With the abundance of steakhouses in this town it's hard to decide which to pick and sometimes how to tell them apart. We're glad we decided to give this place a shot a few wks ago. Reservations were easy to make online and for a Sat night there were plenty of options as of that Wed when we booked. We opted to valet, so not sure if self parking is an option or not. Inside they had live music going on right at the bar, we were seated to the right dining room and it wasn't too loud or disruptive which was nice. Our server was friendly and attentive, my wife appreciated her insight into the gluten free options available. We also appreciate her accountability when she misstated a special of the evening, offered to correct it, and even though we declined the manager still brought out some extra shrimp on the side as a goodwill gesture. Food wise everything was fantastic. These days I tend to only opt for dry aged steaks as that's not something easy to do at home, and this place definitely delivered. I ordered the 24oz dry aged bone in ribeye and 2 of my tablemates opted for the dry aged strip steak. All of them came out perfect and simply delectable. Plenty of side options as well and the brussels and jalapeno corn stood out to us. Overall, great splurge dinner and well worth the money. read more

The steak came out a burnt hockey puck. Like brown marks, burnt. I tried adding the butter from the bread on top to bring flavor to it since it was SO dry. The butter soaked right in, but still insanely burnt dry. I couldn't eat it, I gave up. I told the waitress it was so burnt I couldn't eat it. She said that's well done steak. I knew the cooks burnt it to make a point about ordering a steak well done because I've had well done steak before during my last pregnancy and it was not burnt and still flavorful. I met up with a coworker for dinner early one Wednesday evening and was pleasantly surprised with the restaurant choice. Steak 101 had a great ambiance. You should not sleep on that jalapeño popover bread service. Hailey, our server, was witty and knowledgeable about the menu. We enjoyed having her take care of us. We tried the calamari and then I ordered the yellowfin tuna with Mac and cheese and Brussels as a side. Everything was very good; next time I'll ask for my fish cooked a little less done but that was my poor communication. I enjoyed my mojitrita as well. Great fresh drink. holiday Grinch's in a soft tone !!! Let me start by saying my wife and I dined at this Restaurant about 30 times the last few years. It's has been our location to celebrate business achievements and special occasion. However a few months ago we had an experience with the food that was unexpected. Needless to say we gave them a break and went back again. And I must say the way we was handled was very unprofessional. We arrived 30 early and was told with an attitude from a young lady they are running behind! We can find a seat at the bar. We decided to wait near the greeting station. A short time later the other co- worker asked have we been helped and told us we will be seated shortly.... Her co- worker didn't like this and had us waiting longer .. Smh still I'm biting my tongue patiently cause I'm a regular to this establishment. 20 minutes after our booked reservation for a booth, we were told we can finally be seated. We proceeded to head to the dining area downstairs. She made a short right turn. Which I thought she was headed to the chef's kitchen for a table VIP style. It was a small little nook for tables. Everybody sitting back there was eating look very unhappy. I said no thank you you decide to wait patiently for a booth in our car. Shortly later the reservation came across my phone as canceled..... Expensive restaurant in a strip mall but was across the street from our hotel. Inside the restaurant one would not have known one was in a strip center. I walked thru the bar and it smelled fishy, so I was questioning if this was a good choice...but just as the restaurant was not a judge of book by its cover...don't judge the restaurant by the bar scene. Ok so let me tell you about 101...it's like attached to a strip mall...Don't be fooled. When you step in, the ambiance screams upscale relaxed cigar bar vibes. Our service was impeccable and everything was explained with patience and care. Now the food...The food was amazing! The only qualm I can say I had was that I was served the first lobster tail that was over cooked, they quickly whisked it away and brought me another one that was perfect, hence the 4 stars. Came for a team dinner for 11 and very much enjoyed the experience. We reserved a private room with a guaranteed spend of $1,500 which we easily met as we ordered numerous appetizers, mains, sides and wine. All were excellent and well prepared. We were promptly seated and given the wine list which, while large, was not as extensive as was suggested on the phone. We ordered several California Cabs, Zin and Malbec. The favorite appeared to be The Prisoner Zin which we reordered several times. The appetizers we large enough that we were able to split about 8 of them amongst the 11 of us. The obvious favorite was the fried calamari although we also enjoyed the carpaccio. I went with the 160z KC 40-day dry aged with bone marrow butter which was excellent and prepared to a perfect medium rare. I enjoyed all the sides except the mashed potatoes which were a bit lumpy and could have used more cream. The creamed spinach was exceptional. Our server Hayley was fantastic, knowledgeable about the menus and very engaging. Only issue was the kitchen forgot to send one of the entrees with the rest and it did not show up until we were all nearly finished. read more

For appetizers we ordered the crispy calamari and shrimp & the crab cake. The appetizers were very good, highly recommend. Entree we ordered the pork chop which came Mac n cheese & braised greens which was the servers recommendation. The entrees took a very very long time to come out and the food was honestly not good. The greens were in some kind of tomato base, the Mac n cheese was bland and the pork chop was very average. If I were to go back I would definitely try the steak or sit at the bar and just order apps/drinks. We started with the crabcakes, and my husband is from Baltimore... So he knows from a real crabcake... He gave it his seal of approval. I've been here twice now while on the road for business. They are across the street from my preferred hotel. I went there the first time under-dressed and after some grubby work. I wasn't a disaster but upon entering the lobby I knew I was going to stick out like a sore thumb. I apologized and asked if they could find a spot for me out of the way. They were quite welcoming (it was just as they had opened so that was helpful I'm sure). This place is beautiful with rich, warm woodwork, tall and ornate ceilings, cozy seating, and the level of service that you would hope to expect in a fine dining establishment. Had I done some more research, I would've been better prepared before popping in on a whim. They have a unique table bread which is a popover. Very airy, light, and delightful. I enjoyed mine without any butter or oil. I haven't had anything like that before and was happy for the new experience. I went with the special the first visit which was a bone in tenderloin paired with a lobster tail. Both were delicious and cooked perfectly. I also went with a salad and dessert and thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. On my second visit, I was with colleagues and went with a lighter meal which was a mustard encrusted tuna dish that was amazing. The food was so delicious! The steaks are cooks at the most perfect medium-rare (or however you like your steak), the appetizers were fantastic: the 6 Spice Eggrolls were a 10/10 (but beware of the yellow sauce--the horseradish!!) and the daily special: Peach & prosciutto was a weird combination but surprisingly very good! We also got the sides: Grilled Asparagus (perfectly al dente), mashed potatoes (your average potato) and the Jalapeno Corn Brule With Bacon (SO GOOD!!! ABSOLUTELY 10/10!! MUST GET! Also tastes GREAT with steak!) I got the lobster tail and it was so expensive compared to how it tasted! The lobster was a bit of a disappointment, but it IS a steak house.. On the other note, the service was excellent! They came around to make sure we were okay, stayed on top of our water, and was very happy to be there. The ambiance was fantastic also! I mean, this is my people! I love the bar and the atmosphere. It's our go-to spot in our neighborhood. The service is always top notch! Wait staff is friendly and I never feel rushed. Food is good. I've never had a bad meal here. I would love more variety since I'm there a good bit and don't eat red meat (shocking, I know). I love their happy hour menu a lot. I celebrated my birthday here for the first time, and it exceeded all expectations. The food was outstanding. We started with the calamari appetizer, which we loved, especially because we enjoy spicy flavors--the dipping sauce was a hit. I shared the steak, and it was cooked to perfection: charred on the outside and rare on the inside, just how I like it. The brûlée corn was absolutely incredible--so delicious. Since I was staying at Hotel Indigo, which is located right across the street we decided to walk over and try this place out. I'm so glad we did! Our server CHRIS was awesome! We had in mind that we wanted small plate appetizers because it was late in the evening and the hotel didn't have refrigerators in the rooms so we knew we had to only order what we could hold right then and there. (I love left overs sometimes they are more tastier the next day) we slowly ordered from the appetizers list because we didn't know how large or small each dish would be. Walking through the door we knew calamari was a must have, we've been trying calamari all over Atlanta, near the end of the year we'll know our favorite spots for this wonderful dish, we order it every place we dine that has it on their menu. CHRIS was very knowledgeable of the menu items as well as the specials, his eyes lit up when he told us about the soup of the day which was a Smoked Salmon Chowder, I knew then we had to put it on our list to try. For our first round we ordered the Broiled Oysters made with spinach and roasted garlic, they were delicious and of course the Calamari, we enjoyed it also. Next in line for us was the Smoked Salmon Chowder that CHRIS told us about. Yuuummmyyy, is all I can say about that. The decor is fabulous. I love the seating. This is a well thought of romantic restaurant with impeccable service. I love how they utilize teamwork to make sure we have exactly what we need in a timely manor. I tried the Trashley Cocktail and my dinner companion ordered Duvel beer. CLAY, the manager brought our drinks over and told us the story of the owners daughter or wife, (I can't remember) whose name is Ashley and after two of these, name would change to Trashley so I made sure I ordered only one. The Trashley Cocktail was very good. The food here is deliciously prepared. I love the set up of this restaurant. I can't wait to come back and try more selections. I loved how everyone made sure our dining experience was superb. This is what is going to make me return here again and again. This go round I asked for a keto friendly cocktail and the female bartender was fantastic in offering some options. He started w/ the raw oysters ($3/each); not my thing so I can only give you his take, "they're good." lol. I ordered the crab cake and it was fantastic! It didn't have any filler that I could detect and was seared but felt a little cool in the middle. The accompanying salad was good also. We shared the 24 oz. bone-in ribeye, creamed spinach, & braised collard greens. The steak was good. I asked for the temperature to be medium plus but it was more medium. The flavor was delicious and of course as it sat it continued to warm. The spinach was good and rich. The braised collards were excellent. I couldn't tell if that was tomato sauce or something that gave it the red color but it didn't taste tomato-y. Great customer service. The manager checked on us a few times also. We'll be back. Been here a few times, twice for private events and twice for a regular meal. Their weekend brunch is good, the buffet is traditional buffet, but everything is still cooked very nicely. I was searching for a venue for an anniversary dinner and noted this place. It sounded good and we'd never been there before, so I made a reservation at least 2 weeks in advance. I'm not sure what a 'safe' window is for reserving (i.e., 1 day, 1 week, etc.). The restaurant is located about a mile inside I-285. It is in small plaza with other businesses and (I think) apartments or condos above. Parking is in a garage underneath the building. We arrived around 6 p.m. on a Saturday. This was still in the re-opening period, so tables were spaced apart, staff wore masks, etc. We were seated promptly and our server arrived quickly. Overall, the service was leisurely; I don't mean that in a bad way - it seemed like they wanted you to take time to enjoy a meal. I doubt people who come here are in a hurry. We were there almost 90 minutes. The overall vibe was dim lights, high-backed upholstered booths, and high ceilings; a classy place. The main entrees did not include sides, so those were separate. We both went with steaks, and were not disappointed. We also split a salad. The steaks were quite good - tender and flavorful. The sides were good also. We split a slice of cake for dessert. The meal was expensive by my standards, but that was expected. I would definitely consider it again for a special occasion dinner. read more

When we moved from Buckhead to Smyrna my biggest thing was not being able to get Chops (A Steakhouse) on Demand. It was our anniversary today and thanks to Co Vid 19 we gotta celebrate it differently plus we have a 6 month old. Food was great even though my steak wasn't well done ( my wife like it that way not me ) it still tastes a amazing. EVERYTHING WAS ABSOLUTELY 10 outta 5 stars. They forgot the bottle of wine and Steve went the extra mile and brought it to my home. Now every experience is different this is my experience and I am big on Experiences. This is really a 2.5 from me but I'll round up because our server, Clay, did a great job. We hadn't been but had heard good things. All said, it wasn't a bad experience exactly, and it wasn't great- kind of a limbo situation between a good server and tasty oysters, pop overs that pale in comparison to the gold standard of the Cafe at Neiman Marcus (and even the almost as good ones at King + Duke)...my undercooked, then over charred and almost too up cooked filet, the simple and fine Caesar and generously sized baked potato, to my discomfort that the wine usually finishing the mushrooms would really be left off...to the just shy of obsequious GM trying to rally from the steak disappointment. Like I said, a mixed bag of star points and hits and misses. This spot was really great! I took my best here for her birthday and it was just what we were looking for. We went on a Monday evening and were sat immediately. The restaurant was cute and quaint. Our waitress was very pleasant and catered to our asks. I didn't enjoy the first few wines I ordered but she was kind enough to bring me others to try until I found the right one. 101 steak is one of the most fabulous steak houses in Atlanta. We had a house flood and have eaten here probably 100 times or more. We've had pretty much everything on the menu. I cannot tell you we have ever had not one single bad meal. Everything has been fabulous. I don't even like pork chops, I occasionally fix them there is nobody that makes a better pork chop in Atlanta, the brussels sprouts are out of this world.
