If you're like me and stuck in vacation purgatory, tired of being ripped off for lousy resort food, and craving a quintessential gastropub, then look no further! Walked in at 6 pm, was immediately greeted and seated, and had an ice cold beer in less than 5 minutes. It wasn't incredibly busy, but it wasn't slow either. Our server, Nico was outstanding and never missed a step. I even saw him pour my 2nd beer when the bartender was busy rather than wait for her. Cheeseburgers were on special so that's what I had. It was fairly big and cooked right, couldn't really ask for more. The beer list was fairly deep and included a few local options; which is a must in this day and age. First let me say, cute atmosphere and nice servers. However, I never return food but had to send back my burger it was raw inside. Not even rare but raw. Sent it back, server was nice about it came back out about five mins later and it was obvious it was just placed under the salamander because yes the outside was better but guess what still raw inside. If it had any structure and push back I would give them a pass but it didn't. Hubs ordered pork belly sandwich, it was two half slices of thick cut with regular bacon on top. Disappointing would sum it up - I had high hopes. Could be an off day - but I'm not coming back soon to find out - there are way too many options out there that will exceed expectations. read more

I order the apple cider margarita which had pretty presentation, but was pretty awful tasting unfortunately. This dog friendly restaurant has curb seating and provided a cold bowl of water for our corgi. Our server, Christian, was attentive and responsive. The serving sizes are huge. Drove up to East Stroudsburg for the day with my family. Came across Derailed on Yelp and decided to stop in for lunch. The server was very friendly and they were very busily for a Thursday afternoon. Overall the esthetics of the place were great. They had two large garage doors which were open because it was a great warm spring day. They also had a great looking bar in the middle of the place. We started with the Calamari, which was excellent. The breading was light and it came with banana peppers and Marinara. My dad ordered the Lobster Grilled Cheese, unfortunately they didn't get their lobster order (they said they use fresh lobster) and they had sold out already. So he moved to his second choice, the Philly Cheese Steak. He was very pleased with it and loved the Ciabatta role it came on. I had a couple of bites and the sandwich was tasty, but it probably could have used a little more meat on it in my opinion. My Step-mom got the jerk shrimp tacos. She was super happy with them. She particularly loved the salsa that came with it. My wife got the Chicken Coop Salad. She decided to swap the house recommended dressing and went with the Balsamic. She loved the salad. She said it multiple times. She normally picks around the greens and just eats the stuff. She finished the entire thing, which is super rare for her. She raved about this salad. I had the Pastrami Sandwich. I went with it because they indicate that it is house made pastrami. Super happy I did. The sandwich was stacked high with sliced pastrami and came with a good rating cole slaw (typically not a cole slaw fan) and a nice dill havarti cheese. The hand cut fries were awesome! Great experience here while visiting the poconos. It's sometimes hard to find a good vegan option that isn't a beyond burger and my bf raved about his sandwich. Comes with vegan cheddar too which I find to be rare when you're not in a big city. Our waitress was very accommodating, we wanted to know if the reason the pretzel wasn't marked vegan was just because of the dipping sauces but she asked the kitchen for us and they unfortunately use an egg wash. It's okay thought because both our meals were filling and we wanted to save room for ice cream next door :) I got the Caesar salad and added shrimp which is my go to. I liked that they added whole anchovies to the dish. My friends and I were looking for somewhere we could snag a beer on July 3rd, the Monday before the 4th. The only available seating was outside, it was very busy. It didn't look like it affected the wait staff though, there were people buzzing all over the place. It was trivia night we read on the door, so the three of us chose to stay. We let the gal at the front know we would be willing to sit outside, and away we went. After about 10 minutes a server came up and asked us if we were ready to order. The QR code at our table was not able to be pulled up, so we didn't even have a clue what the restaurant offered for food. She got us a different QR code and 2 menus for the three of us to share. I ordered a Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro --- now it's been a while since I've drank in a larger city and not a smaller town. But the price per ounce for that beer was craaaazy, $8 for basically 8oz. I ordered a second one before knowing the price and asked if they had it in a tall, she said no, then i asked how much am i even paying... not realizing i had just been able to buy more than a six pack between the two I had.... in any case. We ordered food. I ordered the pretzel sticks for the table, and they were alright. A pretzel is a pretzel, is a pretzel. You can't reeeeally screw it up, unless you overcook it and make it hard. But that wasn't the case, it was good. My buddy got the derailed wings. He has been a cook in restaurants that have served chicken his whole life, so he is a bit more critical than most. But he said that you could tell they were older - something about the bones being black and what have you. But he wasn't pleased. The gal we were with wanted pork chops, but they were 76'd. Instead she got a chicken sandwich. The grilled chicken was crispy on the edges, which made the inner portions a bit tougher to chew. She did say that the herb aoili was good to dip the fries in. But the fries were soggy. My meal was the Bacon Mac 'n' Cheese burger. After looking at pictures on the website, i figured why not, let's see what it's like. I figured it was going to be juicy and messy and tasty. It wasn't tasty, it was very bland. The only juicy & messy portion coming from the burger was grease. I ordered my burger med-rare, it came out at a nice mid-well if not closer to well done. The mac and cheese was not cheesy, it seemed like it was baked & almost covered in bread crumbs? Whatever the case, it didn't transfer to the plate well. It was greasy, flavorless, and disappointing. The fries on my plate were also cool and soggy. The best part of the meal, was the overpriced beer, the pretzel appetizer, and the trivia. Even on a busy night, we expected to be in and out relatively quickly. Overall a nice time at the derailed taphouse. The location is pretty easy to find and is around a few other small restaurants and businesses. The location itself is pretty small so not really meant for large groups but they accommodate my group pretty well. They do have an outside section which is nice. On some nights (Friday) they have live music. We ordered a variety of apps and entrees and honestly I was more impressed with out apps than the main courses. For apps we got the pretzel, the jam jar, the calamari, and some wings. I really enjoyed the pretzel and jam jar so those two I recommend. For my main meal I got the shrimp tacos and to be honest they were under whelming. It was just a little bit of lettuce, onion, tomato, and cheese layered with two semi seasoned shrimp on a cold tortilla. They were just not filling and had no substance in my opinion. The taste was rather bland and they were decently expensive for what I got. The drinks were good but strong so use that as you want. Traveling. we veered off I-80 and went blindly toward a row of eateries. Settlin on Derailed, I ate my vegan fare and my carnivore husband got an appetizer and large salad. I'm not sure what all he got because I was busy shoveling in my tasty food! This place is the perfect place to be when you want to see the game have a conversation or just have a sunday afternoon! Every town should have a place like this! It's not the place for quick dining but it is the place for good food, good drinks, or good tea, although a big mug would be better. If you're driving along 1-80 and discovered you'd forgotten breakfast and it's 1:30 pm, and you and your partner are neing pricky from hunger, look it up and call in your order. This place was terrific on a Sunday afternoon and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a pint and bar food. The wings are MASSIVE! And cooked flawlessly. I could not believe how meaty they were with all this inflation going on, making everything smaller. The tap selection is great, too, including cider options. As a bourbon drinker, I appreciated the selection though I abstained during this visit. The inside is well appointed and cozy with all the wood, and the location is great just off the highway in the downtown area (I was passing through). I wish they offered more selection for wing sauce. I LOVE good wings. These were great as they came, but they lacked a spicy option. People sensitive to peppers would call these hot but not for someone who craves the heat. Give me a ghost pepper, habanero option and I'll be a life-long customer. read more

Good place with a nice atmosphere! Plenty of outdoor sidewalk tables along with a deck (not a great view) but at least you are outdoors! The interior is warm, full of wood & many TV's. I love that they can open up the front area walls - real nice! We loved the Korean spring rolls, the homemade most delish fries, chicken tenders, wings, cheesesteak, & burger. The zucchini fritters were just OK - too much breading. Service could use some work. They were not familiar with the menu too much, took a little bit of time to get their attention.
