We had a great experience at 1356 Public House. They couldn't seat our party of 4 in the main room but we found a table in the bar area. Our waitress was great, got our drinks fast but did take a bit too long to take our order. I feel like it always takes awhile to get your food here, but it is worth it. This was my first time getting a salad, Cobb Salad and I really liked it! The hamburger was great. The seasoned fries were awesome. My son wasn't impressed with the chicken tenders, but the Mac and cheese was devoured. read more

First time at this restaurant. I asked my server, Amanda, what's really good so I went with the Beef Tenderloin Sandwich. The sandwich has 6oz of beef tenderloin medallions with sautéed onions, horseradish mayo, lettuce and tomato on cheese garlic bread. The medallions were mostly tender and tasty. The horseradish mayo didn't have the kick I was hoping for. I chose the seasoned fries and they were incredible. They have a sweet taste. You must try them. I chose to come here today because it was listed as a sports bar. It has a sports bar vibe but it also has regular restaurant vibe. The server was great, always on top of everything. My calendar reminder was off by a time zone, so I got here an hour early. SO, I headed to the bar! I didn't make note of my first drink, but I enjoyed my 2nd one better anyway. I think it was an All American Lemonade, with strawberry puree. Tasty, but not overly sweet. When everyone else got there, we moved to a bar table and I ordered the Ciderboy's Grand Mimosa and enjoyed it very much. For my meal, I ordered the Stuffed Spicy Burger with 1356 Seasoned Fries. The burger was DELICIOUS! Took half of it home for another meal. My only complaints were that the service was VERY slow and it's a pretty loud place, which isn't my favorite. I probably wouldn't choose to come back here, but if somebody else wanted to meet here, I wouldn't fight them on it. read more

1356 pub and grill is a great place to get together with friends to watch a game, have a drink and enjoy some very good pub food. Prices are very reasonable and I highly recommend the fish sandwich, the deep fried mushrooms are the best in st louis metro area. I have never had a bad meal or bad service in this establishment. Burgers are Big and tasty. Fish and chips are very tasty. Salads are big and fresh and appetizing. The veggie wrap is very good. There are weekend specials on appetizers and beer. read more

Visited on a Sat night. Arrived at a little past 5 and was immediately seated, but we got one of the last available tables. Ordered fried zucchini and mozzarella wedges as appetizers. The zucchini, served with ranch, were plentiful and had a nice crisp but were under-seasoned and just kind of "flat flavored." The mozzarella order included around 6-8 wedges served with marinara and ranch and were good. For our meal, we ordered the cowboy burger, spicy stuffed burger and fish and chips, the latter of which was a last minute decision because it was included as a "signature dish" on the menu. Two came with seasoned fries and one came with housemade chips on the side. The cowboy burger was ordered well-done, which is how it came out. The member of our party who ordered it reported that it was good. The stuffed spicy burger was ordered as medium but came out well-done, so it was dry. It also wasn't served with any kind of sauce or condiment. Ketchup and mustard are on the table but they didn't seem like the right flavors needed. The server only stopped by once right after the runner delivered the food so didn't have a chance to request something. The burger was stuffed with cheese and jalepenos and then layered with cheese on both sides. Despite the presence of jalepenos, there wasn't any heat. The peppers tasted like they were pickled so there was a tang from that. The deep fried pepper skewered through of the top of the bun had all the heat. The fish were flaky sticks with light batter. They were heavily salted, which really overtook the flavor. I think they would have been excellent with the proper amount of salt. The seasoned fries were the best part of the meal. They were generous portions with a nice salty/sweet seasoning. The house chips lacked crunch and had no salt. Reactions were mixed on this vist, but we agreed we would try it again for a second chance. read more

Places with kid menus are always a win to me. And the service was quick. (It was not crowded so I did expect it to be quick.) The philly cheesesteak was very good and my kids enjoyed the mac and cheese (I thought it lacked flavor but most kids won't notice). He was very knowledgeable about the menu and general information about the restaurant. But he was also very helpful with me in particular. My boyfriend and I stopped by this gem on Saturday afternoon for lunch. When we walked in the place was PACKED and it was only 1pm. We were able to be immediately seated at a table top in the bar area. Waitress acknowledged us as soon as we sat down. With it being so busy, she was still able to tend to us and not make us feel "forgotten". I ordered the Caribbean Jerk wings. They were crispy, hot and the flavor was amazing. The flavor is sort of sweet with a kick of heat. My Caesar salad was also delicious, you can taste the quality in the dressing. My boyfriend ordered chicken tenders and seasoned fries (not pictured, sorry!) and I can honestly say those were some of the best fries I've ever had. They are seasoned with a special seasoning. My husband and I went by today for lunch. It was our first time visiting. First, the positive. I waiter, and lord help me I can't remember his name was good. No issues with him at all. The food however, which is why you go to a restaurant was very unremarkable. My husband got the fried fish special. I got the chicken sandwich that on the menu, is listed as one of their "house specialties". Nothing that either of us got really had any seasoning to it. I mean very flat with really no flavor. The only thing with any seasoning were the fries and the seasoning is......odd. It's kind of sweet and not much salt but doesn't have any specific flavor. It's really tough to describe. We arrived at 4:30 pm and placed our order with the male bartender and at 5:15 pm we left and never received our food. He also screwed up the drink order. Our food was not even hot food, a salad and a turkey wrap. Drinks were a tea and a soda and he brought 2 teas. It will be awhile before we go if we do at all. Great neighborhood bar with event space for occasions. Still can't get used to the new name so we just call it the Old Krieger's.

I was a little upset when they took over for Krieger's but ..... Not any more. This place is fantastic. I love the revamp that was done inside. The food is hot and comes out fast each of the few times I have been back. I also love the happy hours on Sunday - its only in the bar so there is limited seating.
