Literally the worst store in all of east village. Employees are rude and took 1 hour to perform a simple refund. I was interrupted and asked for my ID, even though nowhere on their website states that you need an ID to do a return. One of the store associates also told me I was acting like a child for making a return. Employee upsold me wheels that I literally said would give me wheel bite. I checked the setup after buying to see if I'd get wheel bite; I did. I bought risers to try to fix it without causing an issue. (They had risers but didn't tell me they didn't have screws for the risers I bought.) So now I'm just holding $260 worth of stuff I can't even use (was intending on going home with.) I then desperately plead to see if I can get an exchange on the wheels I originally wanted because the employee told me not to get them and that the wheels she recommended were better. Even after I told her they'd give me wheel bite. I only ever bought them on the assurance I wouldn't get wheel bite. The staff mocked me for asking for an exchange and I ended up getting upset obviously at being mocked for wanting a rightful exchange . (I hadn't used the wheels, I had no plan on buying them but the employee insisted & assured they would work; a franchise company should have reseal and labels to fix unused product. The whole issue seemed to be over "the product being opened." ) The guy behind the register then even goes as far as to imply I'm lying by saying he has his own board with the same wheels (which are clearly like 55mm wheels, the ones she gave me are like 60mm.) So now I'm just left frustrated and flustered after basically being called a liar. As I go back upstairs to ponder my decision of trusting these employees the supervisor comes in super demeaning saying "if you were at a restaurant and had a dish you didn't like, they wouldn't exchange it for you." First of all Any decent establishment would do it for their customer. This is a blatant "we don't care about you." He then does his own exchange on the sly switching the riser pads I bought for smaller ones and putting the screws back on a single truck. (I wish I paid attention when he did because he did NOT tighten them good.) He told me to do the other truck saying "if you're a skater why would you listen to the girl telling you the get the wheels?" Now I'm completely dumbfounded You're basically saying these people have no idea what they're talking about And I'm the idiot for trusting them...... The entire time he's just trying to pin the blame on me somehow when all I wanted was the wheels that were cheaper. They acted as if the wheels I had were garbage because they had no wrap on them . Terrible customer service all around. New management definitely needed the guy functions like a teenager, complete lack of accountability. Moral of the story Before bombarding a customer just to try to get commission out of them, actually ask "do you actually skate or do you need help?" That would've resolved the issue in the first place because I never needed help to begin with but was pestered with non stop questions and caved. PS you guys also owe me the risers you switched out. The supervisor there would rather use their last pack of riser pads (which I heard another customer ask for as I was leaving/ he didn't get them LOL.) To sneak an exchange to try to shut me up than actually exchange the wheels to help me out. (There was also an abundance of the wheel I wanted too. The ricta cloud 55mm White and blue.) There was also no form of apology for the disrespectful attitude of the employee behind the register from him or the supervisor . The actual girl who sold me the wheel wasn't rude, she was nice it was a misunderstanding that blew out of proportion due to the poor attitudes of the staff. The kicker of it all was that I didn't notice until I after I left so I was just left absolutely bummed at the fact I spent $260 and had to walk home... The staff was super friendly and the female employee helped me find a helmet that would fit my head. Really appreciate her. But I also wanna give a shout out to whoever to played Sleep Token over the speakers. I had never heard of this band before I stepped into this store but once I heard "Take Me Back to Eden" I just had to Shazam the song and listen to the whole thing after I left. Need to rethink their policies. I bought on line for at store pickup. They even have listed on line and in the order is ready confirmation email that they offer curbside pickup. I went in to get it and was told I had to buy a mask to come in and that they wouldn't bring it out to me instead. So I left, purchased a mask, and picked it up. It was beyond hypocritical that the employees on the floor were standing around talking with their masks down at their necks. Come on, this is poor policy all around. read more

The staff is super awesome! They overheard my boyfriend and I talking about anime and directed us to a wall where it was full of DBZ merch! I don't usually feel comfortable in stores but the way the staff interacts with you, you'd think they are your friends. About a year ago I went to Zumiez to get a skateboard (complete one, of course) and it was the best experience ever. I was completely nervous and the woman helping me assured me by allowing me to test the skate board out for me that was just looking at it but still her kindness warms my heart to this day. I plan on buying another skateboard tomorrow with my boyfriend. Can't wait to see the wonderful staff!! read more

bad experience every-time I go in. The workers here ignore you and act like giving good customer service is a difficult task. They're on their phones and spend about 3 seconds helping you once you ask them before they basically told me to buy something or leave them alone. Went here yesterday with my sons. My youngest and I were DONE shopping so plopped down on the couch and let the 13 year old go on about his business. I have to say, I'm absolutely shocked at the negative reviews of this location. The staff was amazing! They were engaging to us lazy ones on the couch and also spent at least 30-45 minutes with the teenager to make sure he found everything he wanted. We have been to many Zumiez stores and this one was the most impressive to me as the "old fart" momma. read more

I bought a Penny Board here. Looked around a few places before deciding on it against a longboard. The staff was really helpful. I even skated there the next week to personally thank the guy who helped me pick the board. this is the only Zumies in Manhattan. There was one near me when I lived in New Jersey. Racist !!!! Manger very unprofessional . My boyfriend is of Hispanic decent and i am asian(my boyfriends friend was African) . I used to be a very frequent customer , even the sales reps know me. Until last night when my boyfriend was purchasing 4 pairs of sneakers for himself & shorts,socks for myself . A total of 395$ my boyfriend gave the cashier his credit card and ID, as soon as the manger seen we were about to purchase he came up next to the cashier. He actually took my boyfriends credit card before processing from the cashiers hand starts saying he has never seen a chase credit card before & asks us why we had a zappos chase credit card (why are you asking why we have a credit card? non of your bees wax )& actually takes his Personal cellphone to call the credit card company!!! Inputs my boyfriends credit card number( why are you using your personal phone, how do i know you not taking down my credit card information?) He finally confirms that it was not fraudulent . I said out loud that "It was very unprofessional & rude as he was on the phone with my boyfriends credit card company infront of me with out asking my permission" & he did not respond (we were the only non-causaian people in the store beside the sales reps). After confirming that the card was real, he then said to the cashier "Oh it is real" as if he was thinking it was fake or we were mischievous . When we had already pulled out the cash for the purchase . Even the cashier felt uncomfortable with her mangers actions. By this point I was very upset by his actions (no apology ) that we didn't even want them to receive a penny of our money no matter how much we wanted the merchandise . We took our credit card and cash back & told them to have a nice day . He had nothing to say because he knew we was wrong . Never in my 24 years of living in NYC have a seen a racist action like this done in a retail store. I used to love this store but until the manger is fried or leaves i will refuse to purchase anything from that location. P.S Previous to this incident , I had ordered clothing to be shipped to my home from their location , it was a month& i never received the package. I told them they said there was nothing they could do. After a month & half i was told i would receive my $ back after finally confirming they took down my address incorrectly and no longer had it in stock.... read more

hands down... one of my FAVORITE places to shop for my boys. boyfriends, brothers, boys that are friends. you get the point. it's not just "skater" stuff here! they carry everything from boards, backpacks, dope shoes (adidas, supra, nike, vans) and hats/t-shirt/clothing from names like: 10deep, Acrylick, Akomplice, Element, Crooks & Castles, Diamond, Obey, Mishka, LRG, Neff, Stuffy and of course... many more! i can't compare Zumiez to Yellow Rat Bastard of Blades. it's just more focused on "style" and "fashion", not just boards and crazy expensive snow/skate gear or JUST t-shirts. i like the layout and displays. however, the check-out area gets a bit "crowded" and confusing. when there's more than 3-4 people in line, it kind of snakes around a few accessories racks without much room or you're crushed by the stairs. other than this, the store is amazing and so are the staff! every single sales associate was warm, cool, fun to talk to and very chill. no attitude, no pretentiousness. they were all so helpful and made me feel good to shop there. Zumiez is nostalgic for me- i used to shop at the store located inside a mall in the suburbs 15 years ago (when i was a teen). they have changed it up a lot and include hip-hop/street wear now and feature more brands than the usual "skater shop" might. i love it. read more

The world need to know this. I went to NY 2 times. Both times I was looking for Crooks & Castles stuff, but couldn't find it anywhere (BK, Manhattan, Queens...). I even Twitted to the Crooks & Castles account and couldn't get a answer. Then I found Zumiez. It's the only store where I could find Crooks stuff in NYC. They had others brands like Obey and all that. I met Justin there who is funny. If you love Obey, Crooks, and A$AP Rocky, this place is for you. Called earlier today to see if they carried a specific product. Noelle answered the phone and was extremely helpful in locating the item and putting it on hold for me. Upon my arrival to the store, the staff was very friendly and Noelle was knowledgable when assisting us with our decision making. From now on, I will choose to shop this location over the 34th street store (even though it's more convenient for me) because the union square staff blows them out of the water in customer service! read more

A dope skate shop+ [+ means they have more than just skate stuff...clothes, accessories etc.]. I only shop here for skate parts and shoes, and I'm very satisfied with what they have. I also dig the buy-online-pick-up-in-store thing Zumiez does for free. It's a great way to get something you want from a distance and pick it up in person to inspect it or whatever other purpose you may have. Now as far as the store itself, I love their selection of shoes, boards, wheels, bearings, grip, hardware and even skate tools. Sometimes they are lacking on wheels, but that's no big deal to me. Anthony upstairs is mad cool, in fact, all of the staff and the manager are super cool and helpful too, so don't hesitate to ask for help or suggestions. There's very frequently sales going on, like buy one get 50% off, etc. Decent prices otherwise, like MSRP or slightly lower, but not a wallet killer. I've been to the one on 34th street, in fact, that's the first one I went to. It's cool there, but too many tourists. This store feels more like a skate store to me, so I show my support. Nice selection of clothes and boards. The staff on the other hand was not very helpful and tried to upsell me on the skateboard packages. There was one staff member helping me and my brother with a deck and he was extremely unprofessional in giving advice (very arrogant and constantly citing his 10 years of experience with skateboarding while giving us questionable advice).
