They always have good and tasty food. I'd like a little more protein included as it is a little pricey. But overall it is excellent food.

I recently gave them another go because I was starving and craving boneless spare ribs. They were cooked to perfection. The fried rice actually had lots of veggies. I cant believe they have actually turned things around. The owner at the counter used to me a little almost borderline mean. This time she was very pleasant. Not that China Garden is really a Chinese restaurant, it's more of a take out place with 2 tables. They get just an OK business, located in the strip mall with Winn Dixie and CVS. The food is just OK. The sweet and sour sauce you could tell was just out of a container and heated up. The chicken was good as was the beef and broccoli. The egg rolls were on the smaller side and slightly overdone. The combos come with an egg roll. When we went in to order our takeout, there was no one else in there. The woman taking our order was a little impatient with us - not like there was anything else better going on. The price was normal, what I would expect, not the inexpensive Pine Island rates you find on the island. The food here is much better than Les Oriental in Matlacha. read more

I hate to leave a bad review for a local restaurant, but this has to be the worst Chinese take-out I have ever had! I read the bad reviews, but I wanted Chinese. I didn't want to leave the island and decided to give it a try. I ordered and should have cancelled the order immediately when I was told it would be ready in 10 minutes!!! Nothing about the food was fresh! The special fried rice was disgusting! Clearly it had ALL been made days earlier. In the 10 minutes they had only managed to microwave it to a lukewarm temperature! I could have spent half the money and gotten some frozen Chinese from the Winn Dixie. NEVER again! I am only giving it two stars because I did not get food poisoning. read more

3 stars is generous for this place, Every time I swear it will be my last. We are locals and during season it can be a hassle to leave the island but next time I will go to Winn Dixie and get frozen. The sesame chicken was edible but chewy, like it had been sitting around awhile. The fried rice wasn't even edible, it tasted off, vinegary. The egg rolls were adequate, no sauces offered. If you are craving Chinese, bite the bullet and leave the island or try something different, just about every other restaurant on the island is better, including Subway. read more

Our first time at this restaurant in the Winn-Dixie shopping mall in St James City, a busy mall. There are 4 tables there, but it's a takeout place with zero ambiance. Super Hubby ordered the Hawaii Five O and I ordered the boneless rib combination plate. He liked his dish, which was full of vegetables and seafood. It came with a side of white rice. My ribs were kind of chewy, a little dry and had more fat than I would like, but the taste was good and the portions were generous. It came with roast pork fried rice and an egg roll. Overall the food was acceptable--good but not great. Prices were reasonable. Our favorite Chinese place, Chen's China Bistro in Cape Coral--has kind of spoiled us. I believe China Garden has been there for 12 years, and lucky for them, they have no competition in St James City and they're in an ideal location. The tables only had salt and pepper, and they apparently don't have sauce packets... if they did, maybe you have to ask for them, but nothing (sriracha, hot mustard, soy sauce) was offered to us. Service was fine, but management needs to pay attention to things like the dirty windows and door, which looked like it had not been cleaned in 12 years... not a very appetizing view when you eat in and are looking at it. I'm sure passersby have passed on walking in after looking at the grungy glass alone. read more

Fast Chinese takeout. Its your standard Chinese food, and the husband and wife that work there are actually Chinese. So please forgive any communication issues. They are really nice, shy and their English isn't 100%, but they do try. I'll call in an order for 8 people and they have it ready in 15min. My favorite is the pork dumplings. They are also open late and everyday of the week. Perfect for when no one feels like cooking. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE We have eaten at this place a few times before and it was always Ok, nothing special. The last time we ordered pork with oyster sauce and the place could not figure out how to make oyster sauce ( it was way to sour). We told them about it and they said we did not know good oyster sauce and maybe should not order that. When we ordered yesterday vegetable fried rice, pork fried rice and general tso chicken, the fried rice was so gummy and sticky we brought it back. The woman told us it came from the same pot of rice and it could not have been like that. We gave her the container, she opened it and said you eat some. Well of course we ate some. We bought it to eat it and upon trying it found the problem. She said nothing is wrong with this and handed it back. We again told her it was gummy and did not taste good. She just said there is nothing wrong and wanted us to take it back. We told her to keep it and we will not come back. We want everyone to know that this place does not care what customers think and they only want the money no matter how they get it. NASTY PEOPLE WHO RUN IT. read more
