Oh my gosh! This place is absolutely wonderful! It's located in the hotel and we got reservations but there was a line for walk ins before 5. This place is charming and we got sat indoors overlooking the pool. It really felt like I was in another city somewhere. The servers and hosts were very attentive and very helpful answering any questions. Everything everyone ate look absolutely fantastic. Drinks: sunset spritz was a wonderful spin on the classic aperol but it had Vodka in it so it gave it an extra kick, but did not taste boozy. I also had the cucumber marg and our server asked me if I would like some Jalapeno slices in it and it really elevated the whole experience. Apps: the PEI mussels were beautifully arranged and the curry sauce that it in was very flavorful. I highly recommend this as a starter. The steak tartar was a whole show, the server walked out with a glass case that was ultra smoky, which they opened in front of you. It was a dinner and a show!! The tartar was very delicious. If you're a tartar fan, you have to get this. Wedge salad deserves it's only paragraph! It was huge, the pecans were a nice touch. I am not a fan of blue cheese dressing but it was not at all over powering. It was absolutely incredible. Mains: we ordered the branzino and these short ribs and both were cooked to perfection. The branzino had a perfect char to the skin and the server recommended the short ribs with mashed potatoes versus what it comes with which was shave carrots. The majority of the food and drinks were on special that ended 6 p m. If you do go I highly recommend going before 6. We stayed at the Fairmont for a few days and ate breakfasts at the Fig restaurant every morning. The breakfasts were great. Pancakes and Waffles were served hot - something I don't take for granted these days. Eggs Benedict had perfectly poached eggs and the hollandaise sauce was on point. The smoked salmon and bagel was large enough to share. The best deal in the house is happy hour between 5 and 6 when a select menu is 1/2 price. We enjoyed the margharita pizza, pork meat balls, wedge salad, French onion soup (was a bit salty). Servers are efficient and helpful. Seating is inside and on the patio. read more

We had the perfect brunch in the lovely atmosphere of Fig restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. And it was made all the better by our server Oscar who went above and beyond to make sure every detail of our brunch was perfect. We shared the cinammon roll for four which got us off to a wonderful and unique start and then moved on to the cobb salad with seafood with fresh greens and delicious shrimp and a nice dressing. 2nd time at FIG: First time was a birthday lunch with friends, this time was an early Valentine's dinner with my boyfriend. Both times I've gone was for their amazing happy hour "Fig at Five" from 5-6p (most nights of the week). Everything on their provided menu is 50% off! It was pretty empty last night which was super nice compared to last time when I went in June, probably because peak tourist season. We each got a cocktail which was delicious and split fried calamari, caesar salad, truffle gnudi pasta, short rib with farro risotto and then the chocolate mousse for dessert. Standouts for us were the caesar salad and the short rib entree, both so full of flavor and they give you a lot of food. My boyfriend LOVES chocolate mousse so we were excited for that but unfortunately it fell short of expectations, still yummy but not spectacular like everything else was! Hadn't been to FIG for many years but boy am I glad a friend suggested it for happy hour! It's fantastic. Everything on the menu (food and drinks) is half off between the hours of 5-6pm on Tuesday-Saturday, making it a great deal. Everything we ordered was 5 stars (salmon, branzino, scallops, and crispy calamari), with the exception of the mussels which were 3 stars due to the sauce being a little bland. Each dish came with a different, large portion side vegetable dish that was colorful and beautifully presented. Service was impeccable and friendly. Valet at the hotel is pricey but there are several Santa Monica city parking lots close by where you can park for free for the first 90 minutes. Parking structure 4 is closest. Was staying at a friend's place down the road one weekend, and decided on that Sunday morning that I needed Eggs Benedict for brekkie. Took a Waymo (fun!) up to the Fairmont Miramar Hotel where FIG Restaurant is located. The restaurant itself is nicely designed, and I was seated in a kind of atrium area just before the patio dining area. My server was absolutely fantastic, and highly recommended the Salmon Benedict. The meal arrived in relatively short order, and it was very good. However ... it tasted like the smoked salmon was slightly off (a slightly sour note). Well, I usually take a very good pre/probiotic every morning so I didn't really worry about any stomach discomfort. Thankfully, I didn't experience any. :-) All-in-all, a very nice hotel restaurant with excellent service. Next time, though, I'm gonna try something different. ;-) read more

On women's day my mom, sister and I went to Santa Monica beach for a few hours to enjoy the beautiful weather. After walking around for an hour or so we decided to have lunch and my sister recommended Fig at the Fairmont hotel. We walked in without reservations and were seated right away. The host was very welcoming and friendly. We sat by the window overlooking the pool. This restaurant is so beautiful with great decor. We started with the best cocktails ever. I had the spritz and my sister got an expresso martini which was soo good. We ordered the truffle burger which was amazingggg. The fish tacos were as good and the side of Rosemary fries was perfection. We enjoyed our meal and cocktails very much. It was a brunch menu by the way. Our waiter was friendly, kind and attentive. He made sure we felt welcomed and taken care of. Love a good customer service. Overall this is a great place to eat at specially if you are staying at the hotel. I wanted to jump in the pool so bad, it was a warm day. Looking at it the whole time wasn't easy. lol read more

I'm not sure what happened here, but this place feels like a shadow of what it used to be. For years, happy hour was packed, lively, and consistently worth going to. Now it's noticeably quiet, which says plenty on its own. What makes this even more disappointing is that this restaurant is part of the Fairmont Miramar in Santa Monica -- one of the city's flagship high-end hotels -- so a certain level of quality, polish, and professionalism should come with that. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. Visually, the plates look polished and appealing, but the flavor feels like an afterthought. When I asked, I was told they had changed the chef -- that part was not hard to believe. Service was equally disappointing: inattentive, not particularly courteous, and oddly defensive. When I raised a concern, instead of addressing it thoughtfully, the response only reinforced how far the overall standard has slipped. It's genuinely disappointing to see this level of decline in a venue attached to a hotel of this caliber. Luxurious spot - I love how bright the space feels. Service is friendly and quick. The food on the other hand wasn't very memorable. - Mixed pastries: chocolate croissant was so fluffy and yummy. The cinnamon bread was alright. I'm a bigger fan of their croissants than muffins. - Avocado toast: generous amount of avocado but bread was too soft for my preference. pickled onions offered a tart contrast which i liked! - Calamari: really liked the generous garlic pieces and the sauces! The tartar was creamier than others. calamari itself was standard - sweet potato waffle and fried chicken: sweet potato made the waffle chewier which was pleasant! but I found the syrup to be overpowering. Chicken was crispy. Peppers had a nice kick to them. - smoked salmon sandwich: generous amount of salmon and avocado which was great! good ratio to vegetables. Fries were good to cut the taste - ask for their homemade salsa which adds a bit of heat. overall we liked the appetizers more than the entrees lol Maybe I'd come back for their seafood, but parking is tough. The food was excellent. The service was warm. The atmosphere was everything you'd expect from the Fairmont. And then the bill came. A 20% service charge was already baked in -- and not one word was said about it. We tipped on top of it like anyone would. Thankfully, we caught it before we left and corrected the bill. When we asked our server why he hadn't mentioned it, he said he assumed we were regulars who already knew. We had asked about the happy hour menu when we walked in. We were obviously not regulars. Let's be direct: the policy isn't the problem. The silence is. I get it when a party is six or more. There were two of us. No matter what the size of the party, this should be clearly communicated in no uncertain terms. Any reputable restaurant I've ever been to flags this upfront -- because it's the right thing to do. Do I believe it was intentional? Yes, I do. We made it right on our end, but we shouldn't have had to. This is Fig at the Fairmont. The standard should be higher. Being upfront and honest when the bill was presented would have made this a five-star night. This isn't about the money -- it's a matter of principle. And that is deeply disappointing from an establishment of this supposed reputation. If this was my restaurant, any employee who acted in this manner would no longer be working there. I was staying across street and dropped in for a quick breakfast before my appointment. Restaurant is set inside Fairmont Hotel promenade with other shops next door. Host was pleasant and sat me at large bar countertop as restaurant was full with tables spilling out through french doors to a balcony overlooking the pool area. Menu had the usual selections, and I ordered the avocado toast, chicken apple sausage, and coffee. Waiter was pleasant and coffee was deliciously strong. While waiting I heard a very familiar Austrian accent, and turned to see Arnold Schwarzenegger at the nearby table. Next to him was a familiar face but I couldn't put a name to him. Fast forward to later that evening I was watching Bill Maher with guest Joe Machin (West Virginia governor) who mentioned breakfast that morning with his friend Arnold and then it clicked for me. At any rate, breakfast arrived and was delicious. Avocados spread with fresh greens and tomatoes with a chipotle salsa side. The bread had just enough crunch but soft enough not to take the roof of your mouth off. Chicken sausage tasted deli fresh. It was a bit pricey at $50 for one which included a mandatory gratuity but not unexpected for a Fairmont property. And as Arnold once said, I'll be back. read more

I have been a weekly client of FIG and all other businesses on property since 2009. The food, chefs and service have been remarkable all this time. I have celebrated and hosted countless events and recommended/referred on all platforms and locals. It's actually embarrassing the literal fortune my associates and I spend at this establishment, considering the forthcoming: In the past year, something has changed with management and there have been too many incidents of rudeness and strange policy changes as described by another recent review. It's wild to me that they would be so rude to me as a loyal regular, too. I can no longer confidently recommend due to this uneven experience. Hopefully they will fix it. They've also just started serving smaller portions of wine for the same price, thinking we won't notice and other hostile business practices. We came here for happy hour and to have a business meeting, and wow the food is so good. I forgot how much I loved persimmon but the Persimmon and Burrata is fantastic. The shishito peppers, the broccolini, and the rosemary fries were also all very good. But man, that Persimmon and Burrata is going to show up in my dreams. I am thinking of incorporating persimmon into so many things now. Our server was so sweet and warm. I felt like a VIP during my whole time here. They helped me with my parking (the valet is quite good here), and tracked me down here also. I was a little freaked out, but this is what good service looks like. The ambiance is romantic and intimate, making for a nice night out with my colleagues who also happen to be really good friends of mine. I didn't want to walk far for breakfast. Walked out of my bungalow and to the Fig was awesome. The scrambled eggs and hollendaise here are incredible. Pair them, dip them, love them. The sausage is ok, deep fried so it's meh. I had breakfast here twice and both ranked 5/5. My Birthday evening, after our dinner we came here to have some final drinks. That included Macallan 18 and muscles. The muscles here were bomb. So lucious, so fresh, so soft. Prices are steep, but the food and service here are just so damn good. My friend brought breakfast burritos to the bar when I was chowing on eggs. The bartender offered him an array of sauces versus giving him crap. If budget and financials are not in the picture this is your place. You'll love it. read more

We were recommended this place when visiting some friends in the area. This place smells amazing from outside in and has a quaint layout while being tucked inside the hotel and kind of hidden within. The server was great and provided us a few different options to try and we decided to check out the Eggs Benedict and the breakfast sandwich. Nestled in the Fairmont Hotel, this restaurant didn't disappoint. The atmosphere is that of a French Brasserie with beautiful black and white tile and marble tables. Plants hang overhead adding a summer greenhouse ambiance. Although windy and cold the day we dined, (the glass walls and heaters kept us warm) we can see the typical configuration is for the walls to be open, overhanging the pool. It's a stunning venue. We ordered breakfast, Chilaquiles and the Lemon Ricotta pancakes. The Lemon Ricotta pancakes were the best pancakes I have ever eaten. I never even added syrup because they are perfect by themselves. Light and airy, I could only eat half of the portion as it was generous. The Chilaquiles included egg and chicken and the dish has quite a kick of spicy heat, be forewarned! FIG has long been a local favorite for their happy hour (5-6pm) which featured 50% off of any drink and the full menu, minus a couple of the more extravagant offerings. It's a great setting and a place of community, food, and as importantly, a reliably great cocktail. A very prescious hour! Well, not anymore... Now if you want a drink you can have one of their few specialty cocktails which are fine if you want someone else's idea of what cocktail to drink. The puzzling part is that you can't even a get vodka and soda, or martini - even though the same vodka is used in one of their drinks that you don't want. It's the dumbest, most punitive to the customer solution. They also really need to update their menu. Same menu for YEARS. No one is excited to come and then stay for dinner. I think that would bring more people in, too. It used to be interesting and would change. My god, get it together, FIG! If you're considering FIG because you've heard how great it is and want to give it a shot during happy hour, I'd rethink it. Sadly, Wally's is a better option. At least for now. read more

These pancakes are really soft and fluffy with subtle hint of lemon. The blueberries butter is flavorful. The maple syrup is pretty sweet; drizzle it as you go. I add all of it at once and which ended up overwhelming the lemon element :(( Overall, this is a nice restaurant with good ambiance. The waiting staff is so attentive. Brought my family there for Easter brunch. Got there around 10:45am. Ordered as soon as we were able to because it was a pre-fix menu and we all knew what we wanted. Waited over 45min. Until I asked the waiter to check on our order. They were also handing out Easter baskets to the kids, then noticed they handed it out to every single table with kids but skipped our table. But thought it was just an accident. Finally we got our the appetizer, I noticed my time at 11:39am when they took our plates. After 40min of asking 3 different waiters and even asking for dessert togo with our entre because of them taking too long, our food still never came. My daughters realized 3 other tables who came after us has gotten their food already. Again, it was a prefix menu, l everyone was being the same food. we also then noticed we were the only Asians in the restaurant. Obviously very upset, I decided to leave. As we were leaving, an (eastern European) lady who worked there, asked why we were leaving. I said "we waited too long, and that we were leaving." I stopped by the front to offer to pay for the appetizers we had. They asked if "everything was ok,"I explained, and they said they were sorry. Then the lady who followed us said "these things happen because we are busy. " that ticked me off so i told them how I really felt and that I'm not sure it was them being racist and not serving us but everyone else. Then the lady came back yelling "I'm a minority from --(I forget)-, and I'm a lesbian, YOU HAVE PROBLEM WITH LESBIANS!? I was like "WHAT DA HECK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT." At this point, my wife was pulling me back with my girls. Then the lady she kept on talking over me repeating multiple times, "YOU HAVE SOMETHING AGAINST LESBIANS!? I have been back a handful of times now for Fig at Five and it never disappoints!! Menu has been adjusted for the season (I think) so we tried the Persimmon Burrata which honestly reminds me of some meals at Michelin star restaurants in Paris. Just wow! Lamb bolognese is just mouthwateringly good. Very tender meat and al dente pasta. Yum! Scallops were also just next level. Incredible buttery texture and the flavors were nicely balanced. Thai peppers, coconut flavor, and mint gave it a very Thai infused flavor which I loved. Again the plating and use of flavor here also reminds me of Paris. Service is as always top notch and friendly. This time, someone came around and provided bag holders to those with purses -- such a nice touch!! This is a beautiful place to get brunch with the half open half closed concept. You can view the pool from your seats, surrounded by a garden-esqe vibe. Food Calamari: these were crispy and great! French onion soup: I LOVE French onion soup and try it everywhere I go. I think it could've used a tad bit more flavor, but the cheese was delightfully melted. Pasta: I'm not sure if I'd get this again. A bit bland, I'd skip it. Apple pie: the tart tasted a bit mushy and undercooked. Would pass on this. Service The servers were quite overwhelmed. I really love the Fig at 5 concept! I finally had a chance to eat at 5 pm and decided to try out Fig at 5. There was a really long line at 5 pm- I had reservations for 5 pm and was seated promptly. The waiter was a little impatient with our party since we were newbies and didn't know that you had to order the food immediately. This prompted me to order more food so I can taste the menu. Ordered the halloumi cheese with pita (flaming halloumi cheese!), french onion soup, cavatelli with truffles, roasted duck and the grilled salmon. It was all delicious and a lot of food, and nice that Fig at 5 = food is 50% off the menu price. Our waiter was very prompt - excellent service. Looking forward to my next visit. read more
