    Hung Sue Tofu
    Steve A.

Every one of these little Chinese takeouts looks the same almost. It's said by many the food looks and tastes the same too, but I think it's not always the case. #1 Chop Suey apparently lays claim to being the best chop Suey restaurant in Oak Park. For it sounding funny it may actually be true since there may not be another one around here. There's Chinese restaurants but not other chop suey restaurants specifically. Came in to get lunch It wasn't that busy but it was kind of slow because there's usually only a couple of people working here. This is now pretty much only a takeout. For sure it's one of the less attractive restaurants in town, only a couple tables inside. These are used just for keeping supplies on. It's about $10 for an entree. The Hung Sue Tofu is one of the less common entrees at these small Chinese restaurants. Has a sticky sweet sauce it's tossed it. There's a good variety of the usual vegetables like bamboo, carrots, and more. Get it for takeout because that's the only way to get it. It's not a good place to eat inside anyway because it's small and the customers in line are annoying and loud. The food doesn't look as good as it tastes.

The food is great. And service is also. It's a small place so it's good for a quick lunch. But I pick up and go.

Decent Chinese food for the price, but it's a little on the greasy side. Prompt delivery and a great selection.

We were there for some Chinese food. They give you complimentary hot tea when you sit down. The service was ok at best. Nice inside not very big but it's clean and has some cozy booth type seats along with open table seating. We ordered some Jumbo shrimp fried rice, Singapore noodles, pad se eew and a sampler appetizer platter. The appetizer platter came with 2 egg rolls, 2 dumplings, 2 bbq ribs, 2 shrimp toast, 2 crab Rangoons & 2 fried shrimp. The egg rolls were fresh and full of meat!! Very crispy and delicious! 7/10 I didn't have the dumplings I don't care for them myself but my wife likes them she gave them a 6.7/0 she said she's had better. The Ribs had a nice bite and flavor to them just a tad tough for me. 6/10 The shrimp toast was my favorite of the appetizers the were crispy not greasy and the shrimp was definitely there. I enjoyed the flavor of them. 8/10 The crab Rangoon however were a disappointment to me. They were definitely missing the green onion and crab! lol. Mostly cream cheese but fried well 4/10. The fried shrimp were ok. Average 5/10 They give you a lot of food for your money! As all the dishes had a great amount of protein in them! They don't skimp on the meat at all. The jumbo shrimp fried rice a great flavor and nice texture. You can taste smokiness in it. 7.5/10 The Singapore Noodles was loaded with shrimp, chicken and bbq pork, egg and veggies. It had a kick to it from the curry very flavorful and the texture of the noodles were spot on! 7.5/10 the pad se eew was also loaded with beef! (You have the option of protein) the beef was very tender, the sauce had a nice spice level and the noodles were perfectly cooked. 8/10 all in all i would definitely recommend checking them out! My bill was a little over $63 and well worth it. I'm definitely returning to them. Remember ALL reviews are SUBJECTIVE

First, I was told they were waiting for a table to open up. Then they were waiting on a cook. Finally, a staff member said the people at our reserved table were still eating and they were waiting for them to get up. When I asked when our table would actually be ready, she laughed, threw her hands up, and said she didn't know. What made the situation even worse was watching other customers walk in and be seated while we continued to wait. From what I observed, Black families were waiting extended periods of time, while White and Mexican customers were seated much more quickly. A party of 15 that arrived well after us was even seated before my group. I am deeply disappointed and disgusted by the treatment my family received on my mother's birthday. This would have been her first hibachi experience, and instead it was ruined by poor customer service and what appeared to be unfair treatment. I will never return and would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience.

So much of the menu looks amazing. The beef noodle soup was yummy and warm. There was a good amount of beef (and good cuts too) in the soup. The noodles were chewy and as expected of beef noodle soup. The soup wasn't super spicy and could have had a little more flavor, but it was still a good meal! Would come back if in West Town.

My daughter has been here several times before and highly recommended it. The place was busy but we were seated right away at an outdoor table behind the restaurant. While this might evoke images of pleasant terrace dining, the space was considerably less appealing. The tables were those metal mesh tables that allow spilled food and liquids to land in your lap. The chairs were wobbly, and the deck itself was worn out and uneven. There were buckets of tools and ladders leaned up again the wall. But, at least we were able to get dinner started right away! The food itself was very good. We started off with pork, shrimp, and scallop xiao long bao which were tasty but they stuck a little to the parchment paper, so we had to take care to lift them out so we didn't lose the soup. Steaming on cabbage leaves would have been better. The Peking duck fried rice had excellent flavor but there wasn't that much duck in it. The garlic bok choy also prepared well. One of the favorites was the Yibin flaming noodles, which were spicy but not overwhelming so. I found it to bit a little salty, however. The chicken and rice cake dish was expertly prepared. Sometimes the rice cake can be overcooked and have a gummy texture, but that wasn't the case here. We finished the meal with glutinous rice cake, which was a good palate cleanser. Service was attentive and the food came out relatively quickly. The total cost of the meal was very reasonable: the total cost for the six dishes and no drinks was a little over $100, including the tip. So we were certainly very happy with the meal, we just wish that the setting was a little more pleasant.

I've had the chicken in black pepper sauce, egg drop soup, egg fried rice, and the egg rolls. I would come here just for the egg rolls, hands down. Little known fact, but Chicago's egg rolls usually have a smidge of peanut butter in them as a binder, and for me this is what sets them apart from the rest of the US. Tony's egg rolls are the perfect flavor and consistency, and are the perfect embodiment of the Chicago Chinese Eggroll. The egg drop soup is some of the best I've ever had. Most other egg drop soups that I've tried have a thick broth with egg ribboned into it. Tony's broth is thin, but very flavorful and the eggs in the soup are SO fluffy! They even put some chicken in it as well. I was a little put-off by the visual difference, but once I tried it I was sold! The black pepper chicken was also great with the perfect amount of spice and a great depth of flavor. I usually order ahead on their website, and they are always ready once I arrive. I've never had an issue finding parking on Grand to run in and grab my food. They take cash and card, and the staff is always sweet.
