They do a lunch menu even on weekends. They're closed on Mondays. Prices are very reasonable and the portions are large. My wife and i both did the lunch menu and we both selected wonton soup and and a pork egg roll. There's a small upcharge if you select fried rice over white rice. The soup was pretty good but on the small side. I was surprised at our portion sizes on our lunch entrees. The food is simply very good and very reasonable. I must say that they make the best Vegetable Mei Fun with Tofu we have ever eaten. We have ordered it every time and sometimes two orders to take home. The Tofu Curry is very tasty with just the right amount of spicy heat. We also had the Vegetable Fried Rice and again it was very good. This place is a gem and our go to place when we are camping in SW Houston. There is plenty of seating and a calming Atmosphere. Well, 168 Szechuan is the latest restaurant to operate at this location which has had Chinese restaurants for the past 50 years! In the last iteration, its predecessor 168 Beijing was primarily set-up as a "take - out" Chinese restaurant. Now 168 Szechuan has re-established the spacious dining room (though no diners were seated when I went to pick-up my order). The eggplant dish and Moo Goo Gai Pan were wonderful. All menu items are reasonably priced. Oddly enough, there are no pork dishes on the menu. Not even the American favorite 'Sweet & Sour Pork.' You can get small bits of pork in their egg rolls. So I was referred to try this place, even thou the reviews were not so good we did. My wife's plate was the mushroom beef with zucchini and it looked really great but it was was pretty good. Very large portions. I on the other hand ordered the flat rice noodle with beef. For starters it had a overwhelming taste of bean sprouts and I like bean sprouts but this sprout was strong. As I got into the plate I noticed that they were really tight with the beef. All in all if you want a quick Asian meal that is def a twofer ( two for the price of one) go for it. Noodle plate was $9 and mushroom was $12. But if you want the real deal I suggest going to Lucky Dragon in China Town and save a few bucks. read more

I never thought the day would come where I would find my dream American Chinese restaurant. Surprisingly, I found it before the Straw Hats reached Raftel. I am not sure how "authentic" this restaurant is, but it serves up some of the dopest food I've had. My go to dish is the Chef Special Hot and Spicy Chicken Wings. Its your run of the mill chicken wings drenched in what reminds me of Huy Fong Vietnamese Chili Garlic sauce. Initially upon opening the foil wrapping it is oily, and a bit messy. When you bite in the first bite is heaven. It has the texture and subtle flavor of a chicken wing enveloped in just the right amount of spicy sauce flooding your senses. What blew me away the most from this place is the Hot and Spicy soup. It is one of the most standard items on a Chinese take out menu, and when you get the combo here it comes with it. The Hot and Spicy soup has this under layer of flavor that I can never quite put my figure on. The heat is there, and the peppery goodness keeps you craving more. Top 3 hot and soup soups I have ever had. While the decor of the restaurant inside and out hides away the true gem of a kitchen. It is genius. This is the worst food. we ordered 40.00 worth of food. the chicken was horrible . it was dry and had leather texture to it. we ended up throwing what was on our plates. I call and told the girl that the food was terrible. I took the two chicken plates back and wanted a refund for the chicken plates. they said no and that only credit would be given. I told her that now where was it posted that there were no refunds. I told her we didn't want credit because we weren't coming back. walking into the establishment it smells like sewage. i should have known the smell of the place it wasn't going to be good. The service provided is friendly, knowledgeable, and pretty speedy, if you call ahead to place your order. They also give a pretty big portion for the dinner menu. You want cheap chinese? They've got it. Only ever ordered food from here via delivery, though I drive by their location in a strip mall regularly and can confirm it's a hole in the wall. Which is probably most of it's charm. We've ordered a pretty good spread of different entrees and never really had a complaint. For cheap chinese food, the quality is quite good. Anyone complaining about this place and/or their misconstrued expectations is a fool. Oh, and they deliver food faster than anyone else in the Meyerland area. This review is for our experience ordering for pickup via UberEats. This place is honestly just great - we stumbled across it looking for a cheaper lunch special after a closer place to us increased its prices, and the quality of the food way exceeded our expectations. Portions are large, and appetizers outside the typical egg roll seem to be hand-made. We especially recommend the Szechuan-style pork wantons, and any entree with shrimp in it. A lunch special with shrimp is $7.99, and as well as a good selection of vegetables (baby corn and zucchini were included with my Cashew Shrimp) the shrimp are huge, taste extremely fresh, and there's plenty of them. My dining companions ordered their own shrimp dishes today after seeing mine the first time we ordered, and none of us got less than six. And if shrimp isn't your thing and you prefer something more 'familiar', the Orange Chicken is very good and has a sauce with real orange peel, though this place does make it with a spicy kick. We'll be coming back here again and again, and I'll update my review with pictures and opinions on other dishes when I'm able to. read more

Don't believe any negativity you hear about this place! First off, the entire price with delivery included was 25$ for pork fried rice, sesame chicken dinner, and a large egg drop soup. (See picture to witness how they pack the containers FULL, ignore the fact we've dug in already). Last time I ordered this much food from a different Chinese restaurant, it cost 40$. We had takeout and for the few minutes I was in the restaurant I thought it was clean but there was no one there for dinner on a Saturday night. Ladies at the counter were very nice. Pork egg rolls - standard fare, nothing to write home about Cream cheese puffs - as you'd expect, could have used another filling ingredient like scallions or garlic Combo lo mein - pretty solid, a little salty but recognizable chunks of chicken, beef and shrimp. Large portion Honey chicken - this could easily be called "dessert chicken" or "doughnut chicken" (patent pending). Ubiquitous deep fried battered chicken pieces smothered in a way too sweet sauce that lacks any depth. Literally gritty from the granulated sugar that adorns the pieces. Kinda tastes like a Chinese doughnut filled with chicken. If they called it "doughnut chicken" I bet they'd sell more of it. I would not recommend and won't have again. We ordered delivery from Uber Eats and wanted to give this place a go as we've never ordered from here before: Ordered the following: Kung Pao Chicken that comes with white rice (they forgot the rice) Cons: mediocre; lacked actual Szechuan/Chinese flavors & spice; WAY too much salt - MAJOR CON they forgot the white rice!! - not sure what I'm supposed to eat this with cause you can't eat it on its own with all that salt!! Pros: fresh produce and clean meat. Veg Curry fried rice with egg Cons: again, WAY too much salt. No other flavour comes through besides salt. Egg omelet on top as opposed to being mixed into the rice (may not be a con for some, it is for me) Pros: fresh produce Pork & Veg steamed dumpling Pros: perfect meat to veggies ratio, perfectly steamed, lovely ginger dipping sauce. Again, you can tell the meat and veggies were clean and fresh. Cons: none Bottom line - with all the salt in both the main dishes, they were basically inedible. The white rice would have helped take away (maybe) some of the salt in the chicken dish, however, they didn't include it. So now i have all this food and no one will touch it. Not even the boys (who inhale everything) because of all the salt. Won't be ordering from here again as there are far nicer options sprinkled all around Houston/greater Houston for the same price range. Every time I order delivery they tell me 45 minutes, but it's always much sooner, it's awesome. Food is always hot, fresh, and delicious. We always order over $42, so we get a small sesame chicken free. The portions are so big, so I only order for my husband and kids. There's always leftovers for next days lunch. I always heat up my lunch in the toaster oven, not the microwave. This last time we had the steamed dumplings, cream cheese puffs, general tso's chicken, combo lo mein, and combo fried rice. I used to really like this place back in the day when they were known as "168 Beijing", but when they turned the name to "168 Szechuan" it's pretty much been downhill. They use to deliver within 5 miles but don't do that anymore and try to force you to pay additional costs by utilizing food delivery services. They don't allow take out because they're always having "situations" with their building (A lie they tell to force you to pay extra with a food delivery service). Might need to call the health department on them to help get them right. read more

So... this place used to be called 168 Beijing and I remember the food being good and it's been a while since I had it. I was on this side of town so I stopped to get an old favorite, or so I thought. I ordered a simple meal of beef with broccoli, the lunch portion. It also came with a small wonton soup and an egg roll. Pretty standard Chinese food order. I ate the soup and egg roll first because I knew I wouldn't finish everything and thought of saving some for later. The soup was meh. The egg roll was an egg roll, nothing special. Then we get to the entree. It seemed a bit off, but I was starving so I dug in. The brown sauce was very jelly like and thick. Some pieces of meat were tough with burnt edges and a few areas were cold but I thought mixing everything up would make a difference. Boy did I think wrong. After my third bite, I finally put my finger on it. I was not eating freshly cooked Chinese food but rather Chinese food that had been prepared in bulk and then reheated. I asked the hostess could fresh food be prepared to which she replied, "The manager is not here so there's nothing I can do. But I will try to go talk to the chef." After she disappeared into the back for what seems to be maybe 30 seconds she returned and said, "Yea there's nothing I can do. Sorry." I quickly gathered my things and left everything on the table. I'm actually writing this review in my car so I know I'm mad. I typically give reviews a couple of days to get my thoughts straight but, nah. They are going to get this heat. Surprisingly good considering everything. It's in a really shady strip mall next to a foot massage place named "EW Foot massage". Nothing is shadier than that. It's everything you imagine it to be -- dark, some Chinese themed decor, a fish tank and the usual banquet chairs -- it's a bare bones operation. But the food? It's pretty good for take out Chinese. It's not haute, it's not different, it's totally authentic American-Chinese, and it's tasty! I'm in between a 3 and 4 too. I took a risk and it paid off. I think it's better than Hu's down the street. I appreciate their attempt at packing things. They try. But my eggplant still is all over the place when I get home. They pack the sweet n sour sauce separate from the fried chicken parts to keep it the fried chicken crispy. Everything is hot when you get home. The garlic eggplant is my favorite dish ever (ALL THE EGGPLANT!). The general's chicken is done really well -- mostly fried chicken parts, not so much broccoli. The fried dumplings are homemade and really damn tasty. $5.50 for 12 dumplings. Unlike at Oishii, I never ever wait for my take out. I just drive up, get out, pay and leave. Just gross. The egg roll tasted old, not fresh at all. The wonton soup was truly disgusting, avoid it like the plague. The food here is amazing. This place is so hiding, I didn't know about it till my mom told me about it. It was a really good find for me for in Houston. I've eating at lots and lots of Chinese restaurants back home in Los Angeles and this one is one of my favorites I've been to. We had... (D1) Vegetable Fried Rice (D11) Vegetable Lo Mein (D25) Orange chicken (at first I didn't wanna try the Orange chicken because it looks spicy but wasn't spicy at all) (D32) Honey chicken (this by far was my favorite thing we got. The lunchtime service was super fast for Seafood Vegetable soup and egg rolls. So, for workers on a tight schedule, I would give it five stars. The soup was very good and it was a huge portion. I took half of it home and it was even better the next day. I know they do a lot of take-out business and apparently that is at the expense of consideration for the dining room atmosphere.
