Love this place! We celebrated our one year anniversary dinner here and we were both impressed! The space itself is nice with it's various paintings and oversized ceiling fans for decorative effect. However, our server mentioned they were going to do some remodeling in the next few weeks so the space will look differently. Note most of their food is locally sourced from their farm and if it's not they do their best to source local ingredients. That being said, husband and I both appreciated this and this made their food even more delicious. We ordered appetizers, main course and dessert. Appetizers - *Crab Cakes - This was good, but I thought there was too much breading. The crab was nice and fresh though. Plus the sauce it came with was delicious. Really added more flavor to the crab cake. *Truffle fries - Love truffles so adding them to fries is always a great idea. Main Courses - *House made fettucine with hazelnuts, egg, pesto and cheese. - This was delicious and with generous amounts of hazelnut. The egg came in the middle, I mixed it together to make a pasta egg goodness. Loved this! Now in order to appreciate this you do need to like hazelnut as it come with a good amount of them. *Salmon - husband ordered this and he enjoyed it, but this dish came with leeks and he thought there were too many. He's not a big leek fan, but if you are then this won't be a problem for you. I had a bite and the fish was nicely cooked and flavorful. Dessert - *House made raspberry sorbet - I love raspberry so I enjoyed this, a bit tart and sweet. *Chocolate ganache - This had a delicious sauce with it and also the honeycomb was a nice touch. Service was good. Our server was new but very helpful. We enjoyed our meal here and would come back if we find ourselves back in Victoria.

Where we are tonight, very nice ingredients, food grows like mad up here; probably similar to Wisconsin; several restaurants in same complex; bistro; large commons; fine dining at "kitchen"; detail of prep is 4/5; otherwise impeccable provenance, great flavors and quality all around; had really nice BC wines to pair( rose sparkling, whites) Oh, and the fruit sorbet!!!!!!! On a list of top five in Victoria so far!

This restaurant has a menu chock full of humanely and locally sourced proteins and produce. This not only has moral appeal but it also makes everything taste utterly delicious. The inside has a cool vibe but the outdoor patio is the place to sit with overstuffed comfy couches and individual fire features at each table. Definitely a good option for happy hour as well.

FOOD Tomahawk Steak ($196) You need to wait 45 minutes but if you and 2-3 friends can wait, it's tender and worth it! Side: Brussels Sprouts ($13) Interesting how they serve just the leaves here (no stems). I found the cheese topping a little too much but some others at our table enjoyed them. Side: Sautéed Mushrooms ($14) They were good, but the portion size was underwhelming as everyone at the table noticed. Calamari ($22) A good appetizer to share; this was something we would all do again/ Lobster Seafood Feast ($194) Clams, mussels, salmon, shrimp, scallops, crab cakes, and of course, a lobster to booth - it's likely best shared between 4 people, but it's pretty good (see picture)! It came with potatoes and vegetables which were cooked well. Caesar Salad ($18) Shareable between 2 people, this was tasty. Kid's Meal - Grilled Cheese Sandwich ($14.50) It may be a little disappointing considering the price (drink is still optional) but they did use thick-slice Texas Toast and the fries were from fresh potatoes. Missouri Buttercake ($15.50) The good folks of Missouri are lucky to enjoy this tasty treat! === 3. SERVICE We had a lady from Ireland serve us and she was fantastic and patient with our large group and my little one! === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's a little on the dark side like all steakhouses and a little cramped in that I would not bring our baby stroller in here unless we really had to. Wheelchair's may or may not ingress not fit easily. Beyond that, the envvironment what clean and not unlike many darker-toned steakhouses around the continent. Parking is the big challenge - during tourist season in Victoria, you may be hard-pressed to find a street spot or decently priced parking garage in downtown Victoria!

My ahi tuna was perfectly cooked and artfully presented on couscous with kale. My wife had the sablefish and the flavor was rich and delicious. The fish was firm and flaky. We split a flourless chocolate greenish. Pay parking was C$6 for 2 hours in a lot next to the building but up 40 steps to the restaurant. ,. Service was excellent. Our only negative was that the tables on the outside deck were very close together. We had to move one of them to allow me to get into my chair. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you need a "quick bite" or have fussy kids who will become impatient. But, if you're ok to sit and enjoy a bit you will find the service fine. As a vegetarian, I was delighted that there were ample options for me to choose from without modifications necessary. This didn't stop me from ordering the delicious cavatelli with pesto and goat cheese for two nights in a row, but I loved having options! While dining with a larger group, the person who had the chicken and the person who had the short rib, both agreed their dishes were possibly the best preparation they'd ever had. The one complaint was that some in our group felt their dish was over salted. After enjoying the pastries at duo earlier in the day, I knew dessert was going to be worth it. We ordered the earl grey bar, the apple cake, and several other little bites. All were delighted with their selection. These desserts are on the smaller side (maybe about 4-5 bites each) so I do not recommend sharing. At breakfast, I had the avocado toast which was likewise delicious. They kept the coffee hot. Aura consistently exceeded my expectations.

Right at the door, they told us we'd be "needing to wait." We waited over 30 minutes before finally being seated. Once seated, another 20 minutes passed with no water and no acknowledgment from staff. It felt like we'd been placed in the restaurant's awkward introvert corner. Finally, a disrespectful waitress acknowledged us, took our drink orders, and then we waited another 20-30 minutes just for a simple glass of milk for our 10-year-old. By then, the kid was already eyeing the exit. Our waitress approached with the warmth and enthusiasm of a DMV employee on a Monday morning. Her attitude was dismissive and condescending from the start--acting like our presence was an imposition on her perfect day. We ordered: my partner chose the Wild Mushroom Agnolotti, I went for the Aura 6 oz Beef Striploin and a Margherita, and our child ordered a cheeseburger. Thirty minutes later, with our hungry and restless child losing patience, I politely asked for an update. The waitress responded with a condescending tone, "This isn't a fast food joint." I immediately asked to speak to the manager, who, to their credit, handled it professionally and did their best to de-escalate. The food finally arrived--and surprisingly, it was really good. The steak was solid, the agnolotti hit the mark, the burger kept the kid happy, and the Margherita was decent. After that, we had minimal interaction with our server, which honestly was a relief. The food was the bright spot amid an otherwise miserable experience. The slow, disorganized service, her snarky attitude, and the feeling that we were treated like second-class citizens the moment we arrived with a child left a terrible taste that no steak could remove. The high prices only made the disappointment sting more. I will never recommend Aura Waterfront to anyone visiting Victoria, BC. If you're traveling with kids, especially, steer clear--you'll be treated as an inconvenience rather than a valued guest. Save your money and sanity for somewhere that actually appreciates your business.
