This was my first time coming here and I was not sure what to think, My friend Chad was texting me and said Beth get the Lemon Chicken it is amazing. The place is very inviting our waitress was attentive and very cool, her vibe had me at hello. I ordered a Cucumber Lavender drink that was as refreshing as a cool breeze on a hot day. I ordered the Lemon Chicken. It was beyond fabulous. The chicken pieces were plentiful and came with a small salad that had a dressing that complimented the chicken. There were many things on the lunch menu but after trying the chicken I know I am hooked. I took a huge piece home and it heated up beautifully. I am a little piggy and have no trouble finishing my meal but this portion was absolutely way to much to finish. I watched the staff delivering many beautiful dishes to other tables. The visual of a good meal counts for me and when it tastes even better than it looks I am in heaven. We sat inside it was a Lovely Thursday July 31st at 3pm. The view of the falls from an indoor window seat was lovely, The temperature of the dining room was very comfortable. The dining room was sparkly clean. This place is a must try. I did see someone nibbling on deviled eggs and thick crispy bacon. It looked yummy. They have an amazing bar with a gazillion options. I can't wait to go back. Great view from almost any table. Service is always consistent. Food can be inconsistent, however. Had dinner there this week with my husband. I had the burger and he had the salmon. French fries were gross. Tasted like they had been fried in old over used grease and there were puddles of grease on the plate under the french fries. The little bucket of ketchup they brought to the table with it, looked like it had been sitting out for a while. Definitely did not look freshly poured. Was visiting Chagrin Falls with friends and stumbled upon this amazing restaurant overlooking the river and falls. We took a chance and were able to get a seat on their patio. We had such a good time. The setting is pefect, the food was spectacular and the staff were pleasant and attentive. Being from the coast, I was sure to endulge in the fresh water fish. I ordered the special, which was walleye in beurre blanc. I am still dreaming about it to this day. My friends and I had a lovely time reconnecting on a beautiful summer day while we sipped our cold cocktails, ate delicious food and watched the river. I can't say enough about the staff. Stopped in today for lunch on our first ever visit to chagrin Falls. This is really a spectacular restaurant! Unfortunately, we're not able to sit by a window to see the falls as they were booked fairly solid for that so we opted to sit at the bar. We opened with, their signature, Manhattan and a glass of wine. We decided to split their lemon Parmesan chicken with an arugula salad. Absolutely delicious! Merce the highlight though was the homemade biscuits served piping hot and a black cast-iron skillet. Service at the bar was spectacular as it well should be. It was kind of funny, we went to chagrin Falls for a street performer day, I don't really know what it was classified as, festival? We are getting ready to leave. We picked up a couple scents and followed them to try to find good food. From across the river, we had spotted 17 river Grill and I had mentioned going there earlier or at least at some point, maybe not that day but another day. We ended up going in it while we did not ship on the river we sat at the bar and, Bonnie enjoyed a couple sangrias while we got sushi and asparagus. The food was very good, the service was fantastic, the camaraderie amongst the bartenders and waitresses was pleasant to see. Our bartender had made the sangria and it was quite good. Restaurant is very clean, Very comfortable, and very well lit. I'd be interested in seeing it at night, especially if sitting along the river. I would definitely like to go again the next time I'm in Chagrin Falls. read more

I would say Dawn my server was super, but the rest of the experience not so great. I loved this place a couple years ago, but today disappointed for sure minus the view of course. I ordered the deviled eggs and the Big River Ranch sushi roll. I have had sushi here before and was delicious, todays was rather gross. The rice was very odd tasting, it was smashed. Sushi rice should be soft and fluffy around the roll not like this. I sent sushi back and got French onion soup. I didn't take a picture but the cheese was burnt and there was so much bread. I had heard of 17 River Grille, but my fiancé and I weren't prepared by how awesome this spot is, not to mention the beauty of the setting against the river and fall foliage. The bang-bang shrimp was delicious, and surprisingly as more courses arrived, I was impressed more so each time. The French onion soup was rich and flavorful, the cocktails creative (and flowing), and the smash burger may have very well been the best I've ever had. Had brunch here yesterday with my friend from college. It was probably my third or fourth time here and it never disappoints. We split a bottle of rose, the 17 Benedict which we ordered medium rare but it came out a little more medium (which was fine). The only thing that wasn't ideal was the eggs were very overdone so we didn't get to enjoy any yolk. Flavors were still delicious. We also couldn't pass up the world famous biscuits - they really are to die for, so do yourselves a favor and order them no matter what! We finished with the granola and berries for a little something sweet which was delicious. Our server was wonderful - he was attentive and helpful. The manager came over to offer his appreciation for us dining with them which was a nice touch. I will be back! This is a great brunch spot with beautiful views of the falls and nice ambiance. I had the absolute worst experience at this restaurant. I requested my waiter check for me if a certain item had an allergen. First, he switches the lunch menus that were out for dinner menus. It was 3:43PM. Then I was talking to my mother and he went absolutely nuts on us. Said we cannot talk to him like this (we had said absolutely nothing to him), took away our menus and said he would not serve us, and kicked me and my elderly mother out of the restaurant. He followed us out, bullied us, and threatened to call the cops. It was the most insane restaurant experience of my life. And this guy claims to be the manager. Beautiful modern restaurant. I ordered the Lemon Chicken Parm, and it was just the right amount of lemon. My friend ordered the Filet, medium. It came out more like medium well. The manager took care of it. Did not remove her plate, instead he told her to continue eating. This was a pro move since the replacement filet takes at least 20 minutes, and he didn't want her to sit there and just watch us eat. The replacement Filet was cooked properly, and of course, was no charge. My only complaint is, everyone's coats keep falling off of their leather chairs. Maybe add a coat check? read more

If you sit outside you will be able to enjoy a good view with food, but the downside is that the water is loud and sometimes you can't hear people talking in your group lol. It is nice to sit outside though. We came here on a Tuesday night with a party of 5 people. We arrived around 6:20pm and we didn't have to wait to get a table. Wine is 50% off on Tuesday! We order 2 bottles of Krug for $52 and it was well spent. We ordered 4 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 2 desserts. If you are not that hungry, you can actually order their appetizers and get full. For appetizers we had fish of the day (snapper), salmon, and pork chop. The salmon was delicious and it was presented on a wood to give you the smoky flavour. The fries that came with the fish were kind of dry. Daily fish was good too and it came with brussels sprouts. For dessert we got key lime pie and apple crisp. This beautiful setting on the Chagrin River proved an excellent choice for us today. Its oak floors and tea towel napkins were the perfect setting along with wonderful attentive service. I ordered the Caesar salad, though sadly not as delicious as that of the Reserve next door, suited us especially since it was open at the time we arrived. Even the water glasses were turned out gorgeously, resembling Ball jars. They were voluminous. I also ordered the warm biscuits with a delectable light and fluffy compound whipped butter with honey. Perfect in almost every way. Sadly the Caesar salad could have been improved had it incorporated white anchovies. There was only one thing better than the gorgeous view of the falls experienced by us at 17 River Grill on Saturday, the combined effort of the culinary, service, and management team!! Our server Tyler, while fairly new to the industry, was not new to exceeding guests expectations. He could listen well enough to take our conversation to a deeper level to ensure that my 91-year-old mother was going to have an Amazing experience. Every possible detail that might be dropped in other restaurants was attended to in a casual, yet highly professional fashion. He was paying attention to the details that separate mundane from world-class service. Our special orders were seen to, beverages were never lacking, and he engaged other team members such as General Manager Samantha to make us feel as valued guests in their establishment. The grilled artichokes were beyond reproach, both in proper cooking techniques and flavoring/seasoning. The multi-grain bread served with the outstanding hummus was addicting to say the least. Each piece was properly anointed with oil, grilled to perfection, and the artisanal quality spoke volumes of the bakers abilities. The oak planked salmon was cooked to perfection as were the roasted root vegetables. The surprisingly refreshing presence of mint in the kale salad pushed what could have been a run-of-the-mill salad in other establishments over the top. The dressing was well balanced and added just the right sweet/vinegar balance to accentuate the perfectly cooked and shredded chicken. Hats off to the often over looked culinary team. The flow depicted by them during the mad rush was impressive. Just the right amount of communication at just the right time to get the job done. The efficiency and "kitchen dance" was beautiful. We had an A-OK brunch at 17 River Grille! Located in downtown Chagrin Falls, 17 River Grille is primarily known for its great view of the Chagrin Water Falls. This space has been a number of restaurants over the years so you may have known it in one of its former lives. I was here on a date and the vibes were definitely on-point! We had a table by the window and it gave a great view of the falls. We were able to pre-book a reservation online, which is always appreciated! Our server was very friendly and attentive. The inside is big and spacious and has a more modern vibe than expected. For brunch, I had the eggs benedict. It was again, just A-OK! It didn't have a ton of flavor (but I didn't have the heart to say anything and make my date think he chose a bad place). It could have used more hollandaise (why does no restaurant ever put enough on?) but had a wonderful presentation and was a generous portion. The real star are the brunch cocktails. I loved the strawberry mimosa! I always love when a restaurant has great brunch cocktails. Overall, a solid place for brunch. read more

This is the kind of place that you go for the atmosphere. If you can request a seat overlooking the river, you will enjoy it. We went for brunch when the weather was perfect and enjoyed listening to the waterfall. The biscuits are a must, they were so delicious. Soft and light with the perfect crunchy exterior that is slightly, but not overly sweet. The butter overtop isn't even needed. 4 stars for the setting and 3 stars for the food. The eggs Benedict was begging for flavor but they have one of my favorite hot sauces near the salt and pepper, crystal so with that and the pepper it was fine. The hollandaise was thin & bland. The steak was okay. My husband got the French toast which he enjoyed. The potatoes that come with the Benedict and that my husband chose as a side were just okay. Could've been cooked a little crispier but I can take it home and doctor it up ;). I ordered a spicy Bloody Mary that the waiter forgot about so I can't live to tell about this time but service overall was great! I like that he gave honest opinions about the dishes. Check this place out next time you go to chagrin falls if you are wanting a beautiful view, just don't get your hopes up if you want a meal that makes you want to keep coming back. Ambiance was off the charts! We started with the firecracker shrimp which was tasty and a perfect light appetizer when split between the four of us. All of our entrees (the 17 burger, veggie burger, and rainbow trout) were simply delectable. I split the 17 burger, which was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. This was a wonderful outdoor dining experience on their front patio. We arrived around 4:40 on a Thursday because we knew it would get crowded for outdoor seating. It was nice to get there early because the live music (a guy playing a guitar with a loud amp) started around 5:30, and it was loud enough that you had to shout to talk. I had a Paloma to drink, which was really nice and tart, and I ordered the lemon Parmesan chicken, which the waitress said was a popular dish. It was breaded chicken with pieces of fresh Parmesan, topped with a bed of arugula salad with light dressing. The portion size was generous, and I was able to bring one of the two pieces of chicken home for leftovers the next day. All plates were served warm and each were delicious. 2 of us ordered the Sourdough French Toast fresh berries, mascarpone whipped cream, and slices of thick bacon; one had the Smoked Salmon Over Scrambled Eggs thomas keller styled scrambled eggs, créme fraîche, caper berries ; and, the last diner had the 17 Benedict petite tenderloin, poached eggs, english muffin, hollandaise sauce, home fries, mixed greens. PLUS we all shared the House-baked Fresh CinnaRolls freshly baked from scratch with warm cream cheese icing! My only drawback was the limited breakfast dishes. Couldn't go off the brunch menu for an ala cart breakfast order.
