Wonderful place and sooo glad I got to try. Came in with a group of five and had a reservation for a Tuesday night. They weren't too busy and the outdoor seating looked nice. We were sat inside near the bar/kitchen area. The restaurant overall had a very quaint vibe, close seating and bright vibrant decor. Yellow was a primary color through most of the decor. I really loved the tree aesthetic that looked like an old tree that was growing from the corners of the rooms up the wall and across the ceiling. I wasn't able to catch our server's name however they were very well knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. We decided to do several apps versus getting individual meals as this restaurants theme is to have shareable plates. So many dishes, got the French and Turkish oven pita. Both were good and had different highlights. Loved the gold scissors provided to cut strips for sharing. Classic hummus which had to have been the smoothest hummus I've ever had. Zucchini Latkes were one of my favorite along with the Cauliflower. The seasoning on this was amazing, a bit sweet, and crispy outside. Crispy artichoke I could have done without. It was kinda like eating rice paper, odd texture. Had to try the baklava for dessert along with the pistachio cheesecake and the vanilla, mango and Nutella gelato. Nutella was my favorite. Went here a couple of weeks ago because one of my visiting friends staying on Collins, wanted Mediterranean food for her birthday. We arrived about 9pm on a Friday night and were seated immediately. It was a perfect April evening in So Flo. The decor is modern and trendy. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. We ordered our food and were told that the food comes out as its ready. So basically, don't expect order...lol. It worked out fine though, gratefully. We had the Humnus (tasty and fresh but a bit too creamy for two out of the three us at the tabel) with Laffa (served hot, it was yummy), Morrocan Cigars (yummy and good for at least two people), the Chicken Shawarma (which is dark meat and is seasoned perfectly) with grilled veggies (that tasted just a little bit too smoky), and the Harissa Honey Salmon with Greek Lemon Potatoes (they were super lemony but thats been par for the course at all of the Greek places I've ever been to). The food was pretty good, my husband and I don't eat this type of food often but we wanted to try something outside of our comfort zone and it did not disappoint! Since we're unfamiliar with this food it was difficult for us to choose (I'm a food picture girly, that's a heavy influence in my selection ) so unfortunately we did not have that but happy with our selection and our waiter recommended the crispy artichoke. This was a last-minute choice that ended up being pretty decent. The place was pretty busy when we got there and the hostess was extremely friendly and sad us right away. The ambience was typical Miami very busy. We did get quite a few dishes starting off with the baba ghanoush which was a 5/5 excellent. Came for the $5 Happy Hour here and I will say that for the price you're paying it's very much worth it, considering you get to try a lot and really get your moneys worth, everything on the menu is $5 which is really nice. Now the food was pretty good, a few skips and some that didn't really wow me, but now to highlight what was really good, The marmalade with the Jaffa bread was absolutely amazing, so much so that after our happy our portion of it we decided to get the full sized plate! The chicken lollipops were delicious and had a nice marinade and sauce on them, nice and crispy as well. The salmon skewers weren't really all that impressive and mine was a little overcooked. The service was a mess to be completely honest. The server often forgot what we ordered and had to have another server come take our order because he was "confused with what we ordered" apparently even though he read it back to us.. drinks took very long to come out and server rarely checked in with us. Stumbled upon this place while on my daily morning walk. I saw the $5 happy hour menu and knew I had to check it out. Happy Hour was between 4-6pm, so I arrived around 4:30 because I didn't know how packed it got. When I got there I went straight to the bar, there was only 2 people at the bar but it got pretty full pretty fast, with people waiting because you only can access the happy hour at the bar. 1 star for the decor and 1 for the service. Our server was kind and friendly, and appeared somewhat knowledgeable about the food. Everything else was a sour disappointment. First, as a walk-in party of three, there is no reason to ask for my phone number. The host justified it is "for data" which just screams spam calls and annoying texts at best, and possible more sinister things at worst, especially nowadays. Second, the food had no redeeming qualities. We tried four menu items and none met the expectations set by the price range. We ordered the halloumi and dates to start. This was pretty much just halloumi, there were no dates. But it was still too sweet. We ordered the cabbage salad. While fresh, it was lacking flavor. No tang, no sourness, not even salt for the dressing. I could chop up cabbage at home for about 50 cents, and at least there I have a little lemon juice to add. We ordered the Turkish Pita, which is supposed to be made with prime beef. This was the biggest disappointment of all. The "beef" was gamey, like lamb or goat meat. I've never experienced gamey beef before, so it was shocking they either replaced the ingredient or mishandled the meat. The bread was fresh but somehow chewy, like if guar was added to the dough. Finally, the zucchini cakes were a far from the "crispy" potato zucchini latkes the menu described. The patties were soggy on the inside and overcooked on the outside. They were also under-seasoned, so rancid frying oil used really came through. The sauces were no complement to these soggy patties. As for the ambiance, the exterior is pretty but inside, you might be sat in a cramped corner, with your seat pushed all the way in and still protruding in the way of the kitchen entrance. Very uncomfortable to have staff squeeze behind you all through your dinner. I would not recommend this place. There is a lot nicer and more authentic middle eastern food in Miami generally, so it's easy to get something better. read more

I was so excited to come to Motek as I missed it the last time I was in NYC and wanted try the new one. I was on a mission - to end a debate with my brother on the greatest schnitzel sandwich in America. My brother was squarely on team motek while my first bite into Abbale's schnitzel is a moment I wish i could relive! Service can trip up even the best food, and the kitchen and bar let us down here. Food was good but it wasn't served cohesively; one of the appetizers came out 15 minutes later than the rest. Worse, one of our party was left with no meal for the entire time it took the rest of us to dine. The drink they were bringing as an apology didn't arrive until we were leaving, either. Food is delicious, so hope for a slower night and maybe the kitchen and bar will keep pace. Highlights include chicken kebob, pastrami, lamb, salmon, and of course bread or pita or lavash or whatever you want to call it. I was pleasantly surprised with the bites and honestly amazing for the price. The hummus, heavenly and the salmon skewer delicious. The pita bread that comes with the hummus literally melts in your mouth. I tried their belly dancer mocktail and it was really nice but that one was at regular price. What we loved was that there were TONS of options for vegetarians that it was impossible not to be full. We split so many items that I even forgot all of them. Motel team, what an outstanding lunch! Truly some of the best Eastern Mediterranean food that I've had to date. The Miami Beach location is located street corner side, yet creates an intimate but airy setting with lots of natural light. Pro tip, ask for that extra pita :) The crispy eggplant was a tasty, unique appetizer off the bat, delivering a crispy but not heavy exterior and melt in your mouth, delicate eggplant inside. The hummus--what a memorable bite! Silky smooth with exceptionally cooked, tender eggplant and bright, briney pickled onions for an added pop. The pita, enough said. Best I've eaten in Miami to date. My friends and I were excited to have a feast at Motek. We had heard good things and share a love for Mediterranean food. When we got there, the hostess was a little rude to us when she didn't see our name under the list of reservations. We showed her the confirmation email on our end and didn't have any issues getting a table but the initial interaction was a little unkind. We ordered a variety of dishes, including their hummus, tzatziki, cabbage & summer salads, falafel, and chicken special! The spreads were so fresh. The salads were also delicious. The summer salad is basically just watermelon with cheese, but the cabbage salad had a perfect combination of sweet, crunchy, and creamy. I could have ordered two more orders of the salads. The star of the meal was the chicken special. The meat was extremely tender and the side of toum allowed us to really indulge. The falafel wasn't bad, but it was the most basic or typical dish. Interestingly, the location we went to doesn't serve any alcohol. The food was worth it, but the service was pretty mediocre. We had to ask out waiter for almost everything, including water, water refills, the dessert menu, and check. We noticed he didn't check in on us as often as the other tables. We had to wait about 15 minutes after our plates were cleared for him to come by with the check. His tone was bitter and pretty passive aggressive unfortunately too :(. read more

Upon arrival, we were asked if we had reservations and when responded with a no, we were told they may have something available in the back, after a minute or so we're told to come in, we were seated in a completely empty space that had a large party table and about five smaller tables around. The decor was absolutely great. We were met with our server and went over the menu and proceeded to order. We ordered the Classic Hummus, lamb shawarma, harissa honey salmon, majadra rice and lentils, za'atr fries and fresh juices including orange juice and a hibiscus pomegranate lemonade. Met some friends for brunch at this adorable south beach spot. We just visited Motek - Aventura so was familiar with the menu. Had an OK experience here overall . Service was friendly but they ran out of a ton of items including any type of pita and all other bread besides the challah (and the challah wasn't great ). The restaurant redeemed itself somewhat with the warm cesar salad, cauliflower and this marmalade dip - all really excellent. The shakshuka we had was pretty great too but again, the challah that accompanied it was not great. Overall, still solidly good . My sea bass entree included perfectly cooked fish and a hearty sauce, but was a tad too spicy (coming from someone who loves spice).
