Brunch review! Brunchtacular. Brunchable. So brunchy? So I'm a little late to the party for 1815, admittedly because I find Mad Jacks to be a fine establishment but not much above that, unless it's a nice day you are trying to get your patio on. So in that regard, 1815 seems to be about the same, a fine establishment with a nice patio for our warmer days. I can thankfully add the brunch was exactly what we needed and was very good. Inside the atmosphere feels like old Aurora. Low ceilings, wood floors, white walls. The bar area was much the same, with ample seating at tables and at the bar. The place continually filled up noon on and was quite full by the time we left. We started out with, of course, 2 Bloody Marys. I fancy myself a Bloody Mary expert, and 1815 missed the mark here. $8 Bloody Mary with a small amount of vodka, no Worcestershire sauce, and no blue cheese olives despite the menu offering promise of the last item. They were acceptable, obviously, since we have 2 each but these do not stand out. The food on the other hand was a pleasant surprise. I can't speak for the standard menu but the brunch menu was diverse and eclectic, ranging from breakfast pizza to pastrami and eggs. Staying true to form, I got the pastrami and poached eggs, wife went with eggs Benedict. Poached eggs were poached about seconds too long but still had some runny yoke. The portion size was perfect. Only downside is that it took a while to get the food out of the kitchen, but I guess that's why they serve Bloody Marys. read more

Fantastic brussel sprouts! A flavor that reminds me of Carmel and the sprouts are cut in pieces so the flavor is throughout. The beef stroganouf was amazing. I felt like there was a hint of hint cinnamon in the dish, but apparently not. The mushrooms were meaty and succulent. My partner had the trout. He loved it. He peeled the skin but felt like he should be eating it since it was so good. Our waiter, Taylor, was a total sweetheart. JB was the chef who talked to us. I highly recommend this restaurant. I have to admit I'm not madly in love with this restaurant. I really wish I was because I literally live a few miles away & would be here all the time. The historical splendor of the building itself notwithstanding, the food is just adequate in my opinion. We've been here a few times and it's been satisfactory & pleasant but with all the fanfare I had heard and read about....it just wasn't everything I expected. It's still a very nice place, especially for a date night & the ambiance is exceptional. The staff is attentive and the food is prepared using quality ingredients. Food and drink was good as always. Staff was always smiling and friendly. However, it felt like they were extremely understaffed. Took 20 minutes to get a drink from the bar. One person in our party was wanting to order dessert and another drink, but the server seemed so rushed and always skipped him and they we're hurrying by. Outdoor dining seemed like a great idea in September, but there were so many bugs. Someone in our group actually had to go ask for another glass of wine when bugs landed in his. Would strongly encourage the owners to look into a bug spray for the property with their landscaper. We spent our entire dinner swatting away bugs. read more

What a great a new addition to Aurora! The food was superb, sophisticated, and up there with the latest food trends. The restaurant itself is a refurbished home, and a historical relic. I'd recommend the crispy shrimp tempura, and scallops for starters, and the fall-off-the-bone pork shank for the entree. They have a cool bar area, great drink selections, and unique cocktails. I love 1815 Tavern. It's a favorite "go to" for me. Awesome outdoor seating. Great diverse menu. Restaurant permits corkage. Never liked bread pudding until I had it made the 1815 Tavern way! Omg! Not once have I had a meal that I didn't enjoy, and I'm a foodie. Cozy bar area with TVs if you are a sports nut, but it's not a sports bar. P Great job John and his staff. read more

Don't believe the negative food reviews. This place is delicious. You CANNOT go wrong with an app-- Brussels ans tacos are my favorites. The pizza is fantastic. Cooked to perfection. Their salads are 100%! I've tried them all, you can't go wrong. The dishes are inventive and yummy. I love trying their specials, too. Wait Staff is pretty young, but well trained and polite. Eating outside on a warm summer night is perfect. Staff is on top of your water and needs, but the food is amazing. The cheese polenta with pork butt is a perfect size. Flavorful and filling. Not as great as I wanted it to be but still enjoyable for a casual evening out with friends. THe interior is cozy and comfy and almost feels like you're sitting in a friends house. Drinks were good, I had a dirty martini. Started off with meatballs and Brussel sprouts for apps. Meatballs were bland to me but the sprouts were tasty. I had the ravioli for dinner- this was good but served as a single large ravioli. Regardless it was tasty. The other diner had the halibut special which was also good but slightly overdone. In town on business and one of my managers took me here - he visits quite often and now I know why. Great farm-to-table food in a great setting. Service was wonderful and the food was perfect. I had the stroganoff with brisket - it hit the spot; touch of creaminess with spaetzle. Tavern salad had a shallot vinaigrette over some tender greens. I'm flabbergasted that this place averages 3.5 stars. We've been here a half dozen times and every single time we've had an outstanding experience. From the service which is always so pleasant an more than efficient to the incredibly eclectic, fresh and ever changing menu. We always get a margarita pizza no matter what else we order and it's perfect with the delicate thinner fresh crust slightly sweet sauce fresh basil and mozzarella. Every salad we've ordered has been really yummy, this last visit we had the black bean corn butter lettuce and it was simple but delicious. The chili was absurdly good. Smokey and spicy but not over the top it was to die for, so good we got a second bowl. Lastly we had the tavern burger medium rare and it was perfection. With the beautiful pickles and braised onions as toppers the flavor was terrific. We had the white bean appetizer with flatbread, third time we've had this, and it never disappoints. We'll keep coming back every single time on our way to Aurora farms. If they were closer to us we'd be here weekly. read more

Stopped in for a quick dinner with my wife and daughter. We sat outside and enjoyed the spacious, tent covered patio. The service was decent but the food was only okay and expensive. I paid $92.00 plus tip for a bowl of pasta, a veggie burger, a Tavern burger, two domestic beers and four glasses of wine. The fries that came with my burger were awful. They were stale, cold, over seasoned and cooked in truffle oil. Suggestion to 1815 Tavern. Ditch the "gourmet" fries and serve regular fries. This visit was my 3rd and last due to the cost and the bland food. There are several other taverns in Aurora that serve better food and for much less. read more
