My wife and I are big fans of Rustico near us in Highland Village, and we decided to give 1845 a shot since they are same management team and even some same menu items. It's in Lakeside south Flower Mound and we got there for a 5:00 dinner reservation (really easy to make reservations online through the website). Be aware that if you are going to come in much later than this be prepared to fight for parking spots....LOL....this area gets really busy. When we left around 6:45 there were several people driving around looking for spots on a Friday night. Understandable that it's busy, but just be aware. Three hostesses up front and then immediately into a bar area. As I mentioned before the reservation process was quite simple and they seated us quick. Far corner and back of the restaurant right outside where they have a private room section in a booth that has a non-flattering street view. The theme of this night was just loud and slow-paced. We got there well before the rush but somehow had to wait quite a bit. Ten minutes before someone came to take a drink order or even say hello. Then as we were waiting the place just got jammed and quick, seemed like every table got sat. Our waitress was perhaps newer or unfamiliar with the drink menu as my wife had questions but she had to keep going back and forth to find out answers. I appreciate that she didn't just make things up and got answers, but when you're at this price point for dinner then I'd appreciate a better familiarity. We ordered the Texas Experience because we couldn't decide which appetizer looked best, so we got the one that has almost all of them. Comes with fried jalapeños, poblano meatballs, pork belly and Lockhart fried quail drums. The jalapeños I actually had to double check and make sure they weren't pickles as they just didn't have much kick to them. Poblano meatballs were definitely a hit and we'd order that stand alone. Pork belly is served on Hawaiian bread and for me that's one of my faves. The fried quail drums just a little short on seasoning. I guess perhaps they dial them down because they have several sauces they bring with it such as gravy and a ranch-type dressing. My wife had ordered the Bonnie Parker which she thought was good, and I ordered a Pecan Bourbon neat instead of my normal Old Fashioned. ($14 and $15 respectively). Keep in mind unlike Rustico there's no happy hour prices here. We ordered the 12 ounce smoked prime rib to share and it must have taken a good twenty minutes to get to us after they'd cleared off our appetizer dishes. This was definitely a hit and flavors were fantastic. The Experience is priced at $45 and the prime rib also $45 so with another $30 of drinks it's about $120. Certainly you can go way up on the drinks and menu on your tab so be aware. I think it's a decent price. We didn't get a visit by the manager walking around to give any feedback or even check on how we were doing and the whole evening was fairly slow. While the food was pretty good overall evening just wasn't spectacular for us. We will keep the business in the family and go to Rustico going forward but hard to justify a cross-town drive here for just so-so service. read more

We've been to 1845 several times. This most recent visit was the first disappointment. The poblano meatballs never disappoint. My wedge salad had next to zero dressing on it. I asked, and was brought more, but that should have been noticed before it was brought out. Our filet was ordered rare plus, but was actually on the far end of medium rare. I can overlook this at the average joint, but not a semi upscale steakhouse. The Brussel sprouts and potatoes au-gratin were good, but the portion size was skimpy at best. $8 for less than half a potato and $8 for possibly 5 sprouts cut in half. I wasn't looking for value, but it was a tiny portion. For the same price, we could have gone to Bob's with their fantastic carrot. Maybe Marty has too many irons in his fire and quality is slipping. read more

The design lay out, and finish materials..all encourage a calm relaxed feeling the minute you sit down. Just enough time elapsed between sitting down and the arrival of our server. Not only did he greet us with a smile, but we were also filled in on the idea,concept and mission of the restaurant. Nice touch. Especially since it all is, Texas-centric! I've spent years stuck on my two favorites, Strip and Ribeye. However, recently I've been leaning toward Filet Mignon and that was tonight's choice. I opted for the largest cut they offered at 12 oz. Cooked perfectly medium rare with more flavor than I anticipated. Very enjoyable. The redfish dish was again prepared perfectly. Ive had red fish at about 4 different restaurants in the last month, each being excellent. This one is right up there with the best. A definite order if you like seafood. Elevated sides including Brussel sprouts and french fries werent just afterthoughts. They both could stand on their own and were very enjoyable. We went for the first time a couple weeks ago. I had the filet migon which was amazing. The 1845 salad was also surprisingly great. My husband ordered the pork chop, which was twice what was expected. He managed to get 3 meals out of it. The service was so good, so many people work there and are super on top of it. The atmosphere was really nice. We were there on a Saturday evening and while we had a reservation we still had a small wait, but the bar maid came by and took our drink order and was super quick. Whooooooweee! I don't even know where to start with this place. My first time there tonight for my bestie's 50th birthday. It was kind of a rough start but the ENTIRE staff made the entire night amazing between the hostesses, management and our amazing waiter Elijah. (Please give that man a raise). I forgot to take pictures of the food I had. But the chips with the spinach artichoke dip was phenomenal. The birthday girl who is not even a fan of artichokes LOVED it. It had a smoky flavor to it and the chips were very fresh and tasty!! I didn't have the wings but someone at our table did and boy was she having an out of body experience. She stated those were THE best wings of her life!!! They also had a smoky flavor and she was almost in tears they were that good. (Note to self: I'm getting those next time lol) I had the wedge salad with extra bacon and blue cheese crumbles. Man....when I tell you this salad as simple as it is was amazing that I ate every last bit of it and I usually do not do that with any of my food. While some of the items can be a little on the pricey side.....between the ambiance, staff, service and the food it is worth every penny! This place was pretty cool! Came here with my boss and a cowworker for a work trip. It is fairly loud and they play only music from artists who are from Texas. The wine menu was kinda small, I wish there had been more imported wine in the list. The servers were all nice and helpful. They were very knowledgeable about the menu. I got the 14 oz Texas strip and asked for medium rare. It came as requested and was seasoned wonderfully. The herb butter on top was great! The brussel sprouts side was also delightful! My coworker got the prime rib Texas dip and she loved it. She really enjoyed the smoked garlic sauce that came with it. She let me try a French fry with it and I agree, it was scrumtious! Today we had a reservation for 7:30 but didn't get sat till 8 and the manager brought us a glass of champagne each. Appreciated the toast and apologies for the long wait. UPDATE: After my last experience, I left a review that drew the attention of a manager (Brian). He reached out to me and asked if I would be open to a phone conversation to discuss my experience further. I found it peculiar as my review wasn't damning in the least bit however I noted a slight disappointment in the quality of the food I received. We spoke and I reiterated my sentiment from the review and he was understanding and said that it is abnormal for them to overcook steaks as they usually err on the side of caution. It was a very busy night and we are all human so an overcooked steak isn't the end of the world nor does it make you a bad establishment. They were very accommodating that night and remade it and everything was good. The location isn't particularly close to my residence so I stated that I probably wouldn't be returning but it is great for a night out if you are in the area. A sentiment I still stand behind. Brian was apologetic and asked if I would be willing to give them another shot. I said sure why not. He said that he would send a gift card and whenever I get the chance to stop in again as that wasn't their best representation. I thought that was extremely generous of him because like I stated before I wasn't some severely unhappy customer. For him to put that level of effort to ensure satisfaction along with the service that I received impressed me. I returned for round two. The ambiance is very impressive. Very busy in the front of the restaurant but more calm and relaxed in the rear section with the tables. I was very hesitant to get another steak however if Brian went through the trouble of reaching out and sending a gift card, the least I could do was give the respect of allowing them a second chance. Our server (I forgot her name but she was amazing), arrived quickly and had an extremely pleasant demeanor. We placed an order for the Tomahawk ribeye and she informed me that since it was a larger cut of meat, it will take a little longer to bring out. I was perfectly fine with that. Now with my first visit being over an hour I was expecting about that long. About 10 minutes later, a manager came to speak to us (Jackson if I'm not mistaken) and introduced himself. He stated that he was over the area that we were seated and if we need anything, not to hesitate to reach out. Throughout the wait, I noticed that he was very involved with other tables, helping clear them and checking on them as well. About 20 mins after ordering the food arrived. One thing that I noticed is that the table didn't have salt or pepper and my initial reaction was to ask for some before I even tried the steak. I refrained. It looked amazing, I cannot lie. I decided to try a piece and I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED! It needed NOTHING! This steak was night and day different that the first one I had. It wasn't a Tomahawk but a ribeye nonetheless. I flagged Jackson down and asked him to get Brian for me. I wanted to say hi and let him know that I made it back. I assured Jackson that it was a good thing and no complaints lol. We met and he was just as nice as before and wished us a great meal. After a few more check ups from our waitress who was dead on about the brownie dessert....IT'S HIT BTW and Jackson came at the conclusion of our meal and said that he spoke to Brian and he informed him of our last encounter and to give him honest feedback. I told him that this visit from the top down, was nothing short of amazing. It wasn't like we received special treatment as I didn't make myself noticed until the food came and we felt seen. We were served as if we mattered. That is all you truly want as a patron. The steak was flavorful, appropriately cooked, seasoned to perfection, tender, well presented, and timely. I informed Jackson that in all honesty that I am still unsure if I will be returning due to the proximity of my residence and the fact that it is a little on the pricey side and I am not sure of the barometer. Will it be more like the first experience or is this the bar? At the price point, Im unsure if I want to gamble. That is in NO WAY a slight to them because what I received that night was a 5 star experience from top down. I am just an extremely honest person. Fast forward to about 3 or 4 days later, I received a phone call from a lady representing the restaurant and she asked for feedback from my experience and my ideas on anything that they can do better to enhance the customer experience. This place is amazing. The walls are painted a dark color the lighting is perfect and the decor awesome. They have the place filled with local artists works. I had a steak and some Jalapeño Mac N cheese. It was cheesy with just the right amount of spice. My wife ordered the Brussel sprouts and they are flash fried and then coated with some kind of jalapeño jam , they are a must have. My steak was a little tough but it had very good flavor. I'm a BIG fan of Marty B's and finding out that there was a Steak house in this family restaurant chain was an absolute awesome surprise! We had to check it out and take Grandma there for her birthday! This steak house was amazing! The ambience and food style of this place was really nice and embraced TEXAS for sure! Our drinks were delicious, my favorite is the Clyde Barrow! For appetizers, we got the Texas Experience which came with a little of everything (I recommend to get this if it's your first time there) and the filet queso (we had to get more chips and could not stop eating it). So when the entrees came out, there wasn't time for pictures because everyone was immediately digging in and we absolutely loved our dishes! We ordered the filet medallions, ribeye, blacked redfish, and the smoked prime rib. My mother said the smoked prime rib was the best she ever had! Everything was cooked to perfection! The side that was the favorite for the night was the Au Gratin Potatoes, wow those were delicious! The Brussels sprouts were amazing too! Now we closed with the Dessert Platter and have no regrets! When we were seated, one of the managers came around and introduced himself to my wife and I, and offered us champagne due to the delay in our reservation. All in all the experience was fantastic. We discovered 1845 last night, and from the start, our server Makayla created a memorable experience! She was a great ambassador for the restaurant, concept and menu and was very knowledgeable about the cocktail list too. Restaurant was bustling and loud but we got a table towards the back so we could hear each other just fine. The drinks were a high point, with a great margarita and old fashioned. The food was pretty good too, although it generally I felt everything was a little oversalted - especially my truffle fries. The guys liked their prime rib and pork chop but both were not sure they would go that route if we were to return. I think we've decided that smoked is good to an extent but to have the entire entree smoked was a little too much for the tastebuds. We came in for my daughter's birthday and we had a big party with us. Our waiters were great and very informative. Our drinks and appetizers came out in a timely manner. The food was amazing! I did find some hair in my food but I let them know and they replaced my meal swiftly. Honestly that didn't taint my experience nor did it take away from the food. It was so good! Took my partner here with all his friends waiting as a surprise dinner, and overall everything was amazing! The ambiance was dim lighting and a good variety of music (all from texas artists). They also did great at "hiding" the rest of our party at a table further back (per my request) so my partner didn't see them right away. Our server jayden was super sweet and helpful. My boyfriend and 1 other guest from our party ordered the Tomahawk Steaks and it was TO DIE FOR! The size and quality made it definitely worth the price. All the food delicious especially the jalapeño mac n cheese!!! Pretty much everyone agreed these were the best steaks we have had in our lives! Would definitely come back here for special occasions. My only con was that we were a party of 6 and they put us in a booth that technically did fit all 6 of us but we were pretty cramped elbow to elbow and 3/6 of our party were big and very tall men so i'm sure they weren't the most comfortable. This place is a bit of a drive for us, but we wanted to try it for my mom's birthday dinner, which they really didn't acknowledge, even though they asked. The place was packed. They do have valet if you need it for parking. I was questioning why they needed 5 or 6 hostesses, but when I saw how big the place was, I understood. The service and staff were fantastic, including the managers. They apologized for our food being slow, but we didn't think it was. The filet queso appetizer was fantastic, and we loved the meatballs. We wished we hadn't ordered the pork belly, since it was similar in taste and sweetness to the meatballs. It was also huge! I wish it had some sort of coleslaw or some acid, since it was just a bun and belly. The wings also had great flavor. We enjoyed the redfish and the burgers, which were cooked corrrcy to medium rare. We were disappointed in the wine list, and thought the music was way too loud. While I can appreciate that it's not an over stuffy Dallas establishment, it also seemed weird to be dining next to people in sweatpants.
