My sister and I stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage. The bride's family stayed in the large house and the studio unit was used to stage the hair, makeup and bride's dressing area. From Website: "The Flying Caballos Ranch was originally owned by the Gaxiolla family in the early 1900's and encompassed several hundred acres. The Gaxiolla's were Swiss immigrants who operated the ranch as a dairy farm; the original farmhouse was built in 1905 for the entire family. In 1952 the guesthouse and studio were built to accommodate one of the brothers who got married and wanted some privacy from his bachelor brother who lived in the main house. The Gaxiolla's grew their own vegetables, vineyard, and orchard. They hunted deer and fished for salmon, all on the ranch. Currently the ranch consists of approximately 100 acres with horse and cattle grazing, a year round creek and unobstructed views of Edna Valley and Islay hill". The property has been completely restored to its original glory. Its a breathtaking vacation rental & special event venu. There are three rentals available including the main ranchouse, the green guest house, and an adjacent studio apartment. We spent the afternoon here the day after Saturday wedding for a family BBQ. My late husband and I purchased an every other year timeshare, directly from another owner here, years ago. I love visiting Avila Beach and this timeshare continues to serve its purpose. Some years back it was taken over by Hilton. As far as the property itself, the ownership change hasn't had a noticeable impact. I've always viewed this place as a bit outdated. However, it's maintained very well and is very clean. A majority of the room offer views of the ocean plus there are area on the property that you can relax outside with an ocean view. It's also a short walk from here to the oceanfront restaurant/shop area and the spectacular Bob Jones Trail! On this trip, I was very pleased with the new ceiling fan over the bed. In addition, they've replaced the terrible polyester bedsheets with cotton ones. I really hated the polyester ones, so I'm extremely happy about this! It seems to me that the housecleaning staff doesn't deal with recycling but I did notice recycling containers in the club. A tip, for those that would like to come for a week, but not purchase a timeshare, is to look at the RedWeek website. Here you'll find timeshare owners renting out their week. It can be an affordable way to stay here. I've included balcony view photos from a couple different rooms I've stayed in these last years.

We passed by it and immediately wanted to get a room after seeing how cute it was! So, we called, asked about any openings they had, and they had 2 rooms available so we asked for one of them. It all went downhill from there. Upon arriving, the door was locked. I suppose this isn't that big of a deal, but you are to call the number of the inn and ask them to open it up for you. We checked in, got our key, and immediately regretted it. This place is not just dirty, disgusting, and filthy; it also flat-out smells. Not to mention the place is just...creepy. The entire b&b just smelled grotesque. I couldn't quite place it -- maybe a combination of old, used cat litter and something rotten? The place was dirty, stacked high with old magazines and newspapers, the carpet was absolutely the most disgusting carpet I have ever seen. And it doesn't stop there! The room we got was the White Lace room, and it wasn't much cleaner than the rest of the house. The curtains were dirty, the bed was creaky, the shower was moldy, everything had obviously not been cleaned in a while. The bed covers were absolutely disgusting, like genuinely felt gross, sticky, and dirty to the touch. The room was cute, but gross. The creepy part was that the room key is the same as the front door key...so, yikes. It seemed as though there were some long-term residents there, one of whom had their door open and was coughing and hacking...ew. The guy kept talking about ghosts, which we were just not into. Not to mention the service -- the guy made a comment, and asked if me and my long-term girlfriend were sisters. We just nodded and agreed, as we're not from around there and just weren't really sure what reception of us being gay/queer would be. But what a presumptuous comment to make. So, after all this, and after we put down $200 towards this awful room, we decided that no way were we staying in this bedraggled, disgusting room. We left. We were there for no more than half on hour, and I am not exaggerating. So here's the real kicker; the owner of the b&b called us, claiming that we had left "disturbing stuff" in one of their showers. Again, we were there for no longer than 30 minutes. We didn't even use the showers. It was obviously a gimmick to get us to pay even more money for "damages." We froze our card (just in case) and didn't take their calls. Out of all the nastiness that went down at this place, this was the thing that left the worst taste in my mouth. Anyways, because this place hasn't had a review in over a year, I can only imagine that whomever stayed here has been silenced with financial threats, like claims of leaving something nasty in the shower. Either that or they have been silenced in other ways. I don't know, but I would never in a million years recommend this place. Go literally anywhere else.

Also Room 10's windows is right next to the bus stop, so you hear a lot of conversations and a lot of loud cars drive by. Fortunately the hotel provides earplugs and an eye mask which was really cool. There's also a complimentary breakfast from 8-10 and I appreciated the 2 clearly marked gluten free items on the menu.

I was having a day already and this set me over the top. I was not super nice to the front desk staff, it was late, I had driven from San Diego, I was exhausted and starving and I kept showing them my reservation receipt e-mail frustrated. Then I started crying, it was embarrassing guys. The woman at the front desk was SO NICE TO ME. I thought she was going to start crying when I was crying. I was venting to her about a guy and she was so empathetic. It was a wild couple of moments. The other woman who went in the back to speak with the manager came back out and said that although they couldn't find the reservation at that moment she was going to find me a room and upgrade me for my inconvenience and put me in a suite. That was so over the top generous. Then she handed me a bottle of wine for my inconvenience. I don't drink but it was seriously the sweetest gesture. I was not inconvenience these people at the front desk, I cannot say enough nice things about how this situation was handled. The bellhop brought my luggage up to my room for me. When I walked into the room my jaw dropped. The room was unbelievable. Massive entryway, enormous room, most comfortable bed, huge balcony with a massive bed couch outside, bathroom was insane. It was seriously perfect and over the top. They had complimentary snacks and water. They had a stunning bar and restaurant in the lobby with a huge fireplace. The pool was dreamy. The hallways were huge, it was luxurious. It was one of the most luxury stays I've ever had. I cannot recommend this place enough. Walking distance to everything. Thank you for being so great!

Stayed 2 nights at Agrarian Hotel, but wanted to stay more!…read more What an absolutely gorgeous hotel, in a very cute charming town, conveniently just mins away from Pismo Beach. 2nd time in the Pismo beach area and I am pretty much done with that beach. Beautiful and expansive beach, but the small flies that seem to populate the beach just makes it bad. Was there in a cold fall time before and there were bunch of flies around the weeds on the beach. Figured maybe warm spring time must be better, but nope, wife's shirt was covered when she came back from collecting some shells on the beach. But even so, this Agrarian Hotel is so nice and the area so peaceful, we may need to come back just to be able to stay here again! This is a newer hotel and I can tell this was a work of love and pride. The exterior and especially the interior are beautiful. The room was beautifully decorated as well, modern yet classic, the attention to details was amazing... Very clean and fresh room & bathroom. Very roomy, high ceilings gave it an especially expansive feel to the room. None of that slight suffocating feel of the tiny rooms. The included breakfast used actual plates and silverware, this is not the typical Best Western property I'm used to, lol. Strolling around the property, even the exterior paths are beautifully thought out and designed, just an overall stunning property. The small town made for a nice stroll to work off a meal, with some swinging bridge and park like feel behind the row of stores not far away. And don't miss the complimentary Happy Hour! Ms. Bronwyn held down the small bar area to provide drink of your choice and snacks with it too. She was so friendly, exceptional hospitality and even served drinks in plastic cup for the pool area and helped to carry it out to wife and kid who were enjoying the small but pristine clean pool! The loungers, towels, pool area were just so well kept. I raved about this hotel experience and she mentioned the owner and manager take pride in this hotel. I agree 100%, and it shows in all things! HH was just another warm welcoming experience provided by this awesome hotel that is also very reasonably priced for the quality you are getting. The only thing would be maybe the shower pressure could be higher, but being a newer hotel, I would think they are bound by the modern fixtures restrictions, lol. What can I say? The breakfast is well accommodated with a coffee machine that makes by the cup coffees, lattes and cappuccinos. Waffles, eggs, sausage, toast, bagels, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal and juices. Great lobby area as well. We will come back as this is our new favorite hotel in AG.
