The good - the staff is friendly and attentive. The food is okay, but not worth the price point. The not so good - I have been here twice. Both times, they got my order wrong. They were good about correcting it, but 2 for 2. The second time, I ordered smoked prime rib. I ordered med rare, and it came out med well to well. How can a high end steakhouse miss this? They refired another that came out closer (med), but I decided just to eat it. The flavor was good, but the steak was chewy and tough. They ruined the tenderness of a ribeye - not sure how. At $46, you think they'd get it right. For about the same price, I can go to a real steakhouse that serves prime beef and cooks to proper temp. read more

We both ordered the Filet Mignon which was just amazing. Even the sides were delicious. The jalapeño mac and cheese was my favorite. I had the Texas strip steak. Cooked perfectly. My side was au gratin potatoes. Very tasty but a touch salty. My wife had the salmon which she loved as well as the mushroom side dish and jalapeño Mac and cheese. She said they had great flavors but a little salty. We finished with a desert tray which I'd basically say is a sample platter. The deserts were lighter which was great after a big meal and all were very tasty. My only knock is, we had 6 people so the tables in the booths were so overcrowded as they brought the courses so quickly we were scrambling to make room on the table. I find it very offensive that the bartender asked for my credit card when I ordered a drink. I haven't been asked that in 30 years at a college bar. Very poor taste and policy at this supposedly high end restaurant. I was the best dressed person at the bar. Was it because I'm older? Very discriminatory since the bartenders didn't ask everyone. You either do it for all or none. I would have stayed for more drinks but left. You're losing business with this absurd policy. And food was just okay. You also had 5 bartenders more focused on talking amongst themselves and drinking their Starbucks drinks than being aware of your customer's needs. I've been here 4-5 times before and was never asked for a credit card. Do you really have that many people running their tabs??? I seriously doubt. Highly recommend the family style appetizer. I ordered the smoked prime rib. I loved the concept but you will need to appreciate heavily smoked meat not made over clean smoke. If you smoke you know. Only recommendation I have is that the place is so gloomy dark they need to turn a light on. On a Sunday late afternoon/ early evening with my wife and in-laws we were seated far away from any other table so my wife raised the shade about 6-8 inches to let sunlight in to read the menu. The manager came over and said they are trying to keep a certain mood and asked us to lower. Typically that attitude would make me get up and leave but he handed my his pen flashlight for reading, which tells me I wasn't the first encounter. Visited 1845 Taste Texas for our 35 Wedding Anniversary and it was a spectacular night with great drinks (1845 Old Fashion, 1845 Margarita and Moscow Mule), along with an appetizer (pork belly), wedge salad & house salad, and the rib eye with bake potato, prime rib with jalapeño, mac & cheese, and dirty rice and shrimps and mushrooms. I visited this location a long time ago when it was still Carvao, Brazilian steakhouse. Having that previous, outstanding experience, I had a slight doubt on how the new 1845 compares. Saturday evening seemed to be popular, with 40 min waiting time -- which was a good sign. Finally set at the table, and having tasted the first bite of my medium rare ribeye, the doubt was gone. Great quality of food and service, in a very relaxed and vivid environment. The steaks are just a bit on expensive side but well on par with quality. First, let me say that we love the food at 1845 and we have never had bad service. On this visit, I was with my husband and two grown sons and we were seated at a "4 top" in the middle of the dining room. My issue with this is that the 4 tops are extraordinarily small and should only ever be used for two people. Calling it a 4 top is actually generous. Moving along, we had 3 adults drinking cocktails, the Texas experience appetizer, two adults having the smoked pork chop and two having steak (1 ribeye, 1filet medallions). I bring this up for context at the table--it was way too crowded! Very long story short, we spent over $500 to spend the entire time at a table made for two. (And in case you're wondering, this was at 5:30 on Sunday night and the place was not crowded. There were several booths and larger tables available.) Finally, yes. We did have a reservation and were STILL seated there. All of this to say, we enjoy 1845 and will go back. But please, please ask your hostesses to stop seating parties of 4 at tiny tables!! The food was delicious. We started off by the appetizer plate that comes with a little bit of everything, the Texas experience. Honestly I tried everything except for the quail(everyone finished it before I had a chance to try lol). My fave was the pork belly. Please make reservations before you come so at least you will be seated in a timely manner. They have a strict policy about sitting your entire party at the same time so ensure you are all there before you get a table. Parking can get very challenging because the restaurant is located next to numerous shops and the parking lot gets full. So you'd have to park very far if you come late. Like most steak house restaurants, its pretty dark when you walk in but it's very lively inside. The steaks are delicious but I decided to order the chicken breast smothered with a cream sauce and dirty rice with the side of green beans. The food was fabulous! My husband found us two spots at the bar and we relocated to that location. Wine list was underwhelming, no vintages printed on the menu, many of the wines lacked the proper descriptions and their mark up was 200% or more. Dessert was good we had the peach cobbler. The lightening was dark, but each table had a small lamp that gave plenty of light.
