    Seafood paella

Such a great girls night spot! My friends and I had a great dinner all thanks to Payton's impeccable service and friendliness. We ordered a variety of tapas and drinks based on Payton's recs and they sure didn't disappoint. Some faves were the following: cauliflower - jam packed with flavor seafood paella - perfectly cooked seafood and crispy rice bits were bomb olive oil cake - moist and loved the salt on top My Valencian gin and tonic was very refreshing and I loved the hint of thyme and citrus. Parking was valet. Make sure to make a reservation as this spot gets crowded. Didn't know this was a chain, but would definitely return!

Barcelona has become one of my favorite wine bars in town. I discovered Barcelona last year thanks to Yelp. Even though it is a chain, it has a neighborhood feel. I've visited a few times for dinner and brunch. One thing I appreciate about Barcelona is that they're open late. The menu changes seasonally. Some of the tapas options have been on the menu for awhile and others have not. I have enjoyed just about every dish that I have tried! Some standouts for me have been the Crispy Okra, Kale Salad, Potato Tortilla, Olive Oil Pancakes, Chicken Pintxos, and the Albondigas. They have so many wines to choose from and you can sample the wine before ordering. I've had a few of the wines as well as the Catalan Gintonic which was so good and refreshing! If you go on a Sunday, take advantage of their half off bottle special! My friends and I took advantage of this special for brunch and ordered a bottle of champagne. Our server brought unlimited juice for the table. We had the Guava-Lavender-Lemon juice and the Orange-Peach-Grapefruit juice. I liked both, but really enjoyed the Guava-Lavender-Lemon juice. It's a different take on the classic mimosa. The staff have always been so nice. Some servers have been more attentive than others, but overall, I've never had any negative encounters with employees. The only downside is parking. Montrose is already challenging for parking and the current construction on Westheimer adds to the difficulty. I usually find street parking in the neighborhood but they do have valet for $5. Despite the parking situation, it's a great place to gather. A GNO, date night, or a celebration, Barcelona has something for everyone.

Came for a Sunday brunch with friends. Nice to go with a group for a tapas style way to start the week. Reservations were easy. Nice to have a large table for our party of four. Favorite taste in our group was the Olive Oil Pancakes. Cinnamon Butter, maple syrup and the most delicious pancakes. I love cooking with olive oil, and these were just so light, so fluffy and so addictively delicious. We almost ordered a second set. The Patatas Bravas were also a hit. Crispy potatoes with a salsa brava and garlic aioli. How can you miss with these? The Spinach Frittata was filled with veggies and sheep's cheese. So yummy. Perfect for a Sunday brunch. Although I love redfish, the Redfish a la Plancha was just okay. A small serving and not impressive like the other dishes. Although I didn't try them, the bacon wrapped dates were the least favorite for our group. Loved the NA pitcher of Red Sangria. Not sure of everything that was in it, but the fresh fruit, elderflower and guava nectar made this morning drink so light and refreshing. Would definitely order this again. On Sundays, bottles are half-priced. Tip: Order a BarCava Brut for $22 and then make your own mimosas. Our sweet server gave us glasses filled with orange-peach-grapefruit and guava-lavender-lemon to customize the mimosas to taste. What a clever Sunday brunch tip. Thanks for a great Sunday brunch. Service was great. The food was delicious. Thanks for the tips for the sangria and the mimosas. Love this amazing Taste of Barcelona in Houston.

Barcelona Wine Bar is a great place for a variety of occasions - from dates, bridal shows, engagement parties to girls nights and just a casual happy hour. Parking is limited around the area but their valet is $5. The staff is wonderful, very friendly and very personable. We did the $35 tasting menu and 2 pitchers of white sangria and everything we had was delicious. Highly recommend making a reservation for a larger party but there was plenty of bar seating midday on a Saturday. I'd definitely come back and highly encourage others to give this place a try!

    Whipped Sheep's cheese

Friends and I rung in the new year at Barcelona Wine Bar and I'm disappointed I spent all of 2025 up and down Westheimer without ever spotting this fine eatery. The stuffed peppers were choice. The pepper added a subtle sweetness to the aged cheese inside, but the star of this show was the salsa verde. The salsa was herbaceous with a slight tang. The whipped sheep's cheese came with exquisitely crisped Crostinis. I suggest being generous with the truffle agave and pimentón cheese. The beef empanadas were a little bit on the sweeter side, almost reminiscent of some kind of barbecue which I'm afraid isn't what I was totally expecting when I order this dish. The red pepper sauce however was delicious and the dish was obviously very well made. I would probably explore other things on the menu before reordering these. The Basque burnt cheesecake was not great. And I'm part Basque!! It was slightly dry and not great in texture. Th is may have been the intent but was not particularly to my liking. The ambiance is like any other trendy wine bar and really curates the select Catalan atmosphere. Our waitress maintained a perfect balance of courtesy and nonchalance. I will be coming back here again to try the test of the menu, and I WILL be ordering the patatas bravas. These are a must. The Barcelona Wine Bar menu has great sauces, and that salsa brava is absolutely exceptional. The salsa has an enjoyable chunky-rustic texture with a bold flavor and mild spice. The creamy garlic aioli only complimented the salsa and papas.

NA Sangrias, mimosas, patatas bravas, & red fish a la plancha

Barcelona is a cute wine bar (also serves sangria and cocktails, btw) serving Spanish and Mediterranean tapas dishes. I joined friends for Sunday brunch, which was highly recommended. Our friend booked a reservation and was able to add a fourth person without any issues. It's on Westheimer where all the restaurants and shops are, so it's pretty busy. You can either park on the street or in the neighborhood behind. There's bar, small table and booth seating available. One of our friends who arrived early got to switch us to a booth since we'd have a few plates to share for the four of us. My friend and I shared the NA red sangria. I liked that there was a NA option for that, and you can choose either red or white. We ordered a pitcher since we were sharing. It was delicious and refreshing. I think I had about 3 wine glasses of it. Our group shared the red fish à la plancha, patatas bravas, spinach frittata, olive oil pancakes and bacon-wrapped dates. Some of the dishes were bigger than others. Tapas is meant to be small plates, and they were, but it's a little overpriced. For example, the red fish was $15.50 for maybe 2 oz of fish. The stack of olive oil pancakes were small and thin for $8.50. If you're sharing, it's not that much food. I was going to order another personal stack of olive oil pancakes because that cinnamon butter was so good! I decided not to after I let all of what we ordered and drank settle for a bit after. The valdeon whipped blue cheese under the bacon-wrapped dates didn't taste very good and seemed grainy to me. It was my least favorite. The standouts for me were the olive oil pancakes, spinach frittata that was actually loaded with more veggies and bell peppers and the patatas bravas which was piled with potatoes topped with mayo that melted down and looked almost like melted cheese on top. It's a fun place for friends to gather or a cute date spot. You may or may not be hungry after depending what you order. There are larger plates/entrees like paella and branzino to share.

    Apertivo charcuterie

Corey, general manager, graciously invited me back out to try again. I brought two of my girl friends, and his exceptional service and warm greeting made all the difference! There was a hiccup with last minute reservations the last time we went, thus the long wait time. We didn't wait at all this time. The food was very tasty- I highly recommend the flank steak and the apertivo charcuterie to start things off. Their wine list is great as well. The ambience is always nice- good lighting, industrial comfy feel with an outdoor area as well, and music isn't too loud. I saw a lot of happy faces around me!

    Alex N.

What a great place to get wine, drinks, and tapas. The service here was amazing! The tapas we got were amazing, without the sauce alone it was great, however could use a little bit more sauce, just cause. Everything was juicy and flavorful, I highly recommend and would come back.

    Lizette M.

Ambience is great and versatile, whether you're out for happy hour, drinks with the girls or a sizzling fun date, the atmosphere is always alive and welcome. Food comes out at an impressively timely pace for a place that gets very busy, drinks are always good. I've been here casually enough times to say it's one of my fav wine bars the only downside is parking but that's montrose for you.

A friend brought me here when I visited the area. I had Spanish food only twice before and this one was as good. The tapas choices were great and the cocktail was delicious! The only thing I don't like was the noise level, it was very loud that we can hardly have a conversation without shouting.

    Olive oil pancakes

Came for brunch on a Sunday w some friends. We had a reservation but it wasn't super busy! They have a great deal on Sunday- half off bottles. We got a bottle and the mimosa flavors separate so we could try both flavors. The guava-lavender-lemon one was definitely my favorite! We also tried the non alcoholic sangria, which they serve with a glass with fruit in it. It was very refreshing. They do charcuterie, tapas and big plates. We decided on tapas so we all agreed on some plates and shared everything. We got bacon wrapped dates, redfish, olive oil pancakes, frittata, & patatas bravas. My favorite was definitely the olive oil pancakes- they are served with a cinnamon butter and it's just a really great flavor. Least favorite was or only the bacon wrapped dates. I love anything with bacon but I didn't like the cheese they had underneath the dates. It was a smidge to gamey/bleu cheese flavored for me. Overall I really enjoyed our time here! I would definitely love to comeback and try some of the other tapas and maybe a paella.

    Paella
    Maria C.

Had an incredible experience at this place! First, the food was delicious we ordered a paella for four people and it had a delicious flavor. It was the perfect amount for four people and was very enjoyable. The wine is half price on Sundays so it was pretty affordable. The place is beautiful inside and has a valet parking. The only thing to improve is that the waitress told us the paella was going to take 45minutes and it was almost an hour that we have to wait for it but I would still recommend this place.

    Chicken Kababs
    Jennifer B.

Great tapas, lovely music and vibes but the bartender was wonderful with connecting and recommendations. For sure want to come back and try the branzino but we got some other delicious items like the spiced beef empanadas, crispy sunchokes, flank steak, kale salad and drinks. This is a good spot to come and eat some tapas!

First, we got there pretty early for our reservation. We sat almost immediately upon check in. Our waiter was in training but did a really good job. Ordered a whiskey sour. Was seated at the bar so I got to watch it be made. The bartender- man that guy never stopped. He was organized and just did his thing. So many pretty drinks were made while I was there watching. The pink one, whatever it was, was really pretty! On to the food. We got two apps, two meals, and two desserts. Husband ordered the Brussels, Steak Frites, and the Devil's Affogato. I got the Bacon covered Dates, the Pizza, and the Sticky Toffee Cake. The Brussels were good - husband liked them more than me. They were good. Had cashews in them. Little spicy. The bacon covered dates. Think this was my favorite bite. Sweet, salty, creamy. Came we three & I had two. The pizza was sweet and salty as well. The crust was so good and fresh. The arugula set it off so well. Def a buy again! The Steak Frites was so good. The chimichurri sauce was perfect. Just the right mount of citrus. Steak was tender and the fries seasoned well. The desserts - don't skip them! The Devils Affogato we had the first time we ate at Sixty Vines. Had to have it again. If you like coffee, chocolate and vanilla ice cream just get it. Restaurant vibe is relaxed and clean. There were several large parties and what looked like a lot of date night guests. Just try it. No regrets!!

We were able to snag some free street parking and wandered our way into a cute setup with mood lighting and plenty of seating. There's a central bar and plenty of outdoor patio space. We were immediately helped as soon as we found a table which I really appreciated. The menu is HUGE and has anything you could possibly want. We're big red wine fans so we settled on that page. J opted for a cab while I decided on a couple to sample before ultimately choosing a red blend. I appreciate that they're more than happy to give you a taste before committing to a glass. You can choose between 3 or 6oz pours, or a bottle. We also decided to share a cheese board with the Willoughby cheese which was soft and delicious! I appreciated how kind and accommodating the servers were as they frequently checked on us. This is a great spot to enjoy some wine with friends, on date night, or anything really! We came in as an impromptu visit after an earlier event and figured we'd just stop in for a glass of wine or so. Upon walking in, the place is super cute with dim lighting and was quite crowded on a Thursday night. We didn't immediately find available seating, but after a couple minutes, a table opened up and we sat there. Our primary server was Grayson, who was super knowledgeable about the wine list. Other servers tended to us throughout the night, and all were equally as knowledgeable about the menu offerings. At the time we went, they were featuring various wines from Beaujolais. We ended up trying one of these, the Alexandre Burgaud Brouilly Rouge, which was a full-bodied red. This was a great recommendation, and I will say that we didn't conclude the visit on only one of these bottles... Based on Grayson's food recommendations, we ended up ordering the Mortadella panini and a combination charcuterie board. The Mortadella panini was unique but good - tomato, mortadella, provolone, and mustard all served on a pretzel bun. Probably not my dish of choice alongside wine, however I did really like the charcuterie board. We asked them to surprise us on the cheese and meat, and they really came through. The prosciutto was tasty and the cheese (can't remember which one) had a peppery flavor to it, which paired well with our red wine. The overall clientele vibe seemed like a range of date nights, girls nights, first dates, and solo drinkers. I love the diversity! We ended up making friends with the table next to us and eventually merged tables to make this a fun group date night. Definitely a highlight of the visit. We will definitely be back sooner than later. This is a cute neighborhood bar that I look forward to returning myself and brining out-of-town guests to come experience. They also have a dog-friendly patio - something to keep in mind whenever the day calls for drinking some wine in nice outdoor weather!

I experienced this side of the business during the early phase of the Covid pandemic back in 2020. At the time, during lockdown, going to a wine bar or wine shop just wasn't top of mind. However, I had researched a Cabernet Franc (red wine) called Nicolas Reau Enlèvement Demandé Anjou [Vintage year: 2017]. Reau is kind of a rebel working in the Loire Valley of France who is interested in producing organic, biodynamic wines that are essentially closer to nature and processed differently--more artisanal, so to speak. I read about this wine and wanted to find a bottle locally, which wasn't an easy task as I recall. This is where Vinology comes in. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but had to have a bottle of this excellent wine. Like many people, I preferred to stay indoors during the early part of the pandemic and was kind of nervous about going out. When I called Vinology, I expressed my dilemma, and the guy on the other end of the phone came up with a great solution. He offered to deliver the bottle of wine I purchased to my address. I actually met him at the edge of the garage entrance to where I live. This was great, exceptional above and beyond service. I will always treasure and remember Vinology and plan to support the business more in the future. Hats off to the folks who own and run this wine establishment.

I don't know what happened but I would not recommend this place the staff is unfriendly, not welcoming, and make you feel like you don't belong there (you are putting them out) I never complain about places but honestly I was so upset about today's experience I couldn't help myself but alarm the owner (by making this comment) because if you knew making a cheese and meat tray was an inconvenience or an annoyance to your employees then maybe you should take it off the menu. Not once has that ever happened. We have been there one time when you were out of most of the cheese and some meat and you still was able to make some type of plate to snack on. Thank goodness for the under the volcano across the street they are amazing, delicious, welcoming, and happy to serve you!! Please visit under the volcano and skip this place. It's not worth it and you feel unappreciated as soon as you walk in.

The service is very warm and friendly, and the servers are incredibly attentive and happy to recommend different menu items. I went with some friends on a Friday afternoon and there was ample parking, quick seating and service. We got a bruschetta board, and I loved having the option to choose 4 from a wide assortment, from sweet to savory. The smoked salmon and bacon, tomato, burrata bruschetta were great, and the prosciutto ricotta fig was my favorite by far. All of them were on a delicious piece of toasted bread, and I thought it was a great deal. They are great to share as they are cut into 4 pieces. The interior was dimly lit, but warm, and the bathroom was clean and well-kept. The seating was comfortable and there was a variety of options from bar to booth. Overall, I would highly recommend coming!

Start with the Crispy Cauliflower, it was cooked just right the was very tasty. The romeseco sauce was tangy and the raisins were sweet added a nice complement of texture. For the entree. I choose "Select Two" with a Half Panini and salad; the Italian Beef dip Panini (no cheese on focaccia bread), the Green Garden Chicken Chop (no cheese). The Italian Beef Dip Panini was tasty... the dip was a bit too salty. You get a choice of bread, I selected the focaccia based on recommendation... such a good choice. The Green Garden Chicken Chop is a hardy salad and definitely a garden party, each bite gave a different texture and taste, I really like this one. This can be a place for family, friends or a date.

We recently came here with friends wanting to check it out for the first time (even though they are…read moresadly closing in just a couple of weeks). I've had my fair share of Paulie's but never had the chance to come to Camerata...until now. I had been missing out for so long! We journeyed from white to red wines throughout the night. We started out with the Babylonstoren, a chenin blanc from South Africa. We then moved into pink (rose) with the Ana Beirut - a blend of cab sauv, syrah, and tempranillo grapes with a bit of skin contact to give the wine the pink color. Lastly we ordered the Guelbenzu - a red blend of tempranillo, cab sauv, syrah, and graciano. This full-bodied red was the absolute fan favorite of the table. Food options are on the light side: meat & cheese boards, bread, and small bites. We started out with the warm bread - while it's normally served with butter, there's an option to switch that out with olive oil & herbs which is what we did. We then went for the meat & cheese platter. We couldn't decide on which meats or cheeses, so we did the option of ordering all 8! This came with 4 delicious meats and 4 tasty cheeses (from Houston Dairymaids), also with crispy fava beans, olives, pickles, and bread. This was a good amount for our group of 4 to share. Elena was our server and she was absolutely OUTSTANDING. She vibed with us throughout the night and made sure that we were well-taken care of. I loved her energy along with her vast knowledge of wines. We got plenty of good recommendations from her during our time there. I'm super sad that Houston will be losing this gem permanently at the end of the year (and even more sad that I only discovered it in the last month of its existence). While I know that owner Paulie won't be moving this venture to a new spot, I do hope a descendant of Camerata manifests itself somewhere in Houston in the coming years.

It's part of the Paulie's Restaurant brands, but completely separate from the restaurant from what I could tell. Parking is a bit difficult, but after a bit of circling we were able to find a spot and make our way in what looked like the back entrance. It was very low key, and despite the sign, the door seemed almost hidden in that back little corner. The staff seemed to have a bit of a hipster vibe-- not unexpected given the Montrose area-- but were very friendly. They offered suggestions, but let us go with what we wanted to try. There's a food menu along with the drinks, but we were heading to the restaurant next door, so we passed on grabbing food. We ended up going with a couple of glasses of red and a couple of the specialty chocolates. My wife loved her salted caramel chocolate. I enjoyed my peppermint chocolate. For the glasses of wine, I've got better at home for bottles the same price as those glasses. My wife really enjoyed the vibe, but even if this place wasn't about to close down, I'm not sure I'd be coming back here often. It's just too hard to park.

Cheeky look at the simpler 'by the glass' menu. The main menu is much wordier and stacked with choices.

This shop differentiates itself from others in that they sell natural wines - organic and no additives or preservatives. I did notice with these wines that you don't quite get the same buzz as with other wine; on the flip side, you don't wake up feeling groggy the next day. The vibe inside is super cute and intimate. It's a converted house, and you can choose your seating in the various "common areas" of the house or the patio. The lighting is dark and intimate and they even have a disco ball spinning to some good tunes! We met owner Steve who was super welcoming - he and the entire staff at Light Years is super knowledgeable on their wines and are happy to make recommendations based on your preferences (and something that doesn't break the bank!). We were recommended a white pinot noir (crazy right?) for our first bottle, which was something unique and fun to try. While they did not have a chilled bottle available, they chilled a bottle off the shelf for us, but this did take about 15 minutes before we were served the wine. For our next bottle, we got a pinot noir - it was light and crisp, something I am not as used to in reds being primarily a cab sauv drinker myself. Our group really liked it and we didn't have any trouble killing the bottle. I appreciate having Light Years as a local neighborhood wine shop and will definitely be back to meet up with friends after a long day over some wine.
