    Gem Lettuce Caesar

2nd time at FIG: First time was a birthday lunch with friends, this time was an early Valentine's dinner with my boyfriend. Both times I've gone was for their amazing happy hour "Fig at Five" from 5-6p (most nights of the week). Everything on their provided menu is 50% off! It was pretty empty last night which was super nice compared to last time when I went in June, probably because peak tourist season. We each got a cocktail which was delicious and split fried calamari, caesar salad, truffle gnudi pasta, short rib with farro risotto and then the chocolate mousse for dessert. Standouts for us were the caesar salad and the short rib entree, both so full of flavor and they give you a lot of food. My boyfriend LOVES chocolate mousse so we were excited for that but unfortunately it fell short of expectations, still yummy but not spectacular like everything else was! Service was great and ambiance was perfect for date night

Hadn't been to FIG for many years but boy am I glad a friend suggested it for happy hour! It's fantastic. Everything on the menu (food and drinks) is half off between the hours of 5-6pm on Tuesday-Saturday, making it a great deal. Everything we ordered was 5 stars (salmon, branzino, scallops, and crispy calamari), with the exception of the mussels which were 3 stars due to the sauce being a little bland. Each dish came with a different, large portion side vegetable dish that was colorful and beautifully presented. Service was impeccable and friendly. Valet at the hotel is pricey but there are several Santa Monica city parking lots close by where you can park for free for the first 90 minutes. Parking structure 4 is closest. Highly recommend.

    Brekkie Menu!

Was staying at a friend's place down the road one weekend, and decided on that Sunday morning that I needed Eggs Benedict for brekkie. Took a Waymo (fun!) up to the Fairmont Miramar Hotel where FIG Restaurant is located. The restaurant itself is nicely designed, and I was seated in a kind of atrium area just before the patio dining area. My server was absolutely fantastic, and highly recommended the Salmon Benedict. The meal arrived in relatively short order, and it was very good. However ... it tasted like the smoked salmon was slightly off (a slightly sour note). Well, I usually take a very good pre/probiotic every morning so I didn't really worry about any stomach discomfort. Thankfully, I didn't experience any. :-) All-in-all, a very nice hotel restaurant with excellent service. Next time, though, I'm gonna try something different. ;-)

On women's day my mom, sister and I went to Santa Monica beach for a few hours to enjoy the beautiful weather. After walking around for an hour or so we decided to have lunch and my sister recommended Fig at the Fairmont hotel. We walked in without reservations and were seated right away. The host was very welcoming and friendly. We sat by the window overlooking the pool. This restaurant is so beautiful with great decor. We started with the best cocktails ever. I had the spritz and my sister got an expresso martini which was soo good. We ordered the truffle burger which was amazingggg. The fish tacos were as good and the side of Rosemary fries was perfection. We enjoyed our meal and cocktails very much. It was a brunch menu by the way. Our waiter was friendly, kind and attentive. He made sure we felt welcomed and taken care of. Love a good customer service. Overall this is a great place to eat at specially if you are staying at the hotel. I wanted to jump in the pool so bad, it was a warm day. Looking at it the whole time wasn't easy. lol

Luxurious spot - I love how bright the space feels. Service is friendly and quick. The food on the other hand wasn't very memorable. - Mixed pastries: chocolate croissant was so fluffy and yummy. The cinnamon bread was alright. I'm a bigger fan of their croissants than muffins. - Avocado toast: generous amount of avocado but bread was too soft for my preference. pickled onions offered a tart contrast which i liked! - Calamari: really liked the generous garlic pieces and the sauces! The tartar was creamier than others. calamari itself was standard - sweet potato waffle and fried chicken: sweet potato made the waffle chewier which was pleasant! but I found the syrup to be overpowering. Chicken was crispy. Peppers had a nice kick to them. - smoked salmon sandwich: generous amount of salmon and avocado which was great! good ratio to vegetables. Fries were good to cut the taste - ask for their homemade salsa which adds a bit of heat. overall we liked the appetizers more than the entrees lol Maybe I'd come back for their seafood, but parking is tough. Either valet for $11 for the first 2 hours and $7 per afterwards, or do street parking for $6 for 3 hours as we did easily on Ocean Avenue a 5 min walk away on a Sunday (6/8/25) around 11AM. you might potentially run into celebrities here as we saw arnold schwarzenegger walk in and have brunch lol

They are still killing that happy hour game! New pics added. My friends and I try to go when we can get there by 5pm (that part is important!) and you have to be OK sitting at the bar.

Although I didn't snap any photos, our dining experience was excellent. The food was both delicious and beautifully presented, and the service was outstanding. Prices were on the higher side for the portions, but that's expected at a five-star hotel restaurant.

    Persimmons and Burrata
    Nathan N.

We came here for happy hour and to have a business meeting, and wow the food is so good. I forgot how much I loved persimmon but the Persimmon and Burrata is fantastic. The shishito peppers, the broccolini, and the rosemary fries were also all very good. But man, that Persimmon and Burrata is going to show up in my dreams. I am thinking of incorporating persimmon into so many things now. Our server was so sweet and warm. I felt like a VIP during my whole time here. They helped me with my parking (the valet is quite good here), and tracked me down here also. I was a little freaked out, but this is what good service looks like. The ambiance is romantic and intimate, making for a nice night out with my colleagues who also happen to be really good friends of mine. I know where I would like to go for future happy hours.

    Eggs and hollendaise- 10/10
    Peter T.

I wanted to hate this place. $38 for 2 eggs, bacon, toast, and potatoes? Come on. I will say right now I was wrong. The food here is some of the best I've had in California. The service here is some of the best I've had in California. We stayed here for my 40th Birthday. I was hungover nearly everyday and with my kids. It was messy but fun. I didn't want to walk far for breakfast. Walked out of my bungalow and to the Fig was awesome. The scrambled eggs and hollendaise here are incredible. Pair them, dip them, love them. The sausage is ok, deep fried so it's meh. I had breakfast here twice and both ranked 5/5. My Birthday evening, after our dinner we came here to have some final drinks. That included Macallan 18 and muscles. The muscles here were bomb. So lucious, so fresh, so soft. Prices are steep, but the food and service here are just so damn good. My friend brought breakfast burritos to the bar when I was chowing on eggs. The bartender offered him an array of sauces versus giving him crap. If budget and financials are not in the picture this is your place. You'll love it.

We were recommended this place when visiting some friends in the area. This place smells amazing from outside in and has a quaint layout while being tucked inside the hotel and kind of hidden within. The server was great and provided us a few different options to try and we decided to check out the Eggs Benedict and the breakfast sandwich. The menu is decent but not overly filled with options (note they have a breakfast and lunch/dinner menu). We also got some fresh orange juice which tasted amazing. Overall the food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. Check out this gem of a food place!

Parking: They have an adjacent paid parking lot though metered street parking is cheaper since they unfortunately don't validate. Ambiance: Really gorgeous inside, with high arced wooden beam ceilings, natural light through skylights, romantic dim lighting, candles, lots of potted trees for greenery, and velvet seating to add elegance. Even the plates are worth admiring. They have a nice patio with heat lamps for cooler evenings as well. I absolutely love the vibes for date night. I have eaten here four times now and have a reservation ready for my fifth. The menu changes EVERY WEEK and the fact that the ingredients are so seasonal, and the chef really seems to takes pride and passion in creating different dishes so often, keeps me coming back each time. They have done specials from Sunday Night $35 7-course omakase to 50% off Neighborhood Patio nights to $65 for two 4-course date nights and the quality is so worth it. I even came by for an art class hosted on the patio since they hold multiple community events, including sports watch parties. The best yellowtail I've had (including eating in Japan and various sushi spots in LA, OC, SF, and NY) was surprisingly here, at a place I was honestly hesitant to even order sushi from. It's the first time I actually really could taste the flavor as it's more subtle than tuna, salmon, or albacore but they somehow made it incredibly memorable from the freshness. Definitely order the hamachi with pomegranate. I loved the flavor with the ponzu and that it wasn't just the basic jalapeño combo. There was a Singaporean crab garlic butter noodle dish they made once that was incredible though sadly seemed to be on the menu that time only. This was my absolute favorite entree they've offered so far. The gem lettuces Caesar salad is amazing although unfortunately, both times I've ordered it without cheese, they forgot. The boquerones (anchovies) are a gem (ha) that really adds to the salad and I love the texture from the herb crust. Their signature shrimp toast has a good crunch from the sesame seeds and distinct pieces of shrimp rather than mush inside and the ikura on top adds another good layer of flavor. The vegetable curry was rich, flavorful, and savory witbout being too heavy with perfectly cooked potatoes that didn't just hide in the sauce in a way that actually didn't make me miss the meat. The short rib curry had such tender meat and the roti made in house was actually a major highlight for me as it was so flaky, hot, crispy and had an amazing garlic flavor. The chocolate pot de creme had a good orange zest flavor to add to the chocolate and wasn't too rich or heavy though the texture was thicker. The calamari had super crispy batter so didn't associate it as much with a lighter tempura one but the lemons in it and the roasted garlic marinara sauce it came with were so good and added a lot of depth. The butter curry prawns has SUCH well cooked shrimp - flavor was amazing. Miso salmon was good though crispy skin side up would have been better personally. I liked the olive oil flavor in the vinaigrette and the lemon with veggies on the side as well. The tres leches was surprisingly light for a cake and very moist so I enjoyed a lot and the caramel ice cream wasn't overly sweet. The lychee vodka drink is my favorite (came with a drink pairing they offered with Sunday omakase) and the imperial gold yuzu cocktail is better for those who like a stronger drink. The grilled asparagus was cooked to a tenderness with great flavor from the crispy onions on top that have somehow made it among my top favorite dishes here, despite it just being a small side vegetable dish but I didn't like asparagus until this! I would definitely recommend coming here for dinner over brunch personally, as those have been my most memorable bites. Definitely order the yellowtail sashimi, shrimp toast, gem lettuces Caesar salad! Hoping the garlic butter crab noodles, grilled asparagus with crispy onions, and housemade roti reappear on the dinner menu!

When we were finally seated we had to ask for menus once we could catch a server a few minutes later. Some of us ordered drinks and we put in our food orders right away in case our waiter wouldn't come back, since everything had taken so much time already. Our coffees did come but no creamer as discussed, so again we had to flag down a waiter (always took a few attempts) before we could enjoy our coffees. Luckily, our food came out so fast! Our food was in front of us in about 10 minutes from ordering which was insane compared to the rest of the service. Our meals were delicious too! I had the breakfast burrito and did need more salsa for the other half (we had to flag down a server again). My husband gave up waiting for more salsa for his last half of his burrito and just ate it without. My friends had the smoked salmon bagel, avocado toast, and American breakfast. Everyone's meals were honestly fantastic. Finally at the end of our meal, we had to flag down our server to get our check. We ended up just paying with him as soon as he brought the check so we didn't have to wait any longer. The food is worth it but we wouldn't go back intentionally just due to lack of service.

It's located in the old Clock Tower building, and the Art Deco decor is absolutely stunning--dark enough to hide a bad day but vibrant enough for a girls' night. The Vibe: It's loud, lively, and perfectly "bohemian chic". If you're coming on a weekend, prepare for a crowd, but it's the good kind of crowded where everyone looks like they just came from a gallery opening. The Food: I'm still thinking about the Crispy Chicken Sandwich--it was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and came with a fennel-apple slaw that actually felt fresh. We also shared the Bacon Wrapped Dates (obviously) and the Hand Cut Kennebec Fries, which arrive in a bowl so huge it could basically be its own zip code. The Drinks: Their Happy Hour is arguably the best in the city. I had the Japanese Dream with matcha, and it was expertly crafted--not too sweet, which is my biggest pet peeve. The "Misfit" Moment: The service can be a tiny bit slow when it's "rammed," and there's a 4% kitchen fee that feels a bit unnecessary, but they make up for it with those complimentary sea salt chocolate chip cookies at the end. They are warm, gooey, and life-changing. One major heads-up: I heard a rumor they might be closing their doors on April 18th due to some landlord drama, so get there while you still can.

The restaurant itself was very cool, it had an old diner feel but with the decor, lighting and music it was hip and trendy. All the tables were full and the menu looked very interesting. They took old diner staples and modernized it. Great concept!! We started off with garlic bread which was two pieces of cibata bread with 3 bulbs of roasted garlic in olive oil. The presentation was beautiful and while it was messy, it was yummy. The ratio of garlic to bread was off. There was so much garlic and only two pieces of bread. It should have been 4 pieces. For dinner, I ordered the crispy chicken (fried chicken) with greens which was very good. The breading was spiced perfectly and the chicken was moist and yummy. My husband went for the cheese burger, cooked medium rare with fries. Unfortunately, the burger came out well done and Johnny immediately took it back to and had another burger made. After a long while and mind you I had to eat by myself kind of killing the experience, the burger came back and again it was more well than medium which was very frustrating. Johnny and the manger of the restaurant stopped by and asked to do it again and he declined. They said they will take it off the bill which was very nice. The bill came and when I reviewed it, we saw the billed included both burgers (original and the replacement) with the two credits, as well as, a 4 percent kitchen charge. However, when it summed up the tip, it based it on everything that came to our table. For example, the original bill if everything was perfect should have been $75 it added the replacement burger and I increased it to $100. So the calculated 20% tip was $20 based on the $100. My check balance with the burger credit was $62 including tax, plus a $19 tip. I knew exactly what was going on but since Johnny was an attentive and good waiter we wanted to make sure he was compensated for his work. I wasn't going to make a big deal about the 4% for the kitchen but in this case, it was there incompetence that caused the problem and that should have never been passed to us. Overall, would we go back to Diner Antoinette on our next holiday to Santa Monica, probably not.

The mains that are wood-fired are delicate and delicious. I appreciate all the bold wine pairings, especially with meat. Wood-roasted bone marrow was incredible! The duck breast was moist and sweet! My husband got the lamb shank, which was by far the best with bold Middle Eastern flavors like zhoug and labneh. You must try!

Tar & Roses is a mixed bag with one genuine high point…read more The menu is where it lost me. It swings from Vietnamese small plates to a straightforward steak, and the range never settles into a point of view -- it reads less like a confident eclectic kitchen than a grab bag. The fried red snapper was the standout: crisp, well-cooked, good enough to stand on its own. It came with a fish sauce for dipping that it didn't need -- a wedge of lemon on the side would have suited it far better. The Vietnamese crab cake was a real miss; I couldn't get past it. The dumplings were fine but forgettable. Service ran to extremes. Our server was warm and eager, almost too eager -- he pushed a bottle of wine we weren't sold on, and we ordered it anyway. Then, after all that attentiveness, he disappeared toward the end of the meal and never came back. The wine list was fine, nothing memorable. There's real skill in that kitchen -- the snapper proves it -- but the meal never added up to more than its parts. I left full, not delighted.
