Every time we order pickup or delivery, they always, without fail, mess up the order somehow. Something is always missing, or something is always not what was ordered. Lol. The pho was amazing. Fantastic broth, ample noodles and veggies to add. Little light on protein, but for the price and the size, it's okay. We got a side of the Shaking Beef as well. Good lord. So tender, flavorful, and a good portion amount. The sauce and veggies really add great flavor, and the light sweetness definitely makes this dish a instant favorite. Strawberry slushee and the Life's a Peach tea were a perfect compliment to the food. My wife and I love pho and we'll be back - a lot. Oh. Been here plenty of times but every time is just okay. Nothing interesting or good about it. Me and my gf just went and it was empty. She had asked for extra lemon and never received it which was odd because no one was there and everyone working was just standing in the front so there was no excuse. I was interested in this place upon reading that this has the best pho in all of Long Beach -- not that this says too much, but, hey, worth a try, right? It was walkable distance from my apartment too, which is always a plus. The restaurant is much more modern than your average pho restaurant. There are no menus at the table, as you order upon entering. The food is delivered to your table within reasonable amount of time. I think a bowl of pho was $10, and they also have banh mi and some appetizers. I was really bummed to see that bun (or vermicelli) was not offered here. I ordered the pork banh mi and shared a bowl of pho (which you can choose three toppings to include). The banh mi was interesting, not bad; it was definitely on the sweeter side and the pickled veggies were not pickled enough -- perhaps targeting non-Asian crowds? The pho was not bad, but it definitely was not the best. Reading through the reviews that it uses MSG, that is not a deal-breaker for me. If you're going to get anything here, it best be the pho or milk tea/smoothie drinks with boba. I can't speak for the bahn mi but would not recommend the grilled meat dishes. They may be fine in a soup but the proteins are lackluster... oily, dry, and sad-looking. The summer rolls are interesting, being wrapped in thin rice noodles. There is no way they'll stay intact though if you want to dip them in the accompanying sauce which has some spice. I'll have to see how it is with tofu next time. I ordered the bao buns at the same time and found myself using the sauce from the summer rolls on them. They desperately needed some moisture since the meat was lacking. I wish the daikon and carrot slaw had a more pickled flavor. Anyway, enough of the negatives. I do come here regularly for their milk tea boba drinks after 3pm on weekdays because it's buy one get one free. I love their boba which has always been soft and chewy. I haven't been disappointed unlike that overpriced tea place across the way whose boba is firm... not to my liking. Mediocre food at best. Pho: salty broth ( taste like sea water), literally no flavor, just salt. 2 thin slices of your choice of meat...two thin slices! That's it. Noddles are standard in texture and flavor. Other dishes like chicken or pork with white rice or noodles are extremely oily. Assessment: your paying for salty broth and oily food. Came here because my friend and I were craving Vietnamese food. It is a pretty casual setting restaurant located on 3rd street. Because of covid, outside seating only. So you go inside to over & you must wear a masks. Once you go outside masks off just like every outdoor dining place. The cashier gives you a number for your order and they bring you your food once it's ready. We sat outside, tables were nicely social distancing spread out w/umbrellas for shade. I ordered the shaken beef w/ garlic noodles it was delicious. The diced beef was not too dry or undercooked it had just the right amount of seasoning. I'm a big fan of this place! Lots of great seating in a super convenient location. Also they are right across from a free 2 hour lot so tons of parking available. The food options are vast but I've only tried the soup and the wings. Both are solid. The veggie pho is better than most and actually vegetarian. Solid four-stars restaurant. Majority of the meals are under $10. For a quick lunch, I enjoy coming to this place, because it's a pay in advance system. Once I finish with my meal, I can rush out and not have to worry about splitting the bill or waiting for the server to arrive. The food is good, and the vegetables are fresh. The last dish I ordered was the Pork Banh Mi. The baguette is around ten-inches long. The crust wasn't too hard which I prefer, because I hate having to hurt the inner walls of my mouth. This has nothing to do with lack of authenticity (I am very aware that this is Viet food with a twist), but it has more to do with overall execution. This restaurant features a fast casual concept. You order at the counter and pay there as well and then the food is brought out to you. The process was very smooth and seamless, and the food was brought out fairly quickly. F O O D We ordered the Lemongrass Chicken with vermicelli, Garlic Butter Shrimp with vermicelli, and the Summer Rolls with shrimp. The food was very flavorful, but, again, it was a bit too pricey, and not exactly prepared properly. Lemongrass Chicken with vermicelli ($10.85) // I appreciated the fresh veggies and delicious flavor of the chicken, but that was about it. I felt that the flavor of the chicken was missing the lemongrass flavor, and it's not what you traditionally think of when you order lemongrass chicken. Again, this is a modern twist, so the lack of authenticity aside, I still found that the chicken was prepared in a way that made it a bit, for lack of better word, tough to chew. There were pickled carrot and daikon in the summer roll, which wasn't a problem entirely, but the flavor was a bit off. Also, I took huge issue with the fact that the rice paper seemed a bit tough to chew, almost as if it had not been made fresh. D R I N K S Long Bits Lychee Tea ($4.25) // This drink was super refreshing and not too sweet! Had just the right balance of lychee flavor and the tea was just right. Life's a Peach Tea ($4.25) // This was my friend's beverage, so I have no opinion, but she did compare it to the Peach Me Sweetea from Tastea, which is a really good sign! S E R V I C E What the food lacked in substance, the restaurant made up for with great service. We dined there for about five hours (we were catching up for the most part), and I really appreciated how attentive they were. They checked on us at least five times and never made us feel uncomfortable for staying much longer than just a normal lunch. They also set up a really spacious outdoor dining area, and I felt perfectly safe dining there the whole time! P A R K I N G Since this is Long Beach, you can expect to have to work to find your parking. Lucky for me, I went on a Monday afternoon and had no problem at all. I think my drink cost more. Everything tasted great. I liked the flavor of the grilled pork. The daikon was only lightly pickled. I like the bread it's served on. Pho broth was nothing special kind of bland to be honest, they included onions, cilantro, bean sprouts, and lemon. No hoisin sauce, siracha, chili oil, or fish sauce. Brisket was tough No tendon (even though on menu and no other meat/offal selections) Poor quality matcha used for the matcha milk tea. It was not a vibrant green color but almost brownish and had no matcha flavor. Broth lacked depth or flavor of the traditional pho spices. Bad service. It took forever to get our drinks (matcha milk tea and a draft beer). Even after asking several times. Like our food came out and we started eating before drinks came out. My main complaint is that they don't have the bottles of hoisin and chili sauce on the tables and usually only give you one small packet of each for your bowl of pho. This is especially an issue when I've ordered my pho to be delivered. That and the tiny, singular piece of lime. When I'm not craving pho, my go-to is the garlic noodles with garlic butter shrimp. To quench your thirst there are so many options for tea from fruit teas and milk-based teas, boba and other "toppings" or whatever you call what you put inside your tea.
