Today was my first time in Zuri Coffee and it was an amazing experience. I came in to get a mug as a gift for my friend, unfortunately they were out of mugs. BUT the staff was still incredibly helpful and sweet. The owner, Werner, went above and beyond to find a solution to the coffee mug fiasco. The drive from Reno regardless would've been worth it for their granola and chocolate croissant, the fact I will also end up getting a mug for my friend was the cherry on top. Incredible products, incredible staff, incredible owner. Can't recommend them enough. read more

Best coffee place in town. I normally love Starbucks but for the entire week in Truckee I never once went because Zuri Coffee just beats them by far! The owners are Swiss and as an Austrian I had a lot of fun chatting with the various mountain folk that I miss so very dearly. read more

This place was pretty solid. I prefer the coffee at Dark Horse, but the food selection really was spot on here. Everything was made with lots of effort and tasted fantastic. I was originally a little frustrated because I asked for a short iced latte- because I like my drinks on the stronger tasting side. Apparently the barista didn't get the memo and I received a regular iced latte. I really wanted more so I went up to order an additional shot of espresso. What a gem! Being from Switzerland ourselves we had high expectations when we walked in. The place blew our mind, the coffee is one of the best we ever had and the pastries are heavenly. Due to covid restrictions (and the cold) we had to eat in the car. Once we were done with the delicious croissants and chocolate croissants we went back to get seconds for the road! Oh, what can I say. This place is the go-to stop any time I drive down to the Bay Area. My boyfriend comes in here daily because he works at the hospital. Macha Latte!? Hell yes - 5 Stars Double Shot Espresso con Panna (espresso with whipped cream) - There's not enough stars to rate this Lox Bagel - Oh hell yaaaa - Perfect. Love Capers and Onions on my Lox. This place is super funky, hipster, very Berkley-ish vibe. Everyone is always nice and it's Truckee so they know you after one visit. The outdoor seating is awesome. These pastries are perfect! I love the cranberry-orange scone and the breakfast basket with bacon. Nom nom. Their sweet staff handles a rush like pros. My favorite bakery and cafe. If you can, pick up one of their ready to eat sandwiches. I like the salami or prosciutto with Gruyère and arugula. The best!! It's a nice place to sit on your laptop or chat with friends. I sent my friend to Zuri a few days ago and she said she had the best scone she has ever had in her life. I stopped by and got my wife a coffee from Zuri a couple days ago and she asked me where I got the coffee from. I asked why and she said it was one of the best coffees she's ever had (not kidding). However the best thing in the world is the Homemade Granola. This stuff is insane - you have to try it. I am going to buy it by the truck load so I can give it to my friends and clients as gifts. Food: Very good. The pastries were excellent, everyone in the group was happy with their breakfast order. Coffee: Not good. They do not offer drip coffee. The coffee you order cones out of a machine, and is very weak. We think that maybe the machine is making an americano of sorts, but it tastes like a Keurig machine. A friend ordered a triple shot latte, also very weak. Disappointing, considering the price. Went over to Wild Cherries for $1 redemption coffee. read more

Amazing sandwiches for really reasonable prices, and the chai that I had was top notch

I grew up in Truckee and I have to say that I cannot get enough of Zuri; There's no place quite like it. My Mom was born and raised in Switzerland and my family loves having an authentic Swiss cafe in the Tahoe area. The food and drinks are amazing and the customer service is truly something special. Werner, his family, and his staff care so deeply about their shop and their customer's experience. They're so friendly at the register, the kitchen crew and baristas are great, and Werner and Esther are constantly checking in with people to make sure everything is perfect. They clearly put an incredible amount of time, effort, and passion into running everything. Everyone in the shop, from the staff to the customers, is happy and friendly and the ambiance is awesome. As for the menu, my favorites are their crepes and their bagels; I would have one every day if I could. Especially their nutella crepes and their breakfast bagel with avocado and sausage. And everyone in my family loves the baked goods, as well! Their hot chocolate is by far the best in Truckee. I'm not much of a coffee-drinker, but my family LOVES coffee and they're as attached to Zuri as I am. If you're looking for a coffee shop with a great atmosphere, unbeatable customer service (seriously!), and amazing food and drinks, do yourself a favor and check it out. read more

Its great! I tried a wide sampling of their coffee and it was great! Zuri Espresso, Guatemala Drip, House Drip, cold brew, and Nitrogen Cold brew. (yes really, but I shared with friends) It was wonderful! The coffee was all great and the service was as well. The Nussgipel was excellent (house made) . If you want to have a great cafe experience and actually support a local coffee house (its corporate neighbors will remain unnamed! :o) then by all means stop in and treat yourself to a lovely experience. read more

Was excited to try some of their vegan options but ended up leaving because they were not wearing their masks correctly. Masks need to be covering noses or they're much less ineffective. I was very disappointed that food workers were not abiding by health regulations and actively putting their customers in danger. I hope they change!!! read more

Disappointed in our experience here. We gave it two tries, but let down on both. The first day we came through at 730 and the COFFEE shop was out of coffee.. That just doesn't seem right. So we still ordered food and took it to go as we were on our way to Palisades to snowboard. Food was good that day (only reason for 2 stars), so the next morning we thought to give it another try in hopes to try their coffee, which we were able to this time. We ordered food to go again and hit the road. Now if you know the area at this time of day on a sunday you leave the parking lot straight into traffic with no real way to get out as you are in Slope traffic. So i opened my food and they gave us the wrong order. I couldn't eat what they gave me because I cant have dairy... So now I was stuck in an hour traffic with no food before we hit the slopes. I called and asked for a refund and the girl I spoke to was talking to the mgr asking what to do. The manager was very rude and there was a back and forth saying they gave me the correct thing. Finally I repeated what I was supposed to have and what they actually gave me and I think they realized by what they had just made that they did mess up.. After I told her for the 3rd they then realized it was wrong. I received no apology and told them there was no way to come back as we were in the thick of traffic. After this exchange I wanted a refund for both sandwiches but they would only give it to me for one. The manager in the background said it was ridiculous and said no refund for both sandwiches. terrible customer service on how this was handled, and I cannot believe the way the manager was talking in the background. She must not have known I could hear her. Wont be going back and If you do choose to go here, call ahead to make sure they have coffee first. read more

I would give 4.5 stars, if possible. 5 stars for delish bakery items but minus 1/2 for location. The parking lot situation plain old sucks. It is in the same lot as DMV and New Moon grocery store. I parked across the street and it is dicey to cross at that section of Donner Pass. But the food was top-notch! Very dog-friendly; even though super small inside, there were dogs kind of everywhere. I left my 2 small guys outside while I picked up my food. Upon recommendation, I took home a chocolate crown (similar to a chocolate croissant - which they were out of by 11:30 am), a plain croissant and a vegan banana-chocolate muffin. The muffin blew the other 2 away and yet they were quite good! Will be back to try more menu items but hopefully, with their obvious success, they will move to a bigger and better location soon! read more
