Emma C is phenomenal waitress. We had reservations and sat on the patio for almost two hours. We shared the dinner for two, and it was perfection! Great portions, good filets, and generous portions for two people. The crème brûlée was delicious, and so were their specialty drinks. I would highly recommend this restaurant. My only draw back, was how dirty the glass was on the patio, it should be cleaned daily. read more

Other than the rather off-putting hostess who greeted us up front, every other server we interacted with during our pre-boarding snack next door to the ferry terminal was wonderful, including the gaggle of them that helped to unlock the second door leading to the patio, as our son's troller was too wide to fit with it being only halfway open. They had to fetch the tallest waitress to reach the top latch to get it open! After that little crisis was averted, we scored a nice table on the patio overlooking the harbor, and ordered the Shrimp and Crab Dip for Two, to share. When it arrived, in all its warm, cheesy, gooey deliciousness, we made quick work of it, loving every delicious bite! I also polished off a nice, well-mixed Old Fashioned to assuage the encroaching sadness about our upcoming departure from Victoria. Our waitress was friendly, boisterous and attentive, juggling a handful of tables, including one that was quite obviously populated with her mom and sister; the family resemblance was incredibly apparent, as was their familial behavior. While on any other day, I would tend to avoid a restaurant mere steps from a point of disembarkation, as they tend to be tourist traps, Steamship does a commendable job of what they do, and are definitely worth a stop to grab a bite and a drink, on the way in to Victoria, as well as on the way out, and any time in-between. read more

We had a late lunch/dinner here during an hour wait for our ferry to Seattle. We sat on the outdoor deck and had a great view of the harbor. The food was good and the drinks were tasty. Our server was very friendly and efficient. It's located right next to the entrance, around the corner, to the ferry terminal so it was really convenient. It was a really relaxing and classy way to end our visit to beautiful Victoria. read more

Had a 7-year old Havana Club on the rocks to start. Can't get it in the US so had to indulge. Spouse had a salmon bowl which was good. I hatartex with the seafood chowder which was very good. Entree was steelhead (trout, but similar to a light salmon), veggies, and jasmine rice. Very good. One of our "go-to places" in Victoria. Great bay views if you sit outside. read more

The patio seating offers amazing views and atmosphere (when construction isn't going on 20 feet away), but the food is pretty mediocre. The service was adequate, considering how busy the patio was. We had several different dishes, with the favorite being the goat cheese, beet, and arugula salad -- the contrast of textures and flavors make this salad a pleasure for the palate. The clam chowder was very good, but maybe a little on the milky side, and could have used a peppery kick. The Caesar salad I got with the chowder had fresh greens, but it was dressed a little too lightly, with little tang to the dressing. The other dish we got was fettuccine Alfredo with the addition of grilled chicken. The Alfredo sauce was horribly underseasoned, and had to be the most bland tasting pasta I've had in a long time. Likewise, the grilled chicken also needed better seasoning. The overall experience was okay, but nothing stellar. read more

At the end of our trip to the Butchart Gardens from SW WA, we discovered this amazing restaurant sharing real estate with Starbucks and just a few steps away from the Black Ball Ferry Line. The perfect place for lunch and hanging out while waiting for our ferry. The employees were friendly & attentive, dining room was very clean, and had plenty of seating w/lots of tables by the windows. Now for the important part! Since this was our 1st time dining here I can only speak to what we ordered but if this was an example of the rest of the menu, we'll def be back "next time" we visit BC! Hubby Thoroughly enjoyed the Lunch Sized Chicken Fettuccine with marinara & garlic toast and I took a gamble on their West Coast Salmon Bowl even though the ingredients sounded dangerously "Yuppie" to me. It had things I never would've thought about putting together in the same dish but WOW! It was so delicious! It was also huge! The grilled Salmon was tender and tasty (not "fishy") and good sized. I couldn't finish it! It could've easily been shared. Like many of the places downtown there is free WiFi. Oh, the Red Sangria was pretty good, too. I did manage to finish that! read more

Great spot to enjoy lunch or happy hour with drinks and appetizers on the outdoor patio. It's also heated and blankets provided upon request on the cooler days or evenings. It's overpriced as it sits right in the clippers and tourist walking strip but the service and small bites were great. The Ahi Tuna appetizer was recommended and we couldn't get enough. We decided to go to this place following a negative interaction with The Flying Otter hostess nearby, who just so happened to "close the patio" on a busy and sunny Saturday afternoon. Thankfully, we made it for happy hour and into the early dinner hours and were pleasantly surprised by the drink and food menu. Another plus was that our waitress was fantastic. The positive vibes were all around, and we appreciated the pretty views on the outdoor patio. We had a full view of the Empress across the way and the Inner Harbour. From the patio seating, we got to see several watercraft landing and taking off, plus the many water taxis, boat tours, Clipper, and other ferry/fisherman boats arriving or taking off. There was plenty to see, and this historical, previous steamship station-turned restaurant and patio did not disappoint. The inside of the restaurant was also lovely, and if we return in winter, it will be a nice environment to enjoy a meal. The con of the place could come down to the bathroom situation, which I noticed a few other reviewers mention as an issue as well. You have to go to the back of the restaurant and wait for the elevator to take you to the third floor, or walk up the steps, your choice, and the bathrooms are shared with the nearby Ferry station. As for the food, we were pleasantly surprised with our dishes, we ordered the crab cakes and crab bisque and two rounds of oysters for the table, the seafood linguini, plus a bunch of local beers, a mojito, and other cocktails. I highly recommend the drunken doughnuts; those are a must. They were soo good! If you can take advantage of their happy hour, it's worth it. If we ever visit the area, we'll return for the fresh seafood and views. read more

The location for this restaurant is very nice. When we got there, there are many tables that had not been busted yet. So it did not give a good impression. I ordered the crabcake and seafood bisque. The soup was outstanding. The crabcakes were too bready. My husband had the seafood linguine and enjoyed it. We had the drunken donuts for dessert that was enjoyed by all. Our service was outstanding, which is why the restaurant received four stars. If you want a good view, this is a great restaurant to go to. The food is average. read more

Great location right near the Black Ball ferry and Hotel Grand Pacific. Eat here most trips to Victoria. Has indoor and outdoor seating. Location is right on the water-service is fast and friendly. Service was quick and I was surprised how slow it was since our hotel across the street was completely booked for the Victoria whiskey festival. We ordered our drinks. They came very quickly. Our food was also out quickly. I ordered the lobster ravioli and the ravioli was definitely al dente with little to no lobster. Needless to say I didn't finish it but not because it was too bad to finish because all the sudden I saw mice on the floor running back-and-forth I quickly called the waitress over hoping that other guests wouldn't see them but she knew they had mice not a mouse mice. She said they are on dock and they get pest control weekly, but with how many we saw while having dinner I couldn't eat another bite. I usually don't leave reviews on restaurants but I left here feeling very disappointed for such an expensive meal. My fiancée and I were so excited to try this spot out, huge building with a view on the water. When we sat down we noticed that the tables were sticky and very low, we kept having to hunch over when we ate our food. The service was really slow, we kept hearing that the bar and kitchen were backed up. We got the chowder and crab and shrimp dip to start dinner, both were good but the chowder was very runny, more so a bisque than a chowder. Then we ordered the steak and seafood platter for two. The crab portion was very small and our crab was cold, the ahi tuna was very overcooked, our steaks were burnt, the mashed potatoes were dry, and the shrimp was salty. We booked this reservation on open table and let them know we were celebrating our engagement, nobody acknowledged that and asked us why we were in town. If this bill was half of the price I would maybe understand the service and food quality but this was a major letdown. read more
