Service 5/5: our server was amazing, very attentive, always had her glasses filled, and made sure that we were taken care of. Food 4.5/5: or the salmon bagel, which was fantastic! There was a great amount of creamer, and the fish was so fresh and not that weird fishy smell to it. The greens complemented and balanced out the fattiness of the salmon. We also got their brunch burger, which we ordered at medium rare. It's probably the first place I've ever served me an actual medium rare burger cooked correctly! The egg was nice and runny the bun was seasoned. I could've gone without the croissant bun. I think it got soggy and the flavor didn't quite fit. I was expecting a more buttery, flaky croissant rather I got a more sweet dough croissant. Otherwise, the other components were put together very well. The french fries are also cooked perfectly. Highly recommend. Then we ended the meal off with macadamia pancakes. The pancakes themselves were kind of flat but surprisingly very moist and very yummy. I wasn't expecting them to be moist because I have flat they were, but it was very good. The macadamia and the fruit combo on top was delicious. The passionfruit syrup was tangy and sour. I've been for brunch and it's incredible! The poached eggs bourguignon is OUT OF THIS WORLD! I was very excited to go for dinner because I love the Edison (sister restaurant) and it's the same chef. However, dinner was a huge disappointment for me. We got the half portion of the autumn squash smoked ricotta ravioli ($21) as an "appetizer." The crab was slightly overcooked but the flavors worked very well together. I really enjoyed it while my boyfriend thought it was good but not great. Then I got the yellowfin tuna au poivre ($42) - the fish is cold which threw me off but it has to be because it's raw in the middle - it was pretty good. The maitake mushroom lardon boulangere on the dish was my favorite part to be honest, it was delicious and paired well with the fish. I absolutely hated the asparagus, they were so big and stalky without flavor - I wish they did regular, thinner asparagus. For our last dish we got the Black Grouper ($45), which was an absolute miss. The flavors just didn't make sense. The rice had Indian flavors and was overpowered by the lentils, but then there was truffle creme (?) which wouldn't pair with Indian.. It was one of the worst grouper dishes I have ever had. It was my boyfriend's dish and he couldn't even finish it. To spend as much money as we did, I wasn't impressed. What I would go back for is brunch and potentially the "Happening Hour" which has a monthly rotating menu with $10 app dishes that look delicious. read more

Try the shaksuka!! I could tell this dish was crafted with love. It was so good and I even got gluten free bread to go with it. I felt so loved and not like a nuisance. WOW this place is a hidden gem. Everything I and my girlfriends had for breakfast was delicious. We started with the carrot pressed juice. It was so refreshing and tangy. I highly recommend getting this to drink for the main course. I got the classic Benedict and it was perfect. The egg was cooked to perfection. My girlfriends also got the eggs Benedict. They enjoyed it however they had theirs with grits. I would say that the grits were the best grits I have ever had. A horrible after work experience. Ariel our server was in point as usual, friendly and knowledgeable, she deserves all the stars. The food was underwhelming and disappointing. The $15 burger was served cold with stale roll, in both burgers. The greens served in the burger were yellow and tasteless. Shrimps with Potatoes overcooked, and potatoes very bland with minimal to no tomato/bean sauce as explained in the menu. Pistachio butter with the 4 slices of sour dough was bland and flavorless. If this is an example of how dinner menu might be we probably could not be back, especially for price point. read more

I've been to Counter Culture several times for brunch. The restaurant has a lovely modern vibe, delicious food and attentive staff. They have a very nice outdoor seating area with umbrellas and a bar you can sit at. Parking used to be a little difficult depending on the time but there has since been a parking garage built. They now offer valet parking right in front of the restaurant, or you can park in the garage. We used the garage this time and it was super easy! Both are complimentary. The garage is about 200 feet away from the restaurant. For brunch today we ordered the Pecan Morning Bread. We've ordered it many times and it's always delicious! It's a favorite of mine! Please never take it off the menu!!! For breakfast I ordered the Macadamia Nut Pancakes with tropical fruit and passion fruit syrup. My hubby ordered the Classic Eggs Benedict which are served with hash browns. Both were delicious! Our server was Patrik S. (That's what was printed on our bill). Not only is there valet parking, but there is a public garage nearby for free and abundant spots (it was Sunday). Restaurant was very bright, open concept and perfect for a group. We went for Sunday brunch and there was a lot of people. Wait time was not long. Food was just OK. Biscuit and waffle were dry and presentation was kinda bland on some food and not worth the price tag. The menu has lots of fancy words for descriptions so I expected more. Just very pretentious. 5 star experience at Counter Culture for brunch! Somehow I'd never been and was super excited to try it for the first time. Our group of 6 started with the coconut pecan morning bread which came with butter and a fantastic jam. This bread was DELICIOUS, super moist, warm, and you could see all the fabulous coconut strands and pecans throughout. I did not try the avocado tostada but my friends enjoyed it, it was just too small to share with our entire group. I ordered the egg white omelette (baby spinach, burrata, roasted tomatoes, sliced avocado, sourdough toast). It was delicious! Lots of burrata and tomato throughout which gave it good flavor since it was really just egg whites. It also came with a piece of avocado on the side so I made a mini avocado toast with my sourdough. Staff: Friendly but slow. We went around 1pm on a Sunday. Seating: NOT ideal for a group of more than 4. We had a group of 10 and they sat us in front of the door by the hostess stand. As people were checking in at the stand or came by to chat with someone in the front, some people bumped into the back of our chairs. Our waitress had a tough time coming around the corner where we were sitting because there was a plant by the front door as well. The picture I am attaching is a view from our table looking directly at the hostess stand and entrance and exit door. Food: Average at best. Half our table stated that their meals tasted very bland and had little to no flavoring. You are paying for the "ambiance" and location and nothing more. Cleanliness: A few of our chairs had crumbs left in it as we sat down. One of the hostess was obviously sick constantly wiping her nose with the same tissue then putting it back in her pocket. I then later saw her grab glasses to help set a table. If you are sick, I would hope you would stay home or avoid touching food and drink/silverware to avoid passing sickness on to others. This is one of our favorite dines in Tampa and I wish we were able to make it down to South Tampa more often. We decided to have Brunch on Saturday with out of town guests and as we expected the visit did not disappoint! We started off with a few Mimosas and coffee and the coconut pecan bread. Which is really like a cake- but who's complaining- it is soooooo good! Accompanying this delight was whipped butter and a mixed berry preserve- when I say this is amazing bread (imagine a pumpkin bread) I ain't kidding! So so yummy and it arrived warm which only made it better. I ordered the Belgian waffle with maple syrup and candied bacon. The waffle was tasty as was the bacon, my only disappointment is that the bacon is really on the thin side and with a Brunch like this, thick bacon would really fit the bill. Our guests had an order each of the Eggs Benedict, a croissant and sausage between them. All super tasty especially the sausage links. This is the second time my husband and I have come for happy hour. They have happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 PM to 6 PM not only at the bar but the entire restaurant. Their happy hour is absolutely fantastic and changes every month. One of my personal favorites is the burger and bubbles on the Bay, which includes a cheeseburger on rye and either a 12 ounce glass of beer or bubbly. The view is absolutely beautiful, especially if you're sitting at the bar and looking out to the bay. The service is always on point as well. Oh, and if you'd like to host, a private event, their outdoor space at the bar is available for rent. read more

My wife and I come here quite often on the weekends for brunch and have been for dinner once. Every time, it's been a lovely experience. Everyone is very attentive and the drinks are one of the main reasons we keep coming back. However, the brunch menu is so so good too. The morning bread is to die for and I almost always try a different dish each time. All delicious. The cocktails are so fresh and imaginative, it's the best spot to have a really well crafted cocktail, sit at the bar, and look out at the bay and Bayshore. I gave this place another try for brunch instead of dinner, and it was MUCH better. I still would advise against a dinner here unless planning on heavy apps. The brunch service was great. The weather was perfect for patio seating. We enjoyed aperol spritz as our drink to start. We also had the jalapeño biscuits. We split a couple entrees including the macadamia nut pancakes which were PHENOMENAL- symphony of flavors and textures including that macadamia nut crunch. The eggs Benedict was great, as well. The avocado tostada was TINY- I actually laughed out loud when they brought it to me. However, it tasted delicious. This place is a great place to go for brunch in the Tampa Bay Area! You get some great views, great vibes, but also some great food. The unique thing is you can get a set menu brunch meal, which is not something you see often. I started off with the Pork Belly and Brussels Sprouts starter which was delicious. Tender pieces of pork belly, runny egg yolk, and delicious sauce. For the main, it was a seared branzino with fried polenta cake. Loved the use of the citrus and pistachio dressing. Came back this evening for dinner with fond past memories. Unfortunately it didn't hold up. We didn't repeat any dishes to try something new and maybe that was the issue. We had the dates which were amazing! The sourdough which is good but is Pathetically small. Two slices of sourdough cut in half. The artichoke which had far too much stuff on it. And the chittara ragu and the crab ravioli. Ravioli was not my fave. I think it was my taste idk. I wasn't a fan it was much heavier than it read. The ragu on the other hand was amazing but I wish it had a bigger pasta. The service was the main issue of the night it was super slow. And so were they. So there weren't really any excuses. One of my new favorite lunch spots. We decided to celebrate our 9 year wedding anniversary here and I'm glad we did. We came on a Thursday at 1 p.m. (it's super easy to make a reservation online. Originally we had it for 12:30 p.m. but then volunteering at my son's school went long so at 12:15 p.m. I moved it to 1 p.m.) The parking lot is small, so I don't know what happens when it's full. I saw valet that wasn't staffed when we arrived, so my hope is if the lot is full then valet will be running. I got the Three Martini Lunch, which is three martinis that equal 2 full size cocktails. It rotates weekly! I should have taken a picture of the menu, because what's there now is different than what I had. I do remember one of the cocktails was a old fashioned. All three were fun, but if I was to do it again I'd order off the menu. I think two full cocktails at lunch is a little too much for me. I also got their La Completa for my entree, which is a five compartment tray lunch. Everything was delicious. My tray had oxtail, which was very good. I don't remember what the salad was, but I do know that I loved it. The only part that I wasn't a huge fan of was the german chocolate cake, because I'm not a huge sweet lover. I think if it was a different dessert, this will be my go to dish. My husband got the steak frites, which came with onion rings instead of fries and he ate all of it. No complaints there. I really like how open and inviting this space is. It's a good size and doesn't feel pretentious at all. The waiter let us know that they give mini donuts when you're celebrating a special occasion, but we passed since I couldn't even finish the cake. Our server was very nice and attentive. I was invited to Counter Culture for dinner last night with some old friends so I went with the flow to be with them and didn't know much about this restaurant in advance. It's in South Tampa by Bayshore and where parking is notoriously difficult. I looked up the menu online in advance and was not thrilled about the choices and noted they were still on their summer menu despite this being November. The prices also looked a bit high. When I got there they of course had the forced valet parking which I hate. It's an inconvenience and an extra cost when they actually had a decent lot. The restaurant was pretty enough but a bit modern and simple in design so the ambiance wasn't particularly impressive. My cocktail was excellent. I will give some props there. I got the garden party and it was balanced with just enough spice. My friend ordered the sour dough bread snack- strange that you have to pay for 3 slices of sourdough bread. A bit stingy. We also ordered the dates which were very good. Probably the best food item I had there. I ordered the chicken frites and that came out very charred and very salty. I didn't want to complain so I did my best to eat it. When the waiter took the plate he asked how I liked it and I told him it was very salty. He asked if I wanted something else but I did not at that point. I skipped dessert. It's frustrating to spend almost $100 for very little food and not very good food at that. I am disappointed because it yet again in South Tampa feels like posturing as an upscale restaurant but not actually getting the value of an upscale restaurant. I could've made better chicken and sourdough at my home and I'm not a chef. read more

Second time back in and I loved it even more. We came around 6pm on a Sunday night and sat at their beautiful bar looking out onto bayshore. Our bartender was incredibly attentive and charismatic. We ordered the burrata toast and figs to start. Delicious burrata and the figs stuffed with pistachio and goat cheese are easily one of the best things I've EVER eaten. For my entree, I ordered the yellowtail snapper and only wish I had more room in my stomach to eat more! I have no clue why this place wasn't jam packed! This was such a nice change for me and my girlfriend, since she's usually works til 5:30 we can't make it to the happening hour on weekdays. They also brought back the burger and a beer deal for $15 (used to be $10 which just turned it to be TOO good of a deal) but I think it's still a really great deal and fun way to try out different styles of burgers as they change it every month. Super excited for this area (Bayshore Gardens I think it's called?) because of the other restaurants and developments under construction, hoping it brings some well-deserved attention to Counter Culture and becomes a cool area. read more

Visited counter Culture for brunch this Sunday afternoon! Loved the restaurant and ambiance, it was packed for brunch with almost every table full! The food was good but didn't WOW me to the max. The Cracker Benedict came with grits that were very basic. The Benedict itself was very tasty but I felt a little small in portion size. It had tons of bacon but I felt that it needed more of the bread (biscuit) that was the base of the dish. The waffle was super tasty and I would definitely recommend getting this for a sweet treat! The Brioche Noisette Au Chocolate was very underwhelming to me and tasted like toast with chocolate and homemade whip cream. Def would skip this next time.
