I come here every time I need a smog so I've done business with them for 5+ years, I always grab the coupon form the Valpaks that I get in the mail. (Make sure you have that so you can save a lot of money) I had one problem the very first time I went here, so I think I caught the guy on a bad day but it did not stop me from coming in again, and again. You really can't beat their price, it's the best in town! So if you are complaining about service, go ahead and pay more somewhere else! Give these guys a break, they make the price low for you as a customer, so if they're busy and you have to wait than shame on you for not making a appointment. I have used a competitor in the past several times and been very pleased with that service. I came here this time due to the fact I have 2 cars due at the same time and cost was definitely a factor. I had the coupon and no reservation, at noontime on a Saturday I showed up and was almost instantly being smogged. The employees seemed to be enjoying their day and were very efficient and attentive. I had to get the car smogged and just found this one on line. They were great! I phoned on Tuesday and got a 9:30 appointment for Wednesday morning. I had the car there by 9:25 and rolled of there by 9:44. Everyone I dealt with was professional . They explained how to deal with the DMV . Went to 101 Express Smog yesterday to get my 2005 Toyota Corolla smogged, and was in and out in 2 minutes. I made an appointment for 2pm: I arrived a little early, and was finished and out the door before my appointment time. Very nice and polite young men, great attitude. I'd printed the $20 coupon and brought it with me, and was charged only $40.08. 5-stars means "woohoo! As great as it gets!" Can't imagine how it could get any better than my experience! read more

Went here originally because I got the $39 coupon in the Valpak junk mailer. The service was super fast, efficient, and friendly. Ended up taking all 3 cars there this last year, will only go here from now on. My SUV did cost up to $54, but that's still half the price of all other places I've called, and didn't have to make an appointment. Walk in! This business is very unprofessional and their advertisements are FALSE. His site has a quote of $27.75 for a smog test and if you click on the coupon it is also a 20% off. When I arrived Wednesday morning promptly at 8:00 AM and they were not open, I called at 5 after 8. A man answered and told me his clock did not say 8 yet. About 5 minutes later he opened the gates with a nasty attitude. I pulled up, gave him my paper work and he quoted me a price of $75.00. This took me a back, and I responded with the quote from his website and the 20% off coupon. He told me this was not his coupon, I told him I got it from his website directly. At this point, I could tell this person was not a person who I could trust and want to give my business. So, I kindly said "NO THANK YOU" and left. This is not the end of this Mr. 101 Express Smog, I am reporting this to the Better Business Bureau, and to the California Smog Commission. After speaking to several people yesterday, they too had tried your company and has similar stories. SHAME on you, you wasted 30 minutes of my life that I can never get back..... I took my BMW to this place called Express Smog on Cleveland. I would not recommend this place at all. First off when i pulled up the gentlemen that came out to help me was not friendly at all. He didn't quote me a price he just said to sign here and put your # here. Less than 10 minutes later he was done . The whole time I spoke to this guy he had sunglasses on and a I don't give of _____ look on his face. He said my car just barely failed emissions but passed everything else. He then asked for $114.00 . I was shocked at the price. I asked what can I do to pass ? he said I don't know were a test only. I would have left the minute I pulled up if I knerw it was that much. I called around and he is the highest in town. But more importantly then that is they just don't care. So beware and don't go there they don't deserve your business read more

They made this process as painless as possible! Called and easily got an appointment for the next day after work and received a quote that beat two other local smog shops that offered coupons. I own seven personal vehicles, and several work vehicles that require smog inspection. I have been using 101 Express Smog for all of them for several years now. In the past, I have received very good service. They always seemed to get me in and out without a hitch. The employees are helpful and focus on getting the smog inspection finished. Today, I brought my older Ford Explorer in for the inspection. As I got to the entrance (north driveway), I saw a Police Officer standing on the sidewalk talking to a person, partially blocking the driveway. I decided to pass the north driveway and enter the south driveway. I did not want to distract the Police Officer from his job at hand. I parked my vehicle and walked to the smog station. I was met by a very angry employee who told me "You drove in the exit, don't do it again", I told him the other driveway was blocked. He looked at another vehicle that was parking and said "They came in the right way". (From where he was, he was unable to actually see the entrance). Realizing this employee was bent on arguing with me, I simply said "Well, it does not matter now, I just need to get my truck smoged". He responded by telling me "it does matter, you will not drive in the wrong way". I said alright and completed his required paperwork. Needless to say I was shocked at the treatment I received. I understand he was upset about which driveway I took, to arrive at his shop, to spend my money. But, there are better ways to handle his grievances. I will consider taking my vehicles to another smog shop in the future. read more

They are OK and did my smog check quickly. However, they didn't close the hood of my van all the way. I didn't notice for several days and thought something was wrong but what? When I used my key lock there was no usual chirp and there was a strange noise when driving. Not very loud but a faint knocking noise. Several days after I did notice that the hood was very slightly ajar, not closed all the way. This was just a minor thing for me but if they leave other things unattended it could be dangerous. No attention to detail, check things for yourself. I haven't received my tags yet although I paid DMV the same day. So I hope they sent the PASS SMOG in correctly and didn't forget that!!! read more

Price Hike! I have used 101 Express Smog many times in the past because they were fast, easy and affordable BUT affordable no more! The cost went up by over $20, so even with the coupon for $20 off it still cost me $72.99! (regular car - test only). Last time I went I paid about $53. The only reason I left a five start review is because they promised to send me $5 back if I did and contacted them when I did. I left a 5 star review and called and let them know. They assured me they were sending me $5. I went in with a coupon that was pretty much the lowest around. I show up and the guy tells me $85 because SUV's cost more. It does not say anywhere on the coupon that SUV's or trucks cost more. What it does say in tiny 4 point text is "most cars" I laughed and thought he was joking. As I was about to tell this guy where he could go with his BS the manager or owner came up and said he would do it for $50 and then told me about the yelp deal. These guys pull this with the senior citizens and women mostly. I think the smog techs working there have to get a certain amount for the boss and anything over they split or something. As soon as I arrived I was met at the door with the paperwork I needed to fill out, and l5 minutes later I was out the door, and paid a very reasonable price, with no add-ons because of the make of my car (which has happened elsewhere in the past) or anything else -- Very professional, efficient, friendly service from the two people I interacted with and a separate, bright, clean waiting area that was unexpected, but nice to have if one has to wait for any reason. These guys were so rude. I called 1 week before and made an apointment and asked what I should do if I lost my registration renewal form and they said come on in and they could just use my VIN number. When I arrived they said "NO" they could not do my renewal and were very, very rude to me. I have 2007 vehicle so all they had to do was scan my door barcode--they didn't have to do any extra work due to my misplaced paperwork.Do no go here the "kids" that work here are rude and ignorant. I called to make a morning appointment, and he had me scheduled first thing the next morning - NICE! I had a coupon for $31.25 + certificate cost. When I got there 5 minutes before my appointment, they were just pulling up to the shop themselves. They were quick - I was in & out in about 15 minutes. They are also nice, but I was miffed about the coupon. Yes, the coupon says $31.25 + certificate cost, but if you have an SUV (mine is actually a crossover), they'll add on another $20, plus you have all the taxes & fees. Ultimately, it cost me $60 when I was expecting about $35. I don't mind paying the $60, if that's the cost, but I don't like "hidden" costs. Don't make it seem like it's a good deal by using a coupon, when you're going to charge 100% of the coupon cost by the time you get out the door. That's sneaky to me. Despite being quick & friendly, based on the hidden costs, I don't know that I would go back. No one likes to feel like they're being "ripped off". read more
