The Puppy Academy

The Puppy Academy in Hermosa Beach has been crucial in my family's journey in raising a puppy. We…read morehave a Doberman Pinscher puppy who started at the Puppy Academy around almost 3 months old. They built a structured routine for our puppy which set the perfect foundation for good habits and positive behavior. Our puppy learned many things from commands such as sit, stay, proper walking, come here, lay down, place, house. I think the most important thing built though was the potty training and the socialization provided. Puppies NEED early socialization to develop into confident and friendly dogs. We have happy to see our puppy grow (and still growing) into a friendly, brave "teenager" puppy. Friendly play style! A Doberman is a high energy and demanding dog breed. Normally I would train our puppy fully on my own as I did with prior Dobermans I had in the past, but due to demanding work hours and obligations, I am so grateful for the opportunity The Puppy Academy provided during these critical socialization and learning periods. They train and interact with the puppy all day until I pick him up after work. Then I can continue with following their training methods throughout our time at home and on the weekends. It made it so easy! I wish I had the Puppy Academy all along for my prior dogs too. I'm impressed with the friendly staff and how well they did with our puppy! Even though our puppy has completed the program and graduated, we have still seen ease with the teenager/adolescent phase and training on our own again because of all the Puppy Academy set up for us. Thank you!!

More importantly, they took such great care of my little Mochi. As a first time puppy mom, it was intimidating but Puppy Academy was the safety net I needed. I get compliments on Mochi's calm and sweet behavior all the time. From his dog walker to the groomer, they all love how well-behaved he is and it's all thanks to the trainers who put in the work. It speaks to the fact that the trainers took the time to get to know my puppy and really understand what his learning experience would require. Definitely recommend taking the homework seriously, the time you invest is absolutely key to your puppy's success!

I don't know what kind of magic he's doing, but we don't know what we'd do without him! The boys love him and are always so excited to see him, Hobbes even gets excited when he hears Maz's voice on his instagram videos . If you're looking for a dog walker, look no further!! He also has an instagram where he'll record little clips of the walk, it's so fun to watch (not only our boys but all the other dogs he hangs out with!)

Maz is joyful, knowledgeable, reliable, and full of energy - everything you'd want in someone you entrust with your dog. When we book time with Maz, we know we're not just getting exercise, but she's getting playtime, engagement with other people, sprinkled-in training/reinforcement, and more. We've requested 1-hr walks, runs, and walk/runs just to practice her stamina and, to be honest, on days when we need to tire her out. He's challenged her with running and it's great to see her succeed. One of the perks is that, with our permission, Maz posts moments from their walks so I get to see my dog enjoy herself in real time while I'm at work. It's the best! Booking with Maz is super easy via the app. We book the weekend before, if not for a regular standing time, then we pay online.

What oncologist doesn't check the other organs after discovering cancer?? and only goes by blood…read moretests and measuring the glands?? Dr Villalobos never bothered to take a single Xray of my dog's organs after discovering cancer in 14 months of treatment! By the time my other Vet took an Xray, on the last 2 days of his life, he discovered cancer growth and more importantly, a blood clot or some sort and by then, it was too late. With LSpar administered earlier by Dr Villalobos's people, my poor Emo's lungs were on fire and he died 2 days later of painful, weeping death. That's Negligence!! Not aware of what's going on with his lungs she just kept pushing the drugs. And the WARNING OF LOW BLOOD PLATELETS that day didn't even phase her. (Jun 26th) I was charged sometimes up to $2,000 a month! Let me say it again, After KNOWING how LOW his blood platelets were on jun 26th, she still ordered Lspar (a type of mild chemo) which my dog had a bad reaction to and died of a painful death 2 days later. She had completely missed what was going on in his lungs which caused the emergency complication (Low Oxygen in blood) cause she had NEVER checked his lungs by Xray in all of the 14 Months of her expert treatment. Yes, Dr Alice Villalobos knows different chemos for cancer but she doesn't bother to look at organs by Xray or Ultrasound. She just administers more and more drugs!! I took my 14 year old Shitzu boy, Emo to her April, 2018. She confirmed Emo had Lymphoma and began chemo on him. She kept notes and had us come every 2 weeks. I didn't mind putting the expenses on my credit cards cause as you know, these little guys are the purest love of our lives. After testing the Lymphoma glands the initial time, she measured the glands and started chemo and continued in the following months. After some early success of shrinking the glands (Dec, 2018) , I became more trusting of her and that was my MISTAKE! 1.I noticed his stool becoming darker and mentioned it to her.(Mar, 2019) She said "there might be internal bleeding" but she didn't do any further exams. And now I look back and kick myself for letting her lead us. 2.As Emo's glands started to grow again, (April,2019) she suggested Tenovia chemo which ended up being SO HARD ON HIM AND KNOCKED HIM OFF HIS FEET. After 9 days of recovery and NO Appetite, he started to gain his energy back but then developed a fever. Luckily my other vet put a catheter in his arm and gave him Ampiciline to balance out his White and Red blood cells / Platelets. I was so afraid and helpless cause the glands under his chin and by his ears had grown back but still refused any more Tenovia but I continued to follow Dr Villalobos's orders to show up every week to check his blood and (according to her), at least get the LSpar injection which was a safe form of chemo. Really?? are you sure about that?? Emo had a horrible reaction to LSpar and DIED 2 days later suffering through a lot of pain. When I rushed him to my other vet 45 mins from Dr Villalobos's office, he noticed a breathing problem and did an Xray of his lungs and discovered cancer growth and a blood clot in his lungs. WHAT ONCOLOGIST DOESN'T CHECK THE OTHER ORGANS OF THE ANIMAL IN 14 MONTHS?? and only goes by blood tests and measuring the glands?? IN 14 moths of treatment? What does measuring the glands gonna tell you when you never bothered to look inward?? WHY?? Cause she's careless. and I should buy your book?? I put all my trust in you Alice Villalobos. You said you're an end of life expert. Really?? You Neglected my dog. On our second to last visit, (Jun 19th) a dog was rushed to her office that passed away in the car and never made it in.. Once she came in to see us, she said "sorry , I didn't expect that dog to die, I mean I expected Emo to die,, before that dog did" Really?? You insensitive , desensitized human. When I was trying to figure out where the infection was coming from with my other vet that was causing his fever, she said "Don't bother looking to get his teeth cleaned. Save your money for more chemo to treat his cancer" I ask you how much chemo is enough for you Dr V??? Are you pedal to the metal?? Do you even care about these animals or do you just push the drugs?? UPDATE: After speaking to Dr Villalobos on the phone weeks after Emo's painful weeping death, she told me that I didn't seem to have enough money to pay for X-rays and Ultrasound through his 14 months of treatment. REALLY?? I told her, I never denied a single treatment for him and followed every one of your orders. Ask your office manager, RONI that collected over $15,000 from me.

Her compassion and generosity was outstanding - she would sit on the floor with my dog and let him drool all over her while she talked to us. There was never a wait with her, she always made her clients and patients a priority. She didn't blink an eye when we told her we wanted to forego chemo and try alternative methods, holistic treatments, and other natural remedies. She supported us every step of the way. She would even perform cryosurgery on our dog's BELLY with just local anasthetic. That's how much our dog's trusted her. I'm so sad she retired, but after 48 years of practice, she revolutionized an industry and made this world a better place for so many dogs. Alice Villalobos changed the world and changed how we view cancer for animals, and I hope we find an oncologist who can follow in her footsteps! Thank you Dr. V! We will miss you, enjoy retirement!
