Absolutely loved our experience at Seventeen Sushi. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt welcoming and elevated, and the service was attentive without being overbearing. We made reservations here from a month ago. We came and the place was jammed, but only had to wait a few minutes, since we came on time for our reservation. It was a bit cool last night and I can't comment on the indoor ambiance, since we were seated outside. The food was really good and very filling. The service was nice and courteous. Little hidden gem right by the hospital. I'm a wrap junkie, especially for lunch to I stopped here on my way into work. Very warm greeting area filled with flowers and sushi bar where you can see the chef at work. I ordered the portobello mushroom wrap and a smoked salmon wrap for a friend to go. Let me just say...wow. The portobello mushroom wrap was perfectly grilled and melted with mozzarella cheese served with a side salad. I also snagged a bite of my friend's smoked salmon wrap which was also very good. Great lunch spot or to pick up to go. It is more than unfair for a customer to leave a 20% tip on top of the 18% they are already charging. That's called highway-robbery. This place is terrific. I really loved their food, and the employees are wonderful. The General Manager Marcella is such a sweetheart; she makes the whole restaurant very pleasant and inviting. I ordered the fish and chips. They were very good. You get a combination of sweet potato fries, and normal French fries. I'm sure you can ask for solely just one or the other when you order fish and chips. Very clean as well. Please remember, this is a Jewish kosher place to eat, so the prices are slightly higher than you may expect. (But most prices are high in Miami Beach). Also, there is an already added gratuity to the checks. Be aware when you're signing the checks. All in all a terrific meal. The sangria was wonderful. Service is lovely. Love coming to this place! First off the service is great, constantly refilling water and checking on us. I must say the fish is so fresh and rolls are huge!! I especially liked my kani salad it was so tasty. My mom loves veggie rolls and here they are so unique not just a typical cucumber avocado. The place is really cute, well lit, has low noise and the staff is great because they're proud of their work and always suggest little tid-bits the chefs are cooking up in the kitchen. The sushi is incredible. The rolls they've created have a more clean palate, are not doused in sauces which mask the flavor of the fish, so you get really good refreshing bites of the star of the plate - the fish I just can't believe I've lived next to it for so many years and had never tried it until I did, and fell in love. The sushi was super fresh and delicious and the salad was so nicely presented and crispy fresh. We were there last evening, Wednesday, October 20th. We had a wonderful server, Karla, who was on top of all of our needs. We live in Hollywood, FL and will make the long trek to Miami Beach, just to eat there again. The sushi fresh and delicious and some of the best on the beach and pizzas are better then the Italian pizza restaurants near by. Tried the Fugazzeta pizza and was unique and yummy! Very busy so make a reservation! Matias the owner is welcoming and gracias, greets everyone when he's there. You can tell he takes pride in his restaurant and providing the best food and service to his patrons. Servers are friendly and professional. The sushi is expensive for the quality. I've had better tasting sushi at several buffets... they don't even have regular soy sauce... they should have both regular and low-sodium... we waited ~10mins for the server to bring us water when we sat down and then we also waited ~8mins for her to pickup the payment/credit card... this is excessive AND inexcusable... They should NEVER automatically charge a TIP - especially 18%!!! And then to make matters worse, the receipt suggests ADDITIONAL tips? That's TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL and MISLEADING/DECEPTIVE - as many people may not notice you charge an 18% gratuity before receiving the credit card slip to sign... this business has no right to do these things... it's unscrupulous... the BBB should be notified... and on top of that... the servers weren't very kind/nice... or even good at their job!!!! ***my family felt very discriminated and not welcomed ** I came into this restaurant with my two children and my mother. We had just left the day at the beach and we're in the neighborhood so we decided to drop by. The minute we walked in we were told we weren't dressed in the appropriate attire we were wearing shorts and a shirt with flip-flops and pants with a bathing suit top but they sat us anyways . As soon as we approach the table a gentleman who work there approached us and was extremely rude in the process of advising us that my children could not bring in food from elsewhere, they had a drink and half a burger from another restaurant nearby. I advise the worker I can put it away and he quickly told me that was not allowed and asked us to leave . He made a very big deal out of it and was speaking at a very high tone so the entire restaurant heard and looked our way. I was extremely embarrassed and maintained calm and try to exit as soon as possible because I felt so embarrassed due to the way I was treated there . It felt as if we were not welcomed and felt very discriminated there. I have never experienced this in my life. And my children looked at me with a frightened look and were confused as to why we were told to leave . It's 2019 I didn't think this sort of behavior was still around . Due to the location of the restaurant I didn't think we had to go and dressed any differently than what we were in. There in south beach-- Alton and 17th where people wear flip-flops and shorts. Met friends for hors d'oeuvres and happy hour at 17. This restaurant is lovely with both outdoor and indoor dining. The personnel are attentive and gracious. A special shout out to Connie. One of our party only eats at Kosher establishments so this was a big plus. The fries are fantastic as are the fish sticks and quesadillas. The chocolate lava cake was great with special mint tea. Ended up staying with one friend to share a large dragon roll with tuna and salmon. Thank you Martin for the special dessert to take home. It was decadent. The restaurant has its own parking lot which is hard to come by on Miami Beach. Will be back and recommend highly. read more

The sushi looked amazing but the taste was average, ginger was dark and salty and the Wasabi was dry also had stale coconut shaving.
