Where do I even begin?! First off, hot lobster rolls ARE EVERYTHING and this gem of a restaurant serves them extremely delicious and cheap! Pictured is a size large, more than enough to share for $22! We stumbled upon this place last week because Tuna Strikers had a 3 hour wait. It was so good that we came back this week and it exceeded our expectations! Ask for a side of hot butter to drizzle on top and it's legit heaven in your mouth. We are locals. First time here based on yelp reviews. Bartenders were awesome welcoming and friendly. My drink was a good pour. Got the prime rib special which was decent. My wife got fried clams which were not so great. Small, over breaded and had a burnt oil flavor. Will probably return but maybe need to learn what to order when here. read more

Gave it a try Saturday for the lobster rolls which were delicious! We sat outside - regret because I never got to check out the inside for future visits to watch games. Sitting right in front of parking spaces was too hot because patrons parked and didn't shut off engines while waiting for orders. HOT!!! If you sit outside be sure to ask for table closest to building. Our waitress (also bartender), Kelly, was AWESOME!! Reason for 3 stars is due to the nachos. Aweful. They were chips, cheese (not melted in between) and a few cold cubes of grilled chicken. Didn't even have jalapenos on them. Who doesn't put jalapenos on nachos!? Also had to ask for guac. Waited 20 -30 minutes in dining room for a waitress to acknowledge our presence-finally after 2 tries got a waitress to come in the dining room and she actually refused to take me and my husband's order, instead going to a couple who had just sat down. We came here after the line at Browns was too long and were glad we did! Food was fresher, healthier, quicker and cheaper. I started with the seafood chowder. Great variety of seafood loaded into a nice tasty light broth. If you like to be able to eat your chowder with a fork, you'll be disappointed but I thought it was perfect for a summer soup. I had the medium lobster roll, which comes with some delicious fries and cole slaw for $12.99. (The sign out front promotes a $6.99 Lobster Roll! This is the small, which is a hot dog sized bun with chips. People at next table got it and we're happy with it). Both the slaw and the lobster roll were very nicely dressed, very light on the mayo. (Which is brought as a side, so you can add if you like). I'm no lobster expert or snob and was very happy with the amount of lobster. Almost no filler and the toasted bun was awesome. Patti got the wedge salad with lobster - not on the menu but a special of the day. A good sized salad with nice bacon, basalmic drizzle, and six lobster claws on the side. With a decent draft selection at $3.50, we walked out for about $50. Good light fresh dinner. We sat outside, which is essentially in the parking lot but it was a beautiful day so no big deal. I stopped here with a friend after a day at the beach. This was my first time here and it will be my last. I ordered the clam roll and the clams were dried out and cold as were the fries. It was like it had been sitting around since lunch time. I told the waitress and she bright a fresh batch of clams. They were horrible. Not sure where they get their clams but they tasted awful. My friends plate looked fresh. Even her fries were a completely different color. My dinner came with a side of cole slaw not much bigger than the container the tartar sauce came in. When I got home I noticed I was charged $1.99 for cole slaw. Not sure what kind of scam that was. All these reviews sound like they were written by people who work there or their friends. Yes great place. The food was great. I've gone now 3 days this week and 2 days last week. As I'm working down the street. The seafood chowda is great. Had a small one the first day. The after that was a bowl. The lobsta rolls have 3 sizes. Small is a hot dog buns. Not sure how the rest goes. You figure that out. Really good tho. Then I had Friday fish and chips. Fish was fresh and lightly baddered. Really good. Then I had steak and cheese with p.o.m's so good. French fries are ok. Then today I had the blue burger with bacon. Really good also. Waited about 40 minutes for our food and then had to wait another 10 for the waitress to round up some forks so that we could eat our food. Pot Roast was good, cowboy steak was NOT good, fish dinners were pretty good but fries were over cooked. The service was a real disappointment. Went here because of the connection to State Street Saloon in Portsmouth, NH. Had never eaten there, but heard positive feedback. Went for dinner Monday, 8/7. Upon entering the dining area the sign said to seat yourself. It wasn't very busy at ~5 PM. Greeted warmly by our server, we were offered drinks as you would expect. Menus, including the specials, were already on the table. $6 burger Mondays (not sure if this is everyday) and we were told the menu is a bit truncated for summer (it didn't seem truncated to us) so that the food could be prepared and delivered quickly during their busier season. After receiving our drinks (soda and water), my companion ordered a cup of Seafood Chowder. We were a bit surprised at the price, but when it was delivered, we knew why (more in a bit). We ordered the medium lobster roll with tater tots (small upcharge) and cole slaw and I ordered the standard Macaroni & Cheese. I didn't want to spoil what I hoped would be a good mac and cheese with things like buffalo chicken or lobster. I wanted that mac and cheese to stand on its own. And it didn't disappoint. We received the seafood chowder first. At $6.99 for a cup, we thought it just a bit pricey, but when we saw the amount of lobster in a seafood chowder, we thought it was underpriced. Delicious! Then our simple dinners arrived. A traditional lobster roll. Small would be 2 oz of lobster, large would be 8 oz. The medium that we ordered had 4 oz of lobster ($12.99) with minimal mayo and tons of lobster. Tater tots were as crispy as we hoped and the cole slaw was not swimming in dressing as many are. The only nit, if there was one is that we could have eaten more cole slaw, it was that good! My macaroni and cheese ($7.99) had cavatappi (curled pasta with lots of ridges to hold the cheese! It reminded me of the old frozen Howard Johnson Macaroni & Cheese that seems to be no longer available. Creamy, stringy cheese, toasted bread crumbs on top, it was the best Mac and Cheese I have had in a long time. No room for dessert, but the meal was good enough that we will be going back tonight with the kids for another round before our annual Salisbury vacation comes to an end. I hope the Union Leader sends Our Gourmet here for a review soon. Or maybe my first Yelp! review above will motivate them to hire me as a reviewer. Stopped in today with family, calm clean atmosphere, waitress was friendly and attentive, food came fast, everything was delicious.

A few weeks ago my wife and our two children stopped at 12 Ocean Grill. We are greeted by the waiter Mike who seated us immediately and the tended to our every need. He recommended the chowder and said it was full of lobster clams shrimp and scallops. My wife and I each had a chowder which I have to say was out of this world. Mike did not exaggerate I have had some of the best chowder in New England this by far was the best. The lobster rolls were to die for. Upon finding it was our youngest daughter's birthday Mike brought out a piece a cake with whipped cream for her.We had a 2 1/2 Hour Drive home. Mike gave us ice waters for the ride since it was so hot going home. I highly recommend 12 Ocean Grill for your seafood when going to the New Hampshire coast. read more
