Nice place to get a haircut. Now this is a barber shop, not a hair salon. I moved out of the area where a lady used to cut my hair at a salon. So, I needed a new place. After going to a couple places which couldn't accommodate me because I was a "walk-in", this place told me, "Sure, we take walk-ins!". Anyhow they said we're busy, but it goes fast. Price is competitive at $25 for a haircut. I can't believe I just wrote that. But, I have to remember it's post Covid and everything is so much more than before. My haircut was very uneven. I find many barbers try to style my hair before letting me see it as a trick to hide a bad job. It looks good after that but once wash it I find that hair length is all over the place. I'm positive there's a patch not that was not cut when I said to take an inch off the top. On top of this, 1857 smelled pretty strongly of marijuana and they don't take credit cars in 2017 (have you heard of Square?) The worst haircut and experience of my life. I had been here a couple of times before, but I found out today that my regular Barber no longer works here when I came in for a haircut(can clearly see why he left now). So I decided to try out the new Butcher...sorry, "Barber" that was in the shop. "EZCuts", he reckons his name is. EZCu*t would be more accurate. I should have left when the red flags popped up when I asked him how long he had been cutting hair, and he said since 2018 when he got out of FEDERAL PRISON. Inmates and convicts might be satisfied with the monstrosity of a haircut this clown produces, but regular people like myself expect a reasonable standard. This idiot asks me what I want and I said, I don't want anything off the top, just fade the sides and back down to a 1, don't go too short. I even show him a picture for reference of what I was hoping to achieve. He said he could do that no problem. He couldn't have done a worser job if he tried. Not only did he go down to basically below a 0 and make me bald on the sides. Everything was entirely uneven and didn't fade at all. He took my length off the top when I asked him not to. He took my sides up too far. There is no tapered or squared off technique at the back. He then started using a straight edge razor and was cutting my head with it vertically, essentially breaking the skin and causing my head to bleed everywhere. A little nip would have been forgivable, but he basically went shiv happy like he was back in the joint and sliced up each side of my head making me bleed everywhere. He then hands me a tissue and asks me to apply pressure to my head because I'm bleeding a bit. Mate, are we in a Barber shop or the Emergency Room!? He managed to push my hairline back and make the sides and corners completely bald and had the audacity to tell me it came out exactly the way he envisioned it, despite me specifically telling him that's not what I wanted. He also mentioned he does eyebrows as well, as if I wanted him to put a blade anywhere near my eyeballs, after the nightmare he's just done to my head. I'm absolutely devastated by this experience and this cretin clearly doesn't have a license to cut hair, nor the qualifications or training needed and required. He needs to go back to prison for this haircut, because this is a parole violation honestly. He's lucky I still even paid him, I even still tipped him because I'm nice like that. But seriously, screw EZCuts, and this barber shop all together. Never coming back here and strongly suggest everyone to avoid this place all together. read more

On my visit to 1857 I get a haircut from the so called owner of the shop who is trippen off Xanax and gives me the worst haircut ever where I have various bald spots and uneven lines. Worst experience of my life never coming back , guy sat me on his chair just to wait 45 minutes more kept acting weird, kept asking me what kind of hair cut I wanted ( literally 5 times )I kept asking for a skin taper and a beard line up 1 hr later starts cutting my hair suddenly shaves one side of my beard off smh! Doesn't even noticed it I kept my cool didn't even say anything , then he keeps goofing around 45 more minutes pass by hair cut was all messed up half of my beard is gone didn't even bother to shave the other side , the back of my neck wasn't even shave had to go home and do it my self, worst 25 dollars ever spend and sad part was going out in public and people staring at my hairy neck and my one sided beard !!! Chris (aka lil chris) let me tell you this man is by far the best barber I've ever had he was really professional and at the same time extremely friendly, i love this place the atmosphere is amazing the art work and the staff is pretty cool as well, it's safe to say i will be coming back its been the best 20 bucks I've ever spend for a hair cut. First time getting a cut here, was recommended by a friend. This place is by appointments only and is really convenient, walked in and waited about 5 mins and David was ready to cut my hair. I was really happy with my haircut, the barber was very meticulous and took attention to detail. The crew is very welcoming as you walk in, the cut is $20 but well worth it. I asked for a beard trim for the tips only and the guy cut shorter. I should of gotten # 8 clippers and done it myself. I also asked for a clean up, and for him to go around whatever line I had. The dude ended up going lower, doing his own style. And my mustache, he ended up above my lip line. Man I'm just going to shave it all off now and grow it again. 25 buck for a shitty job.
