    Chicken vegetables
    Laura H.

Today, I decided to try a new lunch spot and ordered from a restaurant. The online ordering process was pretty easy. I ordered the lunch combo L5, which included chicken with vegetables. You can choose the type of rice, soup, and either an egg roll or a spring roll. The wonton soup had a very flavorful broth and the noodles were tasty. However, the chicken and vegetables were just OK. I forgot to mention in the notes that I don't really care for too much broccoli, and my dish had a lot of it. Additionally, I don't care for zucchini in this dish. The dish was a bit bland, and the white sauce tasted like flour, so I had to use the soy sauce packet. On a positive note, the spring roll was quite delicious. If I were to dine or order from here again, I would try something else on their menu.

R5. Combo Fried Rice. No Peas. No Carrots.

Ordered takeout. Food was ready at the time for pick up. Inside was decent and clean. We got... 1. Combo Fried Rice (No Peas. No Carrots.): 5/10 it was ok. There's an aftertaste I can't describe. 2. Shrimp Lo Mein (No Cabbage. No Carrots.): 5.5/10 - shrimp used were small. Noodle texture was more on the softer side. I don't like soft noodles as they tend to be more soggy when you bite into it. Some other meats got lost in this dish-- probably happens when you reuse the wok and don't get all the meat out from previous dish cooked. Also-- there's also an aftertaste I can't describe. 3. Mongolian Beef: 5/10 meat was too velveted, a little mushy, flavors were ok (not really traditional that I'm used to in authentic Chinese food places), spice level wasn't what I expected from this particular dish AND NOT ENOUGH BEEF for $19.95. Price-wise-- I don't think it was worth it. If you wanted extra beef, they charge an additional $10. It was literally like 10 pcs of beef (sizes ranged from regular to tiny bits) and mostly onions and green onions. So thinking the way I think, I paid $2/ pcs of beef. I was pretty disappointed when I opened the container TBH. To charge that price-- at least give 20 pcs of meat-- making it approximately $1/pc of beef. Yeah... I had BEEF with this BEEF dish. I'd still give it another try in the future. It wasn't the worst, it wasn't the best-- but it was average for us. Try it for yourselves, you might like/love it.

They are open for dining in and we enjoyed a couple lunch specials. My wife had the happy family with beef, chicken and shrimp, it was loaded with veggies. I went with the General Tso's chicken and it was spicy so sharing wasn't an option since my wife doesn't like much spice, I loved it. We both enjoyed our choice of wonton soup, and an egg roll. We've ordered delivery from here and really loved it so it was a no brainer to visit, glad we did, we have a new favorite in the immediate area.

Ordered the general tso and fried rice. Food was good but pricey. Service was quick as there were not any other customers at my time of visit. Located in Meyerland, near major highway, so that's a plus!

We ordered 3 baos: Korean chicken, bulgogi, and pork belly. The Korean chicken tasted like frozen chicken tender/patty with gochujang sauce on it. The bulgogi was like minced meat. Flavor-wise, it was better out of the 3, not too sweet, but the texture threw me off. The pork belly was thickly cut however it was dry and not tender which made it hard to eat. We also tried the viral crab rangoon burrito. It was heavily filled with cream cheese and not much crab. You definitely need to dip the sauce to pair with the creaminess, otherwise you would not taste anything besides fried cream cheese. Overall, I will say that this is not for me. But the staff were friendly and the service was good.

5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. Should we ever find ourselves in Houston again, we will absolutely be revisiting this hidden gem.

No complaints here since we were starving from an 8 hour road trip. The Dan Dan Noodles...I had high expectations but sadly this dish fell short. I recommend Hu's Cooking to use a bigger bowl and more sauce because it was difficult to mix the noodles and the sauce wasn't...saucing, unfortunately. I wish there was more flavor in this dish. The Scallion Pancake was super over-fried and oily. See image in my review. The outer parts of the pancake were fried to a crisp and only a small circumference in the center stayed chewy. I know Chinese tends to be oily but this pancake soaked up way too much oil. Half a Peking duck: super great price for so much meat. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here. Dinner on a Saturday was packed but we got seated quickly and food arrived fast.

However, I currently have food poisoning after eating here yesterday. 30 minutes after coming back from lunch break, I had diarrhea. I thought maybe it was just a bad day, but I am still suffering from this. I have to use the toilet many times a day, and I feel so nauseous. If it keeps getting worse, I am might have to consider going to urgent care. My boss ordered a salad that had the same veggies that came with the pan seared duck breast about a week ago, and also had diarrhea. He pieced two and two together. We believe that it's the veggies. I am worried that what I have is the parasite that's going around right now, cyclosporiasis. On another note, I wanted to try their specials. The lamb gyozas were okay. I didn't really like the skin of the gyoza, seemed a bit oily. I was excited to try the pan seared duck breast, but I found it to be a bit overcooked than what I usually have at other restaurants. A bit dry, kinda chewy, but the blueberry sauce was good. The salad that came on the side was good, but I believe that's what gave me diarrhea.

As for the entree, I ordered the Khao Soi with shrimp and my friend ordered the spicy red snapper. The curry broth with coconut milk was fragrant and with the toppings that came on the side (i.e. lime, onions/shallots, mustard greens, etc) enhanced the dish. The flat egg noodles were bouncy and the shrimp was solid. If you're stuck between choosing a curry dish and a noodle dish, get the best of both worlds and order the Khao Soi! As for the mains, the Spicy Seafood Fried Rice is a good value as it was loaded with all sort of fruits of the sea (shrimp, squid, and mussel), with prominent lemongrass and kaffir lime aroma, but a bit wet or moist for a fried rice dish, the Crabmeat Omelet is served with a nice portion of lump crabmeat where you can taste the flavor of the seafood and add sriracha to liking, and the Beef Pad See Ew is made appetizing with wok charred flat rice noodles along with a savory blend of soy sauce, Chinese broccoli and egg. The portion size is alright and filling for a moderately hungry individual, though it would've been even better a tad bigger for those coming in hangry. We came right when they opened and got seated right away. The restaurant itself isn't super big so reservations is recommended. They have seating inside and outside and most of the booth seating was reserved up already. We weren't super hungry so we shared some brisket nachos and some ribs. Both were amazing. The nachos had an asian flavor which we enjoyed. It had a lot of flavor but wasn't overwhelming. It had brisket, queso, salsa, queso, and some really good chips. I killed it. The ribs were also really good. An order was 3 ribs and they had a lots of tender meat on the bone and delicious flavor. It was a special for the night but I recommend it if they have it. I love that their menu had a wide variety but a lot of the items are fusion and can't be found anywhere else. For instance, they had smoked pork & kimchi eggrolls, smoked banh mi (vietnamese sandwich), and pho-strami sando. It's BBQ with a twist. But do keep in mind they do not do sliced meats or meats by the pound. Their service was good but very slow. It took them awhile to take our order, food to come, and forever to pay. I've come across a few IG videos of Blood Bros., so when my Fourth of July date wanted BBQ, I knew we had to visit their restaurant. It was even featured on The Michelin Guide list, which made it an even more enticing choice. As I approached the entrance, I was impressed by the spacious and functional outdoor dining area that had ceilings fans and tvs around. As I entered the store and made my way to the counter, I was warmly greeted by friendly staff members. One of them was a meat carver, while the other was responsible for taking your side orders. Then right around the corner, the cashier took our drink orders and rang us up. Service was swift and prompt. We ordered: Beef Rib - Minimum order is 1lb ($44.25/lb). My date declared this dish the best out of everything that we ordered, praising it was moist and tender and gave it a 5/5 rating. Brisket - My date said the briskets had a big layer of fat yet the meat was lean and not very tender and would rate it 3/5. Potato Salad - Usually this is my favorite side but I was not a fan of Blood Bros'. Although it did have some contrasting textures to it, I thought the potato salad was more on the dry side and the dense potatoes made it unenjoyable. It was also too sweet for my liking. I would rate it 3/5. Cucumber Salad - The vibrant contrasting colors of green and red makes it look pretty but the taste is very bland and it had very little crunch to it. I would give this side a solid 1/5. Pimento Cheese and Firecrackers - This is the worst Pimento Cheese dip/spread I've had and the crackers were extremely salty. The cheese had a slight chemical aftertaste and an odd texture to it. I do not recommend ordering this dish and would give it a 1/5. The four slices of white bread that came with the meal were dry and more on the firm side despite being wrapped in clear plastic wrap. Note: There's a 3% surcharge added to all credit card payments.
