I have used this location for my smog a few times. Everytime the employees are nice and efficient. Today, I called hoping I could get my car in day of. When I called, the gentleman told me straight up that he was booked, but if I could bring the car in right away he would work my car in. I needed to smog a 1995 Ford F150. They gave me a great quote! Unfortunately, they could only do the smog on Fridays after 10 am when I tried to book. Reason given was that "Vehicles 1995 -1976 require a much more comprehensive test hence it helps to use two technicians". I didn't know that. And they only have two technicians on Fridays. In past years, I have had great service from this shop, but as they've gotten busier, they've started not answering the phones (maybe they should hire someone to just answer phones and make appts). They were very welcoming over the phone and got right on my truck once I arrived. Upon my return, they failed my truck for a part that had been on the truck through 4 previous smog tests with no comment or notation. Regardless of my protest, they failed the smog test. They were no longer pleasant or friendly. They completed the test and passed the truck once I removed the offending part. Not great customer service. Poor seating and waiting area. I used to take all my personal and business trucks to 101 Express Smog and this place was great. That was when the owner used to be the guy on site doing the smog. Then all of the sudden on my last smog I went in there only to find two white guys that looking like a couple hair balls doing my smog. I didn't know I had a check engine light on. Even though I had a check engine light on he did the smog and failed me because of the light on. I was standing there the whole time watching. The guy just should of told me that he wouldn't pass me because the light, I would of left and got it taken care of and came back for my smog. Instead he waisted my time and my money. I will never go back to this rip off again. No disrespect to the owner, but try not to hire low lifes any more that are tring to rip people off. read more

I received a coupon for this place in the mail. Since I needed a smog this year that couldn't be done by the dealership, I tried this place. I called and made an appointment. Asked what my fees were with the pass cert and was given a quote & a convenient time. I was told the appointment would take about 15 mins. I arrived 5 mins early, was very promptly greeted & given my paperwork. I was instructed to feel free to use their waiting room and they would get me when I was complete. All the bays were full & more cars kept pulling in. I thought I'd be there a while. Much to my surprise, I was out of there in about 12 mins. The fees were as quoted & pass cert was sent to the DMV for me. All around, I would say go here! Plus, they were cheaper than some of the other not so great guys. read more

I made an appointment to get my car smog checked (two days later since they were so busy). The morning I showed they told me they couldn't take me due to their machines being down. (I understand this sometimes happens). However, they didn't cared to call me to notify me not to come. Rather they didn't care to write down my phone number and just waited until I showed up at 9am. They told me they would call me round 4pm since they believed their machines will be working and I'll be able to come in and get it smog. Very nice greeting by a worker (not so much from the cranky lady next door when I parked right under the address, you know assumming it was there, at the address!) There was a nice waiting aear and it was only $39???..But I say measure twice...CUT ONCE! I failed. I have had this happen a few times before where if a warning engine light is on, they tell you it will automatically fail. They usually recomind you get diagnosed and come back...IT AUTO FAILS IS A CHECK ENGINE KIGHT IS ON!! So why get in my car, see the light, aqnd test it anyway. When I asked how muc the test was after I get itn fixed...SAME PRICE!!! SO the pricce would be nice if honestly and competency were the ethic. I certainly won't go pay another $50 aftre diagnoised. Drove up, guy quickly came out and quoted me $130. Ouch, I said I expected $80-85 at most and proceeded to my car. He said "OK, we can do it for $85". Um, that is not how I run my business. First you try to really stick it to her and if that doesn't work give her a fair price. I don't think so. I went to 101 because the shop where I usually go had a problem with their machine that morning. So I went back to usual shop and it was $65.00 out the door. I needed a smog test on my farm truck, a 86 ford ranger. I had a coupon for $31.70 but it said that older cars might cost more so I called first. The man said it was $89 for the truck. I asked why so much? He said "that is what it is" and when I asked if it is harder to do or something? He said "that is what it is" again. I was polite, I just wanted to know as our Toyota van was more difficult to do so it made sense that it cost more. He was rude and hung up without saying god-bye. I tossed the coupon in the trash. Heard my wife say this place was a good deal so I surprised her and took her car in without her knowing and got charged $79 because I didn't know she had a coupon. A few hours later she called in to explain my mistake and good deed and he refused the coupon and then he went OFF on my wife on the phone. He said he simply didn't care, coupon first or no deal. They have a nice waiting room and clean bathrooms but the 'one man show' was curt, borderline surly and moving the cars in and out I felt like he over accelerated and had to brake hard to park them. I understand working quickly but this seemed like blatant disregard for customers property. Please do not use this SMOG test site. I'm not impressed, the guyi dealt with didn't even let me speak, before I was told that unless I had an appt. my smog would've been over a $100 and if it was older then a '95 no matter what "substantially more". my coupon for $20 off was useless and he pretty much dismissed me before I could even bother to try and make an appt for when they weren't busy. They don't know what they are doing. Had appointments the next day for two of our company cars to get the smog test done. Got a quote $53 each. Sent my driver over they charged him $73 . So I paid $40 to much. After complaining they gave me a discount of the next service with $27 which made no sense at all. It didn't stop here. The lady who works there put the right Vin number on the invoice but a totally different one on the smog certificate. That's why we could not get a new registration. After complaining again the lady told me the only way to fix it would be to smog the vehicle again.of course free of charge. Oh well ,sent my driver over again finally received the smog certificate.Never ever will we back again . read more

Would rate this higher based on past experiences here, but the new guy there is a COMPLETE ass! About 6 feet tall wearing a hat and sunglasses. Not only was he rude on the phone, but when I was there he was cussing up a storm and called my car a F'ing piece of sht. To be fair the car was flooded at no fault of theirs. I said it needed to sit for 7 or 8 minutes before it will start again. The rude guy said, "I don't have 7 or 8 minutes to wait for this F'n piece of sht". I also heard him talking smack about the car that was 2 before mine when I first arrived. Other than him, the service is fast and efficient. I was charged $114 for my 93 Honda. I understand that prices have gone up all over the state but there are cheaper options elsewhere I later found out. What really bothered me is I was told by the guy who smogged my car that the retest would be free. Don't trust word-of-mouth here. The same guy told me he never would have said that and instead charged me $40 for a retest. This place is the most expensive smog site I have ever been to. The gentleman was very nice, and gave me the $20 off for the smog, and it totaled $42. Very easy to work with, very fast service, and sent an electronic copy to the DMV and a physical one as well. I called the day before to set an appointment for when they opened at 8:00 AM. I was told by the guy I spoke with, to show up at 8:15 as it took that long for their equipment to warm up in the morning. I show up at 8:15 on the dot, to find another car pulled in, so I would have to wait. When I asked the guy, he says "What am I supposed to do, turn this guy away?" He then turns his back to me and says he doesn't want to argue about it....Well I'll tell ya...what you need to do is set the appointment for 8:00, if that's the time you start accepting vehicles. Their customer service sucks, and they don't seem to get the concept of an appointment. One other thing. Their coupon is for $31.70, but not for trucks or vans. I've been bringing our vehicles here for years after discovering them. They are always done with the vehicle before you know it. They go over everything thoroughly with you. I always bring a coupon from Valpak, but you can also get one straight from their website. They want your business and will not rip you off. I called to make an appointment yesterday, and they had a opening avail in 1 hour. I was warmly greeted as soon as I parked. I was told I could hang out in the waiting room, which by the way was very clean and stocked with reading mags. Bathroom was spotless and fully stocked. I handed over my coupon for $31.00 and they said give us 10 to 15 minutes. I pulled in the parking lot at 11:00 and was pulling out at 11:10, with a pass. ( my 2005 Chevy truck has never failed) I'll be going back and will pass on this find to all my friends. When you review the bad reviews, it is pretty obvious all these folks failed their test. Which I totally understand the anger. My wife's car failed a few years ago and it sucks to have to pay $50.00 + to hear "sorry, your car failed smog"...but you need to know that is not the smog test only problem. It is your car. I come here every time I need a smog so I've done business with them for 5+ years, I always grab the coupon form the Valpaks that I get in the mail. (Make sure you have that so you can save a lot of money) I had one problem the very first time I went here, so I think I caught the guy on a bad day but it did not stop me from coming in again, and again. You really can't beat their price, it's the best in town! So if you are complaining about service, go ahead and pay more somewhere else! Give these guys a break, they make the price low for you as a customer, so if they're busy and you have to wait than shame on you for not making a appointment.
