Came here to grab some of their famous 7 layer rainbow cookies for work and they were a hit! Loved the heavy almond flavor and slight sweetness of the jam. After trying these there's no way I can go back to the regular 3 layer ones anymore lol. There are a ton of outstanding Italian bakeries in Bensonhurst and this one is kind of out of the way but definitely worth a stop for the rainbow cookies. Service was very fast and friendly. ~$20 for a pound of rainbow cookies. Cash only. read more

Love this place and have loved this place for decades. You have to try their donuts especially their Boston cream. This is a full line Italian American bakery in south Brooklyn that's known for everything. I was raised on these donuts. No pun intended. On my last visit I wanted to take a picture of the donuts but unfortunately I inhaled both immediately. The bakery itself is clean and the girls who work here are nice and always willing to help. I'm not going to waste your time here: Cuccio's has the best rainbow cookies I've ever had. You may know them as tricolore (which would be incorrect because there are at least five colors on these things - maybe that's the secret). You may be skeptical. You may not even like Italian cookies; I don't, usually. But these are the truth. My neighbor knows a thing or two about a thing or two, and he brought these over to my place once...now every time I head down the Belt Parkway, I'm either getting these cookies, or thinking about getting these cookies. I would give negative stars if I could! So disappointed in what use to be a neighborhood staple. I went in a bought 3 different items at a total cost of $25. What a waste of money. I got 2 mini cannolis, half a pound of bread sticks, and one pound of Italian cookies. Everything was stale. The cannoli shell was soft and gross, the cookies were legitimately disgusting and the bread sticks were so stale I took one bite and wanted to throw up. I wouldn't go back even if they offered me free pastry's. What a shame read more

Great old school bakery, pastries are fresh and there is a wide selection of regular and mini size items. Only down side is that the place is cash only. Tried the chocolate cannoli, regular cannoli, lobster tail, and cheese cake slice. All were excellent. read more

I think I just found the best Italian bakery in New York City, and it is in the backyard of where I spent a good portion of my childhood. Hard to believe, I know. But here it is. Only a five minute walk from the Avenue X subway stop on the F train, Cuccio's might just be, "The One". All the bakery items have that deep, delicious taste, and a size of all their pastry items for all appetites, whether you like things small or large, decadent or rich, they have it. It will be hard to order just one item here. The rainbow cookies? Yep, they sell them, and they are terrific. The lobster tail? With French cream? You bet. Fruit tart? That is a bit dense, but the fruit is so fresh and beautifully layered, that they make the whole thing a mouthwatering experience. Even their black and white cookie is delicious. How about a jelly donut bursting with jelly? There are not many bakeries that do not anymore, but this one does! The girls who service you are cute and smart. They are patient and have that Brooklyn decisiveness they would make any future mother in-law squirm. Telling, huh? As for payment, cash only. Again, cash only. You have been warned... twice. This bakery is a neighborhood staple. I have been coming here for at least 40 years. It has changed over the years but the bread and the donuts are still the same. The twist seeded bread is delicious and the donuts by far have been the best I have tasted. The only thing negative is that it is cash only! You can imagine how much I would have brought it they accepted credit. But don't let that stop you from going. Just make sure you have plenty of cash because you are going to want to get everything! read more

Local mom and pop bakery in the forgotten part of Brooklyn, Cuccio's a no frills sweet shop that have everything for everyone. Place has been around since 1937 and it kinda shows, but that's the charm. You know what else is charming? The crazy 7-layer rainbow cookie! They're pretty good and so beautiful! Serious question though: at what point do you stop calling them a cookie and say they're cake?? They're essentially a cake that have been cut up into bits so you can hold between your fingers but hey, if they've always been called a cookie then carry on and shove em down my greedy mouth! Whenever I stop by an Italian bakery, I would always get two important items: the colorful morsels (rainbow cookie/cake) and the pignoli cookies (hello pine nut heaven). I walked away with those two bad boys as well as a few other things for the family and the price is just right. If I didn't live so far away I would surely be handing fistful of cash every weekend for their decadent desserts! read more

I come to this bakery often as it is a block away from my house. It's honestly a hit or miss. It use to be your friendly neighborhood bakery, but now it feel a little impersonal. I mostly come for the bread that is very fresh but tends to sell out quickly. I dont feel like they make enough during the day. The service is ok Nothing to rave about. I dont think they are nice or rude. Just kind of do their job and take the next customer. They have been open throughout the pandemic and I give them a lot of credit for that. And they are trying their best to enforce social distancing and masks. read more

Picked up a couple of cakes last night for my motherS birthday today. Opened up the box today to celebrate and saw mold on one of the strawberries. We have been Cuccios customers since 2000 and unfortunately this isn't the first time something like this has happened. If John is still the owner he needs to make sure his employees have better quality control over the cakes. When I worked here in the early 2000's we had similar problems due to negligence on our part but I would assume that this would have been corrected long ago. Definitely an unhappy experience. Also, the cakes were kept in the fridge overnight. The second cake was fine, however this one is all sorts of struggling. read more

Lemon Meringue Pie is amazing!!!!!! I walked in with the intention of buying some Italian cookies or cake. The Lemon Meringue Pie spoke to me from the showcase. I took it home and oh boy !!! I ordered a cake and they gave me a price of $25 and left a deposit . I went back four days later to pickup the cake and they told me they gave me the wrong price and it'll be $7 more. I don't mind paying the extra $7 but the way they went about telling me was rude. And I had no choice in taking the cake because it was the day of the party.. read more

I bought 3 types of pastries from this bakery: eclairs, lobster's tail and crullers. Only the lobster's tails were delicious and fresh. Crullers were dry and tasteless. The eclairs were stale, so much so that they had a strong aftertaste and refrigerator smell. The owners of this bakery do not value their reputation or believe that customers are complete idiots who do not understand quality food. And also a negative point is cash only. The workers are very polite, there are no complaints about them. read more

Cuccio's Bakery has been in business since 1937. The neighborhood has changed significantly in those years, but Cuccio's has survived. I rode the F train to Avenue X, and walked three blocks to find my destination. I ordered an array of desserts and they were all good. Red Velvet Cannoli cake was very good, the Chocolate Pistacchio cake was very nice, as was the Chocolate Mousse. Cash only, and metered parking is available if you drive. read more

My family shopped at this bakery since I was a small child, many years ago, as they lived nearby. Always fantastic bread, cookies and pastries. I left the area over 33 years ago and visited recently.... it didn't disappoint. I bought a seeded twist.... It was delicious!! And the biscuits and donuts are just as I remember. Still delicious as well. I miss the older woman who was ALWAYS there for as long as I could remember. Old school local bakery. Wonderful!! I grew up only knowing this bakery yummies! My dad would bring me a strawberry shortcake with giant strawberries every Birthday with real whip cream! The cheese danish weighed 5 pounds and was the most delicious. It's a good thing I no longer live in Brooklyn I'd probably be very unhealthy!! If you live in the Gravesend area, avoid Cuccios bakery at all cost!!! Back in the day when the previous owners were alive, they were mean and cruel and never kind to customers. It's a miracle they survived. Today they are no longer there but the quality of baked goods is horrible. Everything is overly sweet and stale. Yesterday I bought a poundcake, some turnovers and crumb cake to a friends house and attempted to have dessert. Everything was hard I had to throw it away. But not before being so embarrassed. AND THEY ONLY EXCEPT CASH!! Really!! Go to Ave U and West 5th Street to Elegant Bakery - I never had a stale product from them. read more

I had no problem finding parking. They had a few people ordering at the front, and a few people eating in the back. I perused the available cake (and pie) slices and other smaller baked goods, but did not see the Blackout Cake Slice! When I asked the staff, they regretfully informed me that they did not have slices that day, so I went with the next best option... an 8" cake! I didn't get any writing on the cake, as I already had a Happy Birthday candle, and I didn't want to add extra icing to the cake. I liked how well they package the cake. The box was large enough, and they line the bag with a thin piece of cardboard to stabilize the box. I'm not a big sweets person, but I enjoyed the chocolate-y richness of the cake. The cake itself was moist and the pudding held everything together well. I would be back to try their Strawberry Shortcake and other desserts.

Their focaccia is probably my favorite and the balsamic vinaigrette was so good that my husband and I had to ask for a couple of refills. We even asked our waitress where we could buy it, but unfortunately she wasn't sure. The seafood pasta was also delicious and loaded with seafood. You probably can't tell from the picture but it also came with plenty of little clams. The beef agnolotti looked a bit rich at first but it wasn't overly heavy at all and we ended up finishing just about everything. I'd definitely recommend this place. Just be sure to make a reservation, especially during peak meal times, because it gets pretty busy.

The West Coast oysters were Kumamoto (California), while the East Coast selection were called Bad Boys (from Nova Scotia, Canada). Normally I'm a big fan of West coast oysters, but the Bad Boys were delicious! They were plump with a bold ocean brine & crisp finish. My friend also ordered a cup of clam chowder, which he thoroughly enjoyed. One of the best oyster HH spots I've come across, because it seems to be harder finding good ones lately. Would definitely come back to try the other seafood dishes.

I have a sweet tooth and this place satisfied my every need after I had dinner in the area. Prompt friendly service. Beautiful dining room and PLENTY of desserts to choose from. I ordered the mini trio which I selected a canolli, Napoleon, and the Romance Chocolate cake. All good, especially the Napoleon. Add a Cafe Mocha to that and I was in heaven. Everything looked really good when I walked in there and I picked up a cheese cake, it was terrible. The cheesecake is supposed to be really creamy, this one was dense and chewy, after a few spoons, I was like, enough, it was so dense that I had hard time swallowing it. Great local Bakery in the neighborhood, always fresh and tasty, they have a great variety of birthday cakes, and you can also customize it and order it if it's not ready there. Also, they have cookies and different breads as well. You should give it a try. read more

The last time I got them they were hard and difficult to bite into and tasted stale. They were pretty expensive too. For $14.75 per pound, no cookies should be old.

All the reviews stating their desserts are stale are accurate. Also, I've never had a cannoli shell taste cinnamon-flavored - not even like someone was a little heavy handed with the cinnamon, but that it was intentionally flavored to taste only like cinnamon (which couldn't be farther from how cannoli are supposed to taste). What an unfortunate fall from grace. On a positive note, I hear the breads are still decent. I'll update on that if I'm ever desperate enough to return here lol
