Great outdoor patio area. Our severs were friendly and prompt. Their truffle fries are like crack. Seasoned perfectly and fried to have a wonderful crunch. And the truffle seasoning steals the show! I also just tried their tenderloin tips. Nicely seasoned and slightly spicy tips cooked to tenderness and the red wine reduction is oh-so tasty. Don't need the bead, but I'll take it, to sop up the sauce! Our fettuccine Alfredo came al dente and with just the right amount of Alfredo sauce. Not overly seasoned. The chicken was a nice neutral protein added in. There was even enough for lunch the next day. It was our first time on the patio. It's a nice, calm, and relaxing way to have dinner outside. Stamm House is a great option if you're looking for dinner in the Middleton area. The space is huge so if you're going out with a bigger party this restaurant is a great dinner choice. All the people working are really friendly and our food came out super quick as well. I went with the pesto pappardelle for dinner and it was pretty good, just a bit on the heavier side. The food portions are also huge so you get a ton with your order! My personal favorite was the cookie skillet we ordered to end the meal. I was so hopeful this would be an amazing dinner. The building was so cute, huge patio and nice lighting. The staff was very nice, but definitely over-worked and quite literally running to get around to everyone...with even not that many people there. The food looked amazing, in photos and in person. but unfortunately it tasted awful. I took one bite of my crab cakes and couldn't stomach another, the potatoes were soggy. My husband got a burger and only ate half. I had one old fashioned and it was okay, my husband had two drinks, thinking the second cocktail may be better... it wasn't. $125 for bland, gross food and okay drinks. Took them forever to take our drink order then we were informed that our meals would take 30 minutes to make. We had 3 prime ribs that all were over cooked and had no taste and a rubber texture. This is one of our favorite restaurants! We love coming here on nice days to sit on the patio, for Friday night fish fries, and for special occasions. The menu seems to have something for everyone, and the portions are generous. There are so many great items on the menu from salads, to burgers, to pasta, to fish and more. Really enjoyed our recent visit to Stamm House. Some friends were keen to go but some of the reviews weren't great. I don't know why - we had an amazing meal there. We started with the beet salad which was excellent. As it was Friday I wanted to try the Fish Fry and it did not disappoint. We top off the meal with a crème brulee and it was very good. The waiter was great checking in with us through the night. We sat upstairs as there were a few sprinkles of rain so the patio was not a good option and we loved the old stone walls. The atmosphere was great. We will definitely come again next time we are in Middleton. Totally recommend! read more

I really like this place. Came early at 5:30 for a table and we did t have to wait at all. The patio was open and they have an upstairs. They have two bars up and down. They got really busy by 6:30 and you could tell the servers were moving but they still provided my table with great service. I'll come back! read more

Really, really cool location!! Long history of the Stamm house- "built in 1847, as a service store to the "Old Sauk Trail"", In 1852 it became a hotel and tavern, in 1910 it became a dance hall, in 1925 ownership was changed again, and in the 1950s it because a Supper Club. It was repurchased in 2013 by the current owners, and restored to what it is today. Really neat (longer) history that you can find on the website. Both the ceiling and the wine cellar are original, make sure to look at both!! The menu has a wide selection of entrees (including extra fish on Fridays). For dinner we ordered the truffle fries, cheese curds, and gnocchi with sausage. The truffle fries were perfectly crispy and the bacon herb and chipotle aioli they were served with tasted exquisite (best part of the fries). I thought the gnocchi was the perfect texture- not too dense- and the crumbled up sausage paired with the pasta and the red sauce nicely. Really enjoyed both the atmosphere and the food here and would definitely return. read more

Lots of parking in the back area. Loved the vibes and the patio area was perfect for summer. I was kind of surprised the reviews aren't that great. We started off with the burrata. Light but tasty appetizer to start off with. My boyfriend got the burger that came with fries. Loved the fries! Super crunch, perfectly salted. Very large portions. I opted for the salmon. The brussel sprouts were plain by themselves but this dish with the bacon bits and salmon made it a perfect bite every time. I loved the lobster cream on the bottom. As far as service was, we liked our waiter. She was attentive. We thought it was a bit slow. It did get annoying at some point eating out on the patio because of the bugs. For the extreme price of $50 for a prime rib it doesn't include a salad many of the sides have up charges and a cup of soup is $11! The absolute worst prime rib I've ever had anywhere. We went to Stamm House for my birthday. We had 8 people which included two kids. We were seated upstairs in a lovely all brick room. Our waiter was fantastic. I'd go back just for the service alone. The historic aspect of dining at the Stamm House unfortunately did not outweigh the disappointing and over-priced meal we had there. Our group of six arrived exactly on time for our Saturday night reservation. Still, we had to wait for our table despite the fact that much of the restaurant was empty. The group that arrived after us, with no reservation, was attended to and seated before us. We started with drinks and appetizers. The cocktail I ordered was pretty watered down. When the appetizers we ordered arrived at the table, our server completely forgot to bring plates and silverware. He walked away from the table and we assumed he'd be back with them shortly. But when he returned to take our entree orders, he did not have plates in hand and we had to ask him outright to bring them. The truffle fries were alright, nothing spectacular. The calamari was a teenie tiny serving size. The Brussel sprouts were undercooked but probably the best thing I ate the whole meal. All three apps were served with nondescript mayo sauces that basically tasted the same. My husband ordered the chef special, which was bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin and shrimp. It wasn't bad, but very very salty. The mashed potatoes were incredibly dry and the salad was the best thing on the plate, despite the weird inclusion of avocado. I ordered the chicken piccata, one of my favorite dishes... it was inedible. $25 got me hard, undercooked, boxed pasta (none of the dishes we ordered featured fresh pasta), incredibly overcooked and dry chicken, and a nonsensical array of mushrooms, tomatoes and canned artichoke hearts. I ate about two bites of food before deciding it wasn't worth it. Overall, a super disappointing meal. I don't think we'll return or recommend to others... I really wish we would have gone downtown for a burger instead. read more

Went to that Stamm House at about 6pm with 5 couples. Seated upstairs at a nice table but the room was very cool. I mean cold. Group started with some nicely prepared beef tips as an appetizer. Wifey had the grilled chicken sandwich and a side salad. The sandwich was average at best and the side salad was fresh but very small. I had the French onion soup ($10) and a side salad ($10) with blue cheese dressing. The soup was very good, loaded with croutons and a heavy dose of melted cheese. I really enjoyed the soup. The side salad was small and the dressing was some ranch with 2-3 small chunks of blue cheese. I was disappointed with the salad and ticked off at the price. Our friends had other assorted items. I didn't make note of them. No one was raving about the food being good and everyone was commenting about how cool the room was. In all honesty I can't recommend the Stamm House. The ambiance of the outdoor seating drew me into this place every time I drove past it. Finally was able to try it out with some friends and we enjoyed the seating outside. In the fall I had my first experience at 1847 at the Stamm House. A spur of the moment dinner with a new associate led me here, when bff had to cancel our prior arrangement. So I told the associate to pick a place. I was pleased when she said 1847 at the Stamm House as I had never been but have noticed the unique looking structure. I went in cold, not having time to look at the menu or reviews prior. Dining partner was at what looked to be a well stocked bar. Nonalcoholic adult beverages are what she had. I point that out as I'm unsure how common it is to find nonalcoholic beer at places and that may be a pro. For the meal we were sat at the tables on the same level. And it was extremely loud, like shouting to hear the person across from you, this Saturday evening. Also the tables were in such close proximity that I could reach out and touch the next. As I was using a crutch I also had wedge it into the skinny base of the two top table so that it wouldn't be in the aisle next to the other two top tables on both sides. I ordered beef stroganoff. A little light on the beef in my opinion. Small serving and I've never been mistaken for a big eater! I also could have used the server coming back to check on drink refills. Overall, I would give this another chance. I would just ask to be seated elsewhere and spend some time on Yelp reviews before going to figure out what the best dishes are here. read more

Have been by several times when visiting Middleton. Finally stopped in for drinks and dinner on a Saturday night. Seated immediately upstairs so we could enjoy the cool decor and setting. Love the history of the place. Had capable hostess and wait staff. We had tenderloin bites/toast for half price appetizer as we were there early in the evening. My husband had 12 oz. Prime rib with potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Very good! I had the salmon salad-fresh and tasty. Good wine & beer selections also. Recommend and glad we finally stopped in. I wanted to like this place. It's so cute and charming, has a full menu and makes a good old fashioned! But if the food doesn't match up..then eh I guess you could come for some pre-dinner drinks or a night cap. Or maybe just avoid the fish fry, which is what I got. The fish was bland, mushy, and the fries were about the same. I will say I liked the coleslaw, but it was such a small amount, I was underwhelmed. The service was good, attentive, and easy to split our check, so that was a plus, but overall I wont' be making my way up to this place again, unless I'm in the area. Really had a good experience at 1847 Stamm House. When driving by it may seem like just another bar but it's far from it. We started with the tenderloin-tip appetizer which was so delicious. The red wine sauce had so much flavor and went very well with the toast. Entrees we're the Stamm Burger and Carbonara which came highly recommended. The burger is humongous and can easily be shared. It was cold which was upsetting but still tasty. The "cheese curds" that come on the burger is actually just a thick slice of cheese fried. The carbonara was very good, the parmesan cream sauce was perfect. Overall the food was alright but they have so many options I would be opposed to coming back and trying something else! read more

I've driven past this place so many times and have always wanted to come here, it looks so neat from the outside. The ambiance on the inside is actually very neat and they do a good job of keeping the integrity of the house's age. We came on a winter night, and they did not seem too busy as we were some of the only people downstairs and it was too cold to be outside. I never went upstairs so I don't know how many people were up there, but it seemed like they were entirely unprepared for having multiple groups show up as service was super slow. Staff was very nice, but they were quite literally running around looking lost and confused as if they did not have the ability to keep up with everything. Albeit slow, service was otherwise fine so that would definitely not keep me from coming back and trying them again. The drinks were fine, I'm not a huge cocktail person but they had a dark beer for me and I was thus satisfied! The food was good, and I was so in love with the fact that they had pierogis on the menu! It's a traditional family food that I rarely find out, so I had to order them. Quite delicious. A lot of their appetizers sounded sooo good too. The food options on the menu also sounded great, and I am always a sucker for a black bean burger. Unfortunately, this one was terrible. It wasn't so much that it tasted bad, but it was quite literally impossible to eat. It fell apart so horribly (and I'm pretty experienced with handling different veggie burgers) that I barely was able to get a few bites in before it was all over my plate and I could not eat any of the ingredients together in the same forkful. I would definitely not order it again and try something else instead. Overall, our experience and food was pretty good. The place itself is super awesome and I just love the ambiance inside. I love this place. At first we thought we'd have to wait because the parking lot was full. But we were surprised as almost no one was sitting at the cute outside area. (By the time we left it was full and the parking lot was still full). As we walked through the restaurant to get outside, the aroma was delicious. We ordered the grilled perch, with two sides. I had the beans which had a nice salty crunch. (Think weight watcher fries). Our server was prompt, brought water and refills without our asking, and got our orders right. I can't ask for more. An incredible venue. The setting is as romantic as it is storied I'm most certain. Walking in the door is immediately revealing that this very rustic and indeed old building has to have stories that date decades, née a dozen plus decades. The decor though isn't the commodity I am quantifying. Too bad. It's magnificent, whereas the food isn't anything more vibrant than any lakeside supper club that while having nice scenery seems to have a bored or inattentive chef. Which is odd because I've heard that the chef was also the owner. Tonight (Friday 1/29) was my idea to bring my wife out for her birthday along with our son. Wanting to have something other than salmon which is my go to seafood of choice I opted for the pan seared perch dinner. Which while on paper sounded spectacular. Mashed potato's and a slaw. But on delivery it was anything but. Unless an array of white nicely arranged upon white china, with a white cup of cold slaw made with green (still mostly white) cabbage in a mayo dressing. Very unattractive. The fist too was bland as it was pale. Not even a whiff of seasoning. My wife's entree was a potato crusted walleye alongside vibrant and perfectly cooked green beans with a bacon and onion preparation. The third dish was my sons chicken sandwich which certainly was delicious in presentation. Judging how fast it vanished I can state with certainty it had to be good. As for the food. Both of our fish dinners were dull and with exactly as much seasoning as I would think an old folks home cook would prepare items so as to not incite any further blockage by means of sodium intake! The fish, at approx $23and $25 per, were not as good as I'd expect from Denny's. (The menu prices shown on Yelp are apparently out of date) The green beans on my wife's plate were the highlight of my night, with the quite tasty, but rather chunky mashed potato's. The drinks were also enjoyable even though It took the waiter well over 10 minutes to finally bring my second, which I'd been awaiting for all of 10 minutes to order after the first. He was nice, polite, but completely not in the ball. I wanted to enjoy drinks, but as soon as the food was gone, I immediately chose to head to the neighboring Craftsman for the remainder of the evening. First review of Stamm. The first visit was actually a promo early COVID-19 thing they offered. It was for a valued cause, so we ordered four meals. Rather spendy, and equally pedestrian in execution, but considering the family style presentation and being a take home thing I let it go that the food wasn't up to par. I've been to the Stamm house a few times now and felt like I could give it a fair rating at this point. Located on the west side, the Stamm house offers a woody, cozy, and semi formal atmosphere for patrons to dine. There are two floors with an outdoor seating component for warmer nights. The parking lot is a little awkward and there are conspicuous speed bumps without warning. One enters through the back of the house and walk to front in order to get service. Tables are too small for parties and makes comfortable dining difficult. Service is a hit or miss. First look at the menu suggests up scale options with a price tag to match it. Examples of what one should expect include fried cheese curds, crab cakes, french onion soup, Angus brand steaks, pasta dishes, and fried, baked, or seared fish options. Food quality and costs simply do not align. Last time we visited, we ordered cheese curds, fried perch dinner, and the steak and shrimp entree. The cheese curds were good: warm, gooey, and freshly breaded and fried. We found, however, that there were many pieces of fried breading the basket without any corresponding cheese, almost like the scraps that should be filtered from the deep fryer were not cleaned up. The steak and shrimp were a let down as well from the start, with a sloppy presentation at its immediate delivery to the table (see pic) and a piece of shrimp that had a black spot on it, implying it's need to have been not used and rather thrown into the trash. While the Angus brand does imply a certain level of quality per the website, the general texture, doneness, and seasoning were all a let down as well. I highlight a number of the downsides of the Stamm house but still give it three stars. It has a unique location and a nice atmosphere but overall in need of work. There are better places on the west side for less of a hit on the wallet. read more

My fiancé and I love the Stamm House! We often come here in the spring and summer to enjoy their beautiful patio. They have a delicious cocktail menu, and a comprehensive main dinner menu. We especially love their cheese curds (and he loves the cheese curd burger). They're often very busy in the summers, but I've found that the service is still always good. At our last visit, I requested grilled chicken on my caesar salad and the chef mistakenly left it off (which is no big deal at all, and the first time I've had an incorrect order at Stamm). When I let the server know, he was very apologetic and brought it to me right away. He even comped me the cost of the chicken, without me asking! I was very impressed by this. We will continue coming here as long as it is open! read more

Super disappointing experience. I went here a few years ago and the food was really, really excellent. Both times I ordered the veggie sandwich and years ago. It was this massive sandwich loaded with vegetables, well toasted bread and a light sauce. But this time it was, sparsely populated with "vegetables" loaded with a sauce that I cannot get the flavor out of my mouth, and the bread was soggy with butter. Appetizers were even worse. Brussels sprouts, fried and away as to make them actually wet and calamari that had a weird stink to it. I know this place has some of the best farmhouse atmospheres in town, it just can't seem to keep a consistent Chef employed. Super hit and miss. I love the look and feel of this place. We sat upstairs where there is a rustic cool light fixture and bar. The stone walls are gorgeous. Saturday night prime rib was enjoyed by my hubby...Was above average and he liked the option of choosing from several vegetable choices (sauteed spinach, for him) in addition to the mashed potatoes it also included. I started with a wedge salad, which was delicious and quite large. For my entree I had the hamburger with fries. The burger was nicely dressed with the standard lettuce, tomato and onion, but was also topped with smashed fried cheese curds! Nice touch! The fries do have a batter, which the server did mention when I ordered. Not a huge fan of the fries. The server was attentive and efficient. Was shocked at how quickly the soup and salad arrived.
