While this restaurant is on the very touristy Espanola Way, the food is not touristy at all - meaning it's really good. We had lunch here during Miami Spice. We did have to ask for the Miami Spice menu - they took us for tourists who didn't know any better ;) The Miami Spice entree portion was a tad small, but overall excellent flavors and fresh food - the salmon was delicious with crispy skin over a corn puree. I can't remember the last time I had salmon that good! The appetizer was a more generous portion of two good-sized meatballs with bread. Also very delicious. Excellent food and service. So why the three? Business practices. I brought my family of four to this restaurant for our last night in Miami after reading a number of good reviews. As I said, the food and service is excellent. For the main course, my wife and I were going to order the Branzino and pasta and share. The waiter had also recommended the same thing. When the bill came, instead of the $55 for the Branzino, the charge was $120. Apparently, we were given the Branzino that was off menu, without our knowing. After all, we've never been here before, so how would we know there was an off menu option? When I asked about the up charge, it was explained to me that I ordered the OTHER Branzino that I was not aware existed. In fact, it's not even on the menu (look it up). When the bill comes, there's a 20% tip that's added, which is not an issue. What is an issue is that they ask for an additional tip of 3%, 5%, or 7% while the waiter is standing over you watching what you're doing. If this sounds like the experience that you were looking for, this restaurant is highly recommended. read more

While in South Beach waiting to see the iconic buildings light up, we came to this restaurant.for some appetizers and drinks. Although it was Saturday afternoon, we were greeted at the entrance and seated promptly by a friendly hostess. We were seated outside near the walkway and were able to people watch. It is fun to watch the thousands of people walk around in their vacation costumes, trying to imitate 1950's Cubans. I ordered a negroni and my wife ordered a watermelon martini. Both drinks arrived and were absolutely fabulous. We ordered the bruschetta as our appetizer. The bruschetta arrived and was excellent taste. Our friend ordered octopus and oysters (I do not like those items and did not partake in that). He said they were pretty good. (I'll take his word for it). This restaurant is in a tourist trap area and is pretty expensive. One thing to be away of in this restaurant is that they automatically add a 20% gratuity. Located in the best part of Hispañola Way. Nice ambiance and always happy people. The service here is very friendly and attentive. NOTE: If you want to have a calmed dinner it is probably better to eat in the inside dining area. This restaurant is very seafood forward so we always try to eat from their specialty dishes. This occasion we had Octopus carpaccio (Delicious), the spaghetti vongole and the paccheri seafood special (if they have it "order it.") It is simply delicious ... the sauce is divine. We sat inside as Miami summers can be really warm and the decor was really great. Our server was friendly and attentive despite it being a large table. To start with, I tried the calamari and eggplant Parmesan. The flavors were not point but the eggplant was a bit soggy and falling apart. I had a glass of Prosecco and it was crisp and delicious. For the main entree I ordered the Cacio e Pepe where the come with the parm wheel. I will say while it was a good portion and good flavor, it did lack pepper which is the base of the dish. I also ordered a side of broccolini which was fresh and tasty. The bread they bring to the table was also warm, fresh and delicious. Stopped in for dinner the night before our cruise with friends who have been here a few times and raved about the food, service and atmosphere. We were greeted by a really funny and friendly guy who sat us. The server was real friendly as well and super helpful with the menu. We had the truffle mushroom risotto and the wife had the Cacio e pepe alla ruota and both were AMAZING. The risotto had tons of mushrooms and fresh truffle taste. The Cacio e Pepe was perfect. First time eating in here a few days ago. A friend had recommended this spot, so I decided to swing by. The man at the front (I think he was the manager) was extremely nice and got us sat right away. The server wasn't the best, she forgot to tell us some of the daily specials, didn't check on us as often and was overall just unpleasant the whole time. We ordered the octopus, truffle linguini with mushrooms and steak. Everything was actually really good, especially the pasta! We were pretty full but the server insisted in us getting their pistachio dessert, since she said it was their best dessert we decided to order it. Unfortunately, we did not like this dessert. It was extremely sweet, and not balanced. We proceed to tell her that we don't like it, and instead of maybe taking it off the bill or offering something else she proceeds to tell us that that's "really weird because everyone loves it, and we are the first people to ever say that it's too sweet. She's never heard anything like that before". She then proceeds to bring the check. The nice guy that sat us at the beginning, comes by our table and asks how everything was and we say that Every thing was great minus the dessert (it was still on the table and we had taken one bite out of it because it was not good). He sees this and "says oh my apologies, let me get that off your bill". The server then comes around again with a new bill and tells us "the man over there paid for your dessert"??? I'm pretty sure he just compd it, that was a really weird of wording it.. but anyways. Good food, good ambiance, great service from the man at the front, not so much from the server. read more

The clams were the tiniest clams I've ever seen and the mussels were not fresh at all, I refused to eat it. I only ate the lobster and what a waste of money! I've been coming to Miami for 20 years and I never get caught in the tourist food trap, but my date insisted they had good reviews! Came here on a vacation with a large group of friends. Reservations were made online, but our party was quite large so we ended up calling to make arrangements. I would say the staff accommodated us well, but would recommend calling to ensure you have a table reserved. Our waiter, Luca, was good to us. He took all our orders and got us our food quickly. He even gave us a shot of tequila on the house! A couple items we ordered were the two specials of the day, which was the seafood linguine and a seafood risotto. We also ordered the fried calamari appetizer and grilled octopus. To drink, I had an Italian mule and an espresso martini to end the night. I really appreciated how the linguine was made in house. The noodles were perfectly chewy and the risotto was not too salty or undercooked. The portion sizes for these were HUGE! So although pricey, it was definitely worth it. I didn't feel like I was getting skimped on the seafood which was one of the fears I had. There was so much food, we ended up taking home leftovers. The aioli that comes with the calamari is so good! There's a bit of a kick to it, but it paired very well with the breading on the squid. This was gone in seconds. The octopus appetizer was tender and not rubbery at all. Trust me when I say to just order it. Though not pictured, the octopus was the best appetizer I tried. Overall, great place to dine if on vacation and I really appreciated how they were able to accommodate such a large group. read more

Claudio and his team made wonderful suggestions as we were uncertain what to eat and boy was I glad they did since my wife and I are difficult to make a selection. The one thing I wish was that they had more white creamy sauce type pastas with truffle. I ordered the seafood pasta with a side lobster. We had our anniversary dinner here tonight and I would HIGHLY recommend this place for a beautiful dinner. Antonio, our server, was polite, prompt, and quite handsome. He knew the menu and ensured there was never anything empty on our table. We had the bruschetta and the grilled octopus as appetizers. I've never in my life had octopus that good and likely never will again unless I return here. My partner had the parmigiana de pollo which was simply perfect. The pasta was clearly homemade and the sauce was delicious. I had the special which was lobster risotto...chefs kiss. Risotto had a bite to it and the lobster was buttery and perfectly cooked. The decor in this restaurant was intriguing without being distracting and the music was the perfect volume. First place I've been on this trip to Miami Beach that I truly feel deserves 5 stars! Pedro was a gracious and patient host for us tonight and provided excellent service throughout our meal. The restaurant is definitely upscale, but also has a laid back vibe that was welcoming. We were seated outside, which I was initially skeptical about, but it actually was very nice once the sun was down and the breeze came through. I ordered the branzino, which Pedro told me was the best fish on the menu, and it was superb. The fish was tender and flaky on top with crispy, crunchy skin on the bottom. No fishy-ness whatsoever! It was served with some sort of sautéed tomato mixture that complimented the fish very nicely with its freshness and acidity and on the side was a marinated arugula salad. For dessert, I had the chocolate ravioli which was just the sweet touch I needed! They came table side to top the ravioli with freshly shaved white chocolate, which was a very nice tough. However, another member of our party ordered the tiramisu that they prepared entirely table side. It was so lovely to watch the prep process that it made me sad I didn't get it, honestly! This place was absolutely awful. While the hostess was great and not pushy like the neighboring establishments. It all went downhill from the moment we were seated. Our server was impatient and not truthful in describing the food. He said the lobster was very fresh in the lobster linguine it was tough and the noodles were dry and flavorless. For $45 a plate I expected more. No bread was offered, he never checked in to see how our meal was and didn't say a word when it was barely touched. A 20% service charge was added to the $120 bill to top it off. We ended up walking down the street and ordered a pizza to go at "La Leggenda" for $20 and it was amazing!! read more
