This place is bussin. Very good for a date night. The service was great and the food was even better. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's got a great view of the beach and pier and it has a very beautiful fire place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely recommend making a stop here if you are in Santa Monica!

Excellent service from Jameson, Nacho, and Gerardo! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was very nice with the most beautiful view of the beach and the food was delicious![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were greeted by some of the nicest valet attendees I've ever met, Julius and Chris. They definitely deserve to be recognized! 9-29-2024

Overall, a solid 4. Ambiance - This is what you call an upscale LA beach scene, with an elegant oceanfront dining experience that offers an upscale yet relaxed atmosphere, perfect for both intimate dinners and special occasions. Service - We were first seated by the window, but it was too sunny, so we asked to be moved. The server was very attentive, friendly, and accommodating to our needs and moved us to the table I wanted. Food - We had side dishes as appetizers. The cornbread is a must. It was soft, mildly sweet, and buttery. The corn and shishito peppers had a little kick, which I loved. The Iberico pork chop was one of the best pork chops I have ever had. However, the veal Milanese was just okay. It had a great crunchy texture, but it lacked seasoning. I highly recommend One Pico if you want to experience elegant oceanfront dining

I used to love going to 1 Pico. I felt special but not any more. I still walk over to 1 Pico for day drinking since there are not many options for cocktails by the beach. Good: - Great Beach View. - Great Cocktails. Not So Good: - Service is not consistent. Not attentive when they are busy with tourists during the high season. - Menu items are limited. For example, they serve mostly breakfast items only until 3pm on the weekend. The kitchen closes 3 - 5:30pm - Food taste not fresh any more. Please bring back the delicious flat bread with caviar.

Incredible food! Seafood out of this world !!!!! We had service without asking. Fabulous wait staff! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We could look out the window and see the sun set over the beach and ocean, it was beautiful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a lovely dinner. My muscles with linguine was perfection!

Celebrated my anniversary here and had an amazing time. They knew it was a special occasion and seated us at a secluded spot with an ocean view. We loved our server who was so friendly and helpful, but also knew when to give us space to enjoy our evening. The ambiance was perfect with big bright windows (you can ask them to lower the shade by your table), quiet music, and a very coastal feel. Parking is valet, so remember to bring cash to tip. Food and drinks were all wonderful. My boyfriend said the Filet Mignon was perfectly cooked and is one of his favorites he's had. The Seared Scallops paired extremely well with the sauce drizzled on top. Couldn't stop eating the French fries, which seemed to have a unique taste. We think there's something special about the oil it was fried in. Rum Old Fashioned and the Lemonade in The Shade were strong drinks, but also good.

Quite elegant place to have a dinner. Great views. Lovely for a date or a business meeting. Food is delicious and timely served. Service is polished. This time we had our own bottle of Bordeaux they served. They have live music ( call to verify the time) in the lobby and very comfortable sofas for an extra cocktail.

Overall, I enjoyed my weekday dinner at 1 Pico. The portion sizes weren't as small as I imagined and the food was good too. It wasn't the best, but it was decent. The scallops were good, but I particularly enjoyed the brussel sprouts it came with. The lamb chops were a bit tough, but I'm usually not a lamb chop eater so maybe that's how it should be?? I came on a Wednesday so it wasn't very crowded, which I prefer during times like this (Covid-19). The service was excellent as well. A great place to bring out of towners!! 1 Pico isn't somewhere where I'll come regularly, but more for a special occasion and to enjoy the view.

I joined some friend for brunch at One Pico. Reservations seemed to be suggested which we had. We were appreciative to sit by the window with ocean view. As a local, it's still beautiful. Our server, male, brown wavy hair originally from IL, was super friendly and helpful. There were so many options. He helped us choose some good items. He suggested the Benedict choices as well as the burger and the savory crêpe. The interior is gorgeous just as you would imagine for a beachfront hotel. Soft blue and beige hues. Comfortable chairs. Large windows. we ordered two different eggs, Benedict options that included the lobster, prosciutto, and Canadian bacon. I opted for the salad which had the curly endive and two poached eggs. I added a side of grilled chicken. We also started with the watermelon salad and one blue gin cocktail and cappuccinos. Immediately after we were seated, we were served a fruited banana nut bread I believe. It was delicious. Our waters were kept refilled. The cappuccinos were delicious. My salad tasted OK overall. I think the dressing lacked a little seasoning or flavor. I noticed salt and pepper was omitted off the table. I should've asked for some. The side of grilled chicken I believe was an airline style chicken breast with the small drumstick bone. Again, it lacked any flavor, but it was some good additional protein. Although the two poached eggs were plenty. The grilled bread was delicious. Both my companions enjoyed the eggs Benedict. The server checked back multiple times. Definitely a destination place. The prices for beachfront restaurant are obvious. Valet parking is $14 in front. The location doesn't open until 11 AM. I probably would come back and try other items or take people from out of town..

My friends took me here for birthday brunch and it was fabulous, from the really nice view to the yummy food. Ordered a glass of rose at the bar. Bartender was fun to talk to while we waited for our party to get there. Once seated we decided to order a few things to share. Burrata and prosciutto as an appetizer- I love Burrata and I pretty much order it anywhere i go and it's available; this was pretty basic but good and refreshing The kale Caesar was really good - just enough dressing but not overdone, chicken was tender and moist Wagyu Burger cooked perfect, the sun dried tomato really took it up a notch (now I'm going to try that at home!); could I tell it was wagyu and/or did the meat taste any different? nope Lobster club stole the show - big chunks of delicious lobster on bread with a little avocado and a tasty aioli - so good! Service was great and who doesn't like a wonderful view of the ocean while you dine and enjoy time with friends! It's a pricey lunch but you know what you're paying when you come here.

    Baby leeks cooked to hell

Food was not very good. The baby leeks were absolutely terrible. My tuna was good but not for $72. The cut I was given was very thin, it was laughable. the plate was very sparse for $72, with only a small dollop of puree. The gin fizz cocktail was not good. The halibut was slightly overcooked and dry. The side broccolini with the halibut had no flavor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service and ambiance were good, but no way we would recommend 1 Pico to anyone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Compliments to the chef! The food was excellent once again. I highly recommend this restaurant for its food and beautiful view of the ocean and Santa Monica Pier. This is a high end romantic restaurant good for a nice date night. Our waiter, Tim, was so great with taking care of us and had good knowledge of food allergies and options. The fillet mignon was cooked perfectly, the Truffle polenta was amazing and the flourless chocolate cake with raspberry sauce was perfect! I took off one star because the female hostess was not very professional and had an attitude when talking with us and other couples throughout the night. Hopefully she will be moved or retrained. Kindness and professionalism are not too much to ask. All in all, one of our favorite restaurants.

Parking: They have an adjacent paid parking lot though metered street parking is cheaper since they unfortunately don't validate. Ambiance: Really gorgeous inside, with high arced wooden beam ceilings, natural light through skylights, romantic dim lighting, candles, lots of potted trees for greenery, and velvet seating to add elegance. Even the plates are worth admiring. They have a nice patio with heat lamps for cooler evenings as well. I absolutely love the vibes for date night. I have eaten here four times now and have a reservation ready for my fifth. The menu changes EVERY WEEK and the fact that the ingredients are so seasonal, and the chef really seems to takes pride and passion in creating different dishes so often, keeps me coming back each time. They have done specials from Sunday Night $35 7-course omakase to 50% off Neighborhood Patio nights to $65 for two 4-course date nights and the quality is so worth it. I even came by for an art class hosted on the patio since they hold multiple community events, including sports watch parties. The best yellowtail I've had (including eating in Japan and various sushi spots in LA, OC, SF, and NY) was surprisingly here, at a place I was honestly hesitant to even order sushi from. It's the first time I actually really could taste the flavor as it's more subtle than tuna, salmon, or albacore but they somehow made it incredibly memorable from the freshness. Definitely order the hamachi with pomegranate. I loved the flavor with the ponzu and that it wasn't just the basic jalapeño combo. There was a Singaporean crab garlic butter noodle dish they made once that was incredible though sadly seemed to be on the menu that time only. This was my absolute favorite entree they've offered so far. The gem lettuces Caesar salad is amazing although unfortunately, both times I've ordered it without cheese, they forgot. The boquerones (anchovies) are a gem (ha) that really adds to the salad and I love the texture from the herb crust. Their signature shrimp toast has a good crunch from the sesame seeds and distinct pieces of shrimp rather than mush inside and the ikura on top adds another good layer of flavor. The vegetable curry was rich, flavorful, and savory witbout being too heavy with perfectly cooked potatoes that didn't just hide in the sauce in a way that actually didn't make me miss the meat. The short rib curry had such tender meat and the roti made in house was actually a major highlight for me as it was so flaky, hot, crispy and had an amazing garlic flavor. The chocolate pot de creme had a good orange zest flavor to add to the chocolate and wasn't too rich or heavy though the texture was thicker. The calamari had super crispy batter so didn't associate it as much with a lighter tempura one but the lemons in it and the roasted garlic marinara sauce it came with were so good and added a lot of depth. The butter curry prawns has SUCH well cooked shrimp - flavor was amazing. Miso salmon was good though crispy skin side up would have been better personally. I liked the olive oil flavor in the vinaigrette and the lemon with veggies on the side as well. The tres leches was surprisingly light for a cake and very moist so I enjoyed a lot and the caramel ice cream wasn't overly sweet. The lychee vodka drink is my favorite (came with a drink pairing they offered with Sunday omakase) and the imperial gold yuzu cocktail is better for those who like a stronger drink. The grilled asparagus was cooked to a tenderness with great flavor from the crispy onions on top that have somehow made it among my top favorite dishes here, despite it just being a small side vegetable dish but I didn't like asparagus until this! I would definitely recommend coming here for dinner over brunch personally, as those have been my most memorable bites. Definitely order the yellowtail sashimi, shrimp toast, gem lettuces Caesar salad! Hoping the garlic butter crab noodles, grilled asparagus with crispy onions, and housemade roti reappear on the dinner menu!

It swings from Vietnamese small plates to a straightforward steak, and the range never settles into a point of view -- it reads less like a confident eclectic kitchen than a grab bag. The fried red snapper was the standout: crisp, well-cooked, good enough to stand on its own. It came with a fish sauce for dipping that it didn't need -- a wedge of lemon on the side would have suited it far better. The Vietnamese crab cake was a real miss; I couldn't get past it. The dumplings were fine but forgettable. Service ran to extremes. Our server was warm and eager, almost too eager -- he pushed a bottle of wine we weren't sold on, and we ordered it anyway. Then, after all that attentiveness, he disappeared toward the end of the meal and never came back. The wine list was fine, nothing memorable. It's located in the old Clock Tower building, and the Art Deco decor is absolutely stunning--dark enough to hide a bad day but vibrant enough for a girls' night. The Vibe: It's loud, lively, and perfectly "bohemian chic". If you're coming on a weekend, prepare for a crowd, but it's the good kind of crowded where everyone looks like they just came from a gallery opening. The Food: I'm still thinking about the Crispy Chicken Sandwich--it was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and came with a fennel-apple slaw that actually felt fresh. We also shared the Bacon Wrapped Dates (obviously) and the Hand Cut Kennebec Fries, which arrive in a bowl so huge it could basically be its own zip code. The Drinks: Their Happy Hour is arguably the best in the city. I had the Japanese Dream with matcha, and it was expertly crafted--not too sweet, which is my biggest pet peeve. The "Misfit" Moment: The service can be a tiny bit slow when it's "rammed," and there's a 4% kitchen fee that feels a bit unnecessary, but they make up for it with those complimentary sea salt chocolate chip cookies at the end. They are warm, gooey, and life-changing. One major heads-up: I heard a rumor they might be closing their doors on April 18th due to some landlord drama, so get there while you still can.
