Zuri! The name is a nod to the owners home, Zurich. And you can taste every bite of inspiration from western Europe in this shop! There is an actual "Zumex" juice maker for the freshest OJ you can find, bread shipped in from France, and homemade granola unlike anywhere else in the state. We stopped in here on our way back from Lake Tahoe to San Francisco and so happy we did! I walked out the door with 6 bags of granola and a deli sandwich that tasted just like the ones from the streets of Paris. My husband and I have been avid fans of Zuri coffee for the past 2+ years. The flavor of the beans is so smooth and robust. We thoroughly enjoy the taste. When we go out, we will order coffee and truly nothing compares to the taste of our Zuri coffee. We prefer to make our coffee at home now. Crowded parking lot. Probably because the DMV shares the same lot! First time in. Didn't quite get the friendly vibe that many other reviews mentioned but no big deal. Counter staff were a bit busy, so I'll give them a pass on that. The mocha was hot, the coffee strong. Maybe could've used a bit more of chocolate taste (but others' taste buds may vary). I also selected an almond croissant to munch on and that was delicious. Only thing that would've been better is if I had asked to have it warmed up. I first stumbled upon this coffee shop when they were celebrating their anniversary (can't remember how many years, maybe 5) and while I hadn't known I was welcomed to a glass of wine and live music. Since they whenever going to the health food store next door, I try to stop in for some of their vegan treats (the power balls are amazing and pastry items are delicious. Would love to see more vegan items on the menu (or at least dairy free, since the dairy allergy is very common and intolerance to dairy is becoming more noticed. I also love their sandwiches and anyone I have brought was disappointed (they sure give a great alternative to Wild Cherries and Coffeebar)! I've been coming to Zuri frequently since they opened their business here in Truckee, I think four years ago. The things that keep me coming back every day are a great latte, tasty treats and a warm, inviting staff. The oat milk latte is my favorite--it is always creamy and never bitter (the oat milk they use is very good, it's not too sweet for my taste). I often grab one of their parfaits, which is the perfect breakfast. I'm pretty sure the granola is homemade, the yogurt is creamy, along with the berries--making the perfect morning treat. And of course, when you walk in there is a tempting assortment of pastries-- those too are scrumptious. They also serve sandwiches, salads, bagels, and crepes. The friendly and welcoming atmosphere is the other reason I enjoy going there. The owners Werner and Esther are very nice--Werner always takes his time to chat with the customers and will come and chat with my husband and I when we are there. I see Esther in there from time to time and she is very nice also. The staff are excellent humans--they are all so kind, friendly, and welcoming. They are happy, energetic, and hardworking. The combination of great coffee/food and great people make it the best cafe to visit in Truckee. I definitely recommend checking it out! read more

Came in with a group of four to get some coffees. I saw a picture of their hot chocolate with the roasted marshmallow and wanted one so bad! Unfortunately they don't do the marshmallow anymore but the hot chocolate was still so delicious. Everyone else in the group really enjoyed their coffees. The only one complaint was that the americano was so hot it couldn't be sipped for about half an hour! We didn't get any food. The place was pretty busy. The decor is pretty nice and cool. The atmosphere has a modern rustic charm, and gives off a friendly vibe. The staff is really friendly as well! Their iced chai is incredibly smooth, light and refreshing. The avocado bagel and lox makes your mouth water right as it is placed in front of you as it gives off flavorful scents of dill and smoked salmon. Their chocolate Truckee Crown has a flaky, buttery crust with a silky bitter chocolate filling, and it tastes amazing. I wish I lived closer so I could come back more often! They have great taste in music. They have 3 different flavors of chai and did a good job explaining the difference to us.
