Chengdu Bistro's scallion pancakes are soooo good. I was skeptical at first because nothing can ever compare to my mom's. But THESE ATE DOWN. I also ordered the beef noodle soup which was perfect for the chilly weather. Service was a little slow and we waited for our check for a long time. Either way, we'd go back for sure. -AD

Prompt Service, split the bill for us, clean/fun atmosphere, and food was fresh and delicious! Would come again.

The pick this week was Chengdu Bistro in Bucktown. We wanted to start with chicken and cabbage dumplings, but they came last. Nice order of 8, but they were just bland. Really needed some kind of spice. Donna ordered sweet spicy noodles, I got Sichuan Zajiang noodles with stewed peas. While tasty, hers was not very spicy, not even for me. My dish was milder, but didn't look anything like the picture on the menu. Not much of the pork or the peas. The noodles were made in house and pretty good. All in all, 3 stars and no rush to return.

I'm so glad that printers row is getting more local restaurants in the area!! I've eaten here a couple times now (both dine-in and takeout) and do think it will become a staple in my restaurant rotation. They have a variety of different dumplings which are excellent (and you get them anyway you like: steamed, boiled, fried etc). I also really enjoyed the dry chilli chicken. I'm also a huge spice lover, however I will say some dishes have too much sichuan pepper (ie the spicy beef noodle soup) to the point I couldn't really eat it after a certain point due to the tingly/numbing sensation.

On a cold wintery night this is the place to come get your grub on. The chef creates delicious Chengdu inspired comfort food. From the homemade Dan Dan noodles to the truffle dumplings & every soup dumpling imaginable. Every dish tasted greater than the one before! Definitely ask for Eric or Noah both were knowledgeable in all that they offered and had spot on recommendations that will keep you coming for more! We were celebrating a birthday and serendipitously the chef made warm rice cakes topped with crunchy peanuts and carmelized brown sugar that they brought to the table!!! Such a sweet gesture that made one feel very special on their birthday!!! All in all a really great place to try in a bustling Chicago neighborhood!!! Come hungry and leave deliriously happy!!! Expect wowed tastes buds and food coma!!!

Nothing I say here will do this place justice. Handmade noodles. Handmade dumplings. Incredible staff. I've been to tons of Chinese places around the city, and I can honestly say this is the BEST I have had. Cheers. Stop reading this and go.

Tried Chengdu Bistro during a private event so I can't directly comment on typical service, but the staff were kind and we had a lovely time. There was a set menu for the lunch event and we got to try menu more dishes than if I can't with just my partner. Sometimes not having to make any decisions is such a welcomed break. The dumplings that we had were delicious. Not too spicy but had nice flavor. I enjoyed making the garlic cucumber salad for a bright bite in-between more "yeet hai" spicy/savory bites. Friends were also raving about a bottled cold tea drink that was on their menu. I didn't get a chance to try but might add it to our next out order from here!

Yummy spicy szhechuan beef noodle soup! Good on a cold day. Good service. The numbing spice noodles were crazy (numbness overpowers the flavor a bit). Chill vibes.

Small nice restaurant with great staff and food. We tried the fried dumplings. They were really tasty and flavorful. Lots of pork meat in it too. The wood ear salad was ok. The texture was chewy and the taste was ok. It wasn't for me, but others may love it. The Beef Noodle soup was delicious. They give a nice portion of beef and the broth was so full of flavors. Loved it! For desert we had the Glutinous rice cakes. It's very sweet and tasty, nice little crunch and kind of chewy, but very tasty. Nice compliment to the food. I would recommend this place. It was really good.

A truly pleasant lunch experience. Impressed by the absolutely friendly and considerate people, bright and clean environment, and pretty authentic flavors! We got Yibin Spicy Noodles, Pork and Truffle Soup Dumplings (I mean the truffle is not in a traditional recipe but the flavor it adds ), Dan Dan Noodles, Beef Noodle Soup and Dried Chili Chicken. Everything tasted good! If you have never tried Szechuan Noodles or just simply miss the flavors from home, you should get noodle dishes here.

Whatever you do, DO NOT get the Peking duck. To the owner of this establishment: I would implore you to take this off the menu immediately. It does not fit the rest of your offerings; you do not make it anywhere near to an edible quality and it shouldn't be on the menu. The duck tasted like it had been sitting out for days. The pancake wrap tasted like they were just microwaved. Even the cucumbers and scallions did not taste very fresh. On a more positive note: The noodles and dumplings were passable and just slightly above average but very worth it due to the cheap price.

We came on a Sunday night for dinner and they were busy! Luckily we didn't have to wait long for a table (without a reservation) but this place was continuously packed with both delivery and take out orders, as well as dine in guests. The servers who work here are excellent- they are a bit short staffed during peak hours but everyone managed to make it work and do it with a pleasant attitude. All the dishes we ordered tasted authentic and delicious. We got 2 orders of their Zajiang noodles with stewed chickpeas. You can customize which kind of noodles you want so we got regular for one bowl and the thicker noodles for the second bowl. We also got their steamed pork baos, steamed pork and chive dumplings and ye er ba. For dessert, we wanted to try their tang yuan but it was a 30 minute wait during peak dinner hours, so we ended up going with the glutinous rice cakes, which ended up being a hit. The dining area is quite small, the tables are also small, but they can still accommodate a few larger groups. There were quite a number of dishes I wanted to try this time that I didn't get to, including their roast duck and other noodle dishes. I'm sure I'll be back soon to try them!

DELICIOUS DELICIOUS The food was so freaking good from the soup dumplings, the Dan Dan noodles, egg roles so good! Looking forward to going back to try other items on the menu because as we were walking out I saw what other people had on there plates and it looks soo good! The service was amazing and quick! The space is beautiful and cozy.

MingHin was packed, loud, and a little chaotic. Worth it. Dim sum is an experience as much as a meal and MingHin delivers on both fronts. We ordered more than we could keep track of. Soup dumplings that immediately became the kids' personal obsession. Shu mai that hit every time. BBQ pork buns in every form they offered because obviously. Chinese broccoli to balance out the indulgence. Everything was solid, fresh, and exactly what you want from a dim sum spread. The room was packed and buzzing but the service kept up impressively. Servers were constantly circling, clearing empty plates and dishes without missing a beat. Clean and attentive even at full capacity, which is no small thing. Fair warning if you are bringing little ones: this environment is a lot. The noise, the crowd, the overwhelming parade of food arriving at the table. Our kids loved what they ate but the sensory experience was a bit much for them. This is a place better suited for a group of adventurous adults or older kids who thrive in high energy environments. Prices are great for the quality and quantity of food you get. A Chinatown institution for good reason. Just know what you are walking into and embrace it fully.

This is a tough one. Not happy at all. With all of the wonderful legendary Chinese places closing…read moreover the past few years (Kow Kow, Hong Min, Pekin House, and even the best egg rolls at Mee Mah), Sun Wah has been solid over the years- their whole duck is legendary and incredible. BUT, as wonderful as the food is, the last 5 visits have been dreadful. The angry waitresses are part of the deal, but when we're spending a few hundred bucks on dinner, enough is enough. Asking for extra sauce and being told NO- asking for extra bao wrappers and being told NO, asking for extra daikon for the duck when we're given a half full dish in the first place in unacceptable. And like I said, that's part of the deal. And the food is so good that you put up with it. But what happened last week was the last straw. We ordered egg rolls, 2 large dumpling soups, pot stickers, a whole duck, medium ribs, sweet and sour chicken, and for an appetizer, a medium BBQ pork. When the server brought the pork, first, it was cold. I guess that's also the deal. Sometimes it's hot, sometimes totally cold. But this time, and I'm not exaggerating, more than half of the order was pure white fat. Not fatty pork, white solid fat. we tried chewing git to see if there was any meat, but no. So, I finally got the servers attention and showed her. She looked at it, and then walked away. I assumed she was going to bring us a new order. Instead, the owner walked over. I showed her the 2 plates- 1 plate with half of the solid white fat, and the other plate with chewed up fat pieces. Instead of apologizing and bringing over a new order, she said "sometimes the pigs we get are very fatty". So I replied something like "sure I get that, but you can't serve this to customers" and " can you please bring us a new order of actual pork and not just a plate of fat"??? and she then looks down at both plates and says "you already ate it so we can't do anything. I tell her that, no, I didn't eat anything- you can see a plate with chewed up and spit out fat, but she literally WALKS AWAY. So then of course we wait for her to bring a new order over, but that never happens. And we're loyal customers for many many years, and she knows us. This extreme lack of care for your longtime customers is nauseating. Like I said, we've put up with it for years because we love the food (as well as putting up with the many health code violations over the years), but after this huge fuck you from the owner over a few bucks worth of pork? We're done. And our friends are done. This rude pathetic refusal to admit that you're serving inedible food and take care of your loyal customers with a few dollars in pork will now cost you THOUSANDS of dollars every year, because we have now told 20 of our friends to stop going, and they all agreed with us. The vibes were chill with pop music playing in the background. Service was solid. Our server was knowledgeable, explained the menu well, and answered questions without rushing us. The Pork & Chive Dumplings tasted like something my mom would make at home. The broth they sit in adds a lot of flavor and makes the dish even better. My only nitpick is that I personally prefer a thicker, chewier dumpling wrapper. The Dan Dan Noodles were the standout. Creamy, nutty, crunchy from the peanuts, packed with flavor, and not overly spicy. It was my first time trying dan dan noodles and now I totally understand the hype. 8/10. The Xian Bing took about 25 minutes to come out, which makes sense since they're made fresh. The lamb filling was flavorful and the outside was super crispy, almost like a scallion pancake. The bread itself was softer and thicker than I expected and could've used a little more flavor. Overall, this felt like authentic, comforting food that leaves you completely satisfied when you walk out. Next time I'd absolutely order the Dan Dan Noodles again and try the beef noodles, scallion pancakes, and beef dumplings.

The manager and the food runner were nice when we mentioned it, but our actual server was a disaster. When we tried the Goat Noodles, all we could taste was cumin. It was so overwhelming that it covered up everything else. We couldn't even tell if there was actually any goat shoulder in there. When we told our waiter, she couldn't care less. She got totally defensive, wouldn't even listen to us, and just said, "Oh, I told you when you ordered that the dish is cumin forward" and walked away. It got worse when the bill came.
