The roast pork egg foo yung was excellent, The shrimp with lobster sauce was a disappointment. The shrimp were nice but the "lobster sauce" was a diluted egg drop soup at best with a couple of mushroom pieces and some cut up zuccini in it. I would not order it again. read more

I'm a tough critic and a definite Chinese food snob. While unassuming in its strip mall location next to Publix, #1 was was completely legit! I was very happily surprised at the quality. Teriyaki Beef appetizer was tender, perfect char, and delicious. It was also fairly priced for 4 good skewers. The full order of BBQ spareribs were amazing, and were much more tender than what I am accustomed to at high end Asian restaurants in the Washington DC area. The Kung Pao chicken was made with all white meat (my request), and just peanuts and scallions (also my request). Those requests aside, it had lots of chicken, perfect spice, and I loved the char on the chicken. Solid "A", which I rarely award for Kung Pao. Last we ordered the Szechuan Shrimp - it was delicious. Large shrimp, nice spicy sauce, and plenty of shrimp pieces where they could have easily skimped, but instead we found 10-12 large prawns in the entree. Don't be fooled by the strip mall and carry-out only. These folks are making authentic food, generous portions, and it's 100% legit. We ordered takeout from here about a week ago. We hadn't had Chinese food since moving back to Florida. I'm always passing this place by and there always seems to be customers picking up their food, so I figured I would give them a try. I ordered a General Tso's combo with pork fried rice as well as a Pepper Steak with Onion combo with pork fried rice. Both dishes were very good. The General Tso's was both sweet and spicy with tender chicken pieces. The Pepper Steak had very tender beef and plenty of it. The portion sizes were both on par with other Chinese takeout restaurants. What was disappointing was that the pork fried rice was super dry. Almost as if the rice had not been cooked long enough. It was so under-cooked that we both just left it alone. Maybe it was a rushed batch. I just don't know, but it was a turnoff because we really love a good pork fried rice. Additionally, we ordered an egg roll and a pint of wonton soup which came with the combos. Both of those were very good. The egg roll was nice and crispy and not greasy at all. We may order again to give the pork fried rice another try. If not for that, I'd have given a 4th, or possibly a 5th star based on the items we did enjoy. read more

Since I was sick and didn't feel like cooking, we ordered through Uber Eats. I ordered the WonTon Soup. It was OK, but at one point the meat fell out of a WonTon and I thought "What kind of meat is this?" Then I opened all WonTons and they all had a fatty, tough mystery meat in them. I decided to just eat the soup and the wrappers. The Rice was undercooked and it was sticking all over the outside of the box. The egg rolls were way overcooked. My husband was happy with Szechuan Shrimp, although there were only 4 of them. Very disappointing. I've given this place a few different tries over the last few months but I always have the same issues Besides taking over an hour every time for delivery. The food is always cold and always inaccurate. Order a large wonton soup. Ok they will charge you for a large and send you a small. Between food accuracy and the inability to get the food here at least warm it will be the last time I order from them. The secret to ordering well at #1 Wok is to order vegetarian. The Vegetable Chow Mei Fun in particular is always delicious, with skinny noodles, a variety of Chinese veg and little bits of egg. A vegetarian alternative to the egg roll is their Spring Rolls, which are smaller, cabbage-stuffed fried wonton wrappers, but you get two per order. I don't care for their mustard packets, so I use my favorite mustard from home with the rolls. And don't shy away from ordering one of their all vegetable dishes. Whenever I order a broccoli dish or the string beans and we're sharing the meal family style, mine is always the first to disappear. The sauce on those veg is so delicious that even my kids will eat them. My husband likes a little more protein so he gets the Home Style Bean Curd, which is deep fried tofu (chewy in a good way), Chinese veg, and brown sauce. You can order online, and they will have your order ready when promised. And besides being slightly healthier for you, the vegetarian dishes will also save you a couple bucks per quart. They have a few tables for indoor dining in a pinch, but usually leave the doors open, so it can get warm in there. I prefer takeout personally. They pack the food so that it stays quite hot until it gets home. This might seem like an ordinary strip mall Chinese joint, but its staff are friendly, and have a knack for vegetarian dishes. read more

They have moved to pre-cooking a number of items, including egg rolls and fried rice, so sometimes, the food is not as hot or fresh as it could be.
