Mixed experience. I enjoyed my shrimp and grits. They loaded it up with sausage and have about 3-4 large shrimp. The grits had a good consistency and was brothier than I'm used to, but I liked that aspect. The wife had a terrible veggie burger. The patty was really mushy almost to the consistency of mashed potatoes. It fell out of the bun in globs. Service was slow but our server was patient and did a pretty good job of keeping up on our drinks. read more

Went with my husband Saturday night. The place was somewhat busy, but there was no wait. Note for people trying to avoid Covid - the waitstaff was NOT masked (and who knows about vaccination status), so eat there at your own risk. My husband had a burger and fries. I didn't try the burger, but he said he liked it. The fries were excellent - perfect texture and nice seasoning. I had the butternut squash pierogi and a side of brussels sprouts. The sprouts were yummy - good flavor and texture. The pierogi were a little disappointing. Overall they had a good flavor, but the dough for the pierogi was too thick and chewy, and I don't know what they did to the squash filling, but it had the texture and color of cheez whiz, which I found really unappetizing. I think this could be a really great dish (and I might try making it at home), but the execution was mediocre. But in general we liked the place and found the atmosphere comfortable and the food decent (and decently priced), so we'll likely be back. read more

This was my first time to 101 but it was very nice. I was visiting and came with a friend and her child. It is a very kid-friendly place as they had crayons, a good kids menu selection and a fun food presentation on a elementary-like tray. I was pleased they served Fat Head's Bumbleberry, along with a large selection of other craft beers. They even had coffee. The food was delicious, and atmosphere was fun and friendly. I will definitely be back to 101 when I am in the Columbus area read more

We just love 101 beer kitchen! Went there Sunday for brunch and had the BELT pizza. It was delicious. Everything is always packed full of flavor and service is always good. For dinner we try something different every time. The wedge salad with chicken is My absolute favorite. I have liked everything I've eaten there and my fiancé feels the same! Had a reunion brunch here on Thanksgiving weekend and it truly was a perfect place. I was hesitant because they do not take reservations but we showed up exactly at 11am on a Saturday and were promptly seated. They have round tables which are perfect for group conversations and our waitress was very accommodating and patient. She let us do separate checks and took our group photos. The tater tots, eggs benedict with duck, and lobster mac and cheese were the showstoppers. But the large group loved all their food. I am so thankful they let me change the location from a chain restaurant to this local gem. I'm also thankful there's a new location in Gahanna! read more

We just moved to the Columbus area and had to do some post-unpacking shopping in Dublin. Got hungry (duh) and started Yelping for a place to eat. This popped up, and it was close, so we gave it a try. We weren't disappointed! We started off with the jalapeño poppers. OMG. I could have eaten about 12 of those, so it's a good thing the plate only came with 4 and I had to share with my husband, ha. I then ordered a wedge salad and a bowl of the ale & cheddar soup. Both were delicious. My husband ordered the pesto mussels (I think that's what they were?). He loved it. Oh - and they make amazing old fashioneds. Like, giant ice cube, the good cherry, a piece of orange I can eat afterwards... They are. so. good. We actually came back the next day when my FIL came into town to check out our new place. Ha! We just liked it so much. read more

I didn't have extremely high expectations for this place, as it looks pretty basic from the outside, but the brunch was nothing less than extraordinary. A great selection of beers (including my favorite breakfast beer - Wolf's ridge daybreak) and cocktails like the champagne margarita and spicy Bloody Mary are just the kind of morning cocktail we need in times like these. Next - the food. Avocado toast, but with grilled cheese - do I even need to say anything else? The fresh veggies and balsamic drizzle make this dish unique and fresh, as well as creamy and cheesy. My fiancé ordered the bbq hash which was extremely flavorful as well. We were all pleasantly surprised - I'd love to come back for dinner but will definitely be back for a truly solid and boozy brunch. read more

Let me start off by saying that I have been to 3 different locations (many times) for this restaurant and this experience was not the most pleasant. The hostess team was very friendly and welcoming. Our waitress however (who may have been having a difficult day) was not friendly and seemed a bit rude. We did have a larger party of 11 people. This review is more based on my food. I can't speak for everyone else's food but they changed the menu so I had to adapt to what was offered on the menu. I ordered the short rib poutine. To get straight to the point for everyone, it was not good! I would not call that poutine either. I've had poutine in Quebec at several restaurants and this wasn't even close. None of the flavors went together. The Parmesan fries did not belong. The red wine gravy wasn't a gravy. Pickled onions should be left out. There was something else drizzled on top and an egg; but this dish didn't make sense. So if your looking for poutine you will need to look elsewhere. This dish misses the mark. Always consistently good! We eat here about once a month and love the food in restaurant and carry out. Favorites are the pretzels, salads, and sandwiches. Great beers and drink options. The kids meals are the best in town too and reasonably priced considering you get 2 sides plus a dessert. read more

Yesterday I stopped into 101 Beer Kitchen to go to happy hour with a couple of friends! Happy hour was great you can choose pretty much from any of their drafts as well as several Wells and wines as well. This was a great little place. I have been to this place when it was some of the other places. The location is great so I hope that this place will stick. When we were their we tried the butternut squash soup and the pretzels. Both came with a lot of flavor and taste. The soup was a perfect snack in this cold weather. The beers were good they have a nice selection of Ohio local and other micro breweries and bigger breweries. I wish they had some Columbus Local beers being a beer place in Dublin, Ohio a part of Columbus. The service was really good and they took good care of us all. I would for sure go back to this place again in the future! read more

My fiancee and I came here tonight to see what the rave was all about with this place and to us the restaurant was just different than others. What set this place apart was the ingredients on their pizza that we ordered it was fresh and just different from other places we've tried. I think it's good to try something different once in a while. It was a Hawaiian style pizza with fresh peppers, green onions and a mango or pineapple sauce on top. Then we each ordered the taco salad to share and that was alright. Altogether the meal was worth the try, not sure if I'll come back because it wasn't anything special. read more

I would have probably given them 5 stars, but the hostess was horrible. She acted very put out to have to "help us" she looked disheveled and was pretty rude. Now for the good stuff! Started with deviled eggs, they were amazing, the capers and bacon make them over the top delicious! Decent beer selection, but i would have thought they would have more on tap, but i'm sure you can find one you like with their selection. I got the shrimp and grits and my mom got the Jerk chicken. The grits were a little greasy but delicious, and the shrimp were huge, actually some of the best i've had in a long time. The chicken was also very tasty, but i have to admit my favorite part of that plate was the black eye pea salad. i've never seen this before; it was bursting with flavor and i will definitely get it as my side if i go back. read more

The only thing I don't like about this place is trying to decide what to get. Everything here is amazing. From the craft beer selection (with half off draft happy hour at the bar) and the locally source ingredients, 101 Beer Kitchen delivers. If I could live here I would. Love it. read more

Was ok, but was very disappointed in my pecan crusted chicken. The green beans had no flavor, the mashed potatoes were mush (the chicken was plopped on top of both), the chicken was bland, the sauce on top was tasty. Loved the cheese curds. read more

This place wasn't the best, but it was okay for what I expected. For starters, the tater-tots were a must!!! I strongly recommend trying these at least once and consider going and ordering them as an entree #noshame. In addition to the tots, I ordered the 101 burger, it was HUGE. It was cooked very well and had good flavor and I'm sure most people would be happy with how large it was. It came with fries which were also tasty. So why the 3 stars you ask? I was seated on the booth side of the table and scooted into the corner to find I scooted through a pile of crumbs. (Yes, I was wearing leggings which made this experience feel super strange and gross me out!) but either way, no one likes to sit in someone else's mess. The waiter was very nice and on top of everything. The food was delivered quickly and he checked back several times to ensure we were happy. Other items to note, there was plenty of parking and the hostess' were very nice. Overall, a decent experience, I just recommend looking before you sit and definitely order the tots! read more

Pretty good starters love the pretels and cheese sauce and have really good steaks menchies is right next to it to so if your looking for a dessert after it's right around the corner and the inside is very clean you might get a sticky table once and a while read more

We love 101 Beer Kitchen. Great food. Brilliant service. And, of course, lots of excellent choices of artisan brews on continuous rotation. Things we love: beer cheese spread with pretzels, house-made tater tots and jalapeno poppers, burgers to die for and the occasional special (most recently bangers and German potato salad). Oh... I hardly ever give a place 5 stars but the Shrimp and Grits entree did it. And the spicy Bloody Mary. And the Duck Confit Poutine.... We decided to visit on a Saturday afternoon to get around the reported crowds and the strategy seemed to have worked. Took a while to be recognized but were quickly seated in a booth. The appetizer was the Poutine. Great flavor but a little flat--a lot of meat though. Entrees were the Mac and Cheese (with added lobster) and the Shrimp and Grits (large, meaty shrimp.) Both fantastic and enough for leftovers. Entrees average around $15 but the quality and quantity are definitely there. Draft beer list isn't lengthy but it's well curated (updated list in their site.) If you want a huge list head to The Pint Room nearby. The spicy (warning) Bloody Mary's garnish was so epic it could have been its own appetizer. Best in Columbus? I'll need a few more to decide! The only con is it being in Dublin. Really wish they were downtown. Maybe someday. read more

Atmosphere- A little bit of rustic, a little hipster, and a little modern. The vibe is very casual. Service- A Food- I've been here many times and they have a pretty good balance of flavors in their dishes. Try their fried chicken sandwich at brunch and their wings. We have been here several times over the past two years. We have always had good experiences. The food is always consistently really good. The place is big, so there is never a wait for a table - even for brunch! On our most recent visit, I ordered the beet salad with salmon (it was a side salad, so it was small, but it was perfect for not feeling guilty when ordering the tots as an appetizer! Salmon was simple and delicious!). My husband ordered the pork schnitzel (think of an elevated giant tenderloin sandwich from the fair!) I also love their kids menu. Homemade chicken tenders, cheese quesadilla, house made applesauce, carrot sticks, etc. great healthy options! And they serve it on one of those trays you remember from elementary school! read more

Meet the Business Owner: Thad and Jess K.

Thad and Jess Kittrell opened 101 on October 1, 2012. Prior, Thad trained at The New England Culinary Institute and has enjoyed over 20 years as a chef in the industry. He & Jess met while working at a restaurant in downtown Columbus back in 2003 and dreamed of having a restaurant to call their own and incorporate their two passions - food and beverage! After years of planning, Thad's culinary expertise and Jess' background in finance formed their restaurant company, TJK Kitchens. Thad is the visionary and creator of all products. He enjoys working with our chef teams on menu ideas, team development, and customer service. Jess is the business integrator and oversees the company. She enjoys organizing and planning with the various company departments, dreaming up plans for the future, and being head of all taste-testing.

Unfortunately, service throughout the night was a little spotty. The first round of drinks took a while to come out, the app went missing, our server (who seemed slightly less than enthused all night) took the liberty of snagging an extra one for us, and then our entrees came out right at the same time. I started with the sunrise mojito. Being a bit of a rum snob, I am particularly picky when it comes to rum-based drinks and this one did not disappoint. Probably one of the best takes on a mojito I've had in quite a while. I eventually followed that up with the peach bourbon smash, which was also tasty but pretty heavy on the peach and less on the bourbon. To get started on food, we ordered the street corn nachos. Now, I do love street corn, but something about corn on top of nachos on paper doesn't exactly sound like my personal first choice. However, since my coworker was putting the food on his company card, he went that route. Man, what a mistake I made in my assumption. Absolutely amazing. Gooey cheese, excellent flavors, and not too much to fill you up. My coworker got the shrimp capellini, which looked excellent and he agreed it was solid. I opted for the crispy chicken sandwich (a gochujang aioli? Come on). The sandwich was delicious. The chicken was indeed crispy but also quite juicy. The fries were also delicious being slightly soft, slightly crisp, and not too salty. All in all, a couple service hiccups aside, this was a really fantastic place. I definitely will be sure to make my way back here if I find myself on another work trip for sure!

Highly recommend this dish! The true star of this restaurant is the biscuits, whether it's the cheddar & scallion or the cinnabiscuits. I truly don't think I've had a better biscuit in Columbus. They're THAT good. You can't dine here without ordering one of these options. I love the environment and how friendly all my waiters have been. We used to love 101 Beer Kitchen and often recommended it as a great spot for a family-friendly dinner. Unfortunately, our experience last night was disappointing. While our server was polite, she never checked in on our table. She forgot to bring the milk for our kid's meal, and when I asked to see the menu again after noticing my son's meal only came with one fish stick, she offered to add more but didn't mention the additional cost. The two extra fish sticks ended up costing nearly the price of another kids' meal, which I would have preferred to avoid by ordering something else instead. Throughout the visit, both my husband and I felt rushed and overlooked, which made the experience all the more frustrating. read more

Went there last night for dinner and sat in the bar area for the happy hour. The hostess told us there was a happy hour but didn't give us the details. I got the shrimp and grits and it was awesome. It had sausage in it which isn't always common but I liked it. My wife got the fish tacos and they were good as well. The beer selection is good but I wish they had breweries from Columbus on their menu. I would 9 times out of 10 prefer to buy a local beer vs. one that is brought in from California. If they had more local brews on draft from Elevator, 7 sons, wolf ridge, or north high I would have given it a 5 star. Overall it's great food for the price. read more

My wife and I stopped in one night on a whim and we were quite impressed with the beer selection and the food menu. It's a step above the casual fare you find around town with some more gourmet type ingredients. They were out of my original beer choice, but made a nice recovery with a Founder's Red's Rye. I would definitely go back to this place as the food was good and the beer choices were plentiful. We didn't have to wait for a table at all, but we were there mid week in the evening. Not too impressed. Have not been here in a while.....We went there for dinner last night and the food was marginal. At least the steak was. No one even asked....Our waitress disappeared and someone else presented our check. When we went to the bar, we had one drink and the bartender put our check in the glass. About 10 minutes he just put the check in front of us and said nothing as he poured himself a beer. Guess he was in a hurry to go home and drink. Or drink there. read more

I have been here a lot of times. I love independent restaurants. This place has good food. At the moment they have wild caught salmon. Now they have brunch Saturday and Sunday. The chef is always accommodating to my food requests. The staff is wonderful here. The only criticism is the menu is small and they are small so there are times you can't get in.
