We had family on the trip with us who joined us for drinks and she attended to all of us and the other quests. She was the attending to the front desk, bartender, etc. She did not miss a beat. Impressive! We were on the island in Sept. My friends stayed here and loved it. I come often and have had brunch here, but this is the first time we've stayed. The room was spacious. My 10yr old loved her pull out bed. She asked us to stay longer she had so much fun. Our room was the Tosh. The view is great, they have cheese and wine in the evenings and like I said I've had their brunch, it's great. Emily checked us out and I asked if she would be there in Aug/Sept. Told her wood call her to book and I look forward to seeing her. She was amazing!! I also have to give Rita a shout out. I met her in Sept and she was such a gem to my friends who were staying there. They are all very accommodating.

That being said, this was a good place to stay in Newport, very centrally located, and really allowed us to walk to almost everything. Our room was good & we had a little porch/deck right outside the room, so we could sit outside when we got back in our own private little space. Breakfast was very good. Here's one little nugget that we learned from talking to the locals... they don't go to the harbor area, they stick either to Thames or the Broadway area. Did the Rough Point tour & the Cliff Walk... beautiful!

Having never been past the lobby and reading mixed reviews, we didn't have high expectations. However, we were pleasantly surprised by this lovely inn! It was very, very quiet here in the dead of winter. We almost felt we had the whole place to ourselves! Parking was plentiful & easy, just steps from the lobby. We were quickly checked in and were assigned Room #9. What a lovely, warm, comfortable room! Furnished with fun, painted vintage pieces, our room had fours windows and was flooded with sunlight. We love a bright, sunny room, though those who prefer dark might be annoyed. We found it to be perfectly clean & fresh. At sunset, I climbed up to the fourth floor to check out the view. While freezing cold, it was a pretty view with a perfect peek-a-boo of the sun going down this time of the year. The antiquated heater was pretty loud and we wondered why it wasn't replaced by the mini-split which provided air conditioning. After a good night sleep, the kettle in the room allowed us to enjoy a beverage as we lounged a bit before heading down for breakfast. While just a light continental, it was a lovely room with nice, fresh offerings and perfect to hold us over until brunch later. Is this place perfect? No - it's an old building which has been moved & has quirks and wear. Is it fancy? No - not at all. Even the staff seems totally casual. But it's warm, comfortable, friendly & fun. She was absolutely running circles around everyone--making drinks, helping guests, answering questions from multiple staff members, and somehow keeping everything moving despite being pulled in every direction. She handled a busy bar with professionalism and a great attitude. What really stood out, though, was watching the chef come out and speak to her in an incredibly rude and disrespectful way in front of a full bar. No employee deserves to be treated like that, especially not someone who was clearly carrying so much of the workload. Kudos to her for staying calm, keeping her composure, and continuing to provide excellent service despite being spoken to in such a rude manner. She was the reason our experience remained positive. I hope management recognizes how valuable she is--and also addresses how inappropriate that interaction was. 0 stars for an uncomfortable experience with the chef. 5 stars for professional bartender

I love every detail of Hotel Manisses. The staff is very kind and pleasant, offering us a late check out and to hold our bags. The linens on the bed are incredibly soft, it's like sleeping on a cloud. The shower is very much like a cave, but it works in a small space. With our room, it has a private deck, which is a huge plus. It was a bit chilly, but we still lounged outside with a cocktail. The rooms all have AC which can be a huge selling point in the summer. All in all, this is the perfect boutique getaway.

Just a floor fan in each room. So it was HOT. But a local advised us that none of the inns on the island have ac. That made us feel better. So if you're staying here at the Narragansett inn during the summer, request a corner room. Those rooms have two windows so there's is better air flow. The rooms that are not on the corners only have one window and therefore no airflow. Also keep in mind there are minimal outlets, as it is a very old inn. So you can pick if you want your phone charging or the fan on. The bathrooms are shared. 1-2 bathrooms per floor. So you will be sharing a shower and a toilet with your floor mates. Bring flip flops for the shower if you're not keen on germs. There is however a small sink and mirror in each of the rooms for brushing your teeth or grabbing a glass of water during the night, as you will surely wake up drenched in sweat and dehydrated The beds in the rooms are a full size, not queen or king. Certain rooms do have twin beds. The staff is warm and welcoming. They serve complimentary coffee and delicious muffins in the morning (snag a pistachio muffin) Also on the weekends they do a champagne breakfast. We have not gotten the chance to experience the champagne breakfast because we hit it hard both nights this summer and ended up sleeping in The inn is close to 'dead eye dicks' a restaurant and bar right across the street. They serve amazing espresso martinis and you can sit out on the lawn right near the water with all the boats docked and watch the sun set! (See photo attached) It's also close to a bike rental shop about a quarter mile away and the inn offers bike racks so you can lock up your bike overnight. (around the back) and also a small breakfast place and a bar located on the dock. We love it here and will stay here going forward

You DO get an ocean breeze, windows that open, and if you fall asleep outside on a chair, somebody will bring you a blanket. it's a very chill place, and if you're a beach person, you'll love it. if you're pretentious, you better stay somewhere else. Everyone who worked the front desk was very accommodating and friendly. Mary went out of her way to make sure I had a nice stay. The cleaning crew does a great job. Remember, if you go, it's a place to sleep, close to the beach!

Diane, the owner, was amazing. She did everything possible to make all the guests feel comfortable. It was a quaint, cozy, welcoming environment. For some guests it was stressful being stranded on the island. Diane helped to make it a very positive experience. I am thankful our extended stay was at the Sheffield house. I highly recommend staying here. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The decor was nice. Diane served breakfast every morning ( coffee, juice, milk, cereal, oatmeal, bagels, yogurt, homemade breads...) I LOVE the Sheffield House. I highly recommend staying here!!
