Surprisingly disappointed! I was so excited to finally make it here and invited my family visiting from out of state. It started off great with the warm welcome and service so I was that much more excited. Our server was nice and friendly and patient as some of us were indecisive about what to order, it all looked and sounded good. The drinks came out first and they were actually pretty good. Then the appetizer, which was the crab dip. It was soupy and came with only a few pieces of bread, not much crab. Then the entrees, gumbo, stuffed salmon, Mardi grass pasta, catfish, dirty rice and oyster trio. All were too salty. I love salt so if im saying it was too salty it's really bad. Djuan's New Orleans Bistro - Charming Vibe with Inconsistencies I've visited Djuan's New Orleans Bistro twice now once on a Wednesday and again the following week on a Thursday and overall, my experience has been a mix of great potential with a few noticeable misses. Let's start with the atmosphere. Upon first walk-in, the space is absolutely adorable. The Mardi Gras mask wine holder is a beautiful focal point, though I do think it would flow better slightly off to the side to open up the space more. The layout could also benefit from a proper host stand instead of a table at the front. That said, I loved sitting in the booth it gives you a great view overlooking the restaurant, and the outdoor area has a really nice vibe as well. On my Wednesday visit, I took advantage of their specials and ordered a $10 Hurricane, which was perfectly balanced between flavor and alcohol honestly, one was enough to get me right. I also ordered a French 75, but it came out warm, which was disappointing. I had to request ice just to enjoy it properly. For food, we ordered crab fries, catfish bites, and two dozen oysters. The oysters were very good, and the bread they came with was amazing though I did find it a bit petty to be charged $2 for just four small extra pieces. One thing I noticed between visits is inconsistency in oyster size. On Wednesday, they were larger, while on Thursday they were noticeably smaller. Unfortunately, during my second visit, on our last order of oysters, I found a large, thick hair on one of them. That completely ruined the experience for me and is something that should never happen, especially with seafood. The crab fries were nothing to rave about pretty much standard frozen fries with minimal seasoning, topped with crab meat. I honestly think they'd be better off offering fried crab claws instead. The catfish bites came out hot and fresh but could've used more seasoning to really stand out. Another major factor during my visit was that the air conditioning was out, which made the experience uncomfortable especially when you're dining and drinking alcohol. That combination just doesn't work well. Despite the inconsistencies, I will say management was very kind and receptive when I shared my concerns. They suggested I return on a less busy day for a better experience, which I appreciated. 2nd time here and my meal was as good as the first time. We came for lunch and the place was empty except for a few patrons. We got seated right away and the waiter came right over. He offered some menu recommendations and we went with a few of them. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have the crab beignets on the day I went.. but I did get the Mardi gras pasta and my bestie got the crawfish fettuccine and the crab cake egg rolls. Was very disappointed in the pasta, no flavor, barely any protein that I was told was in it was shrimp, crawfish tails, and lobster. I never tasted any lobster very few crawfish tails and the shrimp that you see on top is all there was for $34. I feel like there should be more flavor, maybe a piece of bread with it. Very very sad. I did try the oysters that were on special. Those tasted fine. Service was fine. a lot of conversation about dirty dishes, but being left out the night before and not being washed that you could hear from the bartender's upfront. I have an update to my review. Since they have now moved to West Village. I went in there first day open in West Village and it was packed. I finally was able to get a seat a the bar. It took them awhile for them to clean off the area from the people before me. I ordered the oysters and shrimp and catfish patter. The oysters were good the platter was just okay. No seasoning or flavor. I hope they are able to get more organized from a service perspective. My mother and I visited for the first time for lunch 3/26/26. We truly enjoyed everything about our dinning experience. The service is top tier, even the manager makes her rounds and greets guests and ensures the patrons were enjoying themselves. Our server was excellent, but I also want to add that everyone working there seemed to be very attentive even if they weren't your assigned server and I was impressed by that! Now on to the food.... Delicious! We literally truly enjoyed every tapa we tried. If you order anything with crab you get really crab meat and plenty of it. The sauce on those crunch crab fries was perfection... I was in the area and looking for someplace to grab a quick bite. D'juan's had good yelp reviews in the food pictures looked delicious, so it was a no-brainer to try. The restaurant is in a strip mall that is kind of tucked away. It's not easy to see from the street. The first thing I noticed when I pulled into the parking lot is that most of the storefront seem to be closed. A gentleman who walked in directly before me was asking the hostess about how long they would be in this location. I did not hear the full answer, but it seems that maybe the strip mall is closing down in the businesses there maybe all relocating. I'm not sure if this is true, so don't quote me on it. However, it was very curious that at 5 PM on a Thursday, everything else would already be closed, including other restaurants. Because I was ordering to go, I ordered at the bar. The waitress had some trouble with the tablet and card reader, so it took a while to check out, but she was pleasant throughout the transaction. Because I was paying close attention, I was able to catch that she originally rung me up for a different platter than I'd ordered. I'm glad I caught that ahead of time so that I wasn't disappointed when my food came. Around the bar top, they have small signs noting that there is an automatic 20% gratuity on all orders. I'm glad I saw that ahead of time so that I was not surprised by the up charge. I visited the restroom while I waited for my food to come out. There are separate single use restrooms for men and women. It was clean enough and well stocked. My food came out pretty quickly, and I went to my car to take a few bites before starting my hour long drive home. Honestly, the food was just okay. I wouldn't drive 50 to 60 minutes just to eat here, but I would try it again if I was with someone who wanted to come here. I just would not order the same thing. If I got the catfish again, I would try it grilled. I had a fried catfish platter and a side of crawfish mac & cheese. All of it was edible, but none of it was excellent. Overall, the portion sizes are a bit smaller than the prices would suggest. When I ordered the crawfish mac & cheese, the waitress asked me if I wanted the side or the entrée. The crab eggrolls were great ythe poboy was disappointing. It had a lot of smaller sized shrimp, fried very hard. For the price, I would have rather had less shrimp if they were larger. First of all, let me lead with the flavors are developed. For the price point, the place needs work to earn a 4 star rating. I sat at the bar for a one person lunch. Fair warning this is an extensive review, because I want to explain the issues I had as constructive criticism so that this place can truly shine to its potential. My server was cordial, but very quiet/meek and looked like he really didn't want to be at work. He answered my questions, checked in on me, and honored an expired voucher for its paid value. I think in order for the establishment to operate they want to, they need a larger location. The bar is somewhat haphazardly organized; it just doesn't have the look of a fully stocked bar at a nicer restaurant. Some spirits they have almost a dozen bottles of, others only one, and in the cubby holes I noticed that they have glasses and cans of pineapple juice that look out of place. The bright purple walls and golden oak stained moulding are a clearly a nod to Mardi Gras. There are definitely some areas that aren't pristine, but for the most part it's acceptable. They could also benefit from a professional organizer's advice since the interior is so small. Now, about the food, as stated the items that I had were flavorful, but the execution just doesn't fit the bill. The first bite into my catfish Po Boy, the bottom half of the sandwich completely ruptured, probably because the loaf was sliced very unevenly (top was about 2/3, bottom was about 1/3), but it could also be because the bread was a day or so old, which is to be expected if you're sourcing true Leidenheimer loaves from Louisiana. Ultimately the bread was not light and fluffy like freshly baked. It was a little on the tough & chewy side, although the exterior was toasted and lightly crispy. The tomatoes were bright red, however, it's summertime, so if you're dining here in the colder seasons, it might be a different story. The fried catfish filet had a nice crunch to it, but it was so delicate that it kept falling to pieces with every bite, separating the breading from the fish; perhaps catfish nuggets would be a better option. I know a Po Boy isn't supposed to be a non-messy sandwich, yet I don't want to be reassembling the thing with every bite. Also, I had to specifically ask for remoulade, which in my mind is an essential on a seafood Po Boy. This one only came with what appeared to be cocktail sauce & mayonnaise. Lastly, the crawfish Mac n' cheese: there was a lot of flavor going on (a little spice, minced thyme, a cheese blend of some sort), *very creamy*, but the sauce was broken in some areas, and I didn't have one crawfish tail in the whole dish. If I'm paying $11 for a rather small-medium sized pan of it, at least make sure that I get a decent amount of the first ingredient in its title. Otherwise, call it what it is, a very good, creamy macaroni, and price it accordingly. All in all, I can't say that I'll be back, considering the length of time it took to get my food, the less than enthusiastic demeanor of the staff, the slight smell of stale, spilled alcohol, the awkward layout, the noticeable storage issues making the ambiance feel like parts of the restaurant are designed to be an overflow closet, and from what I heard while eavesdropping it's really more of a nighttime dining club (which may explain why the staff couldn't muster up a chipper attitude for lunch service.) Either way, my party of 2 was placed on the wait list and quoted a 1.5 hour wait which was about right. Please keep in mind that inside of the space is room for tables, the bar and staff only so be prepared to wait outside. I overheard the manager/owner recommending people come in during lunch hours to escape the crowd. Service: Once we were seated, we were helped pretty quickly. There was always enough staff around to get what we needed even if it wasn't our specific server, so that was nice! Drinks: we both ordered the $7 hurricane. I wasn't a fan of the cherry flavor, because that's just not my preference, but I will say it snuck up on the both of us lol. I would definitely sacrifice my taste buds for it again. They also had this cute drink flight with 4 drinks that we saw on the next table that i'd definitely be interested in trying now. Food: We shared catfish nuggets which came out piping hot and crispy on the outside & tender on the inside. Could have used a touch more seasoning in the breading but the Dijon mustard type sauce they bring out with it with some hot sauce made up for it. It came with about 5-6 large catfish nuggets for us to share. Of course we had to get what we came for, the $1.75 chargrilled oysters. We both got a dozen and ate them with crackers. The sauce was really good, almost reminded me of alfredo. For the price, I'd say the size of the oysters were fair and I could tell they were made fresh. I'd definitely come back for this special again and am curious to try some of the other things on their menu! First off, the food is way overpriced for what you get, and we were surprised to see a 20% gratuity automatically added without any mention. That would've been fine if the service and food matched the price point--but they didn't. The crawfish mac and cheese was disappointing--barely warm, and lacked seasoning. The "hot" New Orleans wings were dry rub (not disclosed) and completely flavorless. The seafood pasta didn't fare much better--bland and forgettable. I was excited about the margarita flight, but what we got were essentially liquor shots with a splash of purée. I like to taste my margaritas, not feel like I'm taking straight shots. Yuck. On the upside, my husband did enjoy his turkey wings, and the stuffed shrimp was tasty. But seating at the bar was tight and uncomfortable--we were constantly asked to scoot up to let people pass, but my knees were already hitting the bricks. There was nowhere else to go. Servers were friendly enough, but we had to flag them down just to get basic things. All in all, not worth the hype or the price. We won't be rushing back. read more

I tried to love it, drinks are overpriced starting at 14.00 for Tito's and tonic with tons of ice. Auto gratuity at 20%, and this particular night the food wait was 35+ minutes. The people on the kitchen looked lost at what they were doing. Once we got our food it was overwhelmingly salty. We sent it back and ultimately ended up paying $40+ for two drinks. I don't mind paying for great places but this was not worth the price. I would not go back again after this experience. The two stars are for the welcome by the GM who was really helpful in getting me and my guest seated at the bar. read more

First I have to start off by saying, yes the food was pretty good. The drinks were okay too. I got a frozen pina colada and my husband got the blue bayou I believe. Now despite the food being good the prices are outrageous plus there's a 20% gratuity for dining in. The prices also do not match the online prices. I got the shrimp platter with fries and my husband got the Big C's bowl. My shrimp platter was $21 and only came with 6 pieces of shrimp! That is ridiculous.. if you're gonna price an item that high at least match the portion sizes to the price. 6 pieces of fries shrimp and fries isn't worth $21. My husband's bowl was $19.99, it was reasonably sized. There were 3 pieces of shrimp on top of the bowl and had a little cup of butter sauce. His food price compared to the potion size was reasonable. Other than that the service was good, our waitress was nice and helpful. read more

Honest review: I give D'Juan's 4 stars for the following reasons. The food was good....fried fish and shrimp had great flavor and tasted fresh. The Caesar salad was fresh and the portion was large, but it felt overpriced and very basic. I would have preferred a smaller portion at a better price. I also tried the crawfish mac and cheese. It wasn't my personal preference because it was a bit too creamy for me, but the flavor was good and I think most people would enjoy it. Some items on the menu weren't available, and the menu was a bit different from what I saw online, which was disappointing. On a positive note, restaurant was clean the staff was attentive and efficient, which was a big plus. One of the owners also made rounds checking on customers, which I appreciated. I would definitely go back for the fish. read more

I was really excited to visit Djuan's new location, especially since I used to enjoy the food when they were in the smaller space. Unfortunately, this visit did not live up to my expectations. The food tasted very different from what I remember at the smaller location. The Mardi Gras pasta didn't have flavor, the oysters only came with one option instead of the multiple choices they used to offer, and the wings were much smaller than before. The Bayou bowls also tasted different, almost like a completely different style of cooking. Because the food was not the same as I remembered, I decided not to order the bread pudding, which used to be one of my favorites. I was worried it wouldn't taste the same either. It seems like since moving into the larger space, some of the recipes or ingredients may have changed, and unfortunately the quality didn't match what made the original location so good. I really hope they can bring back the flavors that made people love the first location. read more

Tried D'juans for a girls night and must say it didn't live up to the hype for our group. We did make a reservation ahead of time and once our group arrived we were sat within 10 min. Pros: the chargrilled oysters were really good. I've heard that they have a good oyster deal on Wednesdays. They were seasoned really well and hot upon arrival to the table! The margarita flights were very good as well and they don't skimp on the alcohol. You could easily drink a flight and have a great night with a buzz. The crab cake appetizer was really good but expensive for the size. Our server (Paris) was great! She made every effort to ensure our group was as satisfied as can be even with the busy time of day, Cons: One member of our party ordered the crab egg rolls and they were... SMALL. For $20 we were expecting a lot more, they weren't even shareable. Definitely a personal portion. The bayou bowl wasn't all that great. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good, I personally don't think it's worth the price - you're paying for the amount of seafood included but it was very basic (all things considered). I ended up adding hot sauce which made it more enjoyable but I don't love that I had to add things in order to make it "better". Two members of our party ordered the mac and cheese (one with crawfish and one plain) both were dry and unseasoned. There was absolutely no cheese pull and it tasted as if they literally mixed cheese and noodles together and said here you go. Didn't seem like there was much effort put into it. We also ordered the lamb chops at medium temp - they came out very well done and the dirty rice accompaniment was dry as well. The space is small. You work with what you have but they do have tables set up somewhat on top of each other. Multiple times throughout the evening servers had to ask us to scoot in chairs or adjust so that they could get by. Not the most comfortable set up at all. As a whole, our group sent back the Mac and cheese, the crawfish mac and cheese, and the lamb chops. When trying to order something else instead, because of the time of night (8PM) the kitchen was now starting to run out of popular or preferred items. Unfortunate but some members of our party just ended up not reordering anything else. I will say Paris tried her best to rectify the situation but at that point we weren't willing to try anything else just to potentially be disappointed again. That being said, the price for everything was a little outrageous... 3 out of the 4 of us ordered a margarita flight and even with the comps from being unsatisfied and a complimentary order of beignets (thank you to our server Paris) each of us still spent a minimum of $85 each (with auto gratuity). I wanted to love and support this business but I can't say I'll be returning. Just a note, I don't have all food items pictured that were ordered. I encourage you to try for yourself, everyone's taste buds are different but for me it's a no. Giving it 3 stars off of the service, the drinks, and a couple of appetizers. read more

Hubby and I tried this spot for date-brunch. There was a 40-45 minute wait even with a reservation and there's not much space near the hostess so after she put your name on the list she asked you stand outside. It was a bit chilly so we just waited in the car. That's not the most ideal scenario but it's not a deal breaker. We ended up dining at the bar, and our server was very nice and personable. The food was good! My favorite was the dirty rice, it was very flavorful! The mac and cheese was pretty good and the crab cake egg rolls were ok. I probably wouldn't order them again but I would definitely order the dirty rice and try some other menu items. I would recommend this spot and I would go back. read more

I must be honest; I had high hopes for this spot while visiting Atlanta but it didn't live up to the hype for me. We went on a saturday afternoon for brunch and immediately were met by an industrial fan at the door. it was incredibly hot inside. The service was okay but nothing to write home about. One of the servers actually said to me while reviewing the menu "take your time but not too long". The ambiance inside I actually liked - small, quaint with table and bar seating and nice decor. The food itself was underwhelming especially for the prices. The gumbo was salty and had a chicken wing in it which we didnt love. The rest of the food was salted but not well seasoned and the macaroni was dripping with oil. In my opinion, there may be other spots in the area to check out first. read more

The Chargrilled Oysters were packed with flavor, and the Crawfish Étouffée was perfectly spiced and creamy. My friend's Big C's Rice Bowl was a flavor bomb with blackened shrimp and Cajun-seasoned rice--I almost wanted to steal it! The cocktails are super fun too--I loved the Madi Garita (watermelon + Red Bull float). The vibe is cozy, and you can feel the love for New Orleans in the food and decor.
