Parking is tight and there's no on-street parking on the street where Town and Tide is located; there is street parking on adjacent side streets. When we arrived, we were greeted with great warmth in the main house dining room. We were shown how to access the main house when the doors are locked and then shown to our room in the Garden House. Our hostess took time to make sure we understood the locking system and explained the entire property. There is a she-shed off the garden area where there's a couch and comfy chairs, a refrigerator for guests' use, some wine glasses, and they serve hot cocoa here in the evening. We unfortunately missed the hot cocoa bar because we had scheduled plans, but did check it out on our return later that night. A beautiful set up that's very welcoming. Our room was on the first floor. Plenty of heat in the bathroom and the bedroom was comfortable. The guests above us were a little noisy late at night, but that's probably just wood floors not buffering sounds. I slept well in that comfortable king bed. Breakfast was in the dining room in the main building, served 8-10 am. Before arrival, you let them know of any dietary restrictions. They have a set meal they serve--that day, its was blueberry French toast casserole with bacon, and it was superb. There's also coffee and tea that guests can help themselves to at any time, plus juices, yogurt, and granola. A bowl of delectable fruit topped it all off. Everything was amazing. At check-out, you simply lock the door behind you and leave. We were very happy with our stay and will return, hopefully when the weather is warmer so we can enjoy the gardens.

Planning process: Our coordinator was repeatedly rude and condescending toward my mother throughout the planning process. She was also disorganized -- it took multiple rounds of corrections before she had our event details right. She also gave us incorrect measurements for pipe and drape, resulting in a $2,000 charge for a setup that couldn't be used as intended. Credit card fraud: About two months after our wedding, we noticed a fraudulent charge on the credit card we'd given the venue for our event. After investigating with our credit card company, we traced it to an email linked to this same coordinator's name, with an IP address in Newport, RI. We reported this to OceanCliff immediately. At first, they seemed genuinely engaged in getting to the bottom of it and asked us to file a police report, which we did. The Newport Police investigation confirmed the employee had stolen our credit card information and used it for personal purchases. Once the investigation concluded, OceanCliff went silent. Despite repeated requests, they never told us how our information was compromised, what changes they've made to prevent it from happening to other couples, or offered any acknowledgment of the time, stress, and violation of trust this caused during what should have been one of the happiest periods of our lives. We trusted this venue with our wedding and our financial information, and that trust was badly broken -- first by an employee, and then by a venue that stopped engaging once the legal matter was resolved. I can't in good conscience recommend OceanCliff to other couples.

His cocktails were exceptional--thoughtfully crafted, perfectly balanced, and clearly made by someone who takes real pride in their craft. Emmett also stood out as someone who truly understands hospitality--polished, attentive, and naturally great with guests. I appreciated the complimentary canned juice & soda in fridge. The roomy shower had large pump bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The accompanying body lotion and bar soap were on the sink. The was a separate toilet space with door and it was eco-flush friendly. I did not have a full balcony, but did have a Juliet with a sliding door to let in some air. With the turn-down service at bedtime, a package of housemade cookies were left on my pillow each night. The lobby is on the second floor, where the check-in desks are. There is a bar and cafe. The seating is plentiful and comfortable. Our group's breakfast buffet and tea time buffet were both held in the lobby and were just beautiful. Lovely hotel, lobby, rooms, service, valet, food. Great location and walkable to so much shopping and restaurants. My only complaint is that the $40/day parking (down to $20 in Nov) was a tad high. When I asked for walking directions to the Vanderbilt, the valet drove me in the hotel's Mercedes SUV. I would absolutely stay here again if I were to return.

Also a closet with games if its raining and you're out of things to do - nice outside space to sit and enjoy the quiet of the island away from the main city -clean rooms with private bathrooms -felt like staying at your grandma's house :D -Use of a shared fridge to store drinks etc -beach access is about a 5 min walk down the road. The inn itself is about a 15-20 mins walk from the ferry/town. Cons -only one pillow per person which is old and THIN and barely a pillow. By the time we returned back to sleep we couldn't find the lady who helps to run the place to ask for another pillow each so we both kinda had a horrible sleep. The bed was also hard , old and squeaky. Would be have been an okay-ish sleep with better pillows -The bathrooms, while private, all have doors that are accessed from the hallway. Our hallway bathroom door didn't lock and the wood wrapped which means we didn't even bother locking our door as anyone could gain access into our room from the bathroom door. We mentioned this to inn keeper and all we got was a blank stare and an assurance that the Inn was safe and our stuff was safe. We left nothing but clothes in the room so we weren't overly worried but still seems a bit like they are setting themselves up for problems. Not everyone can be trusted. -the house is lit up at night but the road access can be a bit tricky d/t the lack of road side lighting. I actually fell trying to traverse the area at night. Bring a flashlight. if you will be out after dark. We plan on returning to BI this season and would consider staying here again tho....so all in all a nice place to stay
