard to do. For the main courses we had Lamb Shank (special of the day- served with carrots) and the Crab Ravioli in Lobster Sauce. Both meals were spectacular and we each had leftovers. For dessert we opted for tiramisu- and wow! Melts in your mouth! We only ate half and took the other half home. First time dining here was on Valentine's Day. A little disappointed their 3-course special was not available but that was totally understandable. Kelly Ann our server was outstanding. Really the entire staff was exceptional! The manager came over twice to see how our meal was going. Loved both the minestrone soup and the Caesar salad. The lamb shanks and sides were all delicious! We were first-timers; now we're never-again timers. We went to celebrate with friends. My husband and I got there early to enjoy a cocktail at the bar. We enjoyed the Happy Hour prices. Next, we went to our table to enjoy a 36% off the ticket special. Great service from James, our new server on shift 4. Great food!! A wonderful time!! We got our check and asked for our 36% discount. No, you used the Happy Hour special, so no meal discount. We saved $5 instead of $30. RIP-OFF!! Never again!! Also, the rest of our table was denied the special (separate checks) because of our "mistake." They complained and got their discount. Also, Chirese (sp?) was totally argumentative with our friends. I know it was Christmas Eve and probably not an ideal time to go out to eat dinner. To start off, our reservations were not honored. Next our waitress was inexperienced and inattentive throughout the whole dinner... bad service is the start of bad everything. Menu was not explanative although the "smart menu" was a nice idea but definitely more time consuming to use, especially for older people. The chicken Marsala I ordered was more like chicken with brown gravy. No flavor of Marsala wine at all. I was disappointed. I had high hopes for this place that has a great reputation and long lines! I haven't been to Zuckerellos for ages and my buddy told me he was craving a big plate of spaghetti and meatballs. So where else to go but old school? Sunday at 3 pm for a nice Italian supper. Nicely greeted by the host and settled into a comfy booth. The server immediately brought some crusty bread with a yummy garlicky olive oil spread. I wanted a nice Italian house salad. You know, the one with lettuce, tomato, black olives, onion, peperoncini, croutons... What we got was a small bowl of greens with a hard wedge of tomato and a chunk of cucumber. I asked the server for some peperoncinis and this is where the language barrier became apparent. He thought I requested parmesan cheese. (Later I asked a lady on the floor and she said, "I don't think there's peperoncinis in the kitchen." At an Italian restaurant?!? Ok. ) On to the ordering! The menu is on a brightly lit tablet by sections. Props for innovation. My dining partner asked our server, and I quote, "Do you have a hefty serving of spaghetti and meatballs?" The server replied, "Only side dishes." Huh? "Spaghetti and meatballs only half dishes. On the side." Chagrined, he ordered what I had: chicken parmigiana with a side of spaghetti bolognese. I proceeded to pull up Zuckerello's menu on my phone and sure enough they had full entrees of what he wanted. I called the server over and showed him. He was flummoxed. He went to the kitchen to hopefully, we assumed, to rectify the situation. Shortly thereafter he presented our meals. Chicken parmigiana and spaghetti bolognese! I wondered, "Is he new? There's that language thing going on. We could barely communicate." I patiently showed him the menu on my phone and pointed to the spaghetti and meatballs. Finally he came back with the dish my friend desired. The good news is that our meals were delicious. Huge portions, enough to take home. Afterwards we ordered cappuccinos and a three layer dessert consisting of fudge, cheesecake and brownie. Yummo! Five of us tend to come every few months since Zuck's is one friend's fav comfort Italian restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. Usually we each pick a dish to share and inevitably it's the same five dishes every time! Beef Carpaccio is one of the best round, especially delicious with arugula, shaved Reggiano and capers. My choice is usually Linguini with Little Neck Clams. It's a no-brainer and hard to mess up. The Meat Lasagna is a great dish for sharing. The Rigatoni alla Vodka is rich and creamy. The Seafood Pasta is also very good in a Marinara sauce, with lots of calamari, shrimp and fish. Finally, the Burrata Salad is divine. And Zuck doesn't skimp on the fresh Burrata. Ok that's six dishes. Sometimes it's hard to choose! Plus finish it off with Tiramisu if celebrating a birthday. Food quality had gone down and we stayed away for awhile. Luckily now it seems to have come back. Service is usually very good and friendly. It's a nice comfortable atmosphere and not too loud like other restaurants can get. read more
