This truly is an amazing Italian restaurant. The ambience is a very relaxed atmosphere in a beautiful restaurant. The waitress.V is amazing super friendly and very accommodating. The food by far was probably the best Italian we've had in the city of Fort Lauderdale . We started with the arugula salad with Parmesan cheese. Salad was cold, crisp and very fresh and the light vinaigrette was perfect. My wife had the chicken Parm. When it came to the table, it was a beautiful size cutlet, perfectly breaded and fried and the sauce they use is absolutely amazing. A little tart, a little sweet. Just delicious..... I had the Pappardelle with mushrooms, spinach and prosciutto. It too was absolutely fantastic. It had their Pomodoro sauce with a little cream in it. The flavor blew us away. The pasta was cooked perfectly.. Now let's get to the most amazing thing which was their dessert. It was a apple tart with organic vanilla ice cream on top. At our recent vacation in Fort Lauderdale Beach good friends of ours introduced us to their favorite restaurant in the area which is Pomodoro A small mom and pop owned BYOB near the intercostal. Everything, and I mean everything is homemade from scratch using the best quality ingredients all coming together to provide a taste that is unbeaten on the Italian restaurant scene. Excellent fresh delicious bread served with a lovely infused olive oil, simply scrumptious. A simple arugula salad with shaved reggiano parmesan and an oh so light olive oil and free lemon dressing, yummy! Next we shared perfectly prepared shrimp over a white bean puree. Shrimp were quite large and cooked to perfection. White bean puree so light. We then shared a wonderfully light homemade lasagna. The sauce, the cheese, and the homemade noodles were just awesome! Perfect in every way. Our next trip to Fort Lauderdale will certainly include a trip back to Pomodoro! read more

I've had the pleasure of dining at Pomodoro, which I am sure takes its name from the well-known Pomodoro tomato based sauced, on several occasions and have found the food I've had there to be exceptional in preparation as well as in ingredient. I've had their Pizza Ai Funghi Selvatici and Pizza Quattro Stagioni, both of which I found to be not only tasty, but well prepared, rich in ingredient and flavor. However, and this is the good point, Pomodoro is more than a pizza parlor. It's in fact an Italian restaurant of comfortable décor with a good range not only of menu offerings but of daily special options. On my most recent visit I went for their menu choice of Tuna Carpaccio, a salad comprised of celery, caper berries, arugula, topped with quality paper thin slices of cheese, coated with a distinct to the taste lime enhanced vinaigrette. I found the flavor combinations were well balanced, each complimentary to the other as well as unique in composition. For my entrée I chose the spaghetti with clam, being one of what were five special not on the menu offerings of the night. When it arrived, the portion was huge but nicely presented and having far more in the shell fresh to the taste clams than any such dish I've generally had elsewhere. It was also expertly prepared, especially with its garlic ingredient which so many other establishments never seem to get just right, either by undercooking which gives an overly harsh garlic taste or overcooking which renders a bitterness. Pomodoro, as a restaurant, is basically split into two parts. One side of it is comprised of the kitchen area with a few small high table like seatings along with a counter dinning/stool seating arrangement. The other side is regular table and chair seat dinning. The entire restaurant is neat, orderly, organized and spotlessly clean. I've also found the service to be exceptional. On my recent visit, my server was Rob; a person I found to be light heartedly friendly, mannerly as well as helpful in that instead of just rattling off the night specials gave some insightful explanation as to each. As for rating I can easily go a solid Four Stars Plus, and I'm rather sure that after trying them a few more times for consistency, will most likely be updating to Five Stars. read more

Today I came with my family and had the I gamberi pizza with shrimp, garlic, pancetta, fresh herbs, tomatoes, and light cheese. Simply delicious! You could taste each flavor separately; the pizza was well balanced on ingredients and very tasty! I couldn't leave without trying (again) the homemade Tiramisu... And guess what? Pomodoro was highly recommended by an Italian friend so we went to check it out....sure enough it was outstanding, all of the pasta is made fresh daily by the owner/executive chef. The servers were very attentive and friendly and made us feel welcomed. A small plate of white bread and focaccia drizzled in olive oil was promptly served, it was tasty but I wish they would have warmed it up and served it with a nice aged balsamic. We started with the Beef Carpaccio which was a small serving but excellent, the meat was fresh, the arugula was perfectly seasoned with dressing, it was nice and dry and not overly wet, and the Caperberries were delicious. I had the Gnocchi, and I have to say it was it was the best Gnocchi I have ever had, it was so fresh, soft and tender , the tomato sauce was very good as well, very fresh and it came topped with fresh basil which wilted as I ate, it was very tasty. My partner had the Pappardelle pasta with prosciutto, I had a bite and it was ridiculous good. We had a bottle of Pinot Grigio and a bottle of sparkling water, the total was about $75, not bad for such a delicious meal. The server informed us that the owner believes in only using fresh, organic ingredients and free ranged meats, he doesn't like taking shortcuts and it is very clear by the flavor and the freshness of his cuisine. The owner is the same original owner who closed the restaurant in 2008, apparently he is divorced now and his ex doesn't work at the restaurant any longer. The restaurant was half empty and it doesn't appear like they have made any effort to create an online presence, so I hope others see my review and give this place a chance because I really want to go back and try other dishes :-) read more

I could have given four but , for silly things I can't. Had a reservation . For two @ 6:30 for bar then 7;00pm in dining room Sat in front of the big pizzas oven. That's were the chef/owner making his art come alive. 12 ' pizza with interesting topping . He never once greeted us , smiled o anything. He was in the weeds too This is where they loss a star. We gathered that the bar was more of a service station. So chef would put up pizzas and call a number table 5 . It sat there for at least 5-6 minuets no heat lamps . The mother in law was very sweet. We brought our own bottle , only $15.00 for corking fee. They put it in one of those gel like wraps. Different. Never poured it at bar or table. Plus we tipped on the $15.00 corkage fee. We did save a order of the fish some of Yelpers said they run out. I ordered the can't tell ya the name but it was pork tenderloin wrap with two cheeses and held together with toothpicks . It would have been nice if they removed them . It came with Burnt Brussels sprouts. I asked for Paddella pasta instead of my second veggie. No problem. Service at 7:00 busy, Howard our waiter was in the weeds and sweating . He was pleasant tho . Nice warm homemade bread drizzled with good oil. At the end of the meal the mother in law came and gave us homemade piece of decadent chocolate cake and sang Happy anniversary as well as some guest. Definitely going back maybe during week . So far we have tried many places ; some outstanding , some ok, and some we would not recommend to our worst enemies. Pomodoros has scored high in the scale of authenticity. From the focaccia the owner makes on a daily basis, to the pasta dishes using only pasta Fresca. The prices are not outrageous for food of such caliber. Ended up going there when another restaurant wouldn't honor a reservation, and have eaten there 3 times in the last two weeks. They have the quality and service of a much more expensive establishment, and treat their customers like valued guests. Their cappellini is perfectly cooked, their sauces are well seasoned , salads fresh, and pizza coming from their Bakers Pride oven taste like they are straight from Brooklyn Heights. The food was amazing. So fresh and delicious but the service was, by far, the worst I've ever experienced. The head waiter barely paid attention to anyone. Seemed like he spent more time near the bar than actually attending to customers. I saw 2 tables leave because of the lack of service while everyone else just waited for him to come by and serve them. There were only 3-4 other tables and none got good service that friday night. The support staff spent 10 minutes setting tables that were already clean, they just looked lost the whole time. There were 2 other restaurant workers, in addition to the 2 busser and head waiter, behind the bar preparing food but only 1 person could serve or help customers? Didn't make any sense. Good Italian restaurants are a dime a dozen around here, the at pomodoro doesn't outweigh the terrible service. read more

Finally an Italian restaurant that understands that a plate of pasta with a little sauce and a small amount of miscellaneous ingredients is not worth $30. Most of the pasta dishes are very reasonably priced between $14 and $18 and bottles of wines from $20 to $50. It was a Friday at 8pm and we were one of only 4 parties in the place, I was expecting it to be busier but we had a good time nonetheless. The roasted eggplant appetizer was very good, and I tasted 4 of the pasta dishes that we were able to share amongst ourselves. The gnocchi with pomodoro sauce was excellent as was the wild mushroom penne, the Penne al Cime and the paparadelle with short ribs. Would give 3.5 if I could. Definitely a good place if you want good pasta without the typical over inflated Italian restaurant prices. read more

Definitely talent in the kitchen but service was lacking. Asked for plain water no ice with lemon and it took 2 tries before they got it right. And I hate HATE paper napkins at dinner. Came in on a Friday without reservations and got seated immediately. Our server was very attentive and friendly and answered all of our questions about the daily specials. Ordered the arugula salad, which was simple but so tasty. You could taste the high quality of the ingredients, including the cheese. The house made bread was an onion focaccia with olive oil and was to die for! They were even kind enough to give us extra to dip our remaining sauce from our pasta in! The menu seems to change almost daily. One of us got the penne a la vodka and the other got one of the special pastas: a sausage and kale orecchiette dish. Both were super tasty but the special was absolutely delicious. It was served in a red sauce; the sausage was well-balanced and the flavors all worked so well together. Saw a sign that said the pasta was house made. Finished off with house made tiramisu and a cappuccino, which was a perfect ending and left us just the right amount of full!
