I absolutely love this place. Let me start by saying I have been a member since the first month they open. They have a wide variety of wines from medium to full bodies, lights, reds, Rose, Champaign. Great atmosphereGreat atmosphere 2 chat with someone you're trying to get to know. Is also a great atmosphere amongst friends who haven't seen each other for a while and just need to catch up on life or a great date. On Sundays they have local bands come in and play throughout the day. They also have discounted bottles of wine. The band's interchange I believe every hour or every hour and a half so you get a variety of bands. The staff is very knowledgeable of the wine and they're also very nice to the customers which is a plus. read more

Service was AMAZING. We were very indecisive about what we wanted to eat and drink but our server was able to recommend and give us amazing wines and food. We got the three cheese three meat plate with OG Krystal, Casatica di Bufala and sottocenere cheese as well as bresaola, capocollo and schiacciata picante. I highly recommend the OG Krystal which is a very unique Gouda. We had two red blends and one sparkling wine both of which are amazing. The staff is more than willing to help with picking out something that suits your liking. Service is also very quick! I will definitely come back here in the future! read more

I was very impressed with the wine selection this bar has. It's known as the hidden gem for wine and cheese boards. The waitress surprised us with the restaurants top choices for the boards since I was too overwhelmed with the options. The staff is professional, attentive and knowledgeable on the items they serve. Limited parking so be aware you may have to park on the street. Or definitely come back! Only reason it got 4 star is because It was so loud inside. I could barely hear. Very nice chilled spot. Parking is a challenge because of the construction in the area. We visited about 9:30 on a Saturday. The atmosphere is casual with a 40' bar tables and sitting areas. Small bites i.e. cheese, etc. that pairs with your wine. The service was excellent and the place I understand has been around for years but a hidden gem. I recommend a visit if you are looking to relax, have a beverage or two and enjoy your company or sit at the bar and enjoy the other guest. read more

I am not a big wine drinker but I was invited here to meet a couple of my family members to celebrate their birthday. This place was picked out by her husband and it was a surprise for her to find us there. We had a cheese and meat tray that we shared as they only carry finger type food and wine and beer only. We let her order the drinks as she is the wine expert. What ever it was that she picked out was very good. We have several rounds of it! The place is kind of eclectic with a few sofas to sit on in addition to outside and patio seating. The prices are pretty reasonable but make sure you eat before you come. It was a great experience to broaden my horizons. read more

Great wine bar on the edge of Midtwon. Comfortable. Warehouse casual. Huge selection of very affordable wines. Fabulous cheese boards. Prosciutto and other dried meats. Olives. Breads. Panini sandwiches. All presented beautifully, not just clumped together but actually decorated on the board. Really makes for a fun experience. Good atmosphere. Lot well. Sound level perfect for visiting. Love this place. read more

Since I stopped going to the dance clubs as often, I find myself in more bars. Being limited to wine and liquor why not just go to wine bars? Well here I am. This is a very nice chilled wine bar with a vast selection. It doesn't get too crowded overall, and the crowd is a bit more sophisticated. You won't find the dbags getting totally plastered. Def starting to be my kind of scene. I am looking forward to coming back. read more

That's right, I'm adding one more star! The blonde server, why does her name escape me? Anyway, she's freaking adorable, hilarious and super chatty and friendly. Additionally, she offers pretty spot-on recommendations. I'm sad to see that their service isn't always dependable, but during my most recent visits, I've observed it being better and better. Water glasses promptly filled, wine and food stuff hurried over to us . . . Although I will admit I have yet to stumble upon 13 Celsius when it's legitimately "busy." I completely just adore the lax attitude and casual (yet classy) atmosphere of 13 Celsius . . . may possibly be my favorite wine bar in Houston. read more

The nondescript exterior and spartan interior only add to the fine ambience of this cozy watering hole. 13 Celsius is a wonderful place to enjoy a glass of wine with friends or on a first (or 2nd or 3rd) date. They have an extensive wine list, delicious simple snacks that pair perfectly and play tasteful music at just the right volume (i.e. You can have a decent conversation without shouting.) It isn't inexpensive but the wines & champagnes by the glass vary widely in price to suit any (reasonable) budget. 13 Celsius is romantic and classy. A must for any aspiring oenophile in the Bayou City! read more

This is such a nice little wine bar. I love the ambiance of the place; it's cozy and moody. The waiters/bartenders are always super helpful and give great recommendations. 13 Celsius is probably the best wine bar I've been to in Houston. They offer wines from all over the globe, and the staff is friendly and insanely knowledgeable about the extensive wine menu. Without the waiter, I would've taken a good half hour just going through the menu. The waiter was able to give 5-6 recommendations with great detail based on my amateur preferences, and he was neither judgmental nor condescending about it. That's how customer service should be! We also ordered the s'mores platter they had that night, and it was so much fun (though a bit pricey $16). The platter comes with skewers, fire-in-a-cup (don't know how to describe it...), dark chocolate, graham crackers, marshmallows, nutella, peanut butter, cranberries, almonds, and apple slices. While the wine is relatively pricey (especially after a couple glasses), I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu. read more

Celsius 13 is a hip wine and cheese bar that offers a decent vegetarian sandwich and pricey charcuterie. The Good Lord knows I'm not qualified to describe wine: I can assure you that we had the red and the white kinds. I went for a friend's birthday celebration with eight friends. We had to sit outside because there wasn't space inside. The interior looked swanky: couches, dim candle lighting, and other fun, yet awkwardly sensual, decor. We ordered quite a few items. I had a caprese sandwich, which was great aside from the bread being a bit hard. The $50 combo platter had some nice cheeses too. The jury is still out on whether or not I'm wasting absurd amounts of disposable income on these kinds of restaurants that feed me small amounts and ask me to buy wine. I'm leaning toward, "Yes, Chris, eat before, and just come to hang out." I think Celsius is still ironing out some kinks: Our server told us a few times that the kitchen was backed up, an understatement on the level of, "LeBron James is a fine basketball player," or "Free solo climbing is hard." It took 40 minutes to get a sandwich after ordering, and about 30 minutes to get just bread and butter. I remember thinking, "Whoa, 30 minutes for bread and butter... the kitchen must be very, very backed up." The server actually took wine glasses early between bottles of wine because the restaurant was out, as in, they needed to wash them to serve other people. They were also out of side plates too, and brought out plates designed for coffee/espresso mugs and apologized. All in all, Celsius 13 was fun. I feel that I'd go back with friends, but eating beforehand would be prudent. read more

A great spot for a low key girls night, gathering with friends or romantic date night. We sat at the bar and was greeted with a friendly welcome. Staff were knowledgeable about the wine list and guided us to the perfect bottle. Although the menu is limited, everything was delicious and perfect accompaniment to the real star of 13 Celaius which is the wine list. The only downside is parking. Its very limited and the only reasonable option is valet. read more

I love wine bars, so this review might be biased haha but I definitely had nothing to complain about during my visit here on a Sunday night. The service: Lovely. The waitress, I wish I knew her name so I could give her credit, was charming, sweet, and quirky. And she gave an amazing wine recommendation based on what I said I liked (medium bodied reds with more predominant dark fruits than earthy). She recommended a Tempranillo from Spain. The wine: We got a bottle of the Tempranillo ($45) and it was phenomenal! Truly medium bodied, with long legs (14% alcohol), and just the right amount of tannins. A good mixture of dark fruits and minerals. I loved it The food: We ordered the large charcuterie platter (3 cheeses, 3 meats, bread, and some nuts and stuff). Cheese: Brie, oriol, manchego. The Brie was my favorite. Meats: chorizo, bresaola, and a Greek one I don't rmbr the name of. The bresaola was my favorite! Also got the s'mores for dessert and it's basically like a mini campfire set up at your table. So adorable and fun and delicious. The ambience: Dim lighting and nice comfy black couches with short wooden tables provide nice little nooks for a circle of friends or a date night. It's laid back and casual rather than upscale / pretentious. Overall: Enjoyed it a lot and hope to be back soon! Pro tip: They have a limited selection of half off wine bottles on Sunday but they run out fast so you'd have to come early to check it out. Keep calm and wine on! :) read more

Neat place. Definitely not that crowded, which means nobody making a complete scene of themselves and embarrassing Midtown once again. I liked it. I think this is a good date spot. I am not "wine guy" so my snobbery has some limits, but we found something I could drink, so I have to think that if I was not running out the door to find something else to drink like a beer, then pretty much anyone else could be happy here. read more

I've never heard of this wine bar but it is a great place to chill, hang out or happy hour with friends or groups. I'm not a huge wine drinker but the only wine that I do drink is moscato and 13 Celsius has one and only one moscato that is amazzzzing! I also usually only take a few sips but I finished the whole champagne glass of Dolce Sogno moscato d'Asti, Piemonte, Italia which is rare. My friends and I sat on a couch nearby the window which was the perfect place to catch up. The venue is very spacious, parking aplenty, not very noisy so you're not having to yell across to your neighbor when talking, and some of the food we ordered was great. We ordered marcona almonds, olives, duck rillettes, margherita panino and italiano. The manchego cheese is quite delicious and goes great with the proscuitto. All the items we ordered were tiny bites and were good. We were pretty full sharing with a group of 4 too. I definitely recommend this cozy and fabulous place! read more

Good: Cozy, Great Drinks, Nice Interior, Simple, Beautiful. Bad: The Staff didn't seem friendly and it was as if we were invisible the whole evening. However, both my friend and i will give it another try later on next week. It deserves a five star for decor, food and drinks but if the staff simply ignore you the whole night for whatever reason, it shouldn't get a five star!!! First time visiting this place. Amazing experience. Beautiful bar...nice little patio, quaint little areas to enjoy food and wine. We sat at the bar and enjoyed bottles of wine and had the best charcuterie board we have ever had before. I've read about this place for a couple of years and everything I've read has been good. So good that this place has been on my "to do" list for a while. It's 35 miles, 1 way, for me to get here and the TL;DR version is IT'S WORTH THE DRIVE! I know that Adele Corrigan, their wine director/somm, was listed by Houston Press as one of Houston's best Somm's. I've read things like that before but this time, HP deserves kudos for how right they are in their assessment! Every glass I've had, all of which were off the beaten path, were uniquely great. Let me give an example, where else can you find a pre-phylloxera vine wine by the glass (FYI it's Italian), or 17 different Sherry's by the glass, or 9 different Rose's by the glass (FYI only 1 of those is from California)? From that description alone you should be able to extrapolate their offerings of red and whites by the glass. For a wine lover this is not only incredible creativity but also game changing diversity. What about the food you ask? Well I've only had the cheese plate so I'll mention that. Texas based goat cheese that was by far my favorit, black truffle speckled cheese (yes, you read that right, it was rich and flavorful), and a deliciously delicate hard Parmesan. It came with some almonds, bread, and I think a pickled pepper relish. I probably should have paid more attention as it was great but I was so distracted by the incredible wines. For those of you that "like wine" but don't know much about it, don't be swayed to some lame place with a plonky wine by the glass list because "that's what you know". The staff here is wine educated and more than willing to discuss, educate, and let you sample until you find something that's right for you, without pretensions! You will definitely learn something in the process. read more

Love this place! I go here all the time with friends and just have the best time! There are lots of small tables that seat 4 and also some nice soft seating couches. They also have a small patio are if you want to sit outside. Great wine selection and the baked brie and s'mores are the the best! Both good to share with 2-3 people Really a great place to grab some wine with girlfriends, just wish the had some cocktails too! This is a wine only place. What a cute little spot! Parking isn't the best, but once I got past that, I entered a very chic-cozy establishment with a chill vibe and extensive wine list for a wine date with friends. I only have two issues with this place-- 1: was that I wanted to try a cider, but they would not allow me to taste a sample before committing to a 22oz pour, which I did not understand. Because of this, I wouldn't try anything outside of my "box". 2: it is a seat yourself establishment. I loathe having to lurk around tables waiting for people to get up. Our server was helpful for the most part when we were able to find her as she was definitely not the most attentive. The cheese and meat board we had was good, though the pickles that came with them were not. My friend reports that the German Chocolate Cake was decadent and delicious, though. read more

Amazing selection of wine and to die for s'mores bar! This place had been on my bucket list for so long but my boyfriend and I finally got to check it out this past Saturday night. The location is hidden in the middle of a sketchy area of downtown Houston, but once inside, it's pretty cozy and romantic for a date night. I picked a glass of white (the Basserman Jordan riesling Pfalz, Deutschland '16) and fell in love with it. It paired well with our s'mores bar, which came with 6 s'mores, apple slices, nutella, cranberries, and peanut butter. The marshmallows looked homemade and the chocolate was Lindt! I've been to other DIY s'mores places and most of them serve basic Jiffy marshmallows with Hershey's so I was genuinely impressed with the quality and presentation. My boyfriend liked his glass of red wine and it was a perfect place for a quiet night in. read more

This is a cool wine bar that has delicious food to go along with it. There is plenty of street parking and the waiters are very knowledgeable of the wine choices and can help you choose one based on typical wines you drink. We also had the baked brie, which is probably the best baked Brie I've ever had because it was actually melted and stayed like that for a while. I highly recommend getting the s'mores plate. There was enough for about 6 smores. S'mores + wine = heaven. read more

Amazing wine bar with a fantastic wine selection. A good mix of bubbles, whites, Rosé and red wines. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. They definitely knew their wines. You can get a 3 oz, 6 oz or an entire bottle. They also serve some food and charcuterie. A great place to come with friends or before dinner. This is one of the places I truly miss from my time spent in Houston. I found it by accident while out exploring after moving to my new place; and have been a loyal patron since. It's a fairly open spot, where you rarely have to worry about bumping in to somebody as you move around. The most crowded I have ever seen it is immediately after work hours where the "let me drown my stress in booze crowd" shows up for a couple of hours, the most empty I have seen it is around 9PM on random nights where it was just myself, the employees, and a couple of other people. The wine list is extensive, a lot of it is off the beaten path, so don't expect to have stuff you can find at Spec's or HEB on the list. Although there are some mainstream offerings, it is not the norm. Service has been great for the most part; the servers generally know their product and will provide you good recommendations. Although it has not always been perfect, there have been occasions when I have been ignored or given attitude by the staff, it is by no means the norm. Everybody has a bad day here and there, some of us can't help but take it out on our fellow humans, as stated, it has not been the norm, so I can live with it. I love that it is a dark place, which makes it seem more intimate; candles everywhere and music is generally spot on. If you have not been, do yourself a favor and visit. If you have, then keep supporting your local establishments!! read more

I really enjoyed 13 Celsius. It feels so much like a neighborhood bar, with good parking (considering it is in Midtown), friendly staff and quality food and beverages. I love that they only offer craft beers and they have a very good wine selection. The ambiance is a bit industrial but with a great bar and big windows, perfect for relaxing in the afternoon or at dinner. I don't know the name of what we go, but it included an assortment of 3 meats, 3 cheeses, olives, almonds, apples, a bit of preserves and bread. It was perfect for munching between 3 people, and it is all hand sliced and prepared there at the bar. We also saw a small s'mores bar to make your own s'mores, which looked fun and smelled really good! read more

Great selection of meats and cheeses. Was too full to try the Smores so i will be back. There is limited parking. The actual bar is nice and warm. Staff helpful but beware of asking them to suggest a wine without asking how much it costs. Lesson learned. Got the carrot cake to-go. It was a tad dry. Wont get it again. read more

Named among the best wine bars in the U.S. by Food & Wine Magazine (2017). 13 celsius is the optimal temperature to store and maintain the integrity of great wine. With an aim toward providing Houston with the best wine possible, 13 celsius prides itself as the only wine bar in town to actually keep its wine in a temperature-controlled cellar. Located in the heart of Midtown, this circa-1927 Mediterranean-style building creates an atmosphere reminiscent of the wine bars and Enotecas of Europe. We have an open air courtyard, luxurious seating, and nearly 40 feet of white marble bar from which one can partake from a bold and unique wine list focused on low-production, high-quality wines. We also offer choice meats and cheeses from Joseph's Cooler to accompany and enhance the total wine experience. We serve locally roasted espresso from the finest of European machines. Come at night for a glass of wine and take home a retail-priced bottle or two.

Inspired by their life experiences in small European towns, Ian Rosenberg and Michael Sammons opened 13 celsius to create a similar atmosphere in Houston and combine it with their passion for architectural preservation and fine wine.

I experienced this side of the business during the early phase of the Covid pandemic back in 2020. At the time, during lockdown, going to a wine bar or wine shop just wasn't top of mind. However, I had researched a Cabernet Franc (red wine) called Nicolas Reau Enlèvement Demandé Anjou [Vintage year: 2017]. Reau is kind of a rebel working in the Loire Valley of France who is interested in producing organic, biodynamic wines that are essentially closer to nature and processed differently--more artisanal, so to speak. I read about this wine and wanted to find a bottle locally, which wasn't an easy task as I recall. This is where Vinology comes in. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but had to have a bottle of this excellent wine. Like many people, I preferred to stay indoors during the early part of the pandemic and was kind of nervous about going out. When I called Vinology, I expressed my dilemma, and the guy on the other end of the phone came up with a great solution. He offered to deliver the bottle of wine I purchased to my address. I actually met him at the edge of the garage entrance to where I live. This was great, exceptional above and beyond service. Lastly we ordered the Guelbenzu - a red blend of tempranillo, cab sauv, syrah, and graciano. This full-bodied red was the absolute fan favorite of the table. Food options are on the light side: meat & cheese boards, bread, and small bites. We started out with the warm bread - while it's normally served with butter, there's an option to switch that out with olive oil & herbs which is what we did. We then went for the meat & cheese platter. We couldn't decide on which meats or cheeses, so we did the option of ordering all 8! This came with 4 delicious meats and 4 tasty cheeses (from Houston Dairymaids), also with crispy fava beans, olives, pickles, and bread. This was a good amount for our group of 4 to share. For our next bottle, we got a pinot noir - it was light and crisp, something I am not as used to in reds being primarily a cab sauv drinker myself. Our group really liked it and we didn't have any trouble killing the bottle. She then text our friends group and said we all had to come together and we did just that. She made reservations in advance as this place is popular thanks to recent Michelin Bib Gourmand awards as well as many other accolades. Walk ins are welcome as well. Our reservation was later in the evening so after a night of bar hopping, we ride shared in which I think is one of the best options as parking is limited here or you have to find street parking in the neighborhood. This place is literally a house turned into a restaurant. Inside is just multiple rooms with a couple of tables. It makes for a unique, intimate dining experience, perfect for a date night. In our case, we were a group of nine so we got patio seating. The patio is spacious and well kept, and if the weather cooperates, a great place to hang. One thing that really stood out to me is the amazing ambience of this place. I was told that the bartenders pick the music for the night from the owners extensive vinyl collection. Once the album is in, they play it in it's entirety. The sound system was systeming and on top of the great company and food, we were totally vibing with the music. Customer service was amazing. Every staff member we came across was so friendly, especially our server. The menu here changes. There are some mainstays, but they like to change things up. Their website shows current menus daily. We were told that family style is the best way to experience this restaurant. I am one of those people that will always listen to the staff and go with their suggestions. Our group went through quite a bit of their menu from apps, entrees and desserts. I loved that our server and staff brought our food out one by one in what they thought was the best progression so we could take a culinary journey. We started off light with their popular Dilly Bread. Best bread I've had in awhile. Next was the Texas Tartare. It was my first ever tartare and it was delicious. We then moved on to Fingerlingin Good which was a crispy potato dish with chili crisp and mascarpone. It was potatoes elevated to the highest level and so so good. Next up was Beer Battered Sweet Tots. I didn't think sweet potatoes could be that good. Our first entree was a vegan dish called the Carroty Kid. I could seriously become a vegan if all dishes tasted like this. It was curried. A bowl of jasmine rice would've made it a complete meal. Next we tried another famous Nobie's dish called Nonno's Pasta. Handmade, perfectly cooked tagliatelle with a delicious bolognese. I wouldn't share this next time. Ok, I will, but it was that good. On to the heavier dishes. First up was the Jamon With Your Bad Self. This came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was favorite heavy entree. It was high quality, iberico pork steak with shaved brussels and all kinds of other tasty ingredients that when combined made such a tasty bite. We then went to the sea with the Drops of Grouperter. It was good, but not something I would order again. It was a little too smoky for my liking. Our biggest dish that came market priced was the Kick His Ass Seabass. This was a whole fish that was presented beautifully on a platter with all the accouterments to make your own elevated fish tacos. We left no morsel of fish behind. It was absolutely delicious. One of the things this place is really known for is their pies. This was the part I was most excited about. Just like their menu, their pies change up. We got all their offerings that night which they presented on one big platter of goodness. Their main stay and I believe always on the menu is the famous Olive Oil Cake. It's not a pie, but I can see why this is such a popular dessert. I can't even describe it, you just have to try it to understand. The pies we had were the Black Bottom Strawberry Pie, Banana Rum, and the Peanut Butter Pie. I would order all of them again. We all had a difference of opinion on which was the best, but my fave was the Banana Rum. Overall, I was highly impressed with this place and kind of mad at myself for waiting so long to make it here. It had made it's way to the top of my list of favorite restaurants in Houston. I give it an overall 8.5/10 and it probably would've more if I would've gotten a little more potatoes with my meal. The lobster Mac was okay. The lobster was well cooked but the mac was a standard mac and cheese. Not pictured but I tried from my neighbors and liked: the seafood dip and the wagyu meatball pasta - would likely be my next Bungalow order. They also do a personal s'mores plate for birthday celebrants which I thought was really cute and unique. I must say though, parking cannnn be a hassle. But apart from that, would highly recommend!

Food waited in the private event room for 20 minutes without being served to guests, multiple drinks/glasses broke, and there was visibly no accountability for the several food issues associated with our large party. Gabrielle's attitude towards asking for corrections for your meal was substandard for what you should've received at such as "nice" establishment. The event room was unusually warm. As busy as it appears with the ratings online- I would definitely say it's inflated due to the chef (taste of food) and NOT the service. To have spent $400 for my meal with my spouse- we received a $50 meal with $0 service. Chic-Fil-A has better customer service. GM Kevin, should review the footage of the private party event that happened yesterday for the table of 17 & definitely reprimand, retrain, and reconsider some of this staff. Once he left, the night appeared to go downhill. I had a cheese sandwich which was good, but would be better if served on Texas Toast or Garlic bread. The Server was very friendly and easy to talk to.
