We didnt really want to drive and we didn't have a clue which wineries to go to. Laura created a custom tour for us based on a quick survey of our wine tastes. She scheduled us in according to our trip plans. She's an extremely gracious "wine host" We're both nerds in general, so we had so we had so many questions about all of the aspects of how wines are made, processed, and distributed. This was my first time planning a tour with 101 Wine Tours and the experience could not have gone smoother! Laura Jeffrey responded quickly to my emails, answered all of my questions, and provided a survey for us to fill out in order to plan the best personalized tour for me and my group. The tour is relatively affordable compared to what is in the area and they picked up/dropped off my group from our hotel which was a plus. Lunch is included which was delicious by the way! A week prior, Laura sent me a menu of the food options (wraps, sandwiches, salads), that come with chips and coleslaw and everything was prepared fresh. Stacy, our wine mom was such a great tour guide and driver! She really cared to know us each by name and the little gestures made an impact in our group. Before starting she explained how wine lists are usually listed (lightest to more bold) and also what was customary to tip pourers (only for FYI), things we would not be comfortable asking or guessing in front of the pourers. She checked up on us but also gave us space to enjoy the scenery and each others' company while also taking awesome group pics of us and listing down things to do/eat in SLO. I've now taken two tours in Paso Robles with 101 Wine Tours--the first was small and romantic with my girlfriend to a few different wineries (one of them was definitely off the beaten path and I would never have known about it and the other had spectacular views). The second tour was more of a guys' trip and we wanted to go to breweries. Laura set up tours and tastings at Firestone Walker and BarrelHouse. At each place we got to go behind the scenes into the brewing facility and learned a lot. She knew the brewer at BarrelHouse so our tour there was very personal and included tasting beer right from the barrel. I don't think we would have had this opportunity had we just walked in, so thank you to Laura for making that happen! We also stopped by a cider house that had only been open for two weeks--I don't even know how she knew about it but everyone on the tour was really impressed. From my first email message exchange with Laura to the experience of our tour with our driver Sue, everything about 101 Wine Tours was fantastic. I planned a bachelorette weekend for 12 and was looking for entertainment during the day. The bride (my sister) doesn't drink beer or wine but she likes cider.
