The chicken was so rubbery I literally couldn't chew it, and the vegetables and sauce had a bizarre, overly sweet, heavily seasoned flavor. The rice was incredibly dry and tasteless. Honestly, the sweet spice made me suspicious that they were trying to cover up old ingredients. I ended up throwing out my meal all together. I've been going to Tung Hing for over 20 years. It's always been a decent "go-to" when all others come and go. Twice in 4 weeks though, ordered lemon chicken and it's been terrible, sorry to say. The chicken seems like it was cooked once without batter and then later battered and fried leaving the chicken super dry, tough, thin, and not good overall. Shrimp Lo Mein was really good as were the egg rolls but, the fried rice seemed similar to the chicken, not freshly cooked that day. By far the worst customer service of any dining establishment that I have ever been to in Southwest Florida. I've been here 3 times because the prices are affordable but the food is average at best. I ordered today and specifically asked for chicken and shrimp in my order, which I was willing to pay more for. I paid the $4 extra and only received shrimp. I then contacted the restaurant to report the problem and the woman on the phone was very rude and was unwilling to do anything to make things right. Most of the dinners that this restaurant serves are very soupy and leak through the take-out package which it's served in. This makes the dinners that they serve very difficult to eat. If you don't want to accidentally get sauce all over your kitchen table and possibly even your clothes, stay away. Far, far away! Overall, AVOID at all costs. I couldnt eat the kung pao chicken or mongolian beef. It tasted terrible. I dont know what is going on but the meat is not fresh and their brown sauce is horrible. My boyfriend surprised me and took me out to this restaurant for dinner tonight and we both thought it was *AMAaaaZING*. It was our first time there and it gets high points on all fronts from us. Price: Awesome. The same or cheaper than the take-out places near us. None of that nonsense of charging you for crispy noodles like at the take out place. We also requested black tea and that was free with the meal, as was the extra rice that we requested. I will never get Chinese take-out again, I will just drive the extra 10 minutes and eat in at Tung Hing. Service: Great. Our server was adorable and super friendly and helpful. Knew the menu well and able to make recommendations for vegetarians. Atmosphere: Pretty nice. We ordered this Tuesday afternoon and it took over two hours for the food to be delivered even though this place is 6 minutes from the hotel. My boyfriend called when it was 20 til two hours of waiting and the person answering the phone told us the driver was already there, we waited another half hour after that for our food to arrive. We had been searching for a good chinese restaurant where one could actually sit and enjoy the meal. After several chinese take-out disasters I remembered Tung Hing Restaurant tucked away in a small strip mall.It was the first chinese restaurant I had eaten at 10 years ago when I first moved to Fort Myers. The restaurant was clean, we were promptly welcomed and made ourselves at home.The service was relaxed and our server friendly. She returned with a bowl of the crispy noodles and duck sauce-we were truely home ! The food was delicious-spring rolls , steamed dumplins, beef with mushrooms and I tried the vegetable udon noodles.
