My boyfriend, friend, and I came here for dine out Fort Lauderdale. We did the dinner set and got the calamari. The calamari was ok and could been more crispy. It is lightly breaded. Peppers are not spicy. Thought the portion would been bigger cuz of the price. Idk why my sauce portion was very little compared to everyone else got velvet shrimp. I know it says lightly breaded but I wished it's crisper. Sauce not too bad but could add a bit more flavor. I got the beef tenderloin. Bigger than I thought. It was very good and juicy. I got it as medium. The mash potatoes with truffle tastes good. Could really taste the truffle. The sauces came along are good. Blackened grill salmon was good. Wished the mash potatoes had some flavor or gravy with it. Same for broccoli. I heard from my friend that chicken parm is not bad. We all did get cheese on chicken parm, and both mash potatoes. Chicken parm and salmon are petite menu size. The tiramisu was just cake and cream. I wished the cake was drenched with coffee but it's ok. With the cream, tiramisu is not bad. $45 for the dinner set is not bad for price especially getting the velvet shrimp and the beef tenderloin. I would get that entree again. We had a wonderful dinner last night . Our server Amara was lovely, professional, and attentive . We were celebrating a birthday and were presented with glasses of complimentary champagne to start the night . The dine out Lauderdale menu was one of the best I've seen. It included 3 courses and a glass of wine or a special martini . We started with pasta fagioli that was so authentic and delicious. One person had fried shrimp with a scampi sauce ! Outstanding . We all had their signature lasagna, which in my opinion has always been the best in broward county. For dessert was tiramisu. It was light and not too sweet. Came here to celebrate my granddaughters extended first steps! There were 5 adults and My granddaughter! Our server Judy was very friendly. They were extremely busy, so we were grateful we had made reservations. We ordered a few appetizers; mozzarella sticks, meatballs and ricotta, and burrata and prosciutto. All were beautifully presented and they all tasted delicious. The mozzarella sticks were perfectly fried. Not too greasy and the cheese was a good quality. The meatballs just melted in your mouth. The burrata and prosciutto were a nice smooth and salty starter. For the entrees, two people got the Filetto Anelli, the beef tenderloin and porcini mushrooms were a wonderful combination. Another had the petite lasagna and it was a very good size (especially with the wonderful appetizers). Finally, an order of petite francese chicken which was very citrusy flavorful and tender. I enjoyed the petite house salad and balsamico chicken. It was a balance of sour and smooth. The chicken was soooo tender. It was my first time trying a chicken prepared this way and I enjoyed it very much! We also ordered a side of broccoli for my granddaughter. It was very good and she enjoyed it. The restaurant is decorated nicely and a great place for a date night or if you want to enjoy a really high end Italian meal. I would've ratted it 4.5. I didn't give it a 5 only because we had to wait too long for our check. My granddaughter was very good, but we shouldn't have had to wait as long as we did after asking for the check. I took my daughter here for her 13th birthday. I explained that it was her first time here. I would have given this place 5 stars if they had been more hospitable. But they weren't. We had the velvet shrimp appetizer which was good. Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and the filet mignon entree. Everything was cooked well. For dessert we had the very light tiramisu and the zeppole. The filet needed less salt and the Zepole need more sugar on them. I was kind of shocked they charged me with my kids dessert since it was her birthday but like I said they weren't very warm or hospitable so it's on brand. I came in for a complimentary burger I received via mail. But also ordered a pasta because it's an Italian restaurant and you can't go to an Italian restaurant without trying their pasta. The burger took awhile to come up but it was really really good! I would say between the burger, the sauces, and the fries I would give it a 9.2/10 I also got the cannolo and it was really good! I would come back just for that dessert! The pasta on the other hand is cooked with fresh ingredients but it was not mind blowing, especially for the price. It was good service, very professional, and the pasta came out quickly. I ordered the petite entree, and that is enough for one person--especially if you are being mindful of not eating too many calories lol. But all in all: the pasta was ok for food-per-price. Yes, it was fresh, but it wasn't amazing or to die for, and the price is a little expensive for the taste. This traditional fine dining Italian restaurant located in the Victoria Park area in Ft. Lauderdale is known for its homemade pasta and classic dishes. We sat near the bar in a round booth. They brought out delicious garlic rolls with plenty of garlic and olive oil. We shared the Arugula Salad $17 and I had the Fish Francese and substituting with angel hair pasta $36. We started with an appetizer off the special menu that were fantastic. Little fried cheese balls stuffed with different cheeses and something else. So good. I ordered off the special menu for my entree the Chicken Parmigiana with a alla vodka sauce spaghetti. My husband got the shrimp scampi. Both were outstanding. They gave us garlic rolls smothered in garlic. I loved them but my husband thought the top of the rolls were too hard. I did order a small house salad and the house dressing was incredible. So we arrived to the restaurant and waited at least 5 minutes for the hostess. We didn't mind waiting, but there was no acknowledgment or apology from the hostess for having to wait. We were seated at a booth and even for the server to arrive took a while, another 15 minutes or so. Once again, there was no acknowledgement from the server that she was tied up or busy. Came here for dinner last night for the first time. Restaurant was half empty so we got sat immediately. I love the half circle booths they have, but my friend and I sat at a table against the wall. Our server was nice and attentive/informative. For our food/drinks, we ordered Paloma's (not the best) and had the burrata and prosciutto appetizer as well as the mozzarella sticks. They also give you complimentary garlic rolls. Everything was super good appetizer wise. As for our main dishes, I got the fettuccine alfredo and my friend got the chicken Parmesan. My pasta felt a tad over cooked and could have used a smidge more sauce, but overall it tasted yummy and was a large portion. My friend enjoyed her dinner as well. It was my first visit to il Mulino after passing this restaurant so many times and saying, "I want to try this place" Finally we had the occasion to go with friends on a Friday night before a show. We had a reservation and were greeted and escorted to our seats immediately. Our server brought bread and dipping oil to the table and took our drink order promptly. The atmosphere was very comforting. It felt like an Italian restaurant. I was not very hungry so I ordered the seafood salad which was such a good decision. It had marinated shrimp, calamari, scallops and mussels on a bed of lettuce with other great salad veggies and a lemon dressing. It was so good and just filling enough. My boyfriend ordered the chicken parmigiana with fettuccine and bolognese sauce. It was also very good. We were too full for dessert. Parking was around the back of the building and the prices were very fair. I am happy I finally visited il Mulino and I now have another Italian restaurant on my list of good places to go! read more

She provided excellent recommendations, knowledgeable about the dishes, and friendly. We had the bruschetta to start. Truthfully this was good but not the best I have had. Nothing was wrong with it, just nothing that stands out. Now the garlic knots are top tier! Soft and extra garlicky! Now onto the Star, the shrimp scampi. They have their own take on he way they do it. They butterfly the shrimp and have a bread crust in the center. This dish was flavorful, filling, and worth every calorie. The customer service was great but the portion sizes were crazy $20 for spaghetti with red sauce and ONE SINGULAR meatball that was the size of an OK symbol you do with your fingers my friend said the flavor was pretty bland and needed seasoning. $25 for a shrimp scampi with 2 pieces of shrimp. The flavor was good on this. Bread was complimentary but was completely loaded with way too much garlic. The Caesar salad was good but wasn't the best I've ever had. The appetizer bruschetta could have had more flavor more basil it was Lacking a lot even salt which you have to ask for they don't keep it at the table. I'm a little reticent to write this review for Il Mulino - they've always been a really popular Italian Restaurant and I'm afraid even more people will want to go there after I rave about them. Ah... but then I remember that they never used to take reservations. It's the reason we started going there less and less often - it was so crowded and the wait times were often over 45 minutes. BUT... now they take RESERVATIONS!!! YAY!! And they honor their reservations - our table of four arrived right on time for our Saturday night reservation and were seated right away, even though there were several people waiting that didn't have reservations. And they were BUSY. The food. THE FOOD! Homemade pastas, sauces and pizzas, as well as chicken, beef and seafood dishes. They now even have a PLANT-BASED menu!! Unbelievable, especially since I'm vegan. They still have the old favorites on the menu, but they've added so much more. From the vegan menu, I tried the Pizza Rossa with sun-dried tomatoes, portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, cannellini bean purée and vegan mozzarella - SO GOOD!!! My husband (a meat eater!) tried the special sandwich called an Anelli, of which they have four types, and in which pizza dough is wrapped around a juicy filling. I know what you're thinking... no, it's nothing like a calzone - so much better. He had the filetto - beef with onions, porcini mushrooms and mozzarella. It came with a side of cheese tortellini and he was in heaven. Our cousins shared a house salad, braised short rib rigatoni and the whole wheat linguini with broccoli and not a morsel was left on their plates. They took an Anelli home to share the next day. The atmosphere is comfortable, the service was great - Lisette our server was attentive and perfect, we were never rushed, and the food is even better than I remember it being - back when they didn't take reservations. They have a plant-based menu as well as a Petite menu which has smaller portions of the same favorites, although when you taste the food you'll wish you had ordered a larger portion! Cocktails were also terrific - a perfect gin martini, a yummy basil-strawberry sangria and a few excellent glasses of wine. We are back to making Il Mulino our regular place! read more

I am so upset! You changed the calzones! I used to drive four hours just for you guys. Came here on a trip and it's a calzone Stromboli now. It tastes nothing like the old calzones, there's no flavor, there's no regatta cheese. It was basically bread with pepperoni inside. It was gross! I don't know how you can even call this a calzone. 30 dollars to just throw it away. I took three bites. Waitress says she's been here a year and that's how it has always been. I am so upset! This is my go-to Italian restaurant when I crave their delicious food. It happens to be in my neighborhood which makes it so accessible for me and my friends. Excellent menu and great service every time! They treat us like family and always welcoming with a smile. I am partial to their Lasagna and the garlic rolls are to die for! Chicken Milanese is done to perfection as is their Bucatini Americana. There's so much to discover on the menu. I say just go and see for yourself. 5/17/24 I can't believe it's been this long since I left a review for Il Mulino. We come here often when we want good Italian food and lovely atmosphere. Vesalina always takes good care of us. The food comes out quickly and piping hot. This evening I chose the pasta special that had shrimp and scallops in a lobster cream sauce. Hubby had to have his go to chicken parmigiana with spaghetti topped with meat sauce. Did I mention all of the pasta is homemade and fabulous! We were a family of 5 on a Saturday night. The food was delicious but our 3 stars is based on the poor attitude/service of our server. Our server was Gigi. We never received an introduction, just straight to "are we ready to order?" With a very clearly irritated attitude. I assume because we came in the last hour of service which should not affect our experience. While ordering she was simply unamused, a smile was never seen until we were leaving. No help or suggestions on the menu when we were asking questions. My husband ordered a sangria which he did not like and sent back, she just took the drink, and didn't offer to replace it with another. A simple "I apologize was there something wrong with the drink or can I bring you something else?" Is a simple solution but she said nothing and just took the drink. We all come from backgrounds in the restaurant industry so we're very respectful and even still tipped more than 20%.
