It's been almost exactly a year since my last review and 10Q is still my favorite and most visited restaurant in Evanston. I recently ordered pick up after ordering online. The katsu bowl is still the very best! Pick up was so fast and easy. Also, a new discovery for me: the fries are amazing!! If you order online and look at "extra sauces" there's a whole bunch of things to choose from. They have garlic parmesan aioli, katsu aioli, mild/spicy kangnam, ranch, honey mustard (to name a few). My new favorite sauce is the togarashi aioli, which is also known as "Japanese seven spice." It has a little spice and a lot of flavour. read more

First and last time I order from this place. I'm currently at work and had decided to place an order for lunch for two chicken bowls,a Korean BBQ and a Fire or spicy bowl. When I picked the food up and got back to work I only received one chicken bowl and a bag of fries instead. I was rather upset about this but I was still hungry so I figured I would try out what I got,only to become more upset. Plain and simple the food is bad; whatever chicken bowl that I got,I can't say what flavor it was because it certainly wasn't Korean BBQ or spicy,on top of the chicken was dry and pretty much flavorless. Everything is delicious but I would recommend sticking to pure chicken when you come here. The rice and salad in the bowl are underwhelming and distracts from the star of the show. The kangnam wings are essentially korean bbq wings that are sweet with a kick and are delicious. The tenders are panko breaded katsu style and are incredibly juicy. I was in Evanston this past weekend for a family wedding and my cousins and I had been eyeing 10Q. My sister and I arrived late Friday night so our cousin got take out for us all. The katsu chicken was legit over soft white rice, though i didn't care for the salad/slaw. Fries were crispy and the crisp on the wings - whew. It was delicious. The Seoul x Nashville wings had heat to them (but I can handle spice and didn't think it was too spicy). The Kangam wings were more tame but still delicious. Matcha soft serve was also good, subtle and not overpowering matcha flavor. Apparently some of my family went back on Saturday for more wings b/c they liked it so much. AND AGAIN on Sunday for lunch before the wedding festivities began. OH and then some of them with a later flight Monday went BACK for lunch. Can't compare to Roister at all but it's a 10Q is a still a great place to eat if you're in the area. The salad was also pretty good - but yeah, not too much to write about in terms of amazingness or suckiness. So on to mediocrity! The bread is a standard butter bun. The chicken is lightly fried without too much crunch or texture, and a little tough inside (hence why Roister is way better). That being said, it is a lot cheaper than the alternatives so the comparison isn't quite fair. But I try to describe it in terms of familiar examples to provide a more accurate description. It had been a while since my last trip to 10Q and was craving some good and spicy chicken. I've previously enjoyed their chicken sandwich and tenders and wanted to try their wings! We picked up 10 of the Kangnam Style and 10 of the Seoul x Nashville Hot chicken wings. Soooooo goooooooood. Spicy with great flavor I highly recommend them. As a Northwestern student, I come here at least once a week. The food is delicious. Really can't complain. This is one of the few places in Evanston where you get a balanced meal (protein + veggies!!) for a reasonable price (pretty sure most entrees are under $10). A nice addition to the already great restaurants in Evanston. Walking in on a Saturday night the place was not busy but there was a consistent flow of customers coming in. There's a menu board when you first enter, simple to read through and good options but not overwhelming. Walk up to the front and place your order, they had menus at the front counter too to order from. We ordered the 10 piece kangnam style wings not spicy and the Katsura chicken bowl. The wings were big and meaty with a nice crisp and flavor. Though I did feel that the drums were a bit hard to eat off the bone and I even enjoy eating meat off the bone. The 10pieces was more than enough too for 2 adults to share. The 10q katsu chicken bowl was a decent size for the price. It had a big piece of katsu chicken and some rice and veggies in it. There was also some sauce to either dip the chicken in or mix into the bowl. It almost had a poppy seed dressing flavor to it. I love chicken wings and tenders, but not from here. Actually the wings were four stars but the chicken tenders just didn't work for me. There was way to much panko breading on them and they were overcooked making the chicken tough and chewy. When there's that much breading they have to spend more time in the fryer to make it crispy which in turn overcooks whatever inside it. And they were small. Take away the breading and it's little strips of chicken. The wings did not have that breading. Those wings were the biggest I've ever seen. Hot, juicy and flavorful and I would go back for them alone. Parking in downtown Evanston can be challenging so grab whatever you can find and walk. My friends and I come here at least once a week it's laughable...10Q is just such a reliable dinner spot for good food! First of all, the food comes out almost immediately so this is a great place to go when you're in a hurry. My go to is the Fire bowl which has a delicious sauce that is perfectly spicy yet sweet. 10Q is the bomb!! Although most Evanston residents I know have already been to 10Q, it's worth repeating that is one of the best places in town in terms of both taste and value. If it's your first time here, I recommend getting one of the chicken sandwiches (especially the 10Q). Every part of the sandwich is good - the chicken is tender and juicy, the brioche bun is buttery and perfectly toasted, and the various toppings (pickled radish, togarashi mayo) are the perfect savory complement to complete the sandwich. Also, the portions are huge! For most people, one chicken sandwich is more than enough. Chicken sandwiches-aside, you really can't go wrong with anything here. The other offerings include wings, tenders, and chicken bowls and are just as good (and in the case of the chicken bowls, passably healthy). The people here just know how to do chicken right. If this is your first experience with Korean-style chicken, I highly recommend getting one of the Korean-style flavors so you can become enlightened to the beauty of those sweet, sweet marinades. The salads are also ample size portions, fresh, crisp, and of good quality. They have their own unique dips/sauces to try, if you want to add extra flavors.These with varied levels of spicy. Perfect rice! Not sticky or too grainy.Again, great size portion for it's price. Don't forget to ask for the soy sauce merinade in a small container! It adds so much flavor! I've never had anything like it, just heavenly. It's not regular soy sauce. (Do they sell their own bottles of that?) If you get fries- they are perfect too. Not hard, not too soggy or tasteless. The portion size is great, enough for 2 or 3 people. The environment there is: simple, clean, bright, modern. Pretty much college age crowd. Always busy (which is a good sign about the food), but not overcrowded, where you can't move. What's not to like about 10Q? I would say these two are pretty similar to each other; breading is on the thinner side and lots of sweet mayo sauce. For the sandwich, I thought the radish was an interesting touch. For the bowl, they give you a lot of rice and salad greens along with the cutlet, It can definitely fill you up and is more on the healthier end, but I think an additional side with the bowl would really enhance it.
